    How far along? 38 weeks
    Next appt: Friday
Name, if you have one/are sharing: Girl name is set in stone. I'm pretty sure we decided on a boy name.
What do you have left to do: Pack LO's bag and the dog's stuff. But can't do that until it's go time.
Trying any Old Wives' Tales: I've been doing lots of bending and squats, tried the breast pump a few times, and even tried the "old fashioned" way. I don't think I'll be trying that again though, too uncomfortable!
    Delivery type/plans: Vaginal, with epidural
Progress, if you know: I don't know. Lots of timed contractions and cramps but everything always stops.
Plan for other LOs: My parents are eagerly waiting for the call so they can take LO while DH and I are at the hospital. My mom babysits LO once a week and they live in the same town as us so I'm comfortable with the setup.
How you're feeling overall: Very ready to meet this little person I've been growing inside me. Getting impatient!

@Mrs. Blue: lol! Do you keep the baby in your room at first or straight to the nursery?

@bhbee: LO1 is 14 months and no words yet but she has been pointing at my belly button lately like "mom what happened?!" lol

@MapleMoose: Oh, he'll be in our room for a while--probably 6 weeks or so. So, I'm not too concerned about getting it perfectly ready. (Although, in honesty, it may look just like that by the time he starts sleeping in there.

How far along? 38 weeks today

    Next appt: Friday

Name, if you have one/are sharing: its been set for a long time now.

What do you have left to do: Pack the rest of my hospital bag and wash/sterilize my pump parts and buy a couple new bottles. This kid is going to have a bottle within her first week of life...not like LO#1 who basically starved herself when she didn't get the boob.

Trying any Old Wives' Tales: nothing. i want baby to wait until at least the 15th because i have so much work to do at the office and want to get it all done before i go on leave.

Delivery type/plans: epidural is the only thing in my plan.

Progress, if you know: Last week i was 1 cm dilated and baby's head was low, cervix soft. growth scan said baby was 7lbs 3 oz and based on those measurements, a due date of 1/14 which is one week earlier than my official due date.

Plan for other LOs: if it is the middle of the night, my brother lives close by and we will either drop LO off there or he will come over here. if it is during the day on a weekday, our nanny will be here.

How you're feeling overall: well, today i have a sinus infection and pink eye in both eyes, so i feel really shitty. DH and I have been so sick for over a week. outside of that, i feel pretty good considering how gigantic i am. i am kind of in denial that the baby will be here at the latest, in 3 weeks. i am hoping she stays put for at least another week and a half so i can get my stuff done at work!

Yikes I can't believe tomorrow is my due date! Not that anything will likely happen, but I feel like I've been waiting forever for this!

@MrsHansen82: even if she takes her time coming, you are still sooo close to meeting her.

    @MrsHansen82: So very close!!!

I've been up since 2:30 am (it is 5 AM now) and no signs of going back to sleep in the next hour and a half. Seriously, I hope I get more sleep once this kid is born.

DH is SO OVER the maternity pillow, ha! It's like sleeping with two extra people in bed, because it has "arms" extending down on both sides. (So awesome, because I can just flip over and not have to adjust anything.) Mrs. Espion, tear down this wall!

@Espion: Haha, I think I was super annoying to sleep with last night. One of us may need to move into the twin bed in the nursery.

@Espion: seriously that is like the pregnancy witching time. I did 2:30-5:30 last night too. Thankfully I got a little more in before I heard little feet coming to wake me up. I am way more sleep deprived now than I was when LO was a newborn! I also think you must get some hormonal boost with a newborn that helps ... Or at least I am telling myself that to stay sane.

@meowkers: How are you doing? Thinking of you! @MrsHansen82: @charmed: I think you two and Meowkers are next! It's been quiet for a few days on the baby front, so it's probably time for some more squishy, cute newborn photos!

@Espion: @Radish: @bhbee: My DH is the annoying one to sleep with in this case, his snoring will probably cause us to get divorced some day haha! He sleeps like a rock even through my 4-5 pee trips.

I just started a postpartum thread to see how everyone's doing at home. Can't wait for more babies!

@Espion: sorry you're not sleeping well! My DH loves my pillow and keeps trying to steal it from me (and says he will once I'm not pregnant). Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and we're both cuddling it

@Mrs. Blue: It's way too cold out here to have a baby right now! (13°, but with wind chills of 5-20 below zero!!) I told her she has to stay put until it's a little warmer

@Mrs. Blue: Right. People need to start having these babies because that makes me feel closer to having mine. I'm ready to meet all the January babies!!!

@HappyBaker: thanks! thats what the dr said, its pretty common this winter. i started my eye drops yesterday and now my eyes feel way better. they still hurt, but i'm not wiping goop from them every 5 minutes. so disgusting.

    nectarine / 2242 posts

@SleepyMonkey: ugh yes - when DD came to visit us at the hospital Tuesday she had it and I felt so bad but really did NOT want her near the baby! Luckily those drops work quickly!

Ok, just pumped and didn't seem to do much for contractions, though I did feel sort of traumatized by setting it up - I had a hard time turning it on! And I didn't really have a bad pumping experience last time, it just sucks (no pun intended).

While pumping I read that orgasm can produce as much or more oxytocin?? Perhaps that part of DTD can be a weekend activity ...sure beats pumping more.

@bhbee: The real test would be pumping and orgasming at the same time! Haha!!

3 cm dilated at my appointment today. This new doctor didn't say anything about effacement, and she thought baby wasn't low in my pelvis yet (the previous two doctors have said otherwise, and my pelvis/bladder beg to differ!) but she still said she expects me to go into labor in the next few days, before my due date next Tuesday. Part of me loves hearing that, but I also sort of wish they wouldn't say it - like they're jinxing it or setting me up for disappointment.

  22. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

@keepcalmcarrie: sounds promising! I hate how there are no real answers to when and how it will all go down - so many scenarios to go through in your mind.

  23. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@MrsHansen82: The woman that can pull that off has all my respect & deserves to go into labor immediately!

  24. MapleMoose

    grapefruit / 4213 posts

    @MrsHansen82: hahaha that would be.....interesting.....

@keepcalmcarrie: I know what you mean. Two different OBs told me I would go early this time and I'm 39 weeks and getting discouraged! Although I still have a week until my due date but still, they both said early, not on time.

@SleepyMonkey: @Radish: @Espion: @charmed: @Mrs. Blue: thanks for the feedback on having mom in the delivery room or not. had a super emotional day/night last night (I'm sure it was hormones) but decided having her in the room would probably be a great thing. also if i wanted some alone time with dh, i know she wouldn't be hurt. but reading your replies really helped!

looking forward to meeting more january babies soon! 39 weeks tomorrow, and my check today showed I haven't progressed at all since 36 weeks. I am actually pretty happy about that - have plenty of work and home stuff to take care of!

So I just had my 40 week appointment, due today! She did a membrane sweep which hurt so f-ing bad! She also said I was a good 3cm and 70% effaced. I'm feeling off and on cramp/achy and spotted a little but no contractions yet. I'm so hoping this works. Either way, she said we would be able to induce if I wanted after my appointment next week. I'm not sure if I want to or not though. She doesn't want me to get to 42 weeks. Send me good labor thoughts for tonight!!

@Oliviapope: Glad you came to a decision about having your mom there. Must be a relief not to have to worry about that anymore.

@MrsHansen82: Sending you labor vibes!! Hope the sweep gets things going!

    How far along?
    38 weeks today!

    Next appt:
Ultrasound in half hour to see her position. Then another check up in one week.

Name, if you have one/are sharing:
I think we're sure, but I'm still considering options.

What do you have left to do:
So much! Work projects to wrap up (ok, let's be honest--start and finish) are on the top of the list. Nursery is not finished, but that can wait if need be--I'd be happier to have it all done. Hospital bag to pack. Car seat to install. Food to prepare.

    Trying any Old Wives' Tales:
    Nope.

    Delivery type/plans:
Was hoping for vaginal, med-free birth, but at 38 weeks, it seems she has turned breech again!

    Progress, if you know:
Too hard to tell b/c it seems like she's breech.

    Plan for other LOs:
My dog? We'll have neighbors and friends check in on her (one more thing to line up!)

    How you're feeling overall:
Ok. Physically fine, but emotionally overwhelmed with all that needs to be done.

My appt is in 20 minutes. I'm having a lot of anxiety about whether my body will go I to labor on its own (since they won't induce me for a VBAC), so I'm putting way to much weight on whether I'm at least making progress at each cervical check. I'm 2 days shy of 39 weeks, and I feel like this one has to go well for me to feel like there's a chance of this working out. I really don't want to go to 41 weeks only to have to have a c-section anyway because I haven't gone into labor. Ugh. I know I probably need to calm down and trust that my body will do its thing, but that's easier said than done for me. Fingers crossed that I'll get some encouragement today.

  33. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

@Mrs. Blue: How stressful! I hope your body gets the memo. I think the not knowing aspect of it all is what is driving me crazy. I'm not opposed to any safe delivery outcome, but not knowing when, if, how and all that has every scenario running through my head. I just want to know if I'm in for a 4 week wait still or it could be any day at this point.

  34. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

No progress at all in the last week and a half. Not sure what we will decide to do.

  35. CatchAFallingStar

    nectarine / 2809 posts

@keepcalmcarrie: ugh. Nothing happening for me!! And my doctor wants to induce if she's not born by her due date due to my "advanced maternal age" of 36. I do not want to induce.

  36. HappyBaker

    nectarine / 2242 posts

@Mrs. Blue: Sorry you didn't get better news! For what it's worth I was only 1-2 dilated a couple days before my water broke! And for my daughter I was barely a cm the same day I went into labor. Hoping something happens for you soon!

  37. turquoisemama

    persimmon / 1481 posts

@keepcalmcarrie: @keepcalmcarrie: No news here, I guess the sweeping didn't really work. I did have about three hours of pretty bad cramping and sharp pains with tight contractions in between, but nothing really timeable for an extended period of time. I also had non painful contractions all night, but it all kind of ended. Hopefully it at least helped to dilate me more. Oh well. At least I know I can be induced next week if I want to.

  38. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@Mrs. Blue: I'm sorry! How are you feeling physically? I have known many people who showed no progress and then went into labor a few days later or so. Keep the faith! What did your OB have to say?

  39. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

This girl is breech for sure. One leg up, one leg down. We are waiting to find out our schedule c-section date.

I would prefer things to be different, but have accepted this pretty quickly. Now I'm just focused on getting this freelance project finished. Going to try to push all other thoughts out of my head (is that possible?!) so I can then focus fully on preparing for babe.

  40. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@HappyBaker: @Happygal: Thanks, ladies! I'm still not even a 1 & I'm still at 60% effaced. Physically, I'm just tired because I keep having these Braxton hicks episodes, which are obviously not progressing anything but are just uncomfortable and keep me from sleeping. My doctor said this is the hardest time for people wanting to try a VBAC because you know you can say the work and have the baby next week. He gave me 3 options and was fine with any of them. (1) Let him know Monday that I want a c-section, and he can do it pretty much anyway next week. (2) Give it another week and get to my due date (almost) and see if I've made any progress and decide from there. (3). If I really am determined, I can go until 41 weeks, but then I have to have had the baby or have my c-section. I'm definitely not scheduling anything yet. I think I'll see how things are next week and then make a decision.
