Thanks everyone! The tech didn't mention a fetal pole, or anything other than the yolk sac. She wouldn't even let me see the monitor. I called my doc immediately following the appt, and asked about coming in for bloodwork. She said since they saw SOMETHING, that bloodwork wouldn't really tell her as much as waiting it out a week for another ultrasound.
In my efforts to make myself feel better, I am trying to look at facts. I definitely ovulated on CD17 or 18. And that would move my EDD to Jan 16....which would put me at 6w4d instead of 7w2d (based on my period).....so that's at least a LITTLE closer to what the tech said. I just wish that actually made me feel better......

@ValentineMommy: I know this next week will be so hard for you, but I am really hoping that it was just a little too early and that next ultrasound will show a healthy little bean.

@ValentineMommy: so sorry to hear that! But don't give up hope yet, it could definitely be a case of late implantation. And you could have ovulated later than you thought even though you had a positive opk, it could take 2 days after the LH surge to actually ovulate. I'll be praying for you!

@ValentineMommy: I'm so sorry
Don't give up hope yet, it sounds like there could have been late implantation going on. I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you

@ValentineMommy: so sorry to hear that! I really hope that the dates were wrong or it was late implantation. hugs for you

@ValentineMommy: It definitely could be late implantation. Sending all of my positive thoughts your way!

@LovelyPlum: Thank you, it worked first treatment cycle, my progesterone was so low it just wasn't allowing implantation.
@MOJ: I have the worst insomnia at the moment, just managed to have a nap this afternoon thank goodness.
@ValentineMommy: Really sorry to hear this, keeping everything crossed that it is to do with late implantation and maybe your dates being off a bit too, if you think you O'd CD18 based on OPKs you can actually O 36hrs after that and then if you implanted on 12dpo rather than 9 which is still in the normal range just not average that actually put you a total of 8 days behind the EDD based on LMP.

We had our ultrasound yesterday and baby is measuring ahead, so they changed my due date to January 9th.
I am surprised how the technology in my OB office has changed just in the last two years. They did the newer 3D ultrasound which was sort of creepy looking.
My next appointment will be a blood draw on June 11, and my first appointment with the doctor won't be until June 30. That seems like a crazy long time away!

@ValentineMommy: I went through this is February when I had a blighted ovum. It was so tough to be in limbo...almost easier when I actually had an answer. If it makes you feel better, I never had even a yolk sac in there so I would think that is a good sign. I agree with the doc about the bloodwork though. My HCG was still doubling the day I went in for my D&C so it really did more harm than good (gave me false hope). Hang in there!

@MrsTiger: That's great news!
@namaste: let us know how your appointment goes today!
8 days until my first appointment... not that I'm keeping track or anything
I'm nervous and excited at the same time.

@Radish: Well, we think about twins a lot . . . because we really are happy with only ONE set. I feel like this must just be one baby because this pregnancy is so different than my twin pregnancy, but I'm still on pins and needles waiting for my ultrasound. For the record, my pregnancy tests with the boys weren't crazy dark or anything.
@Pumuckl: So true about just handling whatever challenge you get. Whatever the situation and however many babies, it just becomes the new "normal" eventually.
@cheesehead: We're trying to decide what to do with the boys and the crib/bed situation, too. I'd love to leave them in cribs as long as possible because I feel like getting them to sleep will be a nightmare if they aren't stuck in bed and can't just play together, but on the other hand, we have to buy another crib if we don't transition them.

@Tidybee: The saw the OB this morning and she thinks it is a blighted ovum. Apparently, the tech told me she saw the yolk sac, but the report just says gestational sac. I'm so afraid.
Looks like I'm out of the group

@Radish: They're identical. They say they don't know what causes identical twins, and your chance of having another set of identical twins is only like 1 in 70,000, but we have plenty of fraternal twins in my family, too, so I don't feel like I'm totally in the clear there.

It is so hard not to stress about symptoms (or lack thereof, as the case is for me). I don't feel great (mostly really tired with sore boobs and a few food aversions, but no major nausea), but I don't feel anywhere close to how awful I felt last time, and I can't help but worry about whether I'm "sick" enough for everything to be okay. Ughhh. I need the next two weeks to fly by.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@Mrs. Blue: That is what I thought (I mean they look identical, but you can never assume). I have a fraternal twin, but my mom was on fertility treatments so I don't think I have any actual genetic likelihood. I just think it is possible I did ovulate multiple times this cycle because I had two different instances of breakthrough bleeding around ovulation.

@ValentineMommy: Oh no! So sad
@mfa_lady: Is it weird I'm all excited that you have your appointment tomorrow? FX!!!
I think I wrote a couple of pages back about the weird CMV virus B has (that virus that is only a cold but can be really harmful to unborns)? Well they tested me last week and it turns out I have no titer. Basically meaning I have never had the infection. Which means two things: a.) I don't have the infection currently - good news b.) I am not immune - not so good news. So this now means I have to use disposable gloves when changing diapers and have to be careful otherwise to not get in contact with my son's bodily fluids which sucks because that means no kisses etc. The professors at the hospital also suggested that I get a passive immunization done (which is basically a vaccine). I'll have to talk to my DH tonight (he's coming home early because it's a long weekend here! *yay*) and then we'll decide how to proceed.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Pumuckl: Aw, thank you, lady. I'm excited, too, but I'll also be glad when it's just here and over. DH keeps reminding me that everything is fine...but it's hard not to be scared!
Good luck deciding about the vaccine. I'll be thinking about you!

@MrsTiger: How exciting for you! Congrats!
@ValentineMommy: I'm so sorry to hear this news dear.
Sending you all of my thoughts and love today.
I just got back from my appointment. We did the U/S and the baby looks pretty good.
I'm on point with my due date for 1/1. (Hello New Year's baby) Our next appointment is for 6/25. I'm got a prescription for my MS since I've been so sick every day for the past week.

@namaste: Glad it went well!
@Pumuckl: Ugh, no baby kisses! Sad! Good luck deciding!

@namaste: So glad all went well, lady.
I know I'm a few days behind you, but if you don't mind answering, did you have a belly US or an internal one? I'm wondering what to expect tomorrow.

@ValentineMommy: I'm so, so sorry. Thoughts and prayers
I'm getting nervous about my appointment next week. I don't think I'll even get an ultrasound there, I didn't with LO#1 at the first appt - but the whole first trimester just makes me so antsy. I'm feeling pretty good these days, with just one or two intense waves of nausea/overheating each day (usually late afternoon or at night). So weird!
LO finally recovered from croup, only to start cutting his first molar - gah! DH got sick, but is on the mend. It's always something
How is everyone else feeling today?
persimmon / 1313 posts
@MrsTiger: @Mrs. Blue: Thank you ladies!
@mfa_lady: I had an internal one.
Yay for your appointment tomorrow!
@keepcalmcarrie: Ugh this first trimester thing is the worst. Looking forward to the second one. I got a 2.5 mile walk out this morning so I think that helped me feel better. Thus far, so good but I'm started to feel the exhaustion creep in.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: I'm sorry you're dealing with so many illnesses in your neck of the woods! Your family is lucky to have you taking care of them.
I am terrified about my appointment tomorrow--I was so looking forward to it, and now that it's almost here the only thing I can think of is last time. I'm really trying to clear my mind, but...MAN is it tough. I hope all goes well for you next week--I'll be thinking of you and waiting for an update!
As for today...I'm feeling okay. I work from home on Wednesdays, so I got to sleep in a little later than usual, which was amazing. I haven't been sleeping well, so in general I feel pretty good today. Which, in turn, makes me worry. Haha! My husband and I keep laughing about the "YAY! I feel like absolute crap!" sentiment I keep having. Oh, the joys.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@namaste: Thanks, girl! I was expecting internal. Honestly, if they tried to do abdominal I might even request internal. I need to SEE SOMETHING, you know? When we lost our first pregnancy, they started doing an abdominal and then the tech said "Um, let's do a transvaginal, I think we can "see better" that way...." So I have completely irrational and paralyzing fear of that happening again. I'll just be glad when it's tomorrow at 3pm!!
Also, I got so jealous when I read about your walk. Haha! We have two dogs and I love to walk them in our neighborhood...but I've been so tired! I can't wait to get back to it.
persimmon / 1313 posts
@mfa_lady: I think being able to SEE something definitely put me at ease. I don't know what I expected but it was good to clearly see the little bugger and the heartbeat.
UGH. Don't be jealous. I am so bummed out about being down on my fitness game lately. I was accustomed to doing long, extensive yoga and cardio. This walk made me feel like I climbed Mt. Everest which made me feel pitiful because it was nothing lol So vain! I'm normally so tired so I haven't done much of anything lately. I feel you 100%!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@namaste: You sound just like me! I had been doing hot yoga regularly (but only for about three months, after a long hiatus) and my midwife told me it probably wasn't ideal for me to continue. She said "Besides, you'll probably start getting lightheaded and nauseous in class soon anyway..." So, of course I did what she said and paused my membership to the studio--and I'd say she was right, since standing up from the couch basically makes me lightheaded and nauseous these days. Goodness knows what down dog in a hot room would do to me!
PS: THE SECOND TRI IS COMING. One day, we will return!
pomelo / 5791 posts
@Radish: They did a blood test today. I should get the results tomorrow. Depending on the results, they will either do a repeat blood test and/or ultrasound on friday. All the ob did today was basically talk about grieving though, so it clearly isn't going to be good.
