@Gigi2: That sounds rough, but they can not give you any crap about it. It isn't your fault your personal timeline aligned with others.

@JCCovi: congrats and welcome!
@Espion: Sorry your back is hurting you
@Pumuckl: good luck at your appointment tomorrow!
@mfa_lady: I'm really struggling with my wardrobe because of my bloating- thankfully I work at home so I don't have to worry about work clothes. But I can't justify buying new clothes that I'll grow out of in a few months. And who knows what size I'll be next summer!
@namaste: hope your sickness passes soon
@Gigi2: That's a lot of pregnant ladies in one place! And I agree with @Radish- not your fault that it happened, so don't let them make you feel bad.

@JCCovi: Welcome!
@namaste: *big hugs* I'm right there with you. During my first pregnancy when I couldn't hold anything down... I was on a strict diet of sprite and jolly ranchers. I'm still surprised I didn't get gestational diabetes!
@Gigi2: There must be something in the water at your work! You should bottle it and sell it. Hehe.

@Gigi2: When I accepted the position I'm starting at the end of this month (yes, I'm a lunatic), I told the HR person AFTER accepting that I'm pregnant. I wanted to know about the maternity benefits, etc, so that my husband and I could plan for what was to come. Even though she was probably like DANGIT, WOMAN!!!, she said "Well, you'll fit right in here. We're a fertile bunch!" I feel like it often happens that way at workplaces. Comes with the territory of hiring young, capable women!

Okay ladies, went to the doc's today and everything looks fine! Nice and strong heartbeat and all arms and legs are starting to develop. They pushed my due date back though because they measured the baby at 8+1w today (after it measured ahead 3w ago). So new due date is Jan 20th** . I don't mind since my first born was born at 41+2 (and his EDD had previously been pushed back by 5 days as well). So the later due date buys us more time to let things happen without an induction which they typically start on 41+3...

Just had my appointment with the nurse and got my initial labwork done! 10 vials of blood makes this feel a lot more real We'll also find out when our NT scan is by the end of this week.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@MrsTiger: 10 vials! Gah. I forgot that! Since I'd just had bloodwork done last fall, my midwife let me off the hook for some of the testing...so I only had to have 6 vials drawn. Can't wait for you to find out about your NT scan!
@Pumuckl: YAY! Glad all looks good.
In other news, I tried to put on one of my favorite pairs of not-so-stretchy jeans this morning and had unbuttoned them by about 30 seconds into breakfast. Ugh! I think I'm just going to give up and put a bunch of my non-stretchy stuff away.

@charmed: @mfa_lady: The first time around, I started wearing maternity clothes around this time (granted I had twins and was growing fast, but still). And I have never been so happy as the first time I put on maternity pants and leggings. They were so comfortable I seriously wandered why all women don't wear them all the time! I looked for mat. clothes last time that were made out of stretchier fabrics so I could wear them all the way from the bloating stage to the largely pregnant with two phase, and it worked pretty well with the exception of a couple of pieces. All this to say . . . I vote jumping into mat. clothes early!
That said, I'm still managing in my "fat clothes" from post-pregnancy when I finally gave up and got some clothes that fit me since I hadn't lost all my pregnancy weight, but the bloat is starting to make me long for my maternity leggings. I'm going to have to bust those out soon.

@mfa_lady: I feel vain for being bummed out about getting bigger. I'm not even 8 weeks yet, but I feel bigger already! I was already about 3-4 pounds over my ideal weight before getting pregnant, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it seemed to be all in my stomach.
I'm going today to talk to a trainer. My goal is to be healthy and strong, so hopefully getting into a good workout routine will help me accomplish that and feel better about myself!

I agree with @Mrs. Blue: - no point in putting off buying maternity pants. They are amazing. Last time I tried to use just the belly band for a while and once I had real maternity pants I was kicking myself for not getting them sooner. The full panel ones are the best.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Mrs. Blue: @Radish: oh yes, mat cloths are awesome. It was a real revelation last time once I started wearing mat jeans. I actually preferred the under belly ones in the early weeks.
So far there's no need for them for me yet as I'm still comfortable in normal cloths. I haven't gained any weight yet. I wish I had... I'm so weird...

Here's a pic from the u/s earlier today...
It was only 4 vials of blood for me today...

@Pumuckl: Looking good!! I'm glad you appointment went well. During my first pregnant I had a ton of blood drawn. I completely forgot. Not looking forward to it.
9 more days to my first appointment. All I want to do is see/hear the little heartbeat and I think all my worries will be at ease.

I might be a loner here but I hate maternity pants. I felt like once I was substantially showing, I totally spent all my time pulling them up they never seemed to stay up. Now, regular leggings that sit below the belly = the best.

Anyone else thirsty all the time? I'm guzzling water non-stop, and craving things like strawberries and fruit popsicles.
persimmon / 1096 posts
@Happygal: yesss - all I want is fruit and Outshine bars. And ginger snaps. And then tons of water.
And then to per every 15 minutes

@Pumuckl: Cute!
@mfa_lady: I've accepted defeat on a few things. Sigh! That's just an excuse to go shopping I think!
Thanks for all the well wishes! Yesterday I felt better and today I'm back down. I don't feel like I'm eating enough/keeping enough down. If it keeps up, I'll put in a call to my doctor. My prescription isn't helping at all now.

@Mrs. Blue: I feel so silly looking at maternity clothes right now! I ended up buying a couple pairs of shorts from old navy in a size up that should hold me over for awhile. For daily clothes, it's mostly my bras that don't fit right now, and I know my boobs are only going to get bigger so I'm trying to hold off a little longer.
@Happygal: yes, so thirsty! I have been craving lemon/citrus flavored things, and now fruit popsicles sound amazing.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Happygal: I feel vain, too. I have felt way too crappy to do any exercising, so that coupled with my exhaustion/carb-eating isn't doing me any favors, either. I'm looking forward to the second tri energy burst (please happen to me!!!!) that everybody talks about. My midwife said not to worry, I'd be fine once the first tri "survival mode" was over.
I haven't bought any maternity clothes yet, but I did buy two maxi dresses from Marshall's that I'm 99% positive will last me through the summer. They're jersey-ish material, and have empire waists. That's as close as I've come. We're going to Maine on vacation with my in-laws for week 13, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be living in those dresses and in workout clothes. The good news is, we're announcing to the whole family when we get there....so at least I won't have to hide it. If I look fat/feel fat/hate my clothes, everyone will know why--which is strangely comforting to me at this point (as I get dressed in the weirdest outfit ever to have dinner tonight with some friends from church....just because it fits/feels comfy. Ha!).

@Happygal: I wish I was thirstier! It's been really hard for me to drink enough. (Read: I'm pretty sure I'm not drinking enough.)
@keepcalmcarrie: Had my daily lime pop earlier this afternoon! Hahaha. Also, GINGER SNAPS. What a delicious idea.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@mfa_lady: Yeah, I wish I could drink more. I have been thirstier these past few days, but then the thought of it sitting on my stomach is so uncomfortable.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@mfa_lady: Drinking more might help you with feeling less crappy. At least it does for me... I'm never really thirsty but I still drink and on the days I don't I feel a lot crappier Just my experience though...
@Radish: Have you tried drinking in smaller increments? As in something like a glass a quarter/half hour evenly distributed? (Sorry if that makes no sense )
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Pumuckl: That's a good point. That's how it usually works in general life, right, so it's probably even more exaggerated during pregnancy! Like @Radish:, it kind of grosses me out. But perhaps I'll try your way--smaller amounts in frequent increments. Thanks!

@mfa_lady: Maxi dresses are wonderful! Hope you're feeling more comfortable today.

Boring appointment. Don't eat raw meat. No swordfish. Blah blah blah.
Only good thing is they're moving my nt scan up earlier in the week.
Oh and I'm starting this pregnancy off (not including the carb weight I've put on since my bfp) 15 pounds lighter than my last pregnancy. Yippee!

@oliviaoblivia: Aw, sorry it was boring--but glad you get to see your little bean earlier next week!

@oliviaoblivia: yay, glad you got good news. I'm also down 25lbs. from my last pregnancy.

@oliviaoblivia: I'm happy that you had a boring appointment! Boring is good, boring means nothing is wrong. Hehe. I'm glad you will see your bean next week.

@Pumuckl: Good for you! I was down 25 before we went away for Christmas and New Years...whoops.

Oh I wanted to mention I started spotting last night. I should be around 7 weeks. Not sure what it means. I didn't have cramps and it was only spotting last night. This morning I was brown spotting. I e-mailed my doctor to let her know but that was about it. I'm trying not to worry about it. I have an appointment next week so maybe she will just have me wait till then.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@Snowdrop: Thanks! My OBGYN just messaged me saying she will have her nurse schedule me an appointment asap. Should I be worried?!
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Raindrop: I had brown spotting at six weeks. So far so good for me. I know there are a lot of ladies here that have had successful pregnancies with spotting. Some with really heavy red bleeding. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@Raindrop: Hopefully it is nothing serious. I bet that she just wants to be on the safe side and also she may recognize that it is stressful on a pregnant woman to wait for answers.
