@Raindrop: Thinking of you, friend! I don't think you should be worried about them wanting to schedule an appointment--be glad that they're being proactive! Like @oliviaoblivia: said, lots of HB ladies have had spotting during successful pregnancies. Keep us updated!

@Raindrop: ui, glad they'll have you in for an appointment. FX it's nothing

@oliviaoblivia: @Radish: @mfa_lady: @Pumuckl: Thanks ladies!
I'm just waiting for the phone call to schedule an appointment.
Honestly I thought she would say, "normal don't worry". So I'm a little surprised she wanted to see me.

@Raindrop: Just dropping in as a December Mama, but so far I had spotting both pregnancies. They wanted to see me to check my cervix, do an u/s, and for me, I need a rhogam shot because I'm RH-negative. Do they know your blood type? If not, part of why they might want to see you is just to get your blood type so they can give you a rhogram shot! Both times the spotting was just because of an overly sensitive cervix and nothing to be concerned about! Hopefully the same is true for you!

@Adira: Thanks for dropping in to say that. I'm a bit on pins and needles waiting for the nurse to call.

@Raindrop: I hear you! For my first pregnancy, I was all over HB going "Am I having a miscarriage????" and many of the fine ladies talked me down and pointed out how many of them had spotting! But it wasn't until I got in and had the u/s that I felt better! And this time I wasn't as concerned because I had been through it before, but it is definitely nerve-wracking! I hope they get you in soon!

@Raindrop: that would make me worried, but I know there are lots of other women who've experienced this. Keep us updated--I'm glad you have a doctor who is fast at getting back with you and making sure everything is ok!

@oliviaoblivia: boring appointments are good! Congrats on the weight loss--that is something to be proud of.
I haven't had anyone go over all the "rules" with me yet. I've already accidentally broken a few.

I decided this morning to switch OB practices and I'm so happy with my decision! My husband thinks I'm a bit crazy and doesn't get why this was a big decision for me.
The only reason I wasn't going to see the doctor of my choice is b/c of the potential awkwardness--his one partner is my now former midwife. Bumping into her in the hallway is going to be uncomfortable, but I'll hopefully get over it. The thought of rotating through a bunch of doctors at a big practice and having no idea who would deliver the baby was bumming me out.
***So my next appointment is Monday. I have no idea what we'll cover, but it will probably be the boring stuff like @oliviaoblivia:'s appt. today.

@Happygal: I"m glad you're excited about your decision! It really sounds like the best choice.

Holy moly, guys...I just bought my first-ever maternity clothes.
I'm in a wedding in October, and the bride is letting us pick out anything we want in the pale green/mint/pale blue/aqua family. She wanted us to pick something and send her a pic by the beginning of July, but I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on a maternity dress super early. AND I couldn't find anything I liked. Well, I was browsing ASOS today and found two dresses that are cute enough to work...so I bought both and will see what I like in person and send the other back. I'm going to use the dress to announce to her, I think...I want to call her and say "Oh! I want to send you a pic of my bridesmaid dress for your wedding! Open up your email and let me know what you think..." and then she'll see it's a maternity dress! Is that dumb? I kind of think it will be fun.
Here are the dresses:

@mfa_lady: that sounds like a cute way to tell her (assuming she will react well lol!!). I Ilove the second one!

@mfa_lady: Oh, cute! I love the second one! I think that is exactly how I would tell her, because I am not good at being direct about letting people know, haha.

@sorrycharlie: Haha, I hope she'll react well! I'm still going to be there, after all...just a little rounder than usual!
The second one is my favorite, too. The first one is cute but I'm worried it's going to be WAY too much fabric in person. We'll see!

@Radish: That's so funny--I still feel weird saying "I'm pregnant." I don't know, it just feels funny! Totally get it.

@mfa_lady: very cute idea!
I wasn't expecting it to be kind of weird telling people. Today I met two really good friends for coffee and told my husband that I was going to tell them. I didn't though--it just didn't feel like the right time or place! He laughed when I came home b/c he said he knew I would end up not saying anything.

@mfa_lady: Exciting! That's exactly how I told my BFF during my last pregnancy!

@Happygal: isn't it scary sometimes how our SO seem to know us better than we know ourselves... I haven't really told anyone I'm pregnant yet either. Somehow I managed to tell the few people that know without using those words... Weird right?
@mfa_lady: love the second dress as well. Although the first one might be really cute IRL.
@Happygal: glad you feel better about the new practice.

@Happygal: It's good that you are going somewhere you are comfortable! I hope you have a boring appointment!
@mfa_lady: I think the second dress is super cute! But that's my own personal taste. The first dress is very nice also. I love the length and color of both!

I got called by the nurse finally! I have an appointment today at 3:30 pm (about 3.25 hours away from now, I'm on the west coast). I'll keep you guys up to date. I e-mailed my hubs to let him know what's going on.
It's kind of bad. I didn't tell him about the pink discharge last night but now I wish I did.

@Raindrop: I'm sure all is well! keep us posted..will be thinking of you!

@Raindrop: I had spotting with my first pregnancy too. Thoroughly flipped me out, but it turned out that it was because I was lifting heavy boxes. (Or, at least, that was the only plausible explanation we could think of.) There are SO many stories on HB of spotting in pregnancy. I'm glad you are getting seen. You'll be fine, mama!

@Raindrop: hope everything goes well for you at the appointment, and that the doctor is just being extra careful.
@mfa_lady: I think that's a sweet way to let your friend know, and both those dresses are cute!

@Raindrop: good luck! I hope it all ends up being reassuring. thinking of you!
@mfa_lady: I like the plan!
I had my 2nd appt yesterday - all looks good, although measuring 2-3 days behind where she thought I'd be, but dr said she's not worried (I probably o'd a little on the late side). Saw the heartbeat which was amazing/surreal. I'm having some weird feelings about everything the past couple days - feeling totally overwhelmed by it all and not ready to share my excitement/talk about it really with anyone other than my husband. MIL wants to talk to me all.the.time, which is nice, she means well, but I just can't muster up the excitement and details right now. I feel guilty

@oliviaoblivia: The first appointment is pretty boring but I'm glad it went well!
@Raindrop: Thinking of you! I've read lots of stories of spotting but I'm glad you were able to get an appointment so soon!
@mfa_lady: I absolutely adore the second one! I'll be attending a wedding in July and even though I'll be about 15 weeks, I just saw the bride last week and she had no idea. I'm sure she'll be surprised I was ASOS window shopping as well. Should pull the trigger soon!
@Happygal: Hahaha, you are me. I'm having dinner with two very good girlfriends at a local Japanese/Korean place and I think I'll tell them, and explain why I'm having no raw sushi or wine.
@Gigi2: Aww I do feel weird about it at times as well. My SIL is way more excited than I am lol. Hope you get some time to figure things out!

@Raindrop: good luck - will be thinking of you all afternoon.
@mfa_lady: love love the second one. I am officiating a wedding in October and I have NO idea what I will wear. (What do you wear in that situation even when not pregnant?!?) haven't told the bride yet, but that is a cute idea - may steal it from you

Guys at the hospital waiting now they asked me to pee and a lot of dark blood and stuff can out when I wiped. Waiting for the OB to see me.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Raindrop: oh no I am hoping it is okay. I know many users had a lot of bleeding but had healthy pregnancies!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Raindrop: Dark like brown? Because that would mean it's old. Bright red is the worry (and the spotting I had this time around actually was bright red). Keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything is okay!

Sorry for scaring everyone! Just finished. I am fine. Baby is measuring exactly 7 weeks with a strong heartbeat which puts exactly at Jan 29/30. Everything looks great. OB told me to take it easy and she has a follow up next week which is my original longer appointment.
blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts
@Raindrop: thank goodness. So so happy to hear. Did they have any explanation/theories for the cause of the bleeding??

@Raindrop: phew! Glad to hear the good news, all that scary business won't do from my due date twin
nectarine / 2079 posts
@Raindrop: So glad everything is looking good in there!
@Gigi2: Yay for seeing the heartbeat! It is nice for pregnancy to be private, so many people have opinions on it that their thoughts and comments tend to be unhelpful and add to the stress.

@Raindrop: great news! What a cute little bean!
@namaste: it was actually my third appointment. Kind of redundant but good to catch up with my OB, I like her a lot.

@Raindrop: Yay!
@oliviaoblivia: haha my confusion! Your OB sounds lovely. My OB seemed sort of over it lol but understood since the practice just lost another partner.
