Ha! I'm wondering if the Chinese gender prediction charts are right?
I haven't felt much movement, so I looked real quick on our office ultrasound and saw the little beany blob moving around. Thank goodness! I couldn't see much, because I didn't have the right probe, but it helped to even see a blurry bit. Can't wait to see this kid for real in 3 weeks. Seems like so far away!

@mfa_lady: your intuition was dead on!!! Congratulations on a sweet baby girl.
@Espion: that Chinese gender chart sure does seem to be right most of the time! I think it was wrong for @oliviaoblivia: though right? Said boy?
pineapple / 12793 posts
@MrsMccarthy: yup. Said boy for this pregnancy and for my first daughter as well.

Thanks, everyone! We are so thrilled. I was in a rush to update yesterday, but we actually have to go back for another ultrasound on 9/15 because 1) baby girl was SO uncooperative and balled up the entire time that they want to see her heart again when she gets a little bigger, and 2) I have a low-lying placenta that they want to keep an eye on.
The doctor assured me that everything they measured looked great, she just wouldn't give us the best look at her heart. And as for the low-lying placenta, he said it almost always corrects itself and he just wanted to check it again in a month. Soo....we get to see her again on September 15th!

@mfa_lady: Glad that there are no real concerns and you get to see her again so soon!

@mfa_lady: yay for another ultrasound! haha I had a few growth scans for my daughter, they were concerned she was too small. I knew she was fine so I was secretly psyched to get to see her again

@mfa_lady: Congrats! A growing list of baby girls. Wow. That's so fun!
My doctor's appt. was good yesterday. He just was chatting with me, nothing examined, and I was almost out the door when he said, "So you're feeling movement consistently now." I don't know if I've felt the baby move at all. I only had 5 seconds to be concerned b/c he said he wanted to listen to the heartbeat. It was there, nice and strong. He also pulled out his tiny measuring tape and measured my stomach--that was funny to me for some reason.
So now I'm wondering if I'm just not paying attention to what's going on, or is my body set up to where I'm going to feel it a little later than others?
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Happygal: I wouldn't worry. My OB told me with both pregnancies not to expect movement til after 22 weeks! I felt it earlier both times (second time a LOT earlier), but after 22 weeks is considered totally normal.

@sorrycharlie: thanks. This is a rare instance where the internet actually helped me to not feel concerned. I had seen the post here earlier asking about when people felt movement and saw there was a wide range. So I guess I was just more surprised that my doctor was surprised! I am excited and ready to feel the baby move around.
How are you doing? You have had quite the summer!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Happygal: the bright side is that when you do feel movement, it'll be totally obvious because the baby will be bigger!
thanks for asking! I started on lexapro again (a low dose), and feel like myself again. It sounds so cliche..but man. So much happier. And was put on claritin and flonase for the rhinitis, which also made a huge difference!! haha. I'm over the moon to feel normal again, in every way we had a huge car repair bill ($535) this week after replacing the dryer ($400) and my car engine light just came on, but I'm not even freaking out about it. lol!

@Happygal: How many weeks are you? I am only just starting to feel anything and I'll be 20 weeks on Thursday. I still have days where I feel nothing and freak out. Its also still so subtle that I can't even be 100% sure its the baby.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@Happygal: I can't feel anything either, and I'm right behind you on weeks. I think it wasn't until a solid 20+ weeks that I was able to feel things for certain with my first.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@Happygal: I haven't felt anything either, I'm 17.5 weeks. I didn't feel anything until 22 weeks with #1 because of an anterior placenta. And I have the same with this one.

@Happygal: glad your doctor's appointment went well!
@sorrycharlie: hooray for feeling normal again!
I had a great anniversary weekend with DH! Pregnancy fatigue was definitely getting to me yesterday though - I had to take a break and sit down after a couple hours of shopping; all the walking wore me out!
Hope everyone else is doing well!

@mfa_lady: yay, for the good news. I bet little lady just knew you didn't want to wait too long until you can see her again - so she was helping with that! I had a low anterior placenta with my first and again have a rather low (not quite as low) anterior placenta this time. It resolved itself and pulled itself up.
@charmed: yay, for a great anniversary trip!
@Happygal: I second the others - don't worry about movement - there are so many factors influencing that and hardly any are in your control!
On my side there's not too much new to report, I'm feeling little lady move around a lot these days which is sometimes quite distracting at work Other than that we had a great long weekend (we had another holiday weekend here) with a big hiking tour yesterday that turned out to be more strenous than I had anticipated but we managed ok. Somehow an over 1,300ft elevation gain is a lot more strenous when your pregnant - duh oh.

@Radish: Aw thanks for checking on me! We were on vacation so I was enjoying some R&R with DH and LO1. Anatomy scan tomorrow and we've decided to be Team Green this round.
Hope all is well with the group! I felt movement around 17/18 weeks the first time but I really haven't felt any distinct baby movements yet this time (midway through week 18). Although I don't get much time to sit down these days chasing LO1 around.

@MapleMoose: Ooo vacation, nice. Hope your scan goes well tomorrow and kudos for going . I hope that baby starts making some big movements for you soon!

@oliviaoblivia: You've got time girl! Maybe a name you really like will grow on him?
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@oliviaoblivia: Girl names are HARD!!!!! What are some that you like that your DH has vetoed? Maybe if we know, we can help you come up with some more!
pineapple / 12793 posts
@mfa_lady: @MapleMoose: every time I get him to agree that he likes a name if I bring it up again he hates it. So frustrating.
DD1 is Lavinia. It was the only many we agreed on. I'm Spanish and DH is English. We wanted a name that would be easy in either language. Also a name that is unique. Not in the top 100.
I really liked Camilla using Mila as the nickname. DH was on board and now thinks it's an awful name.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@oliviaoblivia: Isn't it so frustrating how they do that? Love your DD1's name. I will be brainstorming on your behalf!

I am so delinquent on this board but had to add myself to team boy! I am a little sad not to reuse LO's girl clothes but I'm sure that will be made up for with all the new boy clothes and bedding to find
persimmon / 1177 posts
@oliviaoblivia: sorry! My DH was doing the same thing, but now when I mention names he's vetoed before he's like "oh I like that"
Maybe bring up the names you like in another couple weeks and he'll change his mind again?
@bhbee: Congrats! Yay for another boy in our group!
