@Mrs. Blue: That's what I read--that until the end of the 1st tri they tend to be super fast. Those little babes are workin' hard to grow! I'm just trying to keep myself busy until Friday, when I actually find out one way or another!!

@Mrs. Confetti: Girl, I am RIGHT there with you. I feel like the next two days (OMG I JUST REALIZED MY ANATOMY SCAN IS LITERALLY 48 HOURS FROM RIGHT NOW) are going to move as slow as molasses. Holy moly.

Thought I'd join in on the check-in, too! Have been trying to be better about keeping up to speed

    Weeks: 17 weeks!
Weight gain: 2-3 lbs, depending on the day!
Stretch marks: not so far, eek
Maternity clothes: bought one pair of shorts that DH promptly made fun of because they are "too long" and "like mom jeans" but otherwise none so far, hoping I can get into fall with just my looser tops and squeezing into work clothes!
Memorable moment: hmm - love seeing her on u/s every chance I get, but nothing too crazy so far.
Miss anything: riding my horse! I hate hate not being able to ride, but so worth it in the end for healthy, safe little one
    Food cravings: cereal and tomatoes!
Symptoms: feeling good in 2nd tri! some heartburn here and there, but mostly good
Looking forward to: actually getting a cute bump and looking/feeling pregnant rather than this awkward in between phase of just seeming kind of fat! seeing her at next appt on 9/4!

    Wishing you all well

@mfa_lady: gahhhhh so excited and so jealous! I have a MONTH of waiting, basically. these 2 days will fly and you can celebrate all weekend

@Gigi2: Good luck on your appointment.

@Mrs. Confetti: I'm always glad to hear the heartbeat too. I guess my hospital is weird they always announce the heartbeat rate so I can do a good comparison to my last one. LO (Boy) always had a heartbeat over 160. My OB says the old wives tale is untrue because the heartbeat is about how active the baby is when you happen to take the heartbeat. So if it's sleeping it's going to have a slower heartbeat than if it's awake.

@Mrs. Confetti: Thanks, lady! Originally, my scan wasn't supposed to be until NEXT Thursday...but DH is out of town for work next week so we got it moved up! I'm so glad that accidentally happened with his schedule. Haha!

@Raindrop: Your OB is a genius. How come I never thought of that before? Oh, wait, because I'm too busy obsessing over things like old wives tales because somehow that makes me worry less. Hahaha!

@Raindrop: That makes sense! And it also explains why my boys' hearts were always racing. They're not even still in their sleep, so I can't imagine what they were doing in utero!

@Mrs. Confetti: prenatal massage sounds dreamy! Have you had one before? What are your plans for your babymoon? Glad you had a good appointment today!

@PMRLady: Beautiful munchkin! Have you thought of names yet?

@MFA_Lady: I need some pants, but noticed those from the GAP don't have back pockets. Do they make your butt look flat? Sometimes that happens to me, although my ass seems to be growing outwards along with my belly.

@mrs. Blue: no coffee is totally a sad symptom. Does it make you queasy? I'm sad for you. How did your appointment go?

@OliviaOblivia: yeah! I'm glad insomnia has decided to give it a rest. Have you thought (sorry if you've already shared) girl names? Does your #1 baby girl seem to have any idea about what is going on?

@Cupcake: not craving DH, sadly....I heard that happens and it would be his favorite pregnancy symptom in the world if it did!

@Raindrop: -12? So sorry! Is it from morning sickness or GD stuff? Whoops--just saw your reply (I'm reading and replying as I go along.) I hope the morning sickness eases up very soon for you. Or just goes away all together!

@Meowkers: congrats on a little girl! This is such a pink due date club.

@Mrs. Blue: yeah for a VBAC supportive OB! Is there anything you'll be doing to prepare for that?

@Espion: carbs are one of my favorite food groups! Seriously don't know how people live without them. Were you team green before? I want to hear about that experience if so!

@Gigi2: Cheerios with bananas has been a good meal for me. Have you been riding for a long time? There are lots of horse people where I live. Beautiful animals (but they scare me a little bit!)

@Happygal: Coffee makes me projectile vomit. I do not exaggerate...PROJECTILE. I learned my lesson the hard way to not tempt fate with coffee during my pregnancies. So weird and sad since I'm a coffeeholic. Appt went great! I really liked the doctor.

  10. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@Mrs. Blue: crazy. Is it like a heartburn/acidic thing? Does it smell good to you still? First trimester, just one cup was fine. Now I find that I'm wanting more, so I'm a little sad about that.

  11. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@Happygal: I don't think it's an acid thing. I think it's just a pregnancy quirk. It doesn't smell good to me like it usually does. I can have a few sips and then I literally have to RUN and try to make it to a toilet. It's like a hyped-up food aversion/morning sickness that last the whole 9 months. Thankfully, last time, I could drink coffee with no problem within days of delivering, so at least I can rely on the caffeine in the newborn days.

  12. Happygal

    Weeks: 16 weeks, 5 days.

Weight gain: I'll know on Friday at my next appt., but it feels minimal. My appetite is growing, so I'm expecting some faster weight gain to take place soon!

    Stretch marks: None yet.

Maternity clothes: borrowing some from a friend. I don't fill out the maternity pants yet, so they feel awkward. Need to get some in-between work pants and stretchy skirts. And bras--my cup runneth over and it's ridiculous looking!

Memorable moment: Both ultrasounds have been amazing. I loved telling my close friends and family who know what we went through to get here--great reactions. And the first stranger to ask about my belly was fun!

Miss anything: I would be ok with no caffeine limits.

Food cravings: hmm.....nothing persistent. I've enjoyed Jolly Ranchers, juicy fruit, and when I know what I want for dinner, nothing else will do.

Symptoms: waking up with back/hip pain, but our mattress is seriously the pits. That's about it. Oh no, that's a lie. I have a bladder the size of a pea, so I feel like I have to pee all the time. Then I worry it's a UTI. Annoying.

Looking forward to: feeling the baby move. Finding out the sex, although just the other day, my husband said he could be convinced to be team green. Team greeners, this is your moment to convert me!

@Radish: thanks for checking in! Been busy with my new job and haven't had time to check this thread lately. 16 weeks 2 days! I've gained so much weight already - about 20 lbs. Might explain the back pain that I'm experiencing and the heartburn. A bit depressing to see all the low weight gain of the ladies on this board. Next OB appointment is Aug 21. I'm encouraged by all the expected girls! I would really like a girl this time so can't wait to find out at the anatomy scan (to be scheduled).

@NerdBee: No worries - just know you aren't forgotten. I've been having some back pain this week. I don't know if it is sleep, pregnancy in general or how I've been sitting, but it sucks. I wouldn't stress over the weight gain, every woman's body is different. I could also be underestimating because I don't know my starting weight.

@oliviaoblivia: Ugh, no kitchen is the worst! We gutted and redid ours a year and a half ago and I think I was without a full kitchen for 2 months (stove, no sink or sink, no stove, fridge in the living room, etc)

@Cupcake: I've been "craving DH" (hehe, love that!) more than usual, but I am usually too tired to do anything about it

@Mrs. Blue: @Mrs. Confetti: glad your appointments went well!

@mfa_lady: less than 48 hours!! Excited for you!!

Our wedding anniversary is this weekend, and DH just surprised me with my present - a weekend in Chicago! We're going to the zoo (haven't been there since I was 10) and planning lots of shopping. Really looking forward to a mini-vacation.

  16. Mrs. Confetti

    blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts

@charmed: yay for visiting Chi! It is the best! Wall me if you want any recs for restaurants or stuff to do

@Happygal: also craving baby movement. Prenatal massage for me has been equal parts amazing and painful, especially this time with the sciatic pain. Last time, I had three in the 2 weeks I was overdue, trying to induce labor (to no avail). If you can find a place with the belly hole in the table, it is AMAZING. Totally pumped for the baby moon. Trusting DH with all planning so honestly all I know is destination (Maine, NH).

@Happygal: no names yet. We used the only girl named (actually the only make) we agreed on on dd. It's so tough naming babies.

@charmed: two months sounds awful! We're only two weeks in and thankfully have the old tiny kitchen to use while waiting on the big kitchen install.

  18. Raindrop

    grapefruit / 4731 posts

@Happygal: Hey lady! Good to hear from you. Yeah GD actually has caused me not to loose as much as my first. If I didn't have GD I would seriously eat like 2 crackers or a blow of mac and cheese and call that good and go to bed. It's totally morning sickness. Bummers about the back and hip pain... have you tried those big pregnancy pillows where it wraps around you head and then in between your legs? It's suppose to help support you while you sleep and lessen back and hip pain.

  19. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@Mrs. Blue: I see. Can you tell that I'm concerned about this for you? Glad you are able to consume it for the newborn days! Do you have a final day set at work, or will you work as long as you can?

@charmed: an early happy anniversary to you! What number is this? Do you guys exchange gifts?

@Mrs. Confetti: I think there are a few places that offer prenatal massage in town. I'm glad it's helpful to you! I'm going to put off having one until I'm a little further along b/c I can see loving it so much that I would want to go all the time.

@Raindrop: no, I haven't tried the pillow yet. I've heard mixed reviews about them. I really think/hope it's more of a mattress problem. I thought I was being so clever buying one off the internet about 4-5 years ago and getting a good price. It's an innerspring mattress and it's totally shot. Creaky and concave. I hate it, but man, mattresses are expensive!

  20. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Happygal: @Raindrop: What actually helps me with the little back pain I have is to sleep with my duvet pulled in between my legs if that makes sense. A pillow would be too much.

@mfa_lady: Just one more day! Yay...

@Mrs. Confetti: Sorry your wait it is soooo long. Hopefully baby movements starts soon as some sort of compensation.

@NerdBee: Glad to hear everything is going well!

    persimmon / 1177 posts

@Mrs. Confetti: I'll have to see if DH has dinner planned yet, if not I'll definitely hit you up for suggestions. Thanks!

@Happygal: it will be 6 years! We don't normally exchange gifts- it's more like DH will want a new watch or something for his car and I'll "buy" it for him for our anniversary; or we'll need something big for the house and make it our anniversary "gift" to each other. So the weekend trip was a really nice surprise!

@Radish: Thanks for the check-in! I've just been super swamped at work lately. Ugh. Doing ok over here, MS is still in full swing, although I have been able to back down to just 1 or 2 zofran a day now!! It's so exciting seeing all the anatomy scans already; I'm pretty sure I will be one of the last ones to get it done, my Dr. won't let us get them done before 20wks, so mine won't be until after Sept 11...boo! I've been contemplating not finding out, but in reality I won't be able to wait; especially when I have a chance to find out!!

This thread has really picked up lately! I can't keep up!

Now that we know we're having a BOY we are hard core talking about names. Boy names are so much harder for us to agree on for some reason! Favorites right now are -
    Logan
    Mac / Mack
    Sam (Samuel)
    Will (William)

@mfa_lady: So excited for you for tomorrow!

  27. namaste

@MrsTiger: Girl! Great name choices! William and Samuel are family names for me, so I love both. And my BFF just had a baby boy named Mac this year! Such good picks.

When I click on our DDC, it doesn't go automatically to the last post I've read anymore. Is that happening to anyone else? Does that occur when a thread gets long? I've gotten spoiled and really like that feature, especially for fast moving threads like this one.

  30. Raindrop

    grapefruit / 4731 posts

@Happygal: I noticed in some threads it doesn't seem to work but in general it still works. Sometimes it takes a minute or two to load you in your last read spot.

@Radish: You're too sweet! I can hardly believe it. I heard the heartbeat at an appointment yesterday, but my practice does "Centering Pregnancy" (group prenatal care) and so from now on I get the HB in kind of a crazy room full of people, which is an adjustment. Haha. So, I'm super excited to have a little peace and quiet with the babe today! Will update as soon as I know!

  36. Radish

@mfa_lady: Yeah, that is such a weird thing to do. But honestly, I would take anything over waiting over an hour to see my doctor which is like the standard now. I'll be checking this thread often once you have our appointment!
