@happygal: wow 40% off at loft! i see some purchases in my future.
does anyone have any mat clothes from loft? i am wondering how the sizing runs.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@SleepyMonkey: I got some on super clearance. They're pretty true to size--I can usually wear an XS or S from there, depending mostly on length (sometimes XS stuff is too short), and I got S in maternity stuff to be safe. It fits nicely--and also leaves a little room to grow. Happy shopping!

@cheesehead: ahhh congrats on your baby boy! How funny that the boys on your boards are now on a little streak. I wonder what your team greeners will have.
cherry / 134 posts
@Radish: I was thinking boy, but my husband was saying girl. It was kinda funny, after the ultrasound he asked "are you sure it's a boy, isn't there a chance it was just the umbilical cord or something" hahaha....I was like, there is a chance buuut it was pretty obviously a boy!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@mfa_lady: i just bought 3 sweaters and a pair of jeans. LO #1 was born at the end of October so i have no winter clothes...also wondering what to do for a winter coat. i really don't want to spend money on a coat i'm going to wear for 2 months!
@Radish: i wonder if it'll all end up equal at the end!

@cheesehead: we text one of our friends the pic and he said 'is that his penis?!' In a shocked voice...yeah, no that is his leg! Congrats on your boy too!!!

@Snowdrop: hahaha! That's awesome! I haven't gotten a chance to look at my ultrasound pictures yet.

@SleepyMonkey: I was just browsing through Zulily and they had a deal on maternity winter coats and I realized I will need to get something. Not from Zulily because of the no return policy. But I agree with you, such a waste to buy something and only wear it for a few weeks.

@MapleMoose: @SleepyMonkey: Yay for warmer climates. I can get away with just layering a little, no coat needed.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@MapleMoose: i am seriously thinking of just using my regular coats and buttoning the top few buttons, leaving it unzipped, and letting my belly poke out...
@Radish: hmm. so random, but i wonder if people that live in more consistent climates spend less money on clothes. i've never thought about this before.
pear / 1846 posts
@SleepyMonkey: I live in England and most of my clothes are year round. It is mostly a case of just add a coat and boots for winter.
cherry / 134 posts
@SleepyMonkey: @MapleMoose: I ended up just wearing my regular coat all winter with my first, just unbuttoned the bottom button or 2. I had him in early March and live in Wisconsin, that's my plan again this time around. Now to just keep my fingers crossed that the 50°weather we have now is just temporary!

@cheesehead: yeah! Congrats!!
I couldn't pull the trigger for a LOFT purchase. I hate paying for shipping. Throw in tax on top of that, and my great deal didn't seem so great! Would love to hear other maternity clothing line options out there that have worked well for others.
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@Radish: You lucky lady! I have different sets of clothing and shoes for each season in addition to layering.
@SleepyMonkey: @cheesehead: Hmm... Good idea. I'll have to see what I have for button down coats. My go-to middle-of-winter coat has a zipper. Might have to layer with a scarf if I can't close it.

@Happygal: i bought a lot of stuff at motherhood maternity a couple years ago, i went when they were having a big sale. i have a pair of gap maternity pants that i really like and wear to work...they have 30% sales sometimes and free shipping over $50, so you have to keep checking back. i know asos and old navy are popular on these boards and have huge selections, but i haven't bought anything from either place. old navy has 20-25% days pretty often and also free shipping >$50.

@Happygal: Almost all my clothes from last pregnancy were clearance from Kohls and JcPenney - mostly my work wardrobe. I got dress pants for like $5. I bought jean shorts from motherhood maternity and have worn them the most (postpartum as well) but they were also my priciest purchases. I bought some jeans from Old Navy this time and they fit alright, but seem to have less give in the jean fabric than the motherhood maternity shorts.

Good morning! I had another ultrasound this morning (the one I had to have because baby girl was so uncooperative last month, ha!) and all looked good. My dad went with me, because my husband had a class for work that he couldn't get out of, so that was hilarious. My dad is quite a character and was entertaining everyone.
We saw everything we needed to see this time, and it was pretty wild to see her move on the screen and feel it at the same time. Also, she seemed huge already compared to 4 weeks ago! She's head down for the time being, and weighs 1lb 9oz, which is apparently right at 50th percentile. Go, baby girl, go! My low-lying placenta also seems to have moved up a bit. Woo hoo!
How's everybody's Monday?
nectarine / 2079 posts
@mfa_lady: How exciting! That is awesome about the placenta. I have no idea if I'll get another peek at this baby - not sure how my new doctors office operates.

@mfa_lady: good news on the placenta! How nice for your dad to get to see that
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@mfa_lady: Yeah about the placenta!! Your dad sounds like the prefect person to have gone with you.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Radish: Thanks, lady! If baby girl hadn't been so completely uncooperative the first time, our 20-week US would have been the last one. Unless they need to check something specific, that's usually the last one at my practice. Crazy to think we have to wait until January...and crazy to think how close that actually is getting.
@Snowdrop: @Raindrop: Thank you!! It was hysterical having my dad there. He made the tech (who I feel like is my BFF by now--she's done all my USs for our MC and this pregnancy) double check that it's a girl. She assured him that it was, haha.

@mfa_lady: My old doctor does routine 28 week ultrasounds which is awesome. Nice little confirm sex again and see everything looking good.

@Happygal: Motherhood is where I got a few pieces, luckily they have an outlet nearby. I also just got some shirts from ASOS.
@mfa_lady: Congrats on the good appointment! So glad you're doing well and your placenta is well placed. (Put that on the list of things I thought I'd never say!)
@cheesehead: Congrats on your boy!
I'm feeling extra stuffy and tired but still in good spirits! We moved my first baby shower up to Nov. 2nd so I'm in invite design mode to get everything to the printers and in the mail on time. Hope you ladies are well!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@namaste: Oh, isn't it lovely the things we say/think about/talk about now that we're pregnant? Lovely, weird...tomato, to-mah-to.
So fun to have your shower so close! Looks like mine are going to be on November 16th and November 22nd...I can hardly believe that's in two months!
persimmon / 1313 posts
@mfa_lady: haha totally. It was originally going to be on the 16th but my bff who is hosting is singing in a debut concert on the 15th and she definitely needs to focus on that! My second will be on the 29th which puts all of my family in one place!
We also have to register this weekend since it's our last free weekend for quite some time. I wish my schedule would slow down!
persimmon / 1177 posts
@mfa_lady: glad you're ultrasound went well, and baby was cooperative this time!
@Happygal: My clothes are mostly from Old Navy/Gap, with some Motherhood/Kohl's jeans. Got a couple tops from Target on clearance last week too.
@namaste: we're going to register this weekend too! DH is excited, but I don't think he realizes it's not going to be as fun as registering for our wedding
I am having a terrible time find maternity jeans that A) don't fall down constantly and B) aren't too long.
I'm 5-4", and non-pregnant I wear regular length jeans, no problem. But all the maternity jeans I've bought/tried on so far are way too long. (some would be ok with heels, but that is not happening- flats all the way while I'm pregnant! )
Any recommendations for shorter length maternity jeans that don't cost a ton of money?
pineapple / 12793 posts
@cheesehead: I'm amazed you were able to make it through a Wisconsin winter without a maternity boat! DD1 was born in Toronto in January and I put grew my maternity coat. This time I have a convertible baby wearing/maternity coat.
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@charmed: do you have a dry cleaner or tailor who will hem pretty cheaply? I'm about 5'2" so used to shortening everything. For my first LO I didn't hem anything but it just drove me crazy or looked sloppy. I just invested in having my old maternity jeans hemmed and so worth it! My Old Navy ones still fall down though - I think they only fit well in 3rd tri. can you try a size down? I have some Loft pants with a tighter panel that stay up better but may not work when I get really big.
@oliviaoblivia: I'm amazed too! I gave in a bought one around the end of October I think (living in Boston) and definitely got good use out of it for a January baby. I bought it big which worked out well. this time in TX I really may not need it depending how winter goes, could definitely see sweaters plus an unzipped vest working here.
