@Radish: Name decisions are driving me crazy. We cannot agree on anything! I want a name ASAP and DH thinks we can wait until we are in the delivery room!

@mfa_lady: Two solid options are better than none! I wouldn't feel swayed by family ties myself, I would just go with the name we picture our child being.

    @sorrycharlie: I'll pick for you

@MrsHansen82: That would drive me nuts. My husband wasn't a lot of help with naming LO1 - it never seemed like a priority to him.

@Radish: That's why our current plan is to wait until she gets here and make a game-time pick! We really like both (both good names, both have good nicknames, etc) but just can't pick yet. Haha. I have a friend who had two possible names picked out for her son and then woke up one morning and had had a very vivid dream of calling him one of them. She was like "Well, okay, that's his name!" I kind of hope I'll get a clear sign like that!

@mfa_lady: if you both love both, you are set! I wish I had a name I loved.

@Radish: we had a name that we both really like but aren't in love with it like I am in love with lo#1 name. so we are brainstorming again.

@Radish: We are down to a first name (ish?) but the middle name situation is a mess. DH really likes Cadence and Camilla for some reason and I could do without either.

Today's appointment went lovely! I think my ultrasound tech is a little rough but it's definitely not as bad as my last scan. We got to see her hanging out and her head is down. However, she does have a two-vessel umbilical cord and now I'm googling the hell out of that. The doctor says it's fine which I'm sure it is and that it happens often. Since her scans are pretty good, they don't think it's significant of anything else being wrong.

Also we're all registered and that was a nightmare but I feel good about what we put on our registry. It's small and concise.

@namaste: Wow, two-vessel umbilical cord sounds scary! But I just goggled it too. It seems pretty normal and a lot of people said their babies turned out fine. It sounds like you will get some extra u/s for stress testing. Good luck! Glad to hear otherwise it was a good u/s.

  8. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

@namaste: I have heard of quite a few people who have only 2 vessels and as far as I know none of them ever had a complication.

@Radish: we have a list of names, but none of them are really feeling like "the one".

Appointment went ok this morning, baby's heartbeat was great. But, it was the first time the Dr. did a belly measurement, and according to that baby is measuring 4 weeks ahead! He said we'll keep on eye on it, but since baby's size was on track in my previous ultrasounds, it's probably due to "extra tissue" (i.e. my belly fat).
That's exactly what I needed to hear this morning. I know I could stand to lose 10-15 pounds, but it's not like I'm obese or carry a huge amount of extra weight in my belly. And apparently my weight gain so far is in the "normal" range. So now I keep going back and forth from "baby is too big and something is wrong" and worrying about my overly fat belly.

@charmed: Don't worry about the big measurement...there are so many different variables for that silly tape measure! Especially if the Dr. didn't start from the top of your pubic bone, had the tape twisted or not at 0, or baby decided to moon the Dr. and stick their little bum out extra far! With my first, we had one odd measurement like that and he was back to normal at the next one.

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@charmed: don't worry about the big measurement. Baby position can change those measurements really easily.

@namaste: I remember someone posting about a two vessel cord recently. I'd search the archive for you but I'm on my phone. From what I remember it was extra monitoring but healthy babies all around.

No names for us yet. DH is veto happy.

  12. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

@charmed: I wouldn't worry at all since it was just the tape measurement. Some women's bellies hardly show and some really balloon. I've really never understood how they could date the baby that way.

As far as naming, that is how I always feel. These would do, but none of them feel like my kid.

  13. namaste

    persimmon / 1313 posts

@Raindrop: @Radish: @oliviaoblivia: Thanks ladies! I did notice a lot of extra monitoring during my research but my doctor didn't say a single thing about it lol. To be fair, it's not really the doctor I prefer and they were really rushy yesterday. I think they were probably super overbooked since there were a lot more ladies in the waiting area than I'd ever seen.

@charmed: Oh that's no good! I definitely wouldn't want to be told something like that. I'm sorry you're feeling down about it. I definitely think belly measurements aren't reliable from what I've been told but if your weight gain is fine, you're fine! I consider that a time to have a treat yourself day.

My next appointment is the 13th for my glucose screening and T-dap.

@oliviaoblivia: Haha, veto happy. You have the least amount of time left to come up with one! Is a December c-section still the plan for you?

  15. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@Radish: it's the ten pound baby plan. If this one measures normally at my growth scan I'll try for the vbac. We named DD1 really easily once we knew gender so not having one now is driving me bonkers.

@oliviaoblivia: Nice! I wasn't confident about A's name even as we filled out the birth certificate form.

@charmed: Bummers to hear that! Did they tell you to loose weight or stop gaining weight? If they didn't I would not worry.

    @cheesehead: @oliviaoblivia: @Radish: @namaste: thanks ladies
@Raindrop: nope, doctor seemed unconcerned since my 20 week ultrasound (and earlier ones) all measured right on track.
It just really caught me off guard, and of course I went straight to worst case scenarios.

I did a little googling this morning, and it looks like fundal height measurements don't always exactly correspond to how big the baby is (although the common thought is the measurement in centimeters = # of weeks pregnant).
But since mine was 4 weeks ahead this time, it should continue to measure 4 weeks ahead. (unless today's measurement was totally of).

    grapefruit / 4731 posts

@charmed: Oh then you are fine!! Stop worrying momma!

I'm overweight and my OB has never really been concerned about it but I tend to unintentionally lose weight. Sometimes she mentions that I should only gain a 5-10 lbs max but that has never been a problem.

Days left until due date: 112
Next up on baby to-do list: painting and setting up the nursery... And getting my registry done
Most looking forward to: meeting my baby girl!
Stressed about: I worry about everything. Tonight it's stillbirth. I listened to a very scary podcast that I wish I hadn't.

@CatchAFallingStar: ugh yes, the worries are the worst. Today I convinced myself that I contracted toxoplasmosis by turning up dry soil in my yard and inhaling the dust. Sounds so silly now.

@Radish: my due date is actually 1/13

  24. CatchAFallingStar

    nectarine / 2809 posts

@MrsHansen82: It's so awful to think of the things that could go wrong. I know it's all very rare, but it seems like most people know of someone it's happened to. I'm a photographer and a florist I work with frequently for weddings had a stillbirth a couple years ago. It never left my mind. I really can't imagine anything worse. I guess anytime someone loses a child, it's the worst thing that could happen. But, I know it's not healthy to think this way. Chances are high that everything is great.

On a happier note, what's your due date and are you having a boy or girl? What are the names you like?

  25. CatchAFallingStar

    nectarine / 2809 posts

@MrsHansen82: We're having a girl and are trying to decide between Quinn and Sloan. I like Quinn best, but hubby doesn't love it. He thinks we should wait and name her when we see her. Ugh!

Days left until due date: 107
Next up on baby to-do list: unpack our new rental and get her dresser painted
Most looking forward to: meeting her!
Stressed about: things that can possibly go wrong like toxoplasmosis, lead in the water, etc...

@CatchAFallingStar: Were having a girl too and my DH also thinks the name is not something we need to rush. I like a few names, but nothing I'm crazy about. My recent favorite is Samantha. It's already wearing off though.

    @Raindrop: thanks

@Radish: next time you update the list, you can add my next appointment: October 21. Also get to do the glucose test that visit

@CatchAFallingStar: Worrying about everything is the worst I know how you feel.

We got our registries set up this weekend - it took waaayy longer to do than I expected (due to the fact we registered at Toys R Us first, thinking it was the only Toys/Babies R Us in the area- only to find a brand spanking new stand alone Babies R Us a little ways down the road. )
I'm glad we found it though - they had just about everything you could think of on display. It was so great to see all the gear in person and be able to touch it and try it out. I'm glad to have that out of the way!

@charmed: We're registered at Babies R Us and Amazon. UGH. I really hate the way Babies R Us has its store layout so I feel like it took us forever when we only have 30 items lol

I know a lot of you probably are having great pregnancies.

BUT I have terrible pregnancies and today I am feeling a little jealous of women that easy and wonderful pregnancies. I wonder if my hormones are just kicking in. For some reason it just hit me, like wow it's unfair my pregnancies have always been a challenge!

I'm definitely grateful to be able to get pregnant and also have a wonderful son currently. But dang it I wish these 40 weeks would be a little kinder to me.

I know I only have 18 weeks to go and I can definitely do it for LO. Knowing I will get to hold him soon is what's keeping me going.

Sorry for the vent girls! Thanks for reading.

@charmed: Do you have a buy buy baby near you? I love buy buy baby. It is the Bed Bath and Beyond of baby stuff. Seriously if you ever go to one it's basically the same lay out as Bed Bath and Beyond but all baby stuff. They have a ton of floor models (this was the only way we were able to test out strollers). They also take un-expired Bed Bath Beyond coupons.

Are you ladies seeing baby move from the outside? Watching my belly is my new favorite pastime. I saw it for the first time two weeks ago, and now I'm 25+4 and see her wiggling/kicking around in there every day.

It's the craziest thing! Sometimes it's just a flick here and there, but other times I feel like I see her do a total flip--like I see a big shape move all the way across my belly. Maybe her bum or something? Anyway, just curious about if y'all are experiencing the same thing. I think it's totally awesome, but my husband still prefers to feel her. I guess watching my belly jiggle around is a little weird to him... ha!

@Raindrop: I was out of town when it first happened, so I took a video of it to send to my husband!! Haha. Probably the most lame video ever, but since I had on a stretchy, striped shirt, you could actually see some of the kicks!

@Raindrop: I'm so sorry your pregnancies are difficult. This one is definitely harder for me than the first, but overall it could be so much worse. It's hard wishing away the pregnancy days but I'm finding myself do that too. I'm definitely counting down the days.

@mfa_lady: I watch my belly a lot before bed. Baby girl is very active right before I go to sleep.
