@Happygal: congrats on your little girl!
@sorrycharlie: hope you had fun celebrating with your little one! I'm inspired by your cloth diapering - I'm too intimidated to try, I think, but am definitely thinking after getting through the first few months I may reevaluate. Glad it is going so well!
@mfa_lady: that's so cool! I'm still in love with every little kick, would love to feel hiccups (I think!) hope you feel better soon.

Just had my 24wk appointment though I'm only 23wks. Everything is great. I don't know about you guys but it's always a relief to hear that heartbeat.
At first I couldn't hear it... OB had trouble finding it. Then she explained and I was so glad she did. She's like I can catch it for a second and then he runs away. I could actually feel movement and thinking how he's trying to get away from her and laughed. Finally OB was like alright I think I can pin him down and held down one side of my tummy and put the heart monitor on the other side and was able to get a good heartbeat to measure.

@Raindrop: That is so cute! It's so funny, isn't it, how they move around so much? At my last appointment, my midwife literally said "I mean, right now, they're just swimming around in there!" and made the breaststroke motion as though she was swimming. Ha!
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@mfa_lady: LOL that's cute! Now you got me thinking about babies swimming around and doing all kinds of swimming moves in the tummy!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Raindrop: I know, right? Every time I feel her do one of those across-the-belly moves, I think of my midwife fake-swimming in the office. Ha!!

I didn't want to make a post for just this, so thought I'd ask here. Do you ever have days with no/very little movement?
I have anterior placenta, but the last two weeks have felt a ton of movement - especially when I fall asleep at night, at 4 in the morning, and when I'm getting ready for work. Yesterday/today not so much. Maybe 1 or 2 little swishes but nothing like before. I am going to buy an orange juice at work and drink it, and see if I can feel more.
Is this common? Are there days baby is just moving less but everything is ok? I don't want to be a crazy person and call my dr office but I am kind of nervous. I had been loving feeling those movements and knowing everything's ok.

@Raindrop: that's so cute
My girl has had hiccups a few times - it's such a funny feeling! And I have the urge to pat her back/try to soothe her out of them
@Oliviapope: I've had days like that. A couple times I chalk it up to me being busier and moving around a lot, so I don't notice when she is moving. (Also I read somewhere that when you're moving, it rocks the baby to sleep)
But this Monday she was really inactive- I was panicking b/c I didn't think I'd felt her move since that morning. I drank some OJ, lay down, pushed on my belly - everything I could think of and still nothing for hours. Then just before DH got home (I was going to tell him and call my Dr.), she started moving around a bit. Then she was back to normal the next day.
I do think that the baby's position has a lot to do with what you feel/how strong the kicks are - especially with an anterior placenta (I have one too ). But if you're feeling a lot fewer movements overall, it wouldn't hurt to call your doctor just in case.
You could also try doing kick counts to keep track of how much baby is moving (even if the movements don't feel that strong.)
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Oliviapope: I could have written his exact same post last week. So, yes! This happens to me, too. It's scarier once they're moving around a ton--because then you really notice when they're not. I do find that when I'm moving around a lot, I don't notice her as much (like @charmed: said). I try to remind myself that they have busier/more active days and lazier days, just like us. Thinking of you, lady!

@Oliviapope: Last week she was pretty inactive during the day it rained all day but that night, she was having a party. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about!
How are your bumps coming along ladies? Any belly buttons that have popped?
My belly button looks like it's ready to pop but nothing thus far. I always get told I'm small for almost seven months, sometimes in a good way and sometimes in a snide backhanded compliment type of way. People are so weird about other people's weight gain.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@namaste: Bump is looking fine, I think, but I get comments like you, haha. It's definitely clear (finally) that I'm pregnant and not just eating a lot of donuts and cheeseburgers, but I get a lot of the "you're so tiny!" stuff too. I'm also still way tinier in the morning and a good bit bigger at night, haha.
I appreciate the comments about being small now MOST of the time, but it irks me when it comes from someone who has kids who then follows it with "I mean, when I was 26 weeks, I was already a house!" as though they were like more of a pregnancy champ than me or something. Haha!
My belly button is looking....weird. Sometimes the edge kind of flips up, but no pop-age yet!
persimmon / 1313 posts
@mfa_lady: haha well I thought I looked pregnant and then somebody told me that it could go either way but I blame my gigantic boobs. Pregnancy champs are sort of the worst. No two pregnancies are alike!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@namaste: YES to the boobs. If mine were their normal size, I'd look WAY more pregnant than I do. Haha. But, they're so giant (for me, at least) at the moment that they kind of take away a bit of the bump shock.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@Oliviapope: Totally normal. A call to the doctor for reassurance is never a bad thing. I never consistently felt LO1 move my entire pregnancy and I had an anterior placenta. I realized the other day I hadn't felt this on in a while, but ice cream seems to get her going ;-).
We officially have moved and I went to my new doctor earlier this week. She is going to do another anatomy scan at the end of the month because she has had transfer patients with serious issues that have not been found by their previous doctors. I 100% trust my old doctor, but yay for another peek.
On another note, my new neighbor pointed out I was pregnant when I didn't mention it. That is a first this pregnancy - guess I'm out of that maybe a little fat stage?
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Radish: Ahh, yes, ice cream. Don't you love when our babies love the same things we do?
persimmon / 1096 posts
@charmed: Same thing happened to me during a really busy day last week. Once I laid down in bed, baby started kicking like crazy again. OJ, pop, ice cream - something with lots of sugar seems to perk them right up. And rest!
@namaste: My belly button has popped! It didn't happen until the 35+ week mark last time, but 24 weeks this time. The bump has just actually ballooned in general. I'm only up 4 lbs according to the doctor's scale, but that is pretty hard to believe!
@Radish: We are moving out of state toward the end of the month - I'm so nervous about starting with a new doctor around 30 weeks! Definitely poor timing. Glad you are getting settled!

@Oliviapope: I have lazy baby days every now and then, I hate them! I actually think it is just the position (when I think rationally).
persimmon / 1177 posts
@namaste: my belly button is such an innie I don't think it would be possible for it to pop
@namaste: @mfa_lady: my boobs are out of control too, and I definitely think they make my belly look smaller. Just in the last couple weeks I've noticed my belly finally sticks out past my boobs when I look down.
@Radish: Yay for another peek at baby!
At the gym yesterday I had someone comment on me being pregnant - it was the first time a stranger has brought it up.

Sorry I have been MIA for a bit.
@Oliviapope: I think it's normal! My first, I rarely felt him even near the end. I forget when you have to start kick counting but some night I was afraid I wouldn't make the quota!
My mom also told me I was a super lazy baby. She said she rarely felt me kick and went in twice to check on me in her 3rd trimester and the doctors would tell her I was fine... She just had a very lazy baby. To this day... she should have known how lazy I was from when I was a baby! She's mean in a half joking way to me.
Also glad to hear things are going good!

@Oliviapope: Glad everything is fine!
I've been super sick today. Hope you're doing well!

@charmed: @mfa_lady: @namaste: @Radish: @Snowdrop: @keepcalmcarrie: @Raindrop: thank you ladies! i wound up calling the dr., who had me come in. I met an NP who was new to me, who was super sweet and told me to feel free to call anytime for that reassurance. It took a little time to find baby's heartbeat but it was there!
And yesterday and today the movement has been off the charts - so I think this baby is making sure I am paying attention
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that had that worry - and when I mentioned it to some of my friends at a dinner last night they all had their own similar experience, so that made me feel better.
@namaste: my belly button just popped yesterday! but it's funny, depending on what position I am in, if I'm lying on my side, standing up, even laughing or talking - all of these seem to affect the degree to which it's popped. it's kind of funny. i am not loving how it looks under shirts though - but usually if i wear a cami underneath it's not really that noticeable.
@Radish: exciting that you'll get another look at your baby glad your move is done. we move next weekend (just 30 minutes away) and i already can't wait for it to be over.
@namaste: hope you feel better soon! are you fighting a cold? everyone at my work seems to have something like that - i'm trying my best to stay away from them all!

@Oliviapope: glad everything is OK! I also get days when baby is lazy and makes me worry.
Anyone else seeing their stomach move when baby kicks? I've been seeing it a lot these past few days and it's really cool but sometimes it weirds me out too.
@namaste: hope you feel better soon!
As a health care professional, I will make a PSA that everyone please get your flu shots! The antibodies your body makes will pass on to the baby and provide immunity for up to 6 months

Hey guys! I've been MIA because works been crazy so am hoping to catch up soon. Is anyone feeling awful cramping / pain? Tonight especially I'm having lots of cramps and pressure. It almost feels like when I walk his head is pushing down? I'm not sure if I should call or if it's just normal "growing pains". I don't remember feeling this with my daughter!
persimmon / 1177 posts
@namaste: boo, sorry you're feeling poorly
@pmrlady: I've seen my stomach move when baby does! It's so crazy!
@MrsTiger: I haven't had any cramps/pain, but this week one of my apps mentioned it's common to start having braxton hicks contractions around 25 weeks. Maybe that's what it is? (Did you ever have them with your daughter?)
But I would definitely call if you're in a lot of discomfort!
persimmon / 1481 posts
@MrsTiger: I've had cramps off and on since my BFP, but anytime I asked my doctor about it she said cramps are normal unless they are severe and have you doubled over in pain, they are coming at regular intervals like contractions, or they are accompanied by bleeding. With that being said, if they are accompanied by pressure, I would call just to make sure they are not early contractions. My health news letter from my hospital said that if you feel significant pressure before 35 weeks to call. I hope I didn't scare you, but I don't want any of our January baby's to come this early!!
persimmon / 1481 posts
@pmrlady: Yes! My belly jiggles sometimes when she kicks. It's so strange. Sometimes I can actually see body parts moving around too.
Also, I completely agree about the flu shot!
persimmon / 1313 posts
@Oliviapope: Thank you dear! I get stuffy/sneezy but mostly just nauseous and vomiting. Friday was terrible, the worst it's been since my BFP.
@pmrlady: Thank you! I'm feeling a bit better after taking the weekend off.
It's so awkward when she moves while I'm around other people and they can see it lol I was in camel pose last night and DH could see her outline. It freaked him out/was awesome lol
@MrsTiger: Definitely been cramping on and off for a while, especially today. I don't feel any intense pressure with them but sometimes I feel some pressure? It hasn't been unbearable so I haven't said anything. Ask your doctor just in case!

@charmed: @MrsHansen82: @namaste: Thanks guys! I felt better after putting my feet up and taking it more easy today, so I'm hoping it was just a fluke-y thing. I'm definitely going to call my doc next time though, I just hate calling after hours because I feel like they are annoyed at you / don't take you seriously anyway.
I never had Braxton Hicks with my daughter so maybe that is what it is too. I also was able to be super lazy while pregnant with her, where as this time around I'm chasing her around / picking her up all the time, so I think that is wearing on me!

I just knocked over a box of tampons in my bathroom cupboard, and then I did a little happy dance when I realized I haven't needed them since April (and hopefully won't need them again for awhile!)
Have I really been pregnant that long?!!
How is everyone else doing this week?
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@charmed: I had a very similar experience this morning! I was cleaning out my car (trying to find enough change for a toll, embarrassingly enough, haha) and found a tampon, too. I was also doing a happy dance!
It's crazy that we have so little time before these babes get here!
I'm doing pretty well this week--heading out of town this weekend for a wedding, so that's a little stressful, but just trying to get everything done before we leave. I'm also having some pretty rough tailbone pain, so am not excited about 1) flying and 2) standing up in the bridal party. Ha!
I have my glucose test tomorrow, too, so hopefully that goes well!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@mfa_lady: I had terrible tailbone pain with my first and I will confirm that flying is horrible for it! I bought a special inflatable pillow for the pain. The most important thing is to keep pressure off of it so if you sit on anything that elevates you a tiny bit off the seat but isn't directly under your tailbone (like the back part of your butt is not touching anything), that helps a lot. I don't have that with this pregnancy though. Weird. I have my glucose test in 10 mins!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@charmed: Haha, not looking forward for when I do have to use them again.
@mfa_lady: Enjoy the wedding! I have also been having tailbone pain .Good luck on your glucose test!
AFM - This week has been productive. We painted the nursery yesterday and I need to touch up some spots. Excited to be able to unpack and go through all the baby stuff once the room is set up. I have been feeling a ton of movement lately, but my husband is lame and unless it is a sharp jab won't say for sure if he felt it.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@charmed: hahaha, I'm still paranoid: I had some tampons in my work bag and still haven't removed them because of fear that surely then something would go wrong. So very unreasonable but alas...
@mfa_lady: I had one of those wedge cushions that leave a part for the tailbone out and that helped a lot. I'm lucky enough to not have those pains this time (yet - at least).
@SleepyMonkey: Good luck at your glucose test!
@Radish: That does sound like a productive week! My hubby is the same somehow he often can't muster the patience to wait for her to kick noticably. I guess that happens if you run after a toddler all day
AFM - Sorry I was gone so long. We were on vacation and had a blast. It was really great to enjoy some family time. Travelling to the States little B had no issues but coming back he's having a hard time with the jet leg. The long day on the day of our flight back made me quite sore but other than that I just had to take it slowly on some days but really enjoyed the rest of the time. I have my next OB appointment on Friday 10/10 which will also include a glucose test. I sure hope to get cleared to eat all those jummy christmas cookies
If noticed that our roll call lists has quite a few more on now
I'll try to catch up and sure hope everyone is doing ok!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@Pumuckl: thanks! Just waiting in the waiting room for them to take my blood.
Nothing much new here. We won't have a nursery for this one so there is no prep. We can use all of #1s clothes too because the seasons are pretty close. I bought two new newborn footies the other day, just so she can have something that isn't a hand me down. We are headed to Disney in 10 days though, so I'm excites about that! It'll either be totally awesome or a complete disaster. We went to san francisco a couple weeks ago for family stuff and that wasnt a great trip. We were too busy with seeing people and going to events, so there wasnt a ton of down time. The flight back to the east coast was tough too because our daughter was coming down with a terrible cold. Since then, we have also been having some sleep troubles. She suddenly refuses to sleep in her crib and we have to lay down with her to fall asleep. We sneak out after she does but she wakes up in the middle of the night and we have to lay with her again. I don't have the strength to do cry it out plus I don't think it would work at her age. And I slept with my parents until I was 8, so I have memories of waking up and feeling abandoned when my mom wasn't next to me. So I sympathize with her! Anyway. Its just a phase...
nectarine / 2079 posts
@SleepyMonkey: Our daughters are about the same age I believe (22 months over here) and we just moved her to a twin floor bed after the move and we have to lay with her to get her to sleep and she also has night wake ups. I am going to try CIO, but her grandma has been here and rescues her against my wishes so I have to wait until she goes back home.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@Radish: I've been taking my own informal poll of people IRL and online and it seems that this is a pretty common problem! Let me know how it goes after grandma leaves.

@mfa_lady: @SleepyMonkey: good luck with your glucose tests!
@Pumuckl: glad your vacation went well! and good luck with your glucose test too - I feel the same way, hope I pass so I can eat Christmas cookies without feeling too guilty
nectarine / 2079 posts
Yesterday I had a little boy ask if there was a baby in my belly. His mom said his neighbor is pregnant and he thinks everyone is, so I'm not sure if she realized I actually was or just felt flustered.
@SleepyMonkey: Well last night CIO wasn't really a success, but on the flip side I didn't have to lay with her at all. I ended up just sitting in the middle of the room for her to go to sleep and then she woke up once in the middle of the night and I just sat next to her bed for like 5 min. Her big hangup right now seems to be having the door closed so I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that.
