@SleepyMonkey: we had a few random nights of two wake ups too, it made me realize I should be reallllly happy when he only wakes up once!
I got my Mirena inserted today and it was 1000 times easier than I thought it would be. I did have cramping immediately but I took some Motrin and it went away. Whew!
L has been napping like a champ with his magic sleep suit, the teachers at daycare thought I was crazy when I brought it in Monday but by today they were all singing it's praises / obsessed with it too!

C rolled back to front yesterday.
And then spent the entire night practicing. Soooooo tired!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@SleepyMonkey: @HappyBaker: Whaaaat?! We are up 3-4x a night.
@oliviaoblivia: Yay for rolling!!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@sorrycharlie: oh man! I am sure C will cut back on the wakeups soon. I think smaller babies take a little longer to start sleeping longer stretches.
@oliviaoblivia: whoa back to front! That is the harder way to roll! Go C!
pineapple / 12793 posts
@SleepyMonkey: it's one of those "yay!.... wait oh no!" L walked really early, it was cool but a pain. I was hoping this one would stay put a while longer.

B slept 10.5 hours straight last night! Doubt I'll get a repeat tonight, but it was much needed.
@oliviaoblivia: that's crazy! B isn't even awake enough to do tummy time or try any skills.
@sorrycharlie: hope she gets the hang of nighttime soon! A was a pretty crappy sleeper so i totally feel your pain.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
Okay, now that I'm back, I don't know if I can read this anymore, lol! 10.5 hours??? Only 1 or 2 wake-ups? Only 3 or 4 wake-ups? I bet your babies all nap during the day, too.
Needless to say....we're not there. He is pretty dang cute, though.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Espion: glad you're back! With the ten hours came my period. Almost not worth it.
So here's my stupid complaint...
C sleeps 8-6 straight and then nurses at 6, falls asleep immediately, wakes to nurse at 7, falls asleep, wakes to nurse at 8 and then is up for the day. I know I'm lucky to have that first stretch but the nursing three times in three hours feels like a lot.
I should get up at the first wake up and workout then feed her and then shower and make breakfast before her next one but I like my bed too much.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@Espion: I've been wondering what you were up to. I know how lucky I am with B's sleep. My toddler has more night wake-ups than she does. B's trying hard to be my favorite
@oliviaoblivia: Yeah, that's rough. Could you try to keep her up and eating longer at that first feed?
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Radish: I've tried, she treats it like a dream feed though. Barely awake while eating and then completely and totally asleep six minutes later.
I keep thinking she'll compress them. No luck yet.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@oliviaoblivia: I read something the other day about pushing back feeds in order to drop one--maybe with either the 6 or 7 am feeding, try stretching her 15 minutes later for a few days, then 15 minutes after that, etc. Might help her drop one of the 3? (Haven't tried it myself, so no clue if it'd actually work....but it's a thought!)
E has been waking at 5 consistently (with or without her dream feed), and then usually I can get her back to sleep until 7, when she has to eat again before we head out to the sitter's. I think they do need a lot to eat after a nice long nighttime stretch, but maybe you could at least get her to cut out one of the three. Good luck!

@Espion: right there with you on the no sleep
Totally jealous, but happy for everyone with babies that sleep well!
We did successfully move her to the crib for night time, but it hasn't helped her sleep at all.
Last night she slept an hour, woke up, cried, ate, back to sleep and repeat all night long. I think sleep is worse now than when she was a newborn.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Espion: @charmed: 3-4 wake ups is a good night a standard night is 2 hour stretches. Plus my toddler means even if the baby sleeps well, of course my older one needs me. Le sigh.

A had her baby dedication this weekend at church. Navigating my MIL being around my FIL was fun. We're taking a road trip this week and I'm feeling so unprepared to travel with A.
I'm sure it will be fine but it's overwhelming to think about driving 6 hours!
Baby sleep is weird A slept for 11 hours both Friday and Saturday and was up every 3 hours last night. No logic!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@namaste: Just allow for a flexible schedule. If she is a fan of sleeping in the car, it'll probably be pretty smooth. Is it 6 hours total or one way?
persimmon / 1313 posts
@Radish: One way! She sleeps in the car usually when we're out for a while.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Espion: welcome back! Sorry you're not there on the night time sleep. How did your exam go? (and sorry if I missed your update on that somwhere!)
@namaste: good luck traveling I'm sure you and A will be fine. I have a solo drive next week with both LOs coming up. My DH and my mom will leave Tuesday night to be at our new place once the movers get there Wednesday morning and I'll leave for the new place Wednesday afternoon/evening after B's daycare party. Hope they'll both just sleep
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@sorrycharlie: same here - J usually sleeps really well but B, well, not so much. So tonight was extremely rare when both of them slept until 6 without any wakeups.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@namaste: Ew, yeah, that is intimidating because if it does go poorly 6 hours is a long time. Hopefully she will just sleep in two solid 3ish hour chucks. I only traveled 3 hrs each way when LO1 was this age and she just slept the whole time, but woke up just as we pulled into town.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
To add to the sleep conversation, E slept through the night for the first time on Sunday night (8-5, so I'm calling it!) and has been sleeping like crap since. Haha. I guess she's catching up from all those hours without eating.
In other news, she's doing GREAT at the sitter's, and we feel awesome about there being there. Being back at work is awesome, I'm just exhausted and usually need a nap or very early bedtime on Wednesday night to get through the week and still function.
How's everybody doing?
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@mfa_lady: sleep is so unpredictable with babies! we are still at one wakeup a night...anywhere between 1am and 5am. i figure it'll be like this for awhile. it'll suck when i go back to work and can't take naps every day! maybe i should start drinking coffee. are you still feeling ok? I know you were worried about a stomach bug going around your office!
we are at the start of a cold here. dd1 has a bad cough and runny nose, so i expect us to have the same. ugh. i thought with the warmer weather, the colds would go away. she has also been nursing a ton in the last week. like 2 hours per day, when she is usually around 1.5 hrs. i am not sure if something is going on with my supply? i am pumping 0.5-1 oz less than i usually do for my one pump of the day. who knows. also tons of drooling going on! starting to get use out of all of our bibs. dh is gone for 10 nights starting tomorrow. my mom is going to stay with me half of the time and our nanny will work extra hours the other half. thank goodness for extra help.

Sleep here is wild too. Three nights ago and last night, he slept 8+ hours after his dream feed!! 10 PM - 6:30 AM last night, best night ever But then two nights ago he woke up after 4 hours, midnight - 4 AM, so it's a crapshoot. He getting pretty tough to lay down at the end of the day too. We've already swaddle-weaned and he's taking 95% of his naps and 100% of his night sleep in the crib, and I always put him down sleepy but awake... But he fusses off and on for like an hour at night now. He's SO close to getting his thumb, which I'm very excited about. No more popping the binkie back in!
He's laughing and smiling all the time now, which definitely makes the special formula and the Zantac worth it. Comfy baby = happy baby.
@mfa_lady: so glad you like the sitter and being back at work is going well! Do you think E might start STTN regularly soon? The Dec mamas have such good sleepers, but I think for us it's just been @Pumuckl: and @oliviaoblivia: with freakishly good snoozes. I'm hoping to add H to that list soon! I legit don't care about anything else baby-wise (besides general health) until sleep is under control, haha.
@SleepyMonkey: DS1 and I both got sick in the past few days - he had a terrible head cold, I had/have this weird nausea and weakness. I freaked myself out to the point of buying a pregnancy test yesterday. Negative, phew!! I think it's a weird bug, or my period is about to return. And H is drooling so much! The pedi said she thinks he's teething at his 2 mo appt, and I didn't believe her at the time but now I'm thinking she was right. He chomps on my knuckles too. Such a crazy!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@SleepyMonkey: Knock on wood, still feeling okay! Thank you for checking in. Still not convinced we're done with it, but I'm crossing all appendages over here. Sounds like maybe a growth spurt? If she's nursing more, that could be why you're not getting as much out when you pump too. E's level of laziness/hunger at her morning feed definitely affects how much I pump for my first pump at work. I hope you guys kick the cold quickly if you get it! And you're not alone in the drooling. We're starting up with that over here too. AND my goodness, 10 days! I'm so glad you'll have lots of extra help. I'll be thinking about you!
@keepcalmcarrie: Gah, we have to hold onto those good nights for dear life! Haha. I like to think E will start STTN soon, but who knows. I know she CAN, now, but that seems to mean next to nothing! Aren't you using the Merlin suit now? I have a couple coming on loan from another HB mama, and I'm really interested to see how they work for us. E's also chewing on her hands a bunch, so much that she sometimes gags herself. I'll be glad when she figured out what she wants from them! Ha. Another knuckle chewer in my house, too...she started doing it to FIL the other day and he was so freaked out for some reason. He was like "oh no! Is this okay? She's chewing on me! Is that all right?" Is she happy? Yep, then it's totally fine. Haha!

Why does bedtime go so terribly when my husband is traveling? Uggghhhhh. Toddler still awake and periodically crying at 9:30pm and baby screamed her face off tonight and i had to lay down with her in my bed. Blergh.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@SleepyMonkey: Aww, sorry it was rough. I've been there, but luckily not on my own. We've resigned ourselves to late bedtimes with both kids - I get zero me time, but a solid chunk of sleep from 11-7:30 almost every night.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@Radish: thanks. Tonight was better. Baby cried a bit but she settled on her own. Wow..that is a great stretch of sleep. I am jealous!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@SleepyMonkey: Glad it was better! Yeah, B spoils me and I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. She's a sleep addict.

nectarine / 2079 posts
LOs Age: 11 weeks tomorrow
Weight: 12 lbs 10 oz
Recent Milestones: Sleeping through the night most nights. Coos and smiles more consistently.
Current Struggles: We don't get in a lot of tummy time because she sleeps a lot.
Random Tidbit: She is totally into toys hanging above her head right now and loves the mirror in her crib.
persimmon / 1313 posts
LOs Age: 15 weeks?
Weight: Last time she was weighed 10lbs. I should weigh her and see what she weighs today!
Recent Milestones: She rolled back to front a couple of times by accident lol not sure if she'll be doing it regularly any time soon though
Current Struggles: None for A but plenty for me lol
Random Tidbit: She is still in a very chatty phase. Lots of baby babbling all day! Loves things that crinkle and she's extra drooly.
nectarine / 2242 posts
@Radish: Thanks for starting this!
LOs Age: 14 weeks
Weight: 12 lbs 3 oz
Recent Milestones: Sleeping in his crib!
Current Struggles: Weight gain, we go back tomorrow to the DR to see what she wants us to do because he is dropping percentiles too quickly she thinks. Also he's been waking up more at night, but I'm not complaining because he's a great sleeper!
Random Tidbit: He is also very chatty and totally learning how to use his voice.
pineapple / 12793 posts
Good call on the updates!
LOs Age: 15 weeks
Weight: 14 lbs give or take
Recent Milestones: first tooth last week and no night wakeups.
Current Struggles: cradle cap. It will not go away!
Random Tidbit: her current favorite thing is to suck on the ears of a stuffed giraffe.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
LOs Age: 12 weeks
Weight: maybe 13.5lbs?
Recent Milestones: almost got a laugh out of here. Tummy time isn't just her in a face plant the whole time.
Current Struggles: not much. She has started to become distracted while nursing though.
Random Tidbit: she is an empathetic baby! Every time her sister starts crying about something, her little bottom lip comes out and she starts crying with big tears too! Its super cute. She also gets scared by the vacuum cleaner, dust buster and hair dryer. Starts crying as soon as i turn them on! Guess she isn't one of those babies that is soothed by loud white noise.
@oliviaoblivia: whoa! First tooth? Already?
pineapple / 12793 posts
@SleepyMonkey: yup. My girls don't keep their gummy smiles long. L had her first at 17 weeks.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@SleepyMonkey: Aww, that is so sweet/sad that she is so empathetic. B loves the vacuum white noise, she goes from hysterical to calm instantly.
@oliviaoblivia: Cradle cap is so annoying! A had it bad.
@HappyBaker: Hope you can troubleshoot his weight quickly.
@namaste: Glad things are going well with A.
persimmon / 1313 posts
@SleepyMonkey: A hates loud toliet flushes. Reduces her to a screaming cry anytime I have to change her in public. It's sort of ridiculous/hilarious.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
Things are crazy here with us currently being in the middle of our move so I'll try to catch up later this week.
LOs Age: 13 weeks
Weight: no idea, next best guess is ~12 lbs
Recent Milestones: she rolling belly to back mostly, talking up a storm and seriously has the goofiest smile ever.
Current Struggles: non really
Random Tidbit: her big brother gets her biggest smiles
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@namaste: hah, i don't even like loud toilet flushes. totally understandable!
i remember when i was little, i hated the sound of a car starting. i thought it was the scariest thing.
persimmon / 1481 posts
I've been so MIA but I've been following along, I promise!
LOs Age: 12 weeks yesterday
Weight: 14 lbs, 8 oz big girl!!
Recent Milestones: So close to laughing, trying to sit up when laying down(obviously she's nowhere near doing it but she sure tries hard)
Current Struggles: feeding and dealing with my overactive letdown. I've found that side lying nursing is the best position but sometimes she still freaks out.
Random Tidbit: I'm going back to work next week and I'm really excited/totally terrified! Only 3 days per week though.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
LOs Age: 11 weeks
Weight: 12lbs 7.5 oz
Recent Milestones: He actually took a nap today! Of course, mommy and daddy were both at work...
Current Struggles: Sleep. This kid only arm naps and wakes every couple of hours. I'd love to get him in a crib and out of our bed, but it's the only way I'm making it right now.
Random Tidbit: This kid is SO smiley. It totally makes up for the sleep part.
