@mrsjyw: we just recently started using the miracle blanket instead of A&A. It's a big hit with M. With A&A I had to swaddle her after she fell asleep because she fought it. With the MB she goes in happily.

@highwire: oh that makes me soooo mad! Especially when I go to the trouble of messing with her eating or napping schedule just to accommodate their planned arrival time!

@JessLC: we want 3 kids too. mostly bc im from a family of 3 as well and its been fun hanging out esp now when we're older. i still need space between each tho so hoping 2-3 years between all 3.

@mrsjyw: i use the miracle blanket too and it's been working well! i double swaddle with an a&a around the miracle blanket. may be overkill but she sleeps well at night so i'm not messin with it.

@kml636: i'm leaning towards an iud since i always forget to take pills and i want something that i don't have to remember. i want to try the copper one but painful cramps does not sound fun. so i may try mirena. still deciding which.

Has anyone tried the baby whisperers EASY method? LO sleeps well after eating but when i try to do some sort of activity with her she fights the nap. not sure if its part of the 6 week growth spurt as well. yesterdays naps were painful. fortunately her night sleep has been good. we finally reached 6 hours of sleep! can't wait for the even longer stretches!

@kodybear: EASY hasn't worked so well for us so far. We've been doing more of a sleep, active, eat routine. When I've tried active time after eating, I've also found it really hard to get her down for a nap. She goes from being content in her play time to fussy and way overtired within just a few seconds it seems. Plus, with keeping her upright for a bit after nursing, she just tends to want to fall asleep on me. We're on a two hour routine though (she just will not space out her feedings any more than this!). If we were doing every three hours, we'd probably have better luck with EASY.

Just got back from my first trip to the gym. This was a BIG deal for me. At the end of 2010 I had just worked really hard to get in great shape. I lost 20 pounds and had completed my first 10k race. Then in Jan I got pregnant. I had intended to continue working out to keep in shape my whole pregnancy... And then I had a miscarriage. I was down for the count for a while because of the pain and the emotions. Then in Feb I partially herniated a disk. And then in March I got pregnant again. But I had bleeding right off the bat and a number of other complications... And I wasn't allowed to work out at all the whole time. So this was essentially my first real work out in a year. It felt amazing. I can't wait to get my old self back and start doing longer runs again! But man.... It's hard to do situps after you give birth!!

@MamaMoose: Congrats to you mama! That' awesome! I feel you... I was training for a half marathon before having a miscarriage and then did not lose the weight from that pregnancy after that before having Lily. SO I have a ways to go but have been able to get workouts in everyday since my 6 week check. I haven't tried a sit-up yet... hate those!

@MamaMoose: @mrsjyw: we also use the miracle blanket. she started breaking out of her A&A swaddles about a month ago. i am trying a sleep sack tonight with the swaddle flaps. they seem pretty secure as well.

@kodybear: i have been trying to do the EASY method (i didn't read the book though) these past few days too. i started logging her eat/activity/sleep times today and noticed that an hour after she eats, she begins to get sleepy. i am having trouble having her stay asleep after i put her down though. she likes to nap on me most of the time.

@mamamoose: nice job on getting yourself to the gym! i am still totally lazy about exercising these days. i have gone to a few pilates classes but that is about it. my abs are so much weaker than they used to be pre-pregnancy.

when we put our LO down for the night in the dark, she immediately opens her eyes really wide as they adjust to the darkness and she looks so funny! we call them her "crazy eyes". do you guys have nightlights in your LO's rooms?

@Mrs. Tricycle: ha I was wondering the same! Ill be honest I'm not planning on working out any way but I dunno when I would even if I wanted to!

We had the best day yesterday he was so jolly and napped well, slept well overnight ... Today's been sooo rotten! No naps over 45 minutes and lots of fussing and over tiredness. Stocked up at the grocery store though abs easing back into meal planning and cooking after we move.

@Mrs. Tricycle: as soon as she goes down for a nap I jump on the treadmill! Today I took her out for her first run in the stroller... I have the carseat attachment for the bob revolution. I was nervous about her neck flopping around but the dr said it was prob fine, we still have the infant insert in the carseat. She seemed really cozy and fell right asleep.

@JessLC: I'm torn about the night light, from what I've read about sleep the room should be totally dark, but it just seems so scary in there without one!

@kml636: yes! i agree - i feel guilty, like she feels blind or something. i know i'm being ridiculous.

@scg00387: i FINALLY feel like i can make a meal for myself, like i've learned how to manage my time better and care about my health a little more. DH and I have been ordering out A LOT since the baby was born. i've cooked a few dinners this past week, i felt useful again!

@Mrs. Tricycle: I snuck in a yoga DVD during one of LOs naps yesterday. I'm also doing walks around the neighborhood/the mall. My gym won't take babies in their daycare until 6 months so I'm not even worrying about getting back there until then. I asked gor a bunch of workout DVDs for Xmas so those will tide me over until then. Also, I tentatively have a 5k on the calendar, but I plan on pushing the stroller and walking it...but it will still be good exercise. Basically I am taking things vert slow and easy but trying to amp up my workouts slowly and can go full force once baby is over 6months.

@JessLC: haha yes to the crazy eyes!! I put LO down in the nursery and leave it totally dark.

DH and I were splitting night's where he would take the early shift and then I would get up later and take over until morning. But last might DH was really upset and said he felt like we never even saw each other or spent any time together. So last night we both camped out in the living room and each got up for every feeding. DH got baby and made bottle, and I nursed, fed bottle, changed diaper and put LO back down. At each wake up we would get to at least talk for a minute/kiss/hold hands and it was way nicer of a night even with LO waking up really frequently. I hope we stick with this plan for awhile.

@Mrs. Tricycle: I fed her and then left her with hubs. I was only gone about an hour or so. He actually took her out to do some errands so when I got home I had the house to myself to shower and get ready to head over to our friend's house for dinner. It was bliss. We actually just discussed that for the next two weeks I'll go to the gym on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays when he gets home from work. After that she will have her vaccines and I'll take her to the gym daycare.

@JessLC: @kml636: The abs were definitely the hardest part. I did 2.5 miles on the treadmill no problem but 100 crunches almost killed me!! But I gotta get rid of the post baby pooch!

@JessLC: @MamaMoose: @kodybear: dh and I ran out to bru to get one but realized it wasy Sunday abd they closed early! But A slept in hus halo sleepsack w his arms wrapped tight... 11-230, 245-730! Last night!

Can't wait to see how he does in a mb!

@mrs. Triycle: I try to do a 25min dvd when lo is napping and then run at night when dh is home on the treadmill.

@scg00387: I've def been making more of.an effort to cook more the past two wks. We were lucky to have both moms cook/send us food...but. I like feeling like my normal again!

I've really realized how I still.am.able to do what I did before+baby... wonder what I did before w all that time! And sleep!!! Lol cliche but soooo true

@mrsjyw: jealous had my mom here for a week and it was awesome getting meals made!

Anyone else's LO yell in their sleep when they're waking up? Three times this morning he screeched so I went back to feed him and by the time I got there he was back asleep!

@scg00387: was just about to post something similar. Noticed that during his naps, a sometimes cries for a sec or yelps? Then falls back asleep...

Ugh, this baby will not sleep! She was up every 2.5 hours last night and has been soooo stubborn about naps. I could only get her to nap 20 mins in her crib this morning. She was obviously tired and after an hour of trying to get her to fall asleep, I finally got her to nap in the bassinet of her P&P. She's been in there for 40 mins, but keeps waking up. I'm at a loss!!! I really want to keep the habit of using the crib, but she is always so restless when we put her in there (day and night). I have no clue on how to get her to sleep longer, esp. @ night. Mama needs some sleep!

She's also been refusing bottles lately, so I've got some work to do there. I'm trying to give her one a day so she gets used to them. I could only get her to take an ounce yesterday, and even that was hard to do.

Hubs is back at work after 3 weeks off, so I'm adjusting to being back on my own. It's so much harder than it was a few weeks back.

@mrsjyw: @scg00387: My little one grunts and yelps as she wakes up too. Sometimes if it goes on for a while I just go ahead and wake her up. Especially in the middle of the night. I find that if I Get her up to change her and feed her before she's wide awake she ends up going back down much more easily when we are done.

    GOLD / squash / 13464 posts

@mrsjyw: I'm also in the camp of wondering why I didn't get more stuff done before baby. Sometimes I used to spend all weekend on the couch hanging out in my PJs. Now I get up and get showered and dressed every day. And I get so much done around the house everyday. I think before I could always convince myself I would get stuff done "later" but now it's like every time she goes down for a nap it's a race against myself to see how much I can get done before she wakes up.

  25. MamaMoose

    GOLD / squash / 13464 posts

@SLR: I'm sorry! Is she obviously hungry when she wakes up during the night? If not I would maybe try just rocking her, or using white noise to calm her. Something other than feeding her so she doesn't get used to eating so frequently of she doesn't really need to.

  26. SLR

    clementine / 824 posts

@MamaMoose: I'm really not sure! I wish I could figure it out. During the day, she's definitely an every 2 hour girl (wish I could space this out to 3). But at night, she's all over the place.

  27. immabeetoo

    honeydew / 7687 posts

@SLR: have you tried putting something that smells like you on the crib? My friend used to put the crib sheet down her shirt! We've had rough day sleep lately too you're not alone. Thankfully he has slept same in the crib as he did in the bassinet... But I would love for more four or five hour stretches than three:/

@scg00387: we moved her back into our room until we get the reflux sorted out so I hear her quickly. If she were in her crib we wouldn't hear her in time either.

    GOLD / squash / 13464 posts

For those with older babies... Are you out of newborn clothes? How old and how heavy was your LO when they started wearing 0-3m? M's 0-3 stuff says 8-12lbs but she is 9.5lbs and still too small to wear anything but newborn. But Of course her legs are getting too long for her NB sleepers....

  32. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

@scg00387: A is funny, he actually does it during daytime naps, but is sleeps soundly at night (unless he's congested!)... we were in the living room with his nb lounger the first month and just transitioned him to the pnp in our room.. and last night was his first sleep in the crib in his nursery with my mom sleeping by him...

@mamamoose: A has outgrown all his nb clothes, moreso by the length rather than filling them out (tho I think he's around 12 lbs now too). He'll be 7 weeks on Wed. His 0-3 and some 3 month clothes fit him well for the most part, some are a bit too loose and long yet.

  33. immabeetoo

    honeydew / 7687 posts

@MamaMoose: has the reflux gotten any better with cutting MIlk and soy r not yet? We're way out of newborn as of about 3.5 weeks and now at 6 he is starting to outgrow 3M in Carters He was born at 7.7 and is right at 12 right now and has long legs. Yikes! I have a bunch of summer stuff that will not fit him by the time it is warm..darn it!

  34. MamaMoose

    GOLD / squash / 13464 posts

@scg00387: I've been off dairy a week but only been off soy since Friday. I do see less spit up but that could just be coincidence since she's always had good days and bad days. Her mucusy poop is no better.

  35. SleepyMonkey

    grapefruit / 4006 posts

@MamaMoose: my LO is 10 weeks and weighs around 12.5 lbs. she fits snugly into 0-3 month clothes from certain brands like gerber. Carters 3-month and old navy/gap still has room and she'll probably be able to fit into it for another few weeks. i find that their sizing guides run a little big on LO - she is tall and skinny. e.g. Carter's says their 3-month will fit up to 12.5 lbs and up to 24 inches, but my LO definitely has room in it to grow.

@MamaMoose: we flit between newborn and 0-3, she's very tall but not chubby so can do both.

@SLR: we are having the same problem with naps, she hates going down for them but would sleep all day on us.

@highwire: aw, that's lovely, really nice that you both get up to spend time together.

@MamaMoose: yay, awesome on the workout!

@SLR: sooo frustrating! Hope if gets better fof you soon. Sometimes I give up on naps in the crib because she constantly wakes up in there. In the swing or stroller, she'll nap for 2 hrs.

  38. travelgirl1

It's a big night for A - her first night in her crib! It's pushed right up against our bed though so I can see her - totally not ready to have her in her own room yet.

We've also, finally, got her hospital appointments through. She's got another ultrasound tomorrow and a meeting with the orthopedic Dr on Fri, when I guess they'll strap her into the harness. Going to have to dig deep into my brave reserves for that. She was also going to have her 2 month jabs the same day but we knocked them back a few weeks, I think it would be too much for her to deal with having jabs and harness all at once.

I can't believe she's two months old already!
Are you all getting plenty of baby smiles now? She melts my heart with her happy faces!

@MamaMoose: My guy is 9 weeks. We stopped with NB stuff at 4 weeks when he was around 10 lbs. He is now over 13 lbs and 0-3 stuff is too small, some 3 months is ok though.
