I started spotting a bit. I know it can be implantation but I'm a wreck. My midwife won't do anything and since I work at a hospital, I'm gonna go to the er for some reassurance. Prayers please!

@Ash: Thinking of you!! I had two days of light spotting when my period was due and it was really scary.

@Ash: Hoping that everything is okay. I had light spotting with my first LO that lasted a day.

@Ash: Thinkin' of you lady; nothing but good thoughts comin' your way! Any chance you and DH had sex recently? I know after I went in my doctor was very adamant that the cervix is suuuuper sensitive and any kind of "disruption" (in my case the chlamydia/gonherrea test she was doing, but sex is another huge one) could cause spotting.

Oh no! Hope all is well lady!

@ms.janedoe: I've been too afraid to do it because of this reason exactly.
@MrsTiz: Thanks. Hoping the er will do the progesterone test I want and an ultrasound.

@Ash: Sending prayers your way! I had some brown mucousy discharge (sorry if TMI) last week and my midwife said it isn't uncommon and could be due to a number of things. I hope yours turns out to be nothing too.

  13. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@Cara M. 17: that's what mine was too but I'm a wreck because of my miscarriage history. Ultrasound didn't give us any answers cuz I'm so early. So just wait now. Fingers crossed.

@Ash: oh gosh, I know you are scared. I went to the ER at 5 weeks because of some shoulder pain- I thought maybe ectopic but they checked my hcg and it was fine. Did they do any blood tests?

  15. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@lilteacherbee: checked my hcg too and did a pelvic exam and ran some general labs. My betas were 1140, cervix is closed and no active bleeding.

  20. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@Ash: I am always nervous haha! You can't even imagine how many times I've been told "Stop stressing out, it's bad for the baby!". Which is also the number of times I've wanted to punch people in the face ha!

  21. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@Happygal: oh I definitely am.. DH has strict orders for me to do nothing. Hahaha!

@MrsTiz: Bahahahaha! Yes, I know! I get my betas redrawn on Thursday (at work since my midwife won't draw them) so hopefully they double - I'll feel so much better!!!

After my appointment on Friday and what we went through last night... DH wants me to look for a new OB. I really want a midwife/water birth but there are only 2 and they're in the same office... I really don't want a traditional legs in stirrups/laying on my back kind of birth. If I find a new office, that will be my only option. I am so torn. I want someone who is proactive... I see so many bees on here with doctor's that run labs, do extra ultrasounds etc... and I want that. All I want is peace of mind. When I called the office yesterday to tell them about my spotting, I was told "you do know we close in 15 minutes, right?" Umm, yes I do but I'M STILL SPOTTING! Grrrrrrrrrrr!

  22. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@Ash: it really sounds like you need a new doctor. Telling a scared woman that the office is about to close is unacceptable.

  23. FarmWifeGina

    pear / 1571 posts

@Ash: Grrrrrrrr! Midwives like that piss me off! I'm sorry you're feeling like this. You shouldn't have to choose your provider by the kind of birth experience you want.

  24. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@Ash: Yes, find a new OB! I was having very similar crappy service from my office, and accidentally ended up seeing another doctor in the same office and I *love* her. She is sweet and kind and I feel confident in seeing her. Try out the other midwife in her practice!

  25. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@Happygal: I agree! And my midwife telling me she has never seen someone miscarry twice in a row was not reassuring... because I know it happens.

@FarmWifeGina: I just want someone to care... which I don't think is that hard to do.

@MrsTiz: I actually might call and reschedule my ultrasound and my interview appointment which the other midwife. I'm also going to look into the other ob office in town to see what they offer.

  26. FarmWifeGina

    pear / 1571 posts

@Ash: No, that's not too much to ask. No one should be in the business of caring for mothers and babies if they can't comfort and reassure and show that they actually care and understand.

  27. Cara M. 17

    clementine / 825 posts

@Ash: I hope you are able to find a care provider who is more sensitive to your worries rather than tell you they're about to close!

Does anyone else not "feel pregnant"? I have tender breasts, get tired fairly easily, have headaches, and increased appetite, but that's really it! I am only 5 weeks + 3 days but I really thought I would feel more at this point? Maybe I'm just crazy!

@Cara M. 17: I'm 5w2d and I feel the same! None of my symptoms are consisten at this point, and sometimes feel like I imagined being pregnant, lol. I also live in fear of a miscarriage or missed miscarriage. Not a great way to live when you're supposed to be happy :-/.

  29. Turd Ferguson

@Cara M. 17: Aside from the ridiculous amount of zits, I feel...normal. I haven't really had any morning sickness, no awful fatigue, it's really kind of...terrifying! Hahaha. I know I shouldn't worry, but I can't help it! I'm 7 weeks and a day, and for the last few weeks kept telling myself, "Oh, just WAIT until next week..." only to have...nothing happen. Fingers crossed Friday will bring good news!

  30. Cara M. 17

    clementine / 825 posts

@MrsCB: @ms.janedoe: Exactly! I keep telling myself that symptoms are coming. And I too am living in fear of a MC or missed MC even though this is my first pregnancy. My DH keeps telling me not to stress bc it's not good for me or the baby but it's so hard! I also won't be getting an US until 12 weeks which is 7 weeks away yet!

  31. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@Cara M. 17: You can't request a 7 week viability scan from your OB? I've been working with an RE and I thought I'd get a super early scan, but the nurse told me not until 7-9 weeks :-/. And I don't have an OB because I don't know when the RE will release me.

I have my last beta blood work tomorrow (yay!) so hopefully hearing my numbers will keep me feeling good for a few more days. Every time I've gotten blood work I get all happy because the numbers are good, but then a couple days later I'm back to worrying that things have stopped progressing.

@Cara M. 17: @MrsCB: I have my first ultrasound on Friday and I'll be 7 weeks and 4 days; I never got beta bloodwork or anything--SO tough!!!

@Cara M. 17: I bet if you ask if you can do a dating ultrasound your OB would let you...

@Cara M. 17: Oh man, I totally feel pregnant. I'm nauseous from the time I get up until bedtime, I have more zits now than I've had in my life combined, i'm exhausted, my stomach feels full even when I haven't eaten, my boobs hurt in the morning. I told DH if this is what pregnancy is like he's only getting one kid outta me! I knew it would be this way though because I was really excited about being pregnant (and being a mama of course) so naturally it would be super rough!

  34. Cara M. 17

    clementine / 825 posts

@ms.janedoe: That's so exciting I hope your US goes well and you get to see the little bean!

@mrscb: I am seeing a midwife and I've been told my first US will be at 12 weeks. I have my first appointment at 8 weeks and we are planning to ask if they can do an early US but I'm not sure they will.

@mrstiz: How far along are you? While those symptoms don't sound fun at least they are all signs of a healthy pregnancy! I hope it gets easier for you in the 2nd trimester.

@ms.janedoe: Ooh I'm so jealous about the ultrasound. After my blood work tomorrow they'll schedule my first one. I'm really hoping it's sooner rather than later, this anxiety is killing me.

@MrsCB: I hope your bloodwork goes well and gives you some peace of mind.

@MrsCB: yay! so excited for the results!! :))

@Cara M. 17: Thanks! I usually just feel "crappy" and attribute that to being pregnant. Haha! My midwife is only doing an early u/s for us at 8weeks because of my history of m/c... they're not very proactive, I'm finding. :((

  38. mrsmacandcheese

    blogger / clementine / 985 posts

@Cara M. 17: I think I told my husband "I don't feel pregnant" a week ago and now I *definitely* feel pregnant. I have been all-day nauseated for the last three or four days. I'm freaked out by miscarriages and ectopics and this is our first, too! So... it might come along soon for you and then you'll wish you weren't nauseous.

I'm jealous of everyone with bloodwork and ultrasounds and doctor's appointments, haha! I'm not able to go in for my first appointment until 9 weeks, and then I think they'll requisition bloodwork and an ultrasound after that. Not holding my breath to get bloodwork results because they have a bad history of not giving me results for things in the past, but I know I should get an ultrasound sometime before my 2nd tri (I hope).

    @Cara M. 17: I'm 7 weeks 4 days!
@MrsDragon: My OB told me that pregnancies that have nausea/vomiting usually turn out better than those that dont! (not saying you need those things to have a good pregnancy!)

@MrsDragon: I'm sorry you've been so nauseous. I'm welcoming nausea right now bc I know it's a sign of a healthy pregnancy. I'm sure if/when it shows up I will be wishing it never did!
