You girls are way active and I'm way behind!

@ms.janedoe: same! I live in target nursing tanks!

@sweetooth: I also have a Dutalier glider and love it! It's the only one that seemed supportive enough and didn't swallow me up. I like that it has a locking mechanism so that the gliding feature is optional. I also have a poang, but I have to use a bunch of pillows to be prop myself up to comfortable in it.

@sweetooth: oh, I also had some machine washable slipcovers made for the inevitable spit-up mess. I don't understand why gliders made for rocking and nursing babies would have spot clean only fabric!

Today would be the perfect day to write up a quick birth story buuuut I'm enjoying a lazy day instead.

@Ash: It took me a month to write up "the full" thing-- and even then I almost put it off some more-- until I realized I was starting to forget the sequence of events and times... then I had to make myself do it

I hope everyone had a good weekend!!

I got back the rest of Caroline's Newborn photos and I wanted to share the one and only "open eyed" photo we got-- I love it! My MIL thought it would have been better if her hands were out (she kind of looks like a jelly bean) but I don't think we'd have gotten a decent one if her hands were out because when she's awake, those hands are all over the place LOL

@Mrs. Pink: Ooooo mine won't be that detailed! I'll just hit the main points - maybe I'll have dh help me!
Caroline is a little gem! So sweet!

@Mrs. Pink: cutest jellybean I've ever seen!! She's so beautiful

I have to add, since we were talking about it, my bleeding is still bright red (almost 4 weeks pp). Anyone else? Just me?

    @Mrs. Pink: beutiful!!!

At Jacks' 2 month appt we told his pedi that he is a really loud breather and he snores when he sleeps, so she listened and sent us to the ENT doctor.. he is actually an adult doctor because they don't have a specialized baby ENT here..but he thought Jack had a mild case of laryngomalacia. So we're headed to Duke (big hospital in my state about 2 hours away) so they can put a camera down J's throat (WHILE HE'S AWAKE) and see if it's something he'll grow out of or something that needs intervention.

    @Mrs. Pink: so cute!

@Ash: I don't have much bleeding now, more like spotting, but like every other day it will be bright red.

@MrsTiz: Good luck with the doctor. Do you have to wait long for an appointment?

  12. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsTiz: Oh no. Poor Jack! When is the appt?

@anbanan15: Ugh! Mine is probably my period with my luck lol!

@Ash: haha nah! The bleeding has only slowed down to more like spotting in the last few days....I'm sure yours will too soon. With DS I remember seeing some random bleeding right after I returned to work one day. I thought it was my period, but it was just that one day and only a few hours. AF ended up staying away for 17 glorious months

@anbanan15: @Ash: It's on the 30th, so we'll either be spending NYE out of town, or home with a miserable baby

@MrsTiz: ohh by the 30th is really close! Who cares about how/where you spend NYE when it means being able to get your LO seen quickly I know how long you can wait to see specialists so that's really good!

Here's my birth story, BTW. Warning: it is loooooooong. Like, really long. http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/my-butter-birth-a-lesson-in-living-in-the-moment

@MrsTiz: Aw, poor little guy! Hope it doesn't end up to be too big an ordeal! One of my friends' babies had that condition, but he was diagnosed at just a week or so of age, so hopefully your little guy's case isn't too severe if they're only recommending it be checked out now. With my friend's baby, they had some kind of monitor, but no surgery and he's 3 and outgrown it by now.

Just had my post partum appointment at 1 month pp. Midwife said that bleeding typically lasts longer with 2nd babies and can increase with activity (ie baking cookies), but my bleeding is still within "normal" ranges. Everything is where it should be and I got the go ahead to do whatever, no restrictions.

I'm not sure what we are doing for BC. I wasn't keen on the idea of the mini pill since it made DS sick and caused an FPIES reaction due to one or more of it's ingredients. Knowing the trouble we had with DS my midwife was actually not really willing to write me a script anyway, unless I really wanted it. She said she would rather me no put anything extra in my body while breastfeeding this time.

On the huge plus said she said that if I confined to nurse just as long as I did with DS she expect AF to stay away as long as, if not longer, than last time. Happy dance because I will gladly take 17+ mo of that freedom

DD has her one month on the 26th de to the holidays.

And only another note...the holiday traffic and crazy westher! Snow storms last week and 70 degree weather this week. Is it really December?!

@Ash: I had spotting up to 6 weeks. It would seem to go away but then if I had a busy day there would be spotting, sometimes bright red, the next day. But I haven't had any in the last two weeks (Reagan will be 8 weeks tomorrow!). Hopefully yours doesn't last much longer.

@MrsTiz: Hope everything goes well at Jack's appointment.

@anbanan15: Baha, I've been hearing all about your crazy weather. You can keep it! I would be MAD if we had spring-like weather at Christmas- because then I'd get spring fever and still have to suffer through at least 4 months of winter. No thanks. It's barely been out of the single digits for nearly a week here, I don't think we'll get anywhere close to 0 today and I still much prefer it. The fact that we've had several nice snows and little wind to blow it around and make it gross helps too.

@Ash: Mine was only bright red for a couple of weeks, but it's still here (very light). Every time I think it's gone, it comes back a few days later At this point (5.5 weeks pp), its very light brown...just enough to be annoying.

@MrsTiz: Oh no! Nathan breathes like that sometimes and it used to really freak me out. His ped said since his doesn't seem so bad, we'll see how he's doing at his 2 month appointment, but she thinks his is pretty normal (just really loud breathing, almost wheezing). I'll be thinking about Jack! The doctors at Duke are really amazing!!

@FarmWifeGina: I am just not looking forward to what often accompanies sudden weather changes..illness bleh!

@MrsTiz: Ugggh, thinking of you all, no fun. I hope it all goes well and turns out ok!

@Mrs. Pink: Gaaah, too cute!! Haahaha, I love the jellybean outfit!

@Ash: No bleeding at all, but I'm about 3 weeks ahead of you, I finally gave up the panty liners, so that was exciting!

We had a Christmas party on Saturday, which kind of blew. LO got super overstimulated...and quick, so we spent most of the party in a quiet(er) room bouncing with her on my chest. Today we headed to the Children's Hospital for her hip ultrasound. We don't have results yet, but the tech. made it sound like to her, things looked good (we should have results by the end of the week...). Anyway, we hit up Outback for lunch, which was great!

Any tips for nursing using the stupid cover (tent)? Every time I've tried it, we end up a tangled mess! Stupid cover! CDs still going well, still just using them during the day. Not sure what to do because my diaper bag doesn't seem big enough to hold more than...1?

Totally can't remember what I wrote last, but she's still sleeping with me, which is awesome! She was restless last night, but still better than when I was trying to rock her and put her down in the RnP. I had DH bring her to me in the bath again last night, too. She loooves it, just kind of floats around!

We have her 2 month appt. set up for the 6th...I'm DYING to know how much she weighs, so we'll see if I can hold off until then! I've totally given up tracking feedings/diapers, which has been great. I really should pay a little more attention to her diapers just to make sure she's getting enough, but her cheeks/double chins/thigh rolls aren't going anywhere, so we might be fine! Still just trying to pump in the morning so I can get about 2.5-3 oz every 2 days.

But yeah, I'll stop, just rambling as LO nurses! Oh, anyone totally over it getting dark so early? That combined with the snow and cold is killing me!!

  23. Turd Ferguson

    pomegranate / 3160 posts

Oh, also, question. I think LO is wrapping up the 6 week growth spurt. She seems to be sleeping a lot. Like, she'll usually fall asleep at the end of nursing and just...sleep. Normal?

  24. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@ms.janedoe: Yay for a promising appointment. I know techs usually can't say anything but you can often read them, so that sounds good.

The nursing cover was HORRIBLE with DS and we often just went without it (I wore shirts that I could work around it, not nursing tops though), nursed in the Ergo or used an A&A blanket. He got so hot in the nursing covers that he wouldn't nurse well. I made an infinity scarf style cover this time out of cotton jersey knit but haven't used it yet, so I'm not sure if it's better or not. I plan on making some tops like the Bun maternity tanks at some point.

I got a Danzo Weekender because my previous bag was too small with cloth and it was a larger diaper bag

  25. Turd Ferguson

    pomegranate / 3160 posts

Uggggh, totally thought LO had shat, she was farting up a storm so I assumed poop was involved so I got her up to change her... No poop. Not even a dirty fast. Now I have an awake baby, but at least I know for sure she isn't poopy!

@anbanan15: ooooh, I'll check out that bag. I'll also give ab A&A blanket a shot. It blows because I have no problem NIP, I'm totally down with the whole "it's a boob, get over it" camp, but I figure I'll at least try when I'm out with DH/in a restaurant or something. Blah.

  26. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@ms.janedoe: the A&a are so much more breathable. Still a pita though. The Danzo is expensive. I got mine off Gilt for a great price. It is almost like a carryon bag though and is pretty heavy empty, but I still like it. A larger PPB might work too. My friend who CD'd used the boxy backpack (I think that's the one she had from PPB). She upgraded to the Danzo Weekender with the 2nd baby also.

@MrsTiz: I hope everything goes well!

    @anbanan15: 17 months? Holy smokes!
My bleeding let up yesterday - my concern was that it was nearly gone a week ago and then came back with a vengeance!

@ms.janedoe: never wake a sleeping baby!
Oh, and in all my readings about growth spurts (since lo is going through the 3 week), sleeping a lot is normal. Hopefully we hit the end soon and he actually sleeps rather than staying awake for 12hrs during the day.

  28. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: That was my concern too. I mentioned it yesterday and she said she would still consider that normal and asked if I had been active. I said no then she noticed my war wounds from baking cookies and said that counts as being active which would increase the bleeding...basically she said as long as I'm not siting around holding the baby all day, I'm active lol. Are you doing more lately?

  29. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@anbanan15: Yeah I am. Mainly cuz I'm home alone most of the time so I'm doing laundry and sweeping the floors. Someone's gotta do it! Hahah. Maybe that's why it was less when we were in the hospital - cuz I laid around!

  30. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: I bet! Haha I hear you! Someone has got to do it! Don't forget to rest too

  31. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@anbanan15: I try! Little mister is growth spurting so he doesn't sleep and therefore mommy doesn't sleep. But I do try!

  32. Mrs. Pink

    GOLD / kiwi / 605 posts

@Ash: mine stopped the other day-- we'll be 6w PP tomorrow if you go by counting actual weeks, Caroline will be 6 Weeks Friday.

This maybe TMI but I'm sort of hoping it shows back up b/c I gave in to hubby last night and we DTD... we used PNP because we didn't have anything in the house

it's seriously a HUGE long shot but I'm paranoid about it now because hubby isn't always on top of things with PNP....

Even though it took 5+ years to get pregnant without any BC methods, you always hear that odd story... and I'm not EBF so it's technically possible

  33. Mrs. Pink

    GOLD / kiwi / 605 posts

@ms.janedoe: mine does that all the time-- I've stopped waking her up unless she's particularly stinky or her diaper has a blue line

  34. anbanan15

So I just found bright red blood specs and mucus in my 4 week olds diaper....Merry Christmas to me!

  35. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

    @anbanan15: that's normal!

  36. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: Really? Because she is a girl? Because when we had blood that looked just like this with DS the doctor said it was due to allergies.

  37. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@anbanan15: we tell moms it's normal cuz baby girls can have little periods. Not sure if it's abnormal since she's 4wks though.

  38. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: If this was my first or DS didn't have FPIES, I would totally think little period, but it looks exactly like DS's reaction diapers I don't have any hemoccult cards on hand at the moment, so I took pictures for the doc on Thursday when we have her 1 month appointment (I would normally call now/tomorrow and they would ask for the diaper but with the holiday). She has been a little fussier lately which I thought was due to hitting the first wonder week.

  39. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@anbanan15: Oooooh, I hope it isn't the same thing!

  40. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@Ash: Ugh defiently not vaginal discharge. She just had a bunch of runny stools while on the changing table and I could see the blood coming out. The last diaper I changed was filled with it! My mom is on her way over to see if we can (hopefully) find a fissure...do you think I can save a diaper in the fridge until Thursday?

    ETA: no fever
