Just catching up, glad everyone's doing well! I have been having a rough week. More spotting for a few days, with (sorry TMI!) some red stringy bits and weird looking discharge. Also been cramping quite a bit (off and on) and had some sort of dizzy spell last night where I saw spots and got all sweaty and felt faint. Have reported this all to the doctor and have just been told there's not much to do about any of this since all my tests and scans have been 100% perfect so just to rest up and take it easy. I am so anxious all the time, it really sucks. Wish I could enjoy the pregnancy. I'm going to go for a quick checkup again tomorrow, just with a medical resident, and will ask her to listen to the heartbeat... just need to do something to make me feel a bit better.

Anyway, hoping things get better soon. Was really hoping by 13 weeks it would be a whole lot better than this!

Had my 12 week appointment today (new OB practice since we recently moved) and heard the heartbeat! Relieved things are going well. Midwife encouraged me to do my glucose test today just in case I have GD (not sure why she might think I'm higher risk or something, wasn't GD with first although he was a pretty big baby), so that was fun drinking that disgusting drink and having eight vials of blood drawn...weee! Assuming baby will be a boy (lots of boys in the family) but we'll definitely try to find out at the 20 week anatomy scan.

@Goldengirl: That uncertainty isn't fun I'm glad you're getting in to hear the heartbeat tomorrow! That'll hopefully ease some of your anxiety.
@NorCalWayfarer: 8 vials?! That seems like a crazy amount for only 1 test.

@littlebear16: Well I'm assuming it was all my first trimester labs since I haven't had any labs done thus far. But it still felt like a lot!

@NorCalWayfarer: ah, yep that was probably it. I know they took a ton from me for those tests.

@Goldengirl: ugh you have really had a rough go of things so far. Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. I know it is hard to stay positive through all of this but since everything has looked great so far, just concentrate on that!!
@NorCalWayfarer: ugh I hate that glucose drink and am not looking forward to it at all. So great that you got to hear the HB at 12 weeks!!!

@delight: Thank you! I know odds are everything will be fine, since I've had the same spotting the whole time with lots of good scans, so it's unlikely anything to do with the baby. Still, it's driving me NUTS!

@NorCalWayfarer: I had five vials taken last week and I thought it was a ton!

@Goldengirl: Sorry you've had so many ups and downs! Hope things calm down soon.

So my doctor called me on the Monday after my labs on Friday and I kind of freaked out! But I guess there was bacteria in my urine so I needed to get antibiotics. Glad that's all it was and he didn't seem concerned!

I had an AWFUL week and a half of morning sickness, but then yesterday and today I felt a tiny bit better - maybe finally on the upswing? Anyone else still feeling super sick?

Had my appointment today. 16 weeks 2 days. Everything sounded good. My anatomy scan is June 3rd. We are getting an elective ultrasound tomorrow to find out the gender. It's killing me not to know already. I am almost 100% sure it's a boy but I need to know for sure. I was supposed to start my progesterone shots today but my insurance is insisting on a PA so I start them next week instead. They did show DH how to administer the shot I am not excited to say the least but if it bakes this baby longer I will do it. I am so excited for the weekend the ultrasound, family pictures/announcement pictures , dinner with my BFF and then ball game on Sunday. I am just hoping I can feel good all weekend we shall see.

Just checking in here - it's been awhile 16.5 weeks and I've had a bit of a week from hell. I have a brutal cold (no meds is certainly the opposite of fun!) and I've had spotting three times this week.

It started after a regular workout, and on Thursday it was red. I spoke to my midwife and she wanted to get me in for an ultrasound to see the source... after a series of weird circumstances (my midwife went off-call and the wrong clinic was contacted), I had spotting again yesterday and my alternate midwife didn't want to risk it and gave me an early shot of Rhogam since I'm RhNegative.

No spotting yet today, and it's been super minimal. We've listened into the babe's heartbeat twice this week, and it's good and strong

Just catching up and hope everyone is doing well! I had a bad bout of viral gastroenteritis that is going around school. Ended up in and out of the hospital with dehydration because I couldn't keep anything down for several days. Once they gave me a few bags of iv fluids and the bug passed I felt much better. My doctor sent me for an ultrasound to be safe because I lost 6 lbs and we still hadn't heard the heartbeat.

As soon as the u/s tech put the wand on my belly we could see the little babe. It literally bounced from side-to-side the entire time. You could see the little legs bend before it would launch itself . I definitely had a happy cry and my husband just had the most wonderful dopey smile on his face the whole time. Heartbeat was 165. Seeing the doctor on Tuesday for my next prenatal visit and get any other details that the u/s tech may not have been able to give us. Such a relief!

@teacherbee: gastro bugs while pregnant are the worst...I also ended up hospitalized on IV fluids both pregnancies, so I feel your pain. My girls both had the bug about two weeks ago and I felt bad but was making DH do as much of the care as possible to avoid it! Glad you are feelng better and you got to see your babe! Silver linings, right?

@MrsRcCar: will be eager to hear your news! Sorry if that's stalker-ish, I'm just really intrigued to see what other families who also have two of the same sex already are getting! We might opt for a elective ultrasound too, I just have to decide if I'd trust the result! I don't know why I'm a little wary about it...I know my doc could be wrong as well! 😜

@LatteLove: Hope your sickness is on the upswing! I am feeling way better at 16w but still have random mornings of sickness.
@Tasha: congrats on wonderful results and a healthy baby girl!
@narwhal: I'm sorry for the spotting. I've been there and it's very scary. So glad you've had some good listens to baby's heart!
@teacherbee: ugh sorry you have been so sick. That sounds just awful. Are you almost done work for the summer? So nice you got to see your baby bouncing around this week!
@MrsRcCar: wow congrats on another baby boy!!! So exciting!!

Anyone else find their symptoms let up then came back? The past couple weeks my nausea seemed to disappear and appetite majorly came back. But now the past couple days I'm feeling how I was before, where I get soooo full after I eat only a bit of food and then feel queasy for a bit after until I'm starving again. Thought it was gone!

We got back from our vacation last week and then I promptly got sick with a bad cold when we got home. I felt awful all weekend and am finally feeling better today. It's so hard being sick while pregnant bc you can't take any of the good meds to help alleviate the symptoms.

Since I felt better today I did more purging of all the girl clothes I saved (fortunately one of my friends is having a girl).

@Goldengirl: I feel pretty good most of the time, but my appetite has really decreased. I guess it's helping to slow down the weight gain, but it's frustrating because food tastes good again and I want to eat!
    @MrsRcCar: How cute! Congratulations!
@sandy: I just got over a cold and I had such a hard time sleeping at night because I couldn't breathe. I wanted nyquil so bad!

@goldengirl OMG yes! So weird- I've been feeling really great and today I got nauseous and threw up at Target. We just got back from NYC so I'm hoping I just got some 24 hour bug from the subway or something.

@narwhal I am so sorry you had such a scare, but it's good to know you were able to hear baby's heartbeat!

@teacherbee Sorry you haven't been feeling well

I just got impatient and booked an elective gender reveal ultrasound for Saturday...eeeek!

Not sure if we'll tell our family yet - we're getting pressure to announce at an upcoming family event, and we haven't decided yet whether or not we want to!

Had my first appointment today. I'm having a repeat c-section and it looks like we'll be scheduling it a week before my due date. That puts us really close to Thanksgiving, so my doctor bumped my due date to what baby was measuring at to give us more time before the holiday. New due date is the 27th! I'll be scheduling the actual date in a few months. I did find it odd that my csection will be so close to my due date. Hopefully I don't go into labor early!

  33. sandy

    cantaloupe / 6687 posts

@littlebear16: your doctor's comfort level in scheduling a repeat csection totally depends on what necessitated your first csection. My first was an unplanned csection after I went into labor naturally at 40w2d and due to failure to progress (and eventually signs of distress and infection for me and LO). So for my 2nd pregnancy my OB was totally ok scheduling my csection for 40 weeks (and of course changing if there were signs of needing to move it up). For other unforeseen reasons I ended up having my second at 37 weeks. My new OB has said he always schedules repeat csections for 39 weeks. That means I'm looking at 11/21 for my csection date. That's the Monday before Thanksgiving

I'm 13 weeks and thankfully the nausea and exhaustion has gotten so much more manageable! It's still there and some days are better than others but mostly it's just not as bad as it was! I hope others are feeling better!

This pregnancy has just been so much harder on my body. I can't walk or exert myself without cramping and having shortness of breath and then eventually spotting. My OB says that means my body is telling me to take it easy for whatever reason and I need to listen. No lifting or pushing or exerting myself and lots of rest. I had hoped to be one of those pregnant women who could run and work out during pregnancy.

  35. littlebear16

    cherry / 116 posts

@sandy: My first was similar to yours. Wasn't progressing past a 7 with pitocin and I also had an infection. The reason Im having a repeat csection is because my uterus wouldn't shrink back down and I hemorrhaged. My doctor's worried it might happen again. I guess I'm worried about what will happen if my body goes into labor, but that's something I'll need to ask him about. Thanks for sharing your experience! Looks like we'll be delivering around the same time.

  36. sandy

    cantaloupe / 6687 posts

@littlebear16: I had the same issue with my uterus refusing to contract back down and almost required a transfusion after my first. I've heard this is common with unplanned csections. Planned csections are way easier bc you aren't laboring for hours and hours

  37. littlebear16

    cherry / 116 posts

@sandy: Glad to know it happened to someone else. My doctor seems confident that this time should go a little better because they can plan for the possibility of it happening again. Last time I almost lost my uterus and that's still a possibility this time, so I'm getting anxious about it already.

@sandy: I've had some shortness of breath too and feel so sluggish all the time... am exhausted after walking only a few KM!

@sandy: I feel the same as you re: nausea and fatigue. After 12 weeks it started getting better. Not gone completely, I have great days and days that are kind of crappy. I felt great all weekend and was able to go out with LO, do some gardening, and cleaning. But then Wednesday I threw up my breakfast and dinner. lol. At least it is better than before 12 weeks when I felt like crap every day. 14 weeks now! Fatigue is also hit or miss. Some days I feel good and can stay up until 10pm and others I am struggling not to fall asleep at 7pm.

@sandy: Glad you're feeling better! I agree that it is irksome to not be able to take any cold/flu medicine when you're sick!

@delight: My due date was changed to Nov. 25th based on the ultrasound. I'm happy because that lines up with what I thought based on suspected O day. Hopefully it will still be a November baby and I don't go late.
