@Goldengirl: congrats on a great scan and finding out it is a healthy boy!!
@dragonsword: About a week or so ago I had a couple good days but then went back to feeling crappy. That only lasted a few days though and now all is good! It sounds like you are turning the corner!

We have a big list of boy and girls names from before and we have talked about them a bit. My favourite for girls are Natalie, Vanessa and Lucy. For boys, I like Zachary and Gregory. DH likes those as well. Sometimes I want to just call my genetic counsellor up and ask her to just tell me the gender since we did test for it on the NIPT. Then I remember how amazing it was when we gave birth to DD and found out it was a girl and I think I can make it through another 25 weeks of not knowing!

@Goldengirl: Hurray for great results and congrats on the boy! I'm kind of jealous of those having a boy! I'm glad you got to see your baby move around too!

@delight: Thank you! You're amazing for being able to wait... the second the nurse was like "do you want to know gender?" I said YES! Haha. Still so many names to choose from though! Lucy was always one of my faves for a girl

@dragonsword: It's funny because deep down I wanted a girl, even though of course I just wanted it to be healthy first and foremost. But now I'm so excited about it being a boy. There's really no bad option

    @Goldengirl: congrats on the boy!!
@delight: you are stronger than I am! I couldn't wait to hear. I'm sure it is amazing finding out right after birth though!!

@delight: I fly out to Hawaii this Thursday so I was really hoping I'd be feeling perfect by then. It's not tooooooooo bad, so I can't complain that much. I agree with @goldengirl for your ability to wait!

I was literally down the street from my house (leaving the dentist's office) when I received the vmail from my doctor's office. I could've waited to go home to call them back but I actually wanted to find out first! When I got home I looked at my DH and he JUST KNEW and said, I'M GETTING A GIRL!? I was like how the hellllllllllll did you know by just looking at my face. I'm glad I was the one to tell him though even though I didn't have to tell him. lol.

I like Natalie! ugh, names are too hard.

@MrsRcCar: Isn't it so funny how groups of people all have babies at the same time? When I had DD, FIVE of my friends were pregnant... and four of those same friends are pregnant with #2 right now (plus two other friends are having their first). There is something in the water around here for sure.

@delight: DD was a Natalie up until a few weeks before she was born. Possibly a contender if this one's a girl! I just don't love the nickname options.

    @littlebear16: I know, that's how I feel about Natalie too! I don't love "Nat".
@dragonsword: have an awesome time in Hawaii. I hope you're feeling great by the time your vacation rolls around!
@kes18: @Goldengirl: I am definitely a lone wolf in my group of friends for being Team Green! We already have so much girl stuff and boy stuff from cousins so no matter what, we are set!

@LAZB: @kes18: yay, boys! So excited for you both.

@delight: I LOVE being on Team Green. Not just for the delivery room surprise, but also because it drives everyone crazy that we don't find out. It's like one little thing I can control, when people drive me crazy with the inappropriate questions/comments/belly touches.

Speaking of, does anyone else get bothered by this question after you announce your pregnancy?
"Were you planning this, or was it a surprise?"
It drives me bonkers! Its always asked by acquaintance or coworkers and people I'm not close to and would never share this with, and I just can't believe people think it is an appropriate question to ask!

I have a response all prepared ("that's a really personal question I don't feel comfortable answering" or I could even go spiritual - my husband's a pastor - and say "It was all in God's plan"), but I've been too chicken to say anything other than "uh, yeah", knowing how uncomfortable it would make people. I guess no more uncomfortable than their asking it makes me, though!

@dragonsword: We are deep in the naming game. We have a girl name pretty much set in stone, and we want to have some back-ups but love the one we have so much.

For boy names, we have a few contenders... but nothing we are totally in love with.

My mom is convinced this means it's a girl because she could never come up with boy names when she was pregnant with me, and same scenario for my brother.

Thanks for all of the congratulations! Sorry I've been a bit mia, I'm wrapping up things at work since Monday will be my last day, so I've been busy.
@LatteLove: that's so rude that people ask you that! No one has asked me (with any of ours actually), probably a good thing because I'm not as polite as you :)@dragonsword: so funny, your husband totally knows you! Good thing! Also, my best friend is named Natalie, so I approve of that choice
@caterw: six of us are due within a month and a half of each other, it really does come in waves!

@LatteLove WHY do people think that pregnancy is everyone's business?? Sorry you are having to deal with this!

So my first appointment was finally today. Unfortunately I locked my keys in the trunk right before I needed to leave. I had to call and cancel. I'm so mad a myself because I've been waiting 6+ weeks for my first appoinment. The next available one is in 2 weeks, so I guess Ill be 13 weeks the first time I get to see my doctor. I just wanted reassurance that everything's okay!

@littlebear16: oh, that's such a disappointment. Did you ask them to put you on a waitlist in case anyone cancels their appointment? Sometimes that works with my OB!

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@littlebear16: oh my gosh I'm sorry. That's such a bummer. I agree with trying to get on a waitlist!
@LAZB: just out of curiously, as Natalie is one of our top choices, what nickname does your friend go by? Or is it always just Natalie?

@LatteLove: ew. Someone I wasn't close with to begin with asked me that when I was pregnant with DD1..only she phrased it "Was it planned or an accident?" In front of a big group at a dinner. Um yeah, she never was invited to any event I had say in ever again. Some people!

  21. littlebear16

@LatteLove: Good idea! Didn't think to ask that.

@LAZB: @caterw: @PinkElephant: I'm noramlly the type of person to just say what I think, but I think the hormones of pregnancy (and SERIOUS pregnancy brain) made me unable to respond they way I wanted!

Anyone else experiencing pregnancy brain hardcore? I'm forgetting everything! Forgot my wallet at home and didn't realize until I was already in the Chick Fil A drive through (they gave me my lunch for free!) Forgot to leave a check for my husband that he needed, forgot to bring extra diapers to daycare. Forgot to email something to my coworker Friday before the weekend. It's driving me crazy!!

@LatteLove: Popping in from October, but I lost my pens last week. On my desk. I'm not sure how that happened. I also thought my coworker stole the scissors that were right in front of me. I literally could not see them. I'm such a spaz.

    @littlebear16 that sucks!

@dragonsword congrats! I will be totally shocked if mine turns out to be a girl. I've been so set up in my head that it's a boy!

@lattelove I got asked that yesterday! The question is what took me by surprise! I'm like... I'm 29, married to the man I've been with for 7 years, and we moved home last year and bought a house. What do you think?!!!

I was at a work conference last week that I was helping run, and the rumors started swirling! I wasn't drinking at any dinners or happy hours and I was eating a lot and looking tired. Suddenly people started asking me and one guy even asked me in front of our CEO. WTF?! Some people. I'm not showing at all, so there's no reason that people should have been so suspicious! The good news is that everyone started treating me really well and giving me lots of breaks, lol. So I came back to the office and told my coworkers. They're very excited. Then earlier this week I just couldn't stand the fact that it'll be another month before I hear the baby. So I caved and bought the Wusic (womb music) on Amazon and it came. I used it today and found the heart beat in minutes! I texted my friend who is 28 weeks and she had me bring it with me for our walk and we sat in her car and took turns listening to our babies hearts. It was cute. Now I'm going to be addicted to it...

When are you all going "public" with the news? We're starting to get a lot of the close people who already know asking us "when can we tell?" Everyone is excited for us to spill to the world it seems. I really want to share with all friends/family/randoms on the street... but it's so hard to feel "safe", or like I won't jinx it somehow... which I know is just my own paranoia! I'll prob let the cat out of the bag next week (after 13 weeks). Not sure I'll ever feel in the clear, but I want to share the excitement and not feel like I'm harbouring a secret any longer.

Heard the heartbeat at my checkup today for the first time, it was so cool! I recorded it on my phone and have been listening on repeat hahah.

@Goldengirl: I did yesterday, 12 weeks. I knew the sex and had good results on my NIPT so I figured I might as well. Glad I only have to do one announcement though!
@Plainpistachio: that's great about work! I am planning to tell work today lol. I am always so nervous. Mostly because it feels awkward to make an "announcement".

  28. LatteLove

    apricot / 441 posts

@Goldengirl: I'm due a day after you and we are probably going public next week. We've started telling more than just our closest friends - people that I can't ask to keep a secret. So it's probably time to get the social media post out!

Not looking good. I had some bleeding this morning. Right now it's just a bit of brown blood, but I'm fearing the worst. I've also had discharge the past few days similar to what I had when I lost my mucous plug with DD and I think my cervix is open. My office doesn't have an after hours line, so I'll be calling in on Monday. I really hope they don't brush me off and set me up for an ultrasound.

@Goldengirl: we announced at 14 weeks. It was SO HARD not to spill the beans beforehand. My other friend is due in September and they waited 21 weeks!!! How they kept it in is a total mystery to me.

@littlebear16: Have you gone to the ER? That's what my office had me do with spotting. They should be able to do an ultrasound there.

@littlebear16: oh my goodness. I hope everything is ok. I would go to the ER too, it is so hard waiting over a weekend for answers. Praying for you and that baby and really hoping for the best.

@Goldengirl: we started telling extended family and close friends after our NT scan just after 12 weeks. We had our NIPT results back by then too . We've just been slowly telling people as we see them.

Went to the ER. I couldn't wait until Monday. Baby's fine! Measuring 11+6, so even a few days ahead. Heartbeat was 158. They couldn't find a reason for the bleeding, so hopefully it stays away. They still need to rule it a threatened miscarriage because of the bleeding, but the doctor said baby looks good. Thanks for the good thoughts!

@Mrs. Confetti: @delight: Thanks! I was pretty sure that we were losing the baby, so seeing the heartbeat was a huge relief! Of course I'll still be nervous for awhile, but for now I'm trying to stay positive.

hhi guys just popping in finally - been MIA between fatigue, my boys and work. We found out yesterday that it's a GIRL (and after two boys, I was SHOCKED!). We're announcing on FB today. Crazy how the weeks are flying by!!

@littlebear16: glad you had positive news! I tell this story a lot, so apologies if you've read it before, but I had just awful bleeding at 6 and 12 weeks with DD1. Like you, I went to the ER and was sure the pregnancy was over. But happily, I had no further bleeding and that baby is now nearly four! I had no bleeding at all with her little sister, and none so far at 15 weeks with #3....so hopefully you won't have this same worry with future pregnancies either!!

@Mrs. Confetti: congrats! I agree, if this baby is a boy (after two girls), I'll be shocked (and a little scared!)
