@Beebug: You are a champ. I'd be in serious whiner mode if I was in your situation, but you are handling this all so well!
@hellobeeboston: I hope the membrane sweep worked its magic!
    @Mrs.B: Alia is so gorgeous!
@CarrieLouWho: great job on the nursery!

Hey everyone, I've been keeping up with this thread but just haven't had the time to write anything or reply to everyone.

Good luck to all those ladies still waiting to go into labor. It really can happen any day. It definitely took me by surprise.

Baby A and I are doing great. I'm really hoping I can get a chance to write up my birth plan soon to share with all of you. It really couldn't have gone any better. @Hilsy85: you will definitely be happy that you have a doula there for support.

It feels great to be able to move around easier and bend over now. Like others have said, everything feels so squishy. BFing was really hard the first 24 hours. It felt so awkward. Don't be afraid to ask for help to get the baby latched. I had a nurse with me every time I tried to feed. The lactation consultant came to see me twice and I had my doula there to help with the first BFing after delivery. Now 3 days pp and things are going much smoother. As far as nipple soreness, it hasn't been bad for me. I think what has helped is after every feeding, I manually extract some milk and rub it all over my nipples and then just let them air dry for awhile. I walk around with my boobs out a lot b/c I think the air to them helps with the soreness.

Here is baby A! We're just so much in love with him already.

    @mrskc: Too cute!

    40+5 today! Come on baby!

I hate living in a subdivision, but when walking the dog this morning ran into a couple, and she is two days overdue, the amount of babies in such a little stretch of houses is seriously nuts. I know four babies born in the last two months within a block, this lady and I, then there are two more due in December, it's so awesome and will be great to have new Mom's that close for once the dust settles, we're into somewhat of a routine and can perhaps get together on a regular basis!

@Mrs.B: I wanted to ask you (and not sure if any other October Mom's are too) but have you started CD'ing yet? If yes, when did you start, if no, when do you plan to start?

    I am getting SO excited!!!

Update on a somewhat disappointing appointment. I'm 38w4d, and last week I was 1 cm dilated. Today - absolutely no progress. 1 cm dilated but "long". I did lose 1 lb though. Am I going backwards?? I try to remind myself that my yoga friend was not dilated at all our class last Thursday night, and she won't be there tonight because she had her baby Tuesday. Oh well...
Tomorrow is my last day of work, which I'm thrilled about but I don't want to spend too much time at home, bored and wondering when this baby is going to come.
Sorry to be such a whiner!

@Beebug: We started CDing when we got home from the hospital. So far it's going great. It is easier then I thought it would be.

Soooooo I think I'm in labour? Early labour if anything!

11 hours of contractions so far. Varying "consistency" last night 5-6 mins apart, but only 45 seconds or so. I did get some sleep through the night, and some definitely woke me up, they are stronger and longer this am, but further apart. Baby is moving, still debating if DH should just go to work, I am doing some baking and cleaning.....so the waiting game begins I suppose! I will call my doctor's office when they open this morning, and am headed to hospital for 1pm anyways for biophysical u/s, and I might just stop in at L&D to be checked....! Mucus plug definitely gone, yuck....pretty much all in one shot it seemed! Contractions come on stronger when I am up and about it seems, but maybe that's just me being dramatic, lol.

Will see what the next little while brings I don't think it'll be a quick labour though, ha!

    I'm hanging in here!

DH went to work, contractions are super strong, but super irregular. Glad I am going to the hospital for 1pm for the U/S, and will get checked since I will be there anyways!

I had a shower, through three contractions, that was super wonderfully amazing!

Super tired, and napped some more this morning too, which was amazing, will see if I can get a little more shut eye in!

Slow and steady over here. Long, painful contractions, some back labour, I'm pretty hurtin'!

I was at the hospital for the u/s, which everything looked fine, and so stopped at L&D because we were already there, and we opted to not hook up and see how things were, going to continue to wait things out. I am definitely already on board for drugs for the pain and how tired I am already, I'm no hero and will definitely happy take anything when we get there, the pain now this early into it is more than enough of an experience, lol.

Going to try to get some downtime here, glad DH worked today, I am just going to try to rest!

Baby Beebug (BB!) is finally here!

9lbs, 10 oz, she is a massive hairy beast!!!

She has a mop of dark brown hair!

We got to hospital around 8 last night, but 10 rolled around and I was puking through contractions in so.much.pain!

So morphine, epi by 11 or so, slept through most of the night, fully dilated by 5:30am, pushing by 6:30am, she arrived 7:46am, one small tear, what an incredible marathon! 23" long, nursed great so far, I am sore (so sore!!!) and super tired!

She remained nameless for two hours, but we finally chose. I will eventually re-activate fb, and post pics and her name in the Oct Mama's group!

@Tidybee: @hellobeeboston: hang in there girls!

Mamas who've had their babies, how's the healing down there going? I felt great but now feeling more sore. I'm guessing its the stitches from my 2nd degree tear. I hate how it's such a production to go to the bathroom.

A is asleep on my chest. I love just snuggling with him. I can't stop kissing his sweet face.

  32. CarrieLouWho

    persimmon / 1408 posts

@mrskc - I'm 13 days pp and my bleeding has pretty much subsided. I can feel my stitches (3rd degree tear + urethra tear), they are kind of itchy, but in a place I can't scratch I am less and less sore every day, but still know there's damage if that makes sense. I can't sit in a hard chair for super long. I haven't taken any pain meds in a few days ( I only did Advil and Tylenol -more powerful stuff makes me nauseous). I'm also good on bathroom trips... It's not so bad anymore.

    clementine / 961 posts

@Beebug: Congrats and holy cow I would have never guessed Baby Beebug was so big.

@mrskc: At 13 days PP my bleeding is almost completely gone and my lady bits are fine. I did not tear though so that is probably why my lady bits do not hurt. The only real pain I had was in my butt. If I sat for to long then my butt would be so sore for some reason. I haven't had any issues for a few days now.

Thanks ladies! We are pretty tired tonight! DH has probably had her more than me today, they are adorable together!

She could seriously have a haircut already, her hair is like an inch long, it's hilarious! None of the hats I made or anything newborn size fits!

@beebug - None of our NB stuff worked either!!! We are in 0-3 or 3 mos (3-6 is a little big). Luckily we didn't buy too much in the NB department.
We did have some NB diapers... We tried those on when we got home and they did not work! Straight to size 1s!!!

Oh! I just thought about it... We've been using the BabyConnect app for the last week & it's awesome! It's $5 and I don't usually spend much on apps, but I love all the info this one holds. Like, in the last week, we've gone through 90 diapers and I've nursed for almost 18 hours!

@CarrieLouWho: love that app. DH bought it too and I love that we can sync it.

    Hi ladies,

Just checking in a quick hello. We came home from the hospital just after noon today. We had a lot of visitors....I was feeling slightly overwhelmed! Now just DH, BB and I (and the dog, who has been adorable staring at BB!) and things are awesome!

Still finding our way, but it's seriously amazing! Hope everyone is doing well

Glad to hear you made it home @BeeBug!!!
It's almost 230 am on the East Coast... Anyone else up for a nursing session?
Hubby goes back to work tomorrow. I'm so bummed. He's been a HUGE help for the last 2 weeks... Now it's just me and baby girl for the next 10, we are going to miss him during the day!
