@Mrs.B: Definitely hope this birth is very different, and much better for you!!!
@Running Elley: Yay about last day! I officially begin maternity leave Oct 1st now, even though I am not working. I will have to go meet with HR to divvy up my remaining vacation balance and mat leave time, and when I will return Fall, 2013!
@mrskc: Wow, that outfit is adorable! I think I am definitely going to play around with a newborn shoot, just DIY, or bug a photog friend to come have fun, but that outfit is SO cute.
@hilsy85: She was induced her previous preg and was deadset against it for this one, the next episode I watched was a same sex couple that had triplet boys, and twin boys due, goodness gracious, I changed the channel, lol.
@Mrs.B: When we got back from vacation I went through my closet and packed like half my maternity clothes away, definitely outgrew them, or they just didn't fit as nicely (or I didn't like the way they looked anymore!) and away they went! Definitely more limited now, but trying to stay comfy and make what I have work -I am definitely not purchasing more.
I was thinking a lot this morning about my previous pregnancy and the due date coming for that. When I was on wb seeing the "Sapphire Mamas" thread, shimmer and mccarthy from this forum breaking out the BFPs first, and then the loss of PennyLainne, her DH and Sapphire Baby this spring, my EDD for the previous pregnancy was Sept 14th, obviously no cycle in between with our Oct 13th EDD. It was an early loss and such a shock that we were even pregnant, and we were pregnant again so soon I didn't really "dwell" on it too much, but definitely got a good cry on about it this morning. Everything happens for a reason....
I had a bowl of cereal this am, I cut dairy yesterday, made it one whole day. I know I want to get better, but I've been nauseous and only feel like eating a few things, cereal being one of them, so I went for it, rebel!

My 34w apt went awesome I gained less then a pound since my last apt 2 weeks ago I remembered most of my questions for my OB this time although next time I need to write them down so I don't forget. I thought of a few I forgot to ask on my drive home. She gave me her views on delayed cord clamping. We decided to wait a few minutes to clamp but not to wait until it stops pulsating. She has some good insight and I am pleased with our decision. At my next apt I will be 36w5d so I'm hoping maybe she will do an internal exam. I doubt it but I'm hoping she does.

I had my 35.3 week appointment on Tuesday, and everything went well! I had to be put on an iron supplement due to my hemoglobin count being low, but otherwise she was happy with what she was seeing. I lost 2 lbs, but she just assumed it was water weight and wasn't concerned about it.
I was so excited when she said sh wanted to do an ultrasound in a couple weeks to see size of baby and how much fluid she has. She said although she knows she's head way down, she wants to see what angle she's at. I have a posterior placenta so she's having a tough time feeling the rest of her (YAY for seeing her before she arrives, fingers crossed for lots of hair! haha!!)

So happy to hear about the good appointments!!!! We’re in the final stretch ladies!!
@Mrs.B: I’ve definitely outgrown some of the maternity clothes…some in the chest area and some in the belly! I will not buy more though. I decided that once I’m on leave I will only be wearing leggings and long tank tops with sweaters. I already have those items so I just need to make it through 3 more work weeks! I’m just trying to manage with what I have…even if it means wearing yoga pants (nice ones!) as dress pants lol.

Glad everyone is doing well!
I have my baby shower tomorrow! So excited. I know a couple of you are having showers tomorrow too. I've been registry stalking like crazy. Only like 5 things have been bought off of it. So either everyone is very last minute with gift buying or they're just buying me whatever. Guess I'll find out tomorrow!
Amazon registry was a bust. I had a feeling no one would buy off of that. I should have done Target instead of Amazon. At least I have all my fav baby items saved somewhere. And I got an email from Amazon that they're doing a mom appreciation sale starting 9/17 w/ a promo code for 20% off certain baby stuff. Sign up for Amazon mom to get a promo code as well!

nectarine / 2834 posts
@mrskc: Happy shower weekend to us!!! I stopped registry stalking...I was stressing out. I've just focused on getting pampered. Took an extra long lunch today and got a mani/pedi. I have a prenatal massage tonight after work as well...can't wait for that!

@mrskc: Yay so exciting! I am having the same issue--shower tomorrow and only a few items have been bought. Oh well, I'm fine with gift cards too if that's what people end up giving! @Tidybee: have fun tomorrow as well!
honeydew / 7235 posts
@mrskc: @hilsy85: yay! Have fun ladies! We got a lot of "off-registry" items - but I actually loved almost all of them! There was maybe only 1 thing that was questionable...
my fave thing was my sister in law got me a Kate Spade Diaper Bag! LOOOOOVE, and had no idea it was coming
squash / 13764 posts
@hellobeeboston: ooh! nice!!!! I saw the kate spade bags at buy buy baby last weekend and may have fallen in love with one! I can't bring myself to buy it though, since we have a perfectly serviceable other diaper bag that we were gifted. Maybe for my birthday

@mrskc: @Tidybee: @hilsy85: Have awesome shower's ladies
As DD is approaching I am really considering talking to my OB about inducing at 39 weeks. I've been stressing about going into spontanious labor. I'm SO worried that for some reason we won't be able to get ahold of the relatives that are supposed to care for our other 3 kids. Just the thought of them not answering for some reason is stressing me out! I really want a med free birth but I think the predicitibility of induction may be best.

Happy shower weekend to you ladies that are having showers, SO exciting!!!
Is anyone else not having showers until after baby (like me!), or am I on my own?!
I am attending a wedding shower Sunday for a friend who is getting married in October, baby due in January! I am excited to see her and how her bump is growing -they found out they will be having a boy!
Only because I did some work today....here are a couple nursery pics! Did the crayon L, O, V, E this afternoon!
Bedding option #1 Pink fitted with pattern skirt
Bedding option #2 Pattern fitted, gray skirt
L O V E above the crib!

I was going to post a pic of the wall unit/closer conversion, but in pics it looks messy, so I am going to tweak and work it a little more!
I bought prefolds today to round out my cloth stash! The girl I bought from is a cousin of a good couple friend of ours so I thought going used was ok in this, and I know it sounds silly, but now I just have to do one wash of them, not a whole whack of prep washing/drying. I thought I was buying 30 prefolds for $25, I got there and she only took $20, got home and thought "that looks like more that 30" counted and there were 61! Unreal, I am a little beyond set.
Glad the wknd is here. DH made it through his first week back to work (teacher!) and we're ordering pizza from our favourite place tonight, getting caught up on big brother and relaxing!!
Happy weekend!

@Beebug: Wow!! You got QUITE the deal!
@hilsy85: @Tidybee: Happy baby showers to you ladies too Soak up ever moment!
We’re headed out of town for the weekend after work! An ocean view room in Carmel is calling our name! I can’t wait to escape the heat!

@Beebug: I have a few friends who didn't do showers until after the baby! I like the idea but my mom really wanted to do a shower for me before baby. Love your crib!
Have fun at your showers ladies!
I am in our EIGHT hour childbirth class today - yikes, gonna be a loooong day!
@Running Elley: Enjoy your getaway!

It would be a GREAT day for an 8-hour childbirth class today here. Wind and sideways rain, definitely an inside day.

@Hilsy85 & @TidyBee - happy shower day!!!
@BeeBug - we have the exact same crib!!! I love it!!!
I went to Target today and dropped about $250 on nursing bras, tanks, 3 pairs of black yoga pants, and stuff to take care of me after baby arrives (pads, witch hazel, handheld fan, dermoplast, spray bottle, stool softener, Epsom salt, hard candy, gum, Chapstick). I'm hoping this will cover everything, now I need to pack our bags!
My friend at work that was due on 9/25 had her baby yesterday, so now I'm feeling the pressure to get it all done ASAP... I hit 36 weeks today!!!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@CarrieLouWho: Yay same crib! We didn't even shop around, local news showcased consumer reports and it was ranked #1 for safety....so we picked based on that!
I am seriously going to start the BRAT diet my doctor told me about, I have had enough of being sick....I might start tomorrow, ugh...the worst thing about this is that I have an appetite, just nothing stays in (sorry, tmi) so going so bland will be next closest thing to torture.
We thought about two more names this weekend (so hopeless with this naming baby business!) Danielle, or Mallory!
Still not even going to bother committing until she is here however.
Hope everyone's weekends have been good so far! I am going to fire up the crock pot to cook dinner all day, and then do some baking! Attending a wedding shower mid-day too! I think I am going to go get some of the recruits from this year (I work at a local university, DH coaches hockey there, and the recruits/rookies have been in a week now) and bring them over this afternoon. Get some baked goods into them, let them play with our dog, and make sure no one gets homesick!
persimmon / 1408 posts
@BeeBug, that's the same reason we picked the crib!
I love Mallory! It's the name my good friend picked... It's different but not really, and not crazy common.
squash / 13764 posts
@Beebug: Aw sorry you're still sick, hope you're feeling better soon!
@CarrieLouWho: Eeek can't believe you're so close to your due date!! 36 weeks sounds SO much further along than my (almost)
34 weeks!
Hope everyone else is doing well! My shower yesterday was really nice, and our registries are almost complete! Now I have a ton of baby laundry to do
honeydew / 7235 posts
@hilsy85: glad the shower went well!! I LOVED doing those first rounds of baby laundry!! It all smells so good from the Dreft and I got these natural baby safe dryer sheets - and looks so adorable folded in the drawers....

Random q - anyone having jaw pain??
I think this is related to our softening joints but I wake up and my jaw on the left side hurts and my whole bite is off - takes a while to bite down without pain. It's not tmj as I have turned into a mouth breather this pregnancy. It's weird! Wondering if I should call my dentist.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
The baby smell in the nursery is AWESOME! I love walking in there and smelling baby, so cool!
DH shot down Mallory name yesterday, we both liked it (me, more than DH) but then with our last name....no way....!
I way over did it yesterday, I went on a baking spree yesterday afternoon and while it was definitely worth it, I was so tired! I did a full roast beef dinner (crockpot for the roast, so cheated, a little!) for 6 last night, so yah.....I need to have a quiet day today.
@hellobeeboston: No jaw pain, but lots of pain elsewhere

@Mrs.B: Did you decide what you're going to do? Can you find a backup care giver for your LO's if you can't get a hold of the main one? I'm no expert on labor or anything, but it usually starts slow, right? So even when you go into labor, it's not very likely you'll need to be at the hospital right away.
@Beebug: Love your crib. I like both sheet & skirt combos!
@CarrieLouWho: You are getting so close! I really need to make a shopping trip for nursery & postpartum supplies.
@hilsy85: Glad your shower went well.

I had my shower on Saturday. It was lots of fun and almost everyone my mom invited came. I felt so loved. Not a ton was bought off our registry, so there are a lot of items I still need to purchase. Luckily we received some gift cards and cash, so that will help. Almost everything we received will come in handy though. Just a couple of things I think I'll return. Everyone was asked to bring a children's book instead of a card, so this baby is set for books! Hope you all had a nice weekend!

@mrskc: Still not sure what our plan is. MIL is the only close family besides my father but he will be in FL and then Washington D.C. for most of October. I'm just freaked out after talking to my daycare girl's Mom. Her water broke at 38 weeks and she only labored for an hour then out she came. They almost didn't make it to the hospital. So that really puts me in panic mode. My Mother also had crazy quick births so I'm just really nervous. With DS I was induced so I have no idea how fast my labor might be. I'm going to talk to my OB at my next apt on 9/21.
persimmon / 1408 posts
@Hilsy85 & @MrsKC - glad your showers went well!
@JessieJ017 - Any time!!! I'm hoping I hit everything!
@HelloBeeBoston - no jaw pain here
I agree with everyone... I love the smell of freshly laundered baby clothes! It makes it feel like we're getting so close!!!
I had my 36 week appointment this morning (WE GO EVERY WEEK NOW!!! YAY!!!). All is good! Delaney is head down, guesstimate on weight is ~6 lbs, only 1/2 a centimeter dialated and 30% effaced. Talked about how long past the due date we'll go and my OB said no more than a week... so I asked if I could pick the date after that and she said yes :o) So... if we don't have a baby by 10/6, we are going to set the induction for 10/11 (so I can have my 10/11/12 baby- haha). I'm convincing myself I'll be late so that I don't get too upset if 10/6 comes and goes w/ no baby girl! I'm also hoping we can avoid induction if possible, but what will be will be.
PS - the internal exam... I'd heard it was bad, so I was prepared... it's was very uncomfortable and I'm still feeling really sore. But, I'm guessing I need to get used to pain and not being comfortable :o)
clementine / 961 posts
@CarrieLouWho: Every week eeek that is so exciting! I'm hoping my OB does an internal exam at my next apt. Even if it is uncomfortable I really want to know my progress

Hi ladies!
Reporting from bed, I was at the hospital for a few hours this morning, sickness hit an all time awfulness.
Hooked up belly so we could make sure baby was ok, heart rate high for her (lowest 138, highest 177 bpm) but they were pleased with her, and really not sure what is up with me. They called my doc, I have to give a stool sample, and then we will hopefully figure out what is wrong with me. Because they didn't know what is wrong with me, they put me in a private room, and let me tell you, the snot in me is definitely asking for a private room! My work benefits top us up from 4 to a room (normal what our provincial health care norm is), to a semi-private, but we will definitely pay the difference to get into a private. I'm grouchy enough as is right now, let alone in labour to share space!
We had our first birthing class last night (at the hospital, Ive been there lots in the last day!) and I had the soonest due date, everyone else was due Oct 26 into the end of November! I was a little discouraged with a smaller belly than at least half of the women, I know I have been measuring behind, but it sorts sucked to really see it in a room of 10 preggos and their partners! I think DH liked class more than I did, man I love him! I started feeling ill on the way home, just neeeeeed to get home desperately and was sick until 3am or so, got some sleep until DH got up for hockey around 5am, and then he left, and I went to the hospital. I just napped for a bit, making sure I keep hydrated and just hoping to goodness I can feel somewhat better, sometime soon!
Hope everyone is doing better than me
squash / 13764 posts
@Beebug: Hope you're feeling better mama! And I totally agree with you on the private room--there's no way for us to reserve one in advance, but I REALLY want one.
@mrskc: Glad you had fund at your shower! my hosts also had people bring books instead of a card--isn't it the best idea? We are anxiously awaiting our bookshelf now so we have somewhere to put this growing library
@CarrieLouWho: wow!! SO crazy that you're getting dilation/effacement info already!!! And a 10/11/12 birthday would be very cool indeed (and easy to remember!). @hellobeeboston: no jaw pain here, hope yours is getting better!
I'm 34 weeks today, woo hoo! I had my 34 wk appt yesterday and baby looked great--my doc said "He's an active one!", which he is, lol. I also scheduled the rest of my visits while I was there--only 5 more to go (hopefully). I also got my flu shot, fun stuff.
honeydew / 7235 posts
@CarrieLouWho: Wow - that is super exciting that you're already dilating!! Maybe you'll be good to go 10/6 - that's still a ways away! Thanks for the heads up about the internal - my doc said she's going to start doing them for me at my next appt which is 2 weeks away at 36 weeks, then I'll also be going every week.
@mrskc: @hilsy85: i LOVE the book instead of card idea!! Never heard about that but if I ever throw a shower for someone I'm definitely doing that. at my shower there was a game & everyone brought diapers so now we are SET, at least for a few weeks!
@Beebug: I'm so sorry you've been feeling crappy! Hopefully they can figure out what's going on while you're in the hospital! Glad the babe is doing well though!

@Beebug: feel better! Sorry about your hospital visit:/
35&4 today. Next Tuesday I'll get a cervical check and know if I'm at all dilated. I've been walking 60min a day and he is sitting low and head down so, I am expecting a little something:)

@Beebug: Really hope you start feeling better soon.
@CarrieLouWho: Wow! Seems like you are getting so close. It still feels far away for me. I'm almost 34 weeks. A 10/11/12 bday would be so neat.

@CarrieLouWho: YAY!! And I don't know if I knew you decided on a name, Delaney is beautiful, it was on our short list too!! LOVE it!
I have my 34 week appointment today too, later this afternoon. I keep catching myself rounding up saying I have 3 weeks to go instead of 4...I need to cut that out. I"m not excited about the exam, but excited to see if anything is happening.
I have been feeling awful since Saturday, BP is up and keeps spiking causing me to get dizzy, light headed, and blurry vision. I think bed rest is in my near future. Hopefully I can convince her to induce a little early if the U/S shows baby is full grown! I don't want to miss out on precious time with my baby due to bed rest (it will cut into my maternity leave.) So fingers crossed ladies for good news!!!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
I just ate the most delicious bowl of plain white rice (trying to make this food sound exciting!) honestly I love rice, we don't eat it that often, so hopefully it's not too bad this time a week from now!
Thanks for the well wishes, if I could feel 5% better, that would be so, so awesome....just some improvement would be nice.
Got the stool sample to the lab, I have had to submit a stool sample to the vet from my dog before, but why is it that doing it for yourself is 10x worse...? Gross!
I am reading the booklet from birthing class and the notes DH took, so awesome!
What to Expect is out on DVD today and I may bug DH to get it for me on his way home. I seriously loved the movie and figure if I am this down and out, that movie watching definitely isn't a bad thing!

@hilsy85: @mrskc: Glad you had great showers!! Our guests also brought a book instead of a card, and we just put them all into the shelves last night. We spent a lot of time starting to organize the baby's room last night. It's like it all became very real overnight!
I can't believe we are talking dilation checks, appointments every week, and and some October babies are going to be coming in just a couple of weeks!
@Beebug: @jessiejo17: Sorry you're feeling so crummy! I hope you feel better soon!

I'm jealous of all the ladies who got books instead of cards! I love, love, love children's books and I am stocking up every time I see some on sale. The only ones I am willing to buy that aren't on sale are Dr. Seuss books. I love them too much to wait for them to go on sale so I bought an 8-pack set from Barnes and Noble the other day.
35w5d here. I hope to God this baby comes a few days early. I know if I make it to my EDD I will be on major edge. I already have a hunch my EDD is off because he has been running on the larger side all throughout the pregnancy so, here's for hope'n!
honeydew / 7235 posts
@jessiejo17: fingers are crossed for you! I catch myself doing the same thing you're doing also - i keep rounding down the # of weeks I have left - Bad! It's just going to make the end seem longer I think! only 4 weeks left at work though!! SOOO excited.
@TurtleDoves: only about 4 weeks until baby for you! that is great! it will be so interesting to see when everyone starts delivering!
our glider FINALLY arrived! I'm so excited to get it... After we put that in we just need to hang things & we're done with the nursery! I'll share a pic later.... I have been feeling SUPER uncomfortable the last 2 days. Ugh. hopefully it passes quickly, but all-of-a-sudden back pain + weird jaw pain + baby never stops moving + just feeling really large & round is tough!
