@kjpugs: that's awesome! Well done mama! Keep us posted on the hospital grade pump. I hat the Ameda purely yours as well and am considering switching pumps when my work hours pick up.

@daniellemybelle: I've never heard that about Benadryl and can't believe the hospital gave it to you. What the heck?!?

Is it terrible that I think the day started out well because DS peed through his Jammie's and sleep sack onto my husband who was dressed for work and about to leave? It was hilarious! And in loll fairness, Hubs forgot to make sure DS' penis was pointing down. Ha!

Well I went from happy to horrible in a few hours. My Ameda Purely Crap pump broke (the cord got kinked... that's the only thing I can find that is amiss) and still no approval on the hospital grade. 7 hours and counting since I last pumped. No idea how long til I can get a replacement cord or my hospital grade pump. Wonder how long until I lose my very delicate little supply for good

@kjpugs: oh no Could you get a cheap hand pump just to keep some stimulation going every few hours? I did that when my Ameda wasn't working out & before I rented my Medela, and while it's not fun, it gets the job done in a pinch.

@kjpugs: could you hand express? There are YouTube videos and some ladies get a lot from just doing that.

And... we are back to eating every 1.5 hours. Holy cow kid! Where are you putting all this food? And could you please give mom a break to take a nap, even a short one?
kiwi / 726 posts
@TFrances: we were there for the last three days as well. We are finally getting back to normal (I think) today.

@kjpugs: I have an extra cord, I could overnight it to you tomorrow if you want. It wouldn't get there until Saturday, but it's yours if you want it. Just let me know.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@TFrances: we were struggling with the same. I uped him to 4 oz and he's almost made it 3 hours. FX that works!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. After 2 hours of crying on the phone with Cigna, they said it would still be 5 MORE business days. Even though I had my doc send in everything Friday. I went and rented it from the place that will eventually provide it. $115 but worth it. Just pumped 95 ml - where usually my top was 45 ml a session. Hope this trend continues!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: would you believe I guess it un-kinked because all of a sudden B was like WHOA your pump just started??? YEP... working again. After I spent $115. Worth it though.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: Woohoo! I hope your insurance company will reimburse you for the $115 for the rental.

I'm so proud of my boobs! I pumped tonight while feeding Hyla and got 5 oz! I ate a lactation cookie this morning, maybe that's what did it? My milk seems to be highest at night and my right boob was engorged.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: that's amazing! Is it bizarre to say I am jealous? Alex has still been nursing a ton and my boobs really don't get engorged anymore except at night. I n fact after his morning power hour(s) they are stay pretty squishy for the day. Amazing how our body's regulate everything. I may need to get one of those lactation cookies.
@kjpugs: fantastic news! I am also starting to think about a hospital grade pump. I think I may have mentioned that earlier today but can't remember. My Ameda really isn't working well for me.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: This cookie was so good! And HUGE. The package said eating 1-2 per day boosts most people's supply. I'll see if I can find the cookie brand. And now I'm scared to open my new Ameda since so many of you are hating it! The one I have been using is a couple of years old and I can only pump one side at a time since it's missing a cap.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@evansjamie: I would love to know the brand of cookies! I'm desperate to increase my supply.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@daniellemybelle: http://www.milkmakers.com. Milkmakers is the brand.

The kid ate 4 ounces and then 1.5 hours later, another 3 ounces. Holy crap! I hope this means he will sleep longer than 2 hours now.

@daniellemybelle: when we were going to EP my cousin bought them for me. She swears by them!

We are at my parents for our last night. My mother is amazing. I went to bed at 9, got up made his 10:30 bottle to have her snatch him up and she just did the same for his 1:15. I don't know the last time I got to sleep like that.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
I can't believe my new good nights rest consists of only 4.5 hours. Geez!
grapefruit / 4079 posts
Well good thing I've slept because M has been up every hour since to eat 1-1.5 ounces. Come on kid! Do the world a favor and drink 3!

@daniellemybelle: my sister got these for me and they are so yummy!!!

@evansjamie: any excuse to eat a cookie and I am in. I found a couple of recipes online. The key ingredients seem to be fenugreek, anise and flax. As an added bonus many of the cookies are really high in fiber.

Lucy ate for almost 30 minutes this morning after she woke up. I knew it was a bad idea, and sure enough, she spit most of it back up a little later. All over her jammies, her face, her hair, and my arm. Poor punkin is passed out on my chest right now.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@abbylyn: Hyla did that this morning after her shot. I'm going to have to introduce a paci or something. At least she was still undressed.
Real quick since I'm on my phone. Hyla's 1 month stats are: 10 lbs, 11.5 ounces (85%), 21 3/8" tall (59%), and head circumference is 14.5". She's definitely mommy's little chunky monkey! Poor girl got her second HepB and I felt so bad for the poor thing.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: love chunky monkeys! Pics want to see a pic!
Alex also had his 1 month appt today. He's a string bean with a big head! 9 lb 12 oz. (50th or so percentile, but a 2 lb increase since he was born), 22.75 inches (90-95th percentile) and head circumference of 15.5 inches (95th percentile). I'm just thrilled to know that he's getting enough breastmilk!

@evansjamie: Lucy has the same onesie! Currently too big for her though. She's finally actually fitting into newborn stuff though instead of swimming in it.
Current dilemma: she's sleeping peacefully, but I heard her poop. Do I change her and wake her up, or let her sleep and stew in it?
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: so cute! Love the pic with your pooch? How is he/she adjusting to Hyla?

OMG how are our babies turning 1 month? (CRY CRY CRY)
It has been an AMAZING day compared to yesterday!!!!! E wouldn't go to sleep (her bedtime routine was off since DH was off work for the first time in FOREVER and we didn't get to do our usual routine) around 11:30 like usual in her PNP. She would sleep on me, etc, but not in her PNP. So DH kept her out in the living room with him and she slept- then he brought her in around 1 or 1:30 when he went to bed. She slept til 4:45 (which was my hour being up- feed, change, and pump) and then went back down til 7:45 and went down without issue... then slept til I woke her up at just after TEN!!!!! Like DH's alarm woke us up!!!!! She thanked me by peeing on me while I changed her.
We also found an awesome nanny yesterday, and after hearing from her references today, we hired her!!! We're REALLY excited about it. We had to choose between a younger candidate and the one we hired, who is in her 50's. Her kids are grown, she's volunteering at a day care now. She was the only one who asked to hold E and was really great with her. I like that she has kids so she's DEFINITELY had newborn experience. We both felt so great about her. She sounded really excited too- and she lives in our neighborhood!
AND... Cigna approved my pump today so FL home health REFUNDED MY $115 THAT I PAID YESTERDAY!!!!!!! I could cry. It's approved for 3 months and then after 3 months I can request another 3 months, etc. Thrilled! The only issue is my output (since being awesome that first pump) seems to be similar to how it was before. Maybe it will improve with time? I have to look into fenugreek and those cookies.
I posted this on another thread, but I think E's fussiness is relux. She seems to be better when not reclined. I am going to ask my ped about it. I thought they said they would see us at 2 months so maybe I'll just try to do a 1 month appointment instead? I want her to continue in her PNP, maybe I can get one of those incline wedges?

@evansjamie: OMG HYLAAA! I can't believe she's 1 month. She's adorable and I love the pup in the photo!!!

@Evansjamie: Hyla is super adorable! And she's so tiny! Makes me feel like Arthur is just a huge beast (albeit a cute one). I'll have to post his one month photos in a week.

On my phone, so I'll post responses to everyone later tonight.
Look who is 1 month old today!!!

@ladybee: UHG sorry lady, Jack is eating every hour too, about an ounce. He's not sleeping between them though. This is one of my lowest days so far. He's been awake since 3:30. I've been crying since about 730. Blah.
watermelon / 14467 posts
We've been traveling all day, so I'll try to hit everyone.
@abbylyn: I love this onesie! We have it in 6-9 month size also. Hyla's 0-3 month stuff is too long because she's a shortie, but it fits decently in the torso because she's chunky there.
@Sadieloo: Bea LOVES Hyla. She licked her in the face as soon as we brought her home. She follows us from room to room when we have her.
@kjpugs: @TFrances: Aww thanks ladies! Bea loves her to bits. To get this shot, my husband was scratching her belly just outside of the frame. She knows when I put the quilt down that Hyla will be on the floor and she lays down on it.
@Jennimac: Happy 1-month birthday MM!
@kjpugs: I hope the cookies work for you! They are so good, I'm going to have to pick some up this week and maybe get some recipes for when I go back to work.
@MrsTiz: Hugs Mama. I hope tomorrow is easier. We just had three days of Hyla fighting sleep and naps and it was BRUTAL. Not to mention my nips felt like they were going to fall off.
