Ugh. Has anyone else have the symptoms disappear for the end of the first trimester (even though mine have been very mild, if not non-exsistent) and then have a total resurgence, if not worse during the early stages of your second trimester?

@ChefAimee: YES!! EXACTLY THAT! This past weekend through a day or so ago were a million times worse, my nausea just laughed at my Zofran!!!!!

Just told my boss (since I'm 12 weeks on Monday and it's terribly busy on Mondays, then I'm out Wed-Fri next week) and it was awkward. Mostly because our team all works from home across the state, he was my NEW boss as of 1/1 when they made changes, and I've met him twice. WOMP. Just so weird.

@KJfromNJ: I'm sorry it was weird! Telling work is so nerve-wracking. There are still people I work with who don't know, and that's just fine with me.

@KJfromNJ: Bah, that sucks - sorry! I will have to tell a lot of people on my team, including my clients, and I know it is going to be hella awkward at some points. It doesn't help that I'm fairly young and people will wonder if it was an accident (...and it was!) But I know one of my (female) clients strongly suspects based on how I have been acting so hopefully that will make it easier?

@knockedup_nowwhat: I think telling a DUDE is weirder than a female! I think that's a huge part of it!!!

Did anyone get an accidental gender reveal at their 12 week ultrasound? I was in for my ultrasound yesterday, with no expectations other than seeing the baby and I left with a very confident prediction of the gender (and a take home ultrasound pick to "prove" it.)
I let my husband know and shared the insinuation with his parents but I won't feel confident until we get confirmation. We are going to Chicago in a few weeks to see my husbands family and we are thinking it would be fun to let his parents join us for an ultrasound while we are there so we can all find out for sure.
Any thoughts? Should I take the ultrasound techs expereince along with my eyes and feel confident? Or stay neutral? Ahh! This was not what I was expecting! We had a plan for a reveal but this baby wanted to make the announcement!
    Cheers!

@Protectlove: Oh wow! My last ultrasound was at 10 weeks, and it was really quick as I was in the ER. I won't have another one until 20 weeks unless I do an elective one. I personally would stay neutral since it's early, but I'm sure whatever you choose will be so exciting!

@Protectlove: is that a boy part that I see? If that's what I think it is, that's pretty clear? But I would probably still keep it kind of quiet. I think it might be fun to share with IMMEDIATE family type people, but still have them come with you to confirm. What a fun idea!! I have heard of that too, they can tell that early (it's all there) and I know someone who found out at 13 weeks, but it just usually isn't clear enough until they're bigger. So congrats on the first "peek!!!"

@Protectlove: oh and with my BFF hers was really clear and they tried to get a good view, but baby's legs were crossed.

Big thanks to the Orange County health department... Little late though. (It came in the mail!)

@evansjamie: Yeah- I got some great images from it- beside the money shot! It was the nuchal translucency screening ultrasound and I am scheduled for an ultrasound in another 6 weeks. You said in the ER- was everything ok? I sure hope so!

  13. Protectlove

    cherry / 124 posts

@KJfromNJ: Thanks dear! It is a fun peek! We are definitely not sharing with anyone with 100% confidence- the few people we have told we made it very clear that this is just an early guess. I have definetly heard enough stories about people finding out this early to know its possible but I guess I just want a little more certainty. I won't lie, part of me feels like its too good to be true.
    But thank you thank you!

@Protectlove: oh yes, everything is fine. An overreacting ICC doctor sent me to the ER after she bad mouthed my midwife for not doing an early ultrasound. My practice does one at 20 weeks, that's it.

@Protectlove: Wow thats awesome that they could get that image so early

I told my office yesterday... I was going to do it today but my boss ended up taking the day off. Luckily i work with mostly women so it was terribly awkward i've worked there since i was 20 so almost 9 years everyone was very happy and excited and gave me lots of hugs. It went a good as i could have hoped. I finally get to relax a bit now that everyone knows.

  16. Protectlove

    cherry / 124 posts

@evansjamie: Oh good! Drs. always seem to be concerned with what the midwife is doing or not doing. It seems like their subtle way of making you question your choice.
I had a whole lot of that with my daughter- the Drs. were outright against my plan of a home birth but everything went amazing so this time around I am hoping they keep the opinions to themselves.

@Chillybear: I'm glad you had a good experience!

@Protectlove: Yes, that doctor's attitude made me so glad that I'm going with a CNM. I would like to have a home birth, but my husband isn't on board with the idea, so I'm having a hospital birth at a natural-friendly hospital.

It sounds like we were all in the same mindset, I just told my boss on Wednesday because I was out sick again. I agree with @KJfromNJ, the Zofran doesn't seem to be cutting it lately. My boss was super excited, it's definitely a weight off the shoulders for her to know.

I just noticed today after poking at my stomach, I can definitely feel something hard there where usually its soft and squishy. It was nice to find another confirmation that something is happening.

I was weak and told my boss at 6 weeks. I approached it as "if I mc again I will need your support so I wanted to let you know..." My principal knew we were doing fertility meds and whatnot so she was very happy for us.

Oh, on another note, when I got out of the shower this morning I noticed a dark line running from my belly button to the land down under. Is that supposed to happen this early?! Anyone else have it? I can't wait for summer so I can get some color

My boss knew the day after we found out. She has been praying for us since we lost our daughter. I knew if anything happened, they would need to know ASAP in case I had to go to the hospital and stuff.

@Jennimac: I wonder if being a teacher and having a personal and professional relationship with our principals (and the previous losses) made it easier to tell earlier?

  24. singingbee

@ladybee: I think so. I know our whole school has been praying for us.

@Jennimac: What time is your appointment on Monday. Ours is 1:10 (EST). I called and asked if there would be an ultrasound since it is our first appointment with my OB at 10 weeks. The lady who answered the phone was so rude. She said, "No, its way to early to see or hear a heartbeat. He will give you information and send you on your way." Oh hell no, it's not too early as I'VE ALREADY SEEN and HEARD IT! And my OBGYN has always said we will sneak a peak at that baby any chance we get to reassure you. As soon as I got off the phone I cried, yup, pregnancy hormones at work.

@ladybee: I'm sorry that receptionist was so rude! Our appointment Is at 8:50 am central time. DH has to work, so my BFF is coming with me.

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@ladybee: @jennimac: Good luck with your upcoming appointments! Both my 11w and my 15w appointment all I got was a quick doppler listen of the heartbeat. We don't get our anatomy scan until 20 weeks, so I have 5 weeks to wait to finally see our baby under ultrasound again. OBs definitely don't use ultrasounds like REs do.

  28. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@marionberry: thanks! I got an ultrasound at every appointment last time, so I'm pretty sure he will do another one. Now, I never heard the heartbeat last time, so I'm going to ask him if/when he plans to do that. I know my doctor doesn't do my care typically like he does others because of our history and the fact that we are long time family friends. I'm excited about our appointment though. If it goes well, I'm telling my students on Monday.

Got this dress (and maternity leggings and a belt) at Old navy with my $15 off $50 coupon! VERY happy that when I showed DH he LOVED IT! He usually hates maxi dresses. I am so in love with maternity clothes! Wish my belly was bigger so I could wear more of them!

Meant to ask- anyone else having sciatic nerve pain? Mine is better today but the past few days its been BAD!!! I thought that all came around later! Darn!

  34. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@KJfromNJ: oh my gosh, yes. It's not constant though, and it goes away when I get adjusted. I am definitely keeping up with the chiropractor through this pregnancy. The side sleeping is really messing with my back.

  35. kjpugs

@evansjamie: that's good to know, I maybe should look into if my insurance covers chiropractic.

@Protectlove: That's so exciting that you could find out earlier than expected!

@KJfromNJ: I've had tailbone/hip pain. Is that in the same place that you've been having pain? I finally had to go to the chiro which only seemed to help for a few days.

  37. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@Mrs. Monkey: yep that's the sciatic nerve. I had a HORRIBLE issue with bursitis a year and a half ago and it's a little like the early pain (before I was unable to walk and went to the ER) but this is more spread a bit- i believe the nerve goes down your back and then splits and down your legs? My pain is low lower back and my hip area on the right, so I rub my butt whenever I get up LOL

  38. Mrs. Monkey

    cherry / 193 posts

@KJfromNJ: Good to know that's what it is. My pain is also improved by rubbing my butt!

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@Mrs. Monkey: yep, apparently the ONLY time it's not due to a spinal issue (discs, etc) is a tumor or pregnancy! YAYYYY.
