Hi Ladies,
Has anyone else started feeling HUGE yet? Not necessarily showing huge, but more like I've-eaten-at-all-you-can-eat-buffets-for-the-last-three-weeks-and-have-managed-to-put-on-ten-pounds-all-in-my-gutt, huge?
I have always struggled with my weight, so this weight gain that I can't necessarily control (or hide) is very difficult for me to deal with. I've been trying to reason with myself that I'm pregnant, this is normal and natural, and I will lose it again once the baby is born, but it's hard. Ridiculously hard. That, and as hard as I try to reason with myself that I NEED to eat healthy ALL of the time, a lot of times I slip. It's like I have a devil and angel on my shoulder and a hungry little boy telling me to feed him on the inside. And for the first time in the history of my life, I am supposed to be gaining weight, not losing (which sometimes I feel gives me a free pass to eat whatever I want).
Hard, hard, hard I say.

@Chefaimee: Yes, I agree with trying to eat healthy but most of the time it doesn't win out (especially when I'm still puking up the healthy stuff). I'm just starting to see the weight creep up and its messing with my head. For so long I've always tried to lose and now knowing I need to gain is just hard to change that mind set.

Ohh, also we had our anatomy scan ultrasound yesterday!! Everything looks good and all the testing came back negative. I'll try to crop the photo so I can share it with you all. Baby was jumping around, probably in part to the huge coke I had earlier. We are sticking with Team Green so we didn't find out gender but honestly I couldn't tell what we were looking at anyway. I thought arms were legs and so on.

@ChefAimee: I am SO with you today. I'm wearing maternity jeans (full panel) with a regular shirt, and I just look like I have a huge gut. I am already heavy and have also always struggled with my weight, so it's really hard. I was looking at photography packages yesterday, and thinking that I don't even want any newborn family pictures because I don't want to be documented at how huge I know I will be by the time this baby is fully cooked & out.
@Redmini1: Yay! That's so exciting! I wish I could just blink and be at our anatomy scan - it has to be so reassuring!

@chefaimee: I couldn't agree more. I feel huge. I haven't weighed myself in two weeks and I'm terrified to get on the scale. And I feel so guilty about it because I'm so thrilled to be pregnant and am also terrified that I'll miscarry. I'd really like just not to worry...about anything. So just know that I'm with you.
@redmini1`: Cheers to your anatomy scan!

@ChefAimee: @daniellemybelle: Ladies, I am right there with you. It doesn't help that a particular coworker has been commenting on it! Yesterday I nearly cried because so many of my work clothes don't fit. As for healthy eating, I've been trying to make sure I get a healthy lunch (salad, yogurt, fruit) and breakfast (cereal) to make up for the crappy food I eat at dinner because Woog is starving. It is so hard emotionally to gain when the world is telling you thin is in. * hugs to all *
@Redmini1: AHHHHH yay! I cannot WAIT until my anatomy scan! The days are dragging.

Oy vey I am already huge. Only 16 weeks tomorrow but I look like I'm already 20-something. Second pregnancies are no joke.

@Mrs. Yoyo: Your bump is SO CUTE! I'm seriously jealous. I wish mine was so round and high. I still have a "B belly" beer gut.
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
@daniellemybelle: You'll get there ... mine was definitely B belly/beer gut just a few weeks ago. And at this rate, I'm anticipating getting harassed about when I'm due for the entire third tri.

@Mrs. Yoyo: I'm a week ahead of you though! I guess it must be the second pregnancy thing. But yeah, the "you're about to pop!" comments probably won't be that fun... ah, we pregnant ladies can never win!
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
@daniellemybelle: Totally a second pregnancy thing. Like I said, I definitely wasn't this big until at least 20 weeks last time. Just goes to show you that what little I had in the way of abdominal muscles were completely obliterated the first time around!

@Mrs. Yoyo: YES. I feel HUGE this time around, and I know it's a second pregnancy thing, but damn, with the last one, I could hide it till a little past 20 weeks if I wanted to, and this time people were starting to notice at 14, 15 weeks!

@Mrs. Yoyo: you look AMAZINGGGG! So jealous of your cute round bump. I'm like @daniellemybelle with the B belly too.
We found out our baby's gender on Friday!!! We decided to keep it a secret though until our showers in July so we could share with family/friends in person. I can't wait to reconfirm it 5/28 at our next ultrasound too!

@kjpugs: I can't believe you are going to keep it a secret for that long! Oh the suspense!!!!!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: what!!! I can't wait until you reveal! I don't know if I could keep the secret that long!
I'm at a derby party right now and I can't believe that next year my kid will be cruising around at the same party I attended as a kid! Crazypants!

Y'all I just had my first pregnant brain fail moment. I have to sing at a wedding tonight and I was sure I was scheduled to sing at 4:30 mass before it. So, I get ready, leave my house at 3:30, get to church at 4:00, only to realize that I'm not sig at 4:30 mass. I'm not supposed to be there until 5:45. I feel like such an idiot. I had a little cry and went to staples. Office supply stores make me feel better. Now I'm going to get some dinner and them had back to church.

@Jennimac: Don't worry. Lost DH's keys at the park the other day. Very expensive preg-brain fail after we replaced them. I cried, lots. Ugh.

@Lozza: yup, noooo hiding it now!
@kjpugs: thanks, and ahhhhh! to finding out sex of your baby!

@Mrs. Yoyo: @Jennimac: not preg brain but I just had my first bladder leak. My bladder was moving faster than my legs. Yayyy peeing your pants.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
Oh- meant to add I found out I have an anterior placenta. Anyone else?

@kjpugs: I pee when I throw up. Which is still happening, unfortunately.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@ladybee: wheeee, I guess we're just special! My tech said that staying hydrated can really help with it with U/S pictures in the future. Maybe that's why I just peed myself.
@Mrs. Yoyo: I guess preggo brain got in the way and I BOUGHT SINGLE PLY TP. So I'm not puking (so sorry that you are!) but I'm a frequent visitor with the peeing and IBS pain (that I think is a Zofran side effect) and I'm like SINGLE PLY? What was I thinking!?!?!?! DH asked me to just buy more... we have like 18 rolls left haha. I guess it'll be backup stock forever.

@kjpugs: Ahhh, I can't wait to hear about your exciting shower reveal! How fun!!!
So I think I have officially entered the stage where the kid pushes on your bladder, because I have to pee all. the. time!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@daniellemybelle: Oh man, me too. My bladder feels like it's bruised and I have to pee all the time, especially at night. I know I don't have a UTI, so I'm assuming that little feet and hands are kicking and punching away down there.
coffee bean / 47 posts
I agree ladies, I also have to pee every five minutes! I did a 12k yesterday, which just about killed my bladder. Thank god for porta-potties every ten feet or I wouldn't have been able to do it.
I went to Babies R Us for the first time this past weekend to scope out cribs, strollers, etc. That has probably been the most overwhelming moment so far. I felt so in over my head with this entire situation at that point and very, very lost. It was also the first time that I have gotten emotional for no apparent reason during the pregnancy, which I didn't really enjoy.

@ChefAimee: I'm sorry it was so frustrating! We went to BRU this weekend too - I hate how that store is organized! It really helped that I had a very specific list of a few things I wanted to check out that we just beelined for. We found Target a lot easier to browse and just check things out as you go, although their selection is smaller.
pomegranate / 3032 posts
@ChefAimee: I found it much easier to do BRU on a week day. mine is right near my dr office so i went after my last appointment. it wasnt as crowded and there were more staff available to help and answer questions.
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
@ChefAimee: @daniellemybelle: Uggh, BRU. I had such a meltdown in there. I was much better off doing most of my research online and only going there if I really needed to see something in person. That place wasn't worth the stress it caused.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@ChefAimee: When I go to BRU, I try to go on a weekday or early on Saturday morning. Going in the afternoon is a nightmare. I am not a fan of the way the store is laid out, but eh. I hope your next experience is better!

I've been avoiding the big trip to Buy Buy Baby. Cuz I'm dreading it. But part of it is not really knowing where to begin. Did you guys reference a list of stuff you'll need? Any good, solid lists on the Web?
watermelon / 14467 posts
@corilyns: Some of the ladies have been referencing the book Baby Bargains. I pretty much just went in blind and looked at the list of "essentials" they gave me at BRU and figured out what I need/want based on that. I think going to BBB would be much better. I really liked registering at BB&B for my wedding, and they are run by the same company so I imagine everything is similar

@evansjamie: Ah! That's helpful. Thanks! I guess we'll get to it this weekend. The only things I'm actually excited to purchase are a glider and the crib. And I'd love to be one of the lucky ones to get a stroller on Craig's List. I hear that's the way to go. At least, 'round here in UppaBaby land.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@corilyns: I just printed out BBB's registry checklist, and it's much better than the one given to me by BRU. As for Craigslist, I've been stalking it trying to find a Joovy Zoom stroller or a gently used PB Kendall crib, but no dice down here in the mid-south.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@corilyns: I referenced Baby Bargains (amazing book!) and all the registry blog posts / guides here on Hellobee. I found a lot of things that they tell you to register for at BRU you don't really need to, like clothes and diapers, I think people will get you those regardless.
apricot / 377 posts
@daniellemybelle: Thanks. Once @evansjamie mentioned Baby Bargains I went over to Amazon to check it out and bought it. Seems I can't resist picking up a new book about having a baby. I'll check out the registry posts too. In my town they have this Baby Bump group that hosts a quarterly Baby Gear party where they roll out all the stuff you can buy/register for. I'm reluctantly going because I fear I'll go nuts and just start buying stuff that I may not need. The event is hosted by a retailer, so I'm pretty confident they'll give me tons of reasons to buy stuff.

I think its already been mentioned here or maybe on HB but I also went to Lucie's list http://www.lucieslist.com/. I found her website pretty helpful for registering as well as the Baby Bargain's book.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@corilyns: I LOOOOVED BBB!!! I would recommend 2 trips. I have a spreadsheet I created but it was based off of the Lucie's List one. I took her list, and then added the suggestions friends have given, and just went through area by area at BBB. They were amazingly helpful.
