Ladies, I almost had a meltdown a few minutes ago. DH sent me a message saying that he was scheduled to go to training on Monday (the same day as our ultrasound/appointment). It's all day training in Northern Indiana, 3-4 hours away and no way he could make the appointment and go to training. I was brainstorming, trying to think of when we could reschedule this quickly, if we would be able to do it when he's here, etc. Thankfully, his boss said that there is a make-up training on the 20th that he can attend instead. WHEW!
I was almost the crazy pregnant lady having a tantrum. Almost. I'm slightly ashamed.

@kjpugs: I'm going to BBB on Sunday! I'm so excited, I can't wait. DH just shakes his head at me.

@evansjamie: OMG are you in Indianapolis? Have we discussed this? We lived there for five years up until a year ago! Husband lived there almost his whole life. Sorry if that's random or if we already discussed it haha. And sooo glad he can go on the 20th!!!

@kjpugs: Nope, I'm in Louisville. Indy is only 1.5-2 hours away, but the training is further north. It's not random at all!

@evansjamie: boooo! That's right, I KNEW that!!! But I love Louisville too

Just a couple days ago there were a string of posts about feeling big but is anyone feeling the opposite?
I am 19 weeks and feeling quiet small. It was only made worse by a few comments by Moms at school, who didn't know I was pregnant (I am a Social Worker in an elementary school) commenting that I look skinny and am loosing weight fast after my first baby (which was 9 months ago.)
Its a weird feeling. With my daughter I gained weight fast- from 105 to 130 in the first 4-5 months and the second time around the weight is coming on slow. Naturally I begin to worry that maybe the baby isn't growing but then I stop myself knowing each baby belly is as different as the baby growing in it.
Anyone else having worries about their weight gain or the size of your belly?

@evansjamie: My Mom and beloved Nana are from Louisville. It's practically my second home. Love it! Glad tantrum was averted. Shamefully, I've had them over much less important matters. And almost threw a fit last night when it was suggested by Father-in-law that we sleep on the creaky, old queensize this summer at their rented lakehouse. I told my husband, There's no way I'm sleeping on HAY at 8 months pregnant. Luckily, he agreed. Tantrum averted.

@Protectlove: I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Those ladies probably thought they were giving you a compliment. Did you tell them you're pregnant? As long as your doctor says you're doing fine, try not to worry.
cherry / 124 posts
@corilyns: Thanks so much! I did tell them that I was pregnant after they said that and one of them said, "are you sure? You don't look like it." Which seemed weird to say. Oh well! I will do the best I can to let it go and if nothing else I will whatever I choose today!
Cheers!

@Protectlove: I'm trying not to worry about it. As long as the doctor isn't concerned, I don't think you should be, and those moms should definitely not be making comments! As for me, I feel gigantic, but I have a short torso and also had a bit of tummy chub that Woog is pushing up and out.

@evansjamie: Thanks dear! That is great advice!
We are all hard on ourselves no matter which way it goes- too big or too small- but its all with a good heart!

@Protectlove: I'm in the same boat. I was so sick for the first trimester and still even now that I haven't been gaining. I also have a long torso with short legs. I have several friends/coworkers that are pregnant and due all around the same time so its hard not to compare but like @Corilyns: and @Evansjamie said if the doctor isn't worried I wouldn't be either.
cherry / 124 posts
@Redmini1: Oh no!Being sick on top of the exhaustion we all feel that first trimester would be so hard. Hopefully you are feeling much better now!

I just began looking at Lucie's List and the Buy Buy Baby site and my eyes glazed over. Let's compare notes post-weekend on our experiences in the stores. Should be interesting. I need you guys to get me excited about this!

Has anyone really started to feel the baby move yet? For the last day or two, I have really been able to feel as opposed to thinking its gas or something else. He has been extremely active, especially after I eat. It's very bizarre and wonderful!
@protectlove: as the other ladies have said, I wouldn't worry about it unless the doctor is concerned. For me, I actually don't feel like I'm showing at all, just really, really fat. The baby hasn't produced a nice "bump" yet, just has enhanced my belly fat by ten-fold. People have no idea I am pregnant, but I can only assume have guessed I'm just rapidly gaining weight.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@ChefAimee: I'm pretty sure I felt a little bump on the outside today. I thought it might have been a vein/artery in my stomach, but it didn't happen again, so I'm going to say that it's Woog. Other than that, I feel flutters and tickles, nothing else, and it's all pretty low when I do feel it. My tummy chub hides anything closer to my belly button.

@ChefAimee: i've been feeling movement more and more i notice it esp if i wear a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans and the waist is pushing on my bump... its almost as if baby is pushing back
cherry / 175 posts
@CHEFAIMEE: I have felt some "movement", but I'm pretty sure it's not baby and it's just some other physiological phenomenon
Are any of you growing a bump yet not gaining any weight? I'm currently experiencing this and I'm not sure if I should be happy or if I should be concerned. My belly region looks as if I've gained 15 lbs, but I've only gained a pound in the last month, but lost a total of 4-5 lbs pre-pregnancy. I am currently 18 weeks on the nose today.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@ChefAimee: haven't felt the taps in a while but baby is a mover and a shaker per our last appts! (2 this week). I keep holding my hands there REALLLY still hoping to feel something on either end but nope. Everything I "feel" I think is all in my mind. Bet my anterior placentas doing all that!
We got the first items purchased off our registry today!!! A swing I REALLY love and 2 toys! So excited!!!!

@ChefAimee: I just started to feel noticeable movement in the past few days. I can feel if when I lay down flat or stand up straight with my arms up. I think that shrinks the space so it's easier to feel.

Last night was really weird, I was having these pains down in my lower abdomen. I was a little worried since I haven't experienced any type of cramp or anything. This may be too much info but I thought maybe I just needed to go to the bathroom. Anyway this morning my PG apps pop up reminders that I'm 19 weeks and could be experiencing round ligament pain. Anyone else feeling this too? It's where the ligaments that support your uterus are stretching to accommodate the baby. It was very strange but its gone this morning.
pomegranate / 3032 posts
@Redmini1: i've been feeling that pain every few weeks along with massive hunger and an extra lb of weight gain so i'm going with baby is having growth spurts
pear / 1837 posts
@mrs. mochi: I totally have a fairly significant bump (like, people can definitely tell I'm pregnant and have been asking about it)- I feel like I also look like I've gained 10-15 pounds but in reality it's only been one or two. I have no idea what's going on.
pomegranate / 3032 posts
@Lozza: @Mrs. Monkey: wouldnt it be nice if baby was stealing weight from other parts of your body? i on the other hand have gained 9 lbs so far
pear / 1837 posts
@Chillybear: I actually think that happened with my last pregnancy- I think I did actually lose weight in my face and legs!
I may have had a totally sucky pregnancy otherwise, but I guess at least I looked good?
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Chillybear: At 14 weeks, I was up 8 pounds...I'm kind of scared of what the scale will say on Monday.
@Redmini1: I've been having those pains too. Makes me worry the day of, but when they are gone the next day I'm fine.
I'm starting to see the linea nigra on the belly. Time to step up the moisturizing game, because that area of skin is super sensitive.
pomegranate / 3032 posts
@evansjamie: haha i thought my line was hair and tried to shave it the other day.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Chillybear: I thought so this morning too, but nope, not hair. I do need to wax, though...I may do that tonight so I don't get confused again.
cherry / 193 posts
@evansjamie: @Chillybear: I don't have the line, but my tummy has been getting more hair
Also, has anyone else noticed their belly button becoming more of an outie? I think mine is starting in that direction.

OMG, I thought I was the only one that was growing extra belly hair! What is that about!? This is not the beautiful smooth belly you see in pictures!

@daniellemybelle: They wax and photoshop that stuff. I just keep telling myself that when I get down.

@Protectlove: Amen sister! I have only gained 8-9 pounds. I am about to be 20 weeks pregnant. I have an appointment today to share my similar concerns with my doctor. Here is what I look like this week:

Okay ladies, we toured two daycares today. They were both nice, one was more home-like while the other was definitely more school-like, even though both are institutions. And then we got stuck in the rain 1/4 mile from our car/DH's office. I don't know which one we'll go with, but they both take cloth diapers (yay!) and have their pluses and minuses.
And, I'm at work now when I don't actually have to be. The day can only get better, right?

@ChefAimee: It's amazing how much more hyper aware we are of our bodies when we are pregnant. Our body image should be empowered, we are creating life, yet we worry about our weight and looks. Just remember the magic that is happening every time you feel that movement!

@KaitlynB: And our due dates are within days of each other! I am sure the doctor will tell you everything is going great! It looks like you were in great shape to start which helps. Just think- you are going to bounce back to pre-baby shape in no time!
Have a great Dr.s appointment!
Cheers!
