@daniellemybelle: yay for a healthy baby! And about the GD diet...my friend who followed it was bigger, but she didn't have GD. Her OB just wanted her to use it to keep her weight in check, and I think she only gained 15 lbs throughout her pregnancy. I hope you don't have it, but if they find out you do, the diet won't be as big of a shock because you would have already been following it.

@daniellemybelle: Don't worry, if you do the GD diet, you'll have less to lose post-baby. And I might join you, because lately I've been on an epicurean honeymoon. I managed my weight pretty well until 20 week ultra sound and I think I was so happy I lost my mind. Got French Fries? Yep, I'll take em. Cupcakes? Which I never liked before, Yes, please. Cheese, which upsets my stomach? Who cares! It tastes good.

@corilyns: I am right there too. I made S'mores bars the other day for work, and I ate 3 or 4. Don't want to cook? Ok, let's have Chick-fil-a. And don't get me started on pop. Baby girl LOVES Coke. It's insane. Hopefully I get back on the eating healthy train soon.

Well ladies, doing my part to even things out in this pink party ... we had our u/s yesterday and it's another little boy.
I've been a bit sad -- not because I don't want another boy, as I know how wonderful DS has been -- but just kind of mourning that I may never have a girl. I wish people would realize the difference when they make snarky comments, sigh.
Anyway, I am also a little concerned because this time I have a low-lying placenta and baby has a potential kidney issue. Trying not to freak out too much because I was assured that both issues will more than likely correct themselves in the coming weeks, but I'll have to get a 28-week u/s so they can check.
pomelo / 5073 posts
@Mrs. Yoyo: congrats on another boy!!! I'm going to say some prayers that your placenta moves up and the kidney issue will resolve itself. Sometimes you want to just pop people on the head for the comments they say. I'm sorry!!
Thanks everyone for the well wishes on our little girl! I already bought an outfit that's all pink and ruffled.
I know DH was hoping for a girl because he is out of town so much for working, so it will be fun to have girl time when daddy is out of town. .

@Mrs. Yoyo: congrats on your boy! My baby also has a kidney issue - one is slightly dilated. It too, is supposed to work itself out and I have to go back for another u/s at 28 weeks. Try not to stress about it. I started a thread about it in which I got great advice, as soon as I get to my computer I'll post it. Hopefully it'll make you feel a bit better.

@Mrs. Yoyo: congrats on your boy!! I am sure the issues will resolve themselves and we'll all be jealous of your u/s pictures at 28 weeks!!!!

@daniellemybelle: Mmm...Popsicle! They're healthy, otherwise the nurses wouldn't give them to us at L&D.
@Mrs. Yoyo: Congratulations on your little boy! I bet your son will be so excited to have a little brother to play with. I also have/had a low-lying placenta at my 19 week ultrasound, and at 22 weeks the tech told me it had moved up enough to not be a concern. I'll be praying about the kidney issue also, but try not to worry and don't Google it!
@Jennimac: Little girl clothes are the cutest! Ours has a large quantity of ruffly pink and purple things. Will you post a picture?

Hi Ladies! Add another one to Team BLUE!!! We just found out and are over the moon about having a son! We were going to wait to find out, but Little Bun just couldn't resist showing us that he's all boy immediately when he appeared on screen.
Sorry I've been MIA for the past few weeks. The end of this school year has just been crazy! Going to catch up on everything that's been going on after I post this!
Congrats to all you mamas on finding out the sex of your baby and to Team Green for your will power to not have an early reveal!!! You go ladies!!!

@Mrs. Yoyo: I'm having my second boy too, and this is going to be it for us, so I do feel you on the "Yes, I LOVE having a son, and it's going to be awesome... but it would be cool to know the awesomeness of having a girl too..."
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
@Lozza: Yup, that's the best way to sum it up. I was thinking right after I found out, "I don't get to go wedding dress shopping with my daughter when she gets married" and it made me soooo sad. Such a silly thing to focus on, but yeah.
pear / 1837 posts
@Mrs. Yoyo: Yeah, I think about stuff like the fact that I'm really close to my mom, and she was there when I had my first, and I really liked having her around when LO was a newborn, and she's the first person I talk to about all kinds of LO stuff... and DH is still really close with his dad (his mom passed away), but there's no way his family gets as much contact with LO or information on LO as mine does, and I think that's not uncommon, and makes me a little sad.
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
@Lozza: Exactly. I'm also really close to my mom. I was trying to explain to DH that part of the reason I was sad was, "I'll always have to be the MIL." And he was like, "I don't get it. My mom is my mom." And I said, "Yes, obviously. But I would never whip a boob out in front of your mother to breastfeed." And he kind of got it then.

How is everyone doing on names? We still aren't telling anyone what we're having but I am just DRIVING MYSELF NUTS. My BFF and her work BFF both have their names set and while we agreed we weren't sharing prior to baby's arrival, I'm going crazy back and forth between the ones we like (then DH changes his mind, over and over and over, AHHH!) So are you set? Do you have a short list? Or just totally undecided?
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@kjpugs: I think we are 90% sure. 99% on the first name, though I waffle from time to time. The middle name is harder.
We're not sharing publicly either but I find myself waiting to refer to her by her name! The only reason I'm holding out is because I really don't want to hear any negative opinions and let that affect me!
If any of you are sharing your names publicly, PLEASE tell us! I love to talk names

Hi October Mamas! I wanted to pop in with a long overdue update!
We had our anatomy scan on Tuesday and we're having another boy! Baby boy looks great and was super cooperative. We were able to get all of the scans we needed (I had to go back with my oldest). I also learned that I have an anterior placenta. It was such a relief to find out! I've been so worried over the last few weeks because I hadn't felt any movement. I first felt movement at 16.5 weeks with my oldest and assumed it would happen earlier this time around.
@Mrs. Yoyo: I was so relieved to see your post. I've been contemplating whether I would post about the same thing. I've always imagined I would have a little girl and now I am so sad that I may never have a girl. Your post about always being the mother-in-law makes me even sadder. I didn't even think about that!
pomelo / 5321 posts
@kjpugs: @daniellemybelle: we have a first name picked but are undecided when it comes to a middle name. We haven't told anyone yet but I'll probably share with the hive once we decide on a full name. I really want to keep the name a secret from people IRL until baby is born, but DH doesn't want to.

@Sweet T: Congratulations on your boy! You have officially tipped the scale towards boys here! I'll tell you the same thing I told Mrs. Yoyo - the moms I know with two boys absolutely love it and wouldn't want it any other way!

@kjpugs: my husband and i are about 99% certain about the first name we've selected for our girl. we are still talking through middle names as of now although we do have a strong contender! we, too, are not sharing publicly because it seems that names tend to be so polarizing! the name will be announced when the babe arrives; however, at home, my husband and i tend to call the bump by the name we are 99% sure of!

@mrs. mochi: I noticed on the appt list that you are doing your glucose screening the day before your check-up. Did they tell you why that is? Mine is the same day.

Hi all, I'm mostly a lurker BUT wanted to comment on this thread! We're due with our first on October 24th, a BOY, and just had our 20week scan today. Everything looks good but they have a teeny tiny concern about the placenta so we are going back at 28 weeks for another ultrasound. So excited to be a mommy and have an October baby! Sending warm wishes to you all!

@Sweet T: Aw, didn't mean to make you feel even worse with my own brooding. And yeah, I think what we're feeling is normal and I'm glad to hear us admit it to each other!
