@Muggle Born: Hi! I love your user name! I'm currently rereading the Harry Potter series since I imagine I won't have much time for reading come October. Welcome to the hive!

@Mrs. Yoyo: oh! Don't feel bad! I've totally been pouting over not being able to buy bows and dresses. I agree that it is normal and I'm glad I know someone who understands.

Had our anatomy scan tonight and finally found out that baby is a girl! So excited, and laughed that our son was right, he insisted it was a sister. But he also thinks it is a blue dinosaur that is in HIS belly so maybe he doesn't fully get it. Haha!

@DANIELLEMYBELLE: I wanted to do my glucose screening right away in the morning; however, between that and my OB's schedule, we weren't able to do back to back appointments. This is no big deal for me since I work in the hopsital/clinic that I receive my care

@daniellemybelle:
Re: names, we're thinking something along the lines of Nathaniel, Jonathan, David, Michael, Adam, Daniel, or Aaron. We tend to go for the old-school, old testament-y names. Part of our issue is finding names where we like both the full name and, if applicable, the nickname(s). I have no idea what we'll do for a middle- my older son's middle name is my dad and grandfather's name, but we don't really have any other male family names (I totally wanted to pass on my middle name to a girl, but it would be a little weird to do it for son #2).

Oh October Mama's, the last couple weeks have been crazy here in our household... between a car accident, buying a new car, work events and life, I was falling asleep on my couch at 5:30pm yesterday...
First off congrats to all the gender reveals! Even though we aren't finding out, I get so excited when one of you reveals it. I hope to see some nursery pics on here too b/c I need all the help I can get in that area.
@Muggle Born: Congrats and welcome!!
As for names, if we have a boy it will be named Dylan Clyde... Clyde is a family name on DH's side; if we have a girl, it will be between 4 names - Jillian Jane, Jane Leigh, Lisa Jane, Josephine Jane... Leigh is my middle name.

So happy for all who have found out and who are finding out. I'm on my phone and it's too hard to go back and respond to everyone individually.
Afm, I'm 21 wks, which is the farthest we've been in pregnancy. Woohoo!!! Also, had my first stranger ask when I was due yesterday. And had my first unasked belly pat-not by the same person. It was awkward.
I've been feeling my pressure in my crotch area, like the bones are sore. Has anyone else been feeling that? I've had a problem feeling like I've been kind of constipated and last night and this morning I feel like it's sort of been the opposite. My tummy just doesn't feel 'happy'. Of course, these two things combined make me worry my body is doing something crazy like going into preterm labor, but I have no other cramps or aches. I can feel baby girl moving and kicking so that doesn't worry me. I told DH that I'm going to have a whole new set of stuff to worry about because I don't know what to expect this far along!
Also, we are struggling on names. We had two boy names picked out-we were happy about them and were ready. Now, no clue!!!

Other than a good appointment, my day is really crappy. I made a mistake in one of our publications (transposed a letter), and now I feel like absolute dog crap. This is the second mistake I've made on a publication in the last month.
I know I shouldn't worry, but I constantly do about my job. They don't have to hold it for me during my leave. The company is not affected by FMLA because we don't have enough staff.
I hope you guys are having a better day than I am.

@Jennimac: I haven't noticed it so much yet with this pregnancy, but with my last, I CONSTANTLY felt like I'd just been kicked in the crotch. My bones there just ached all the time- I mentioned it once to the OB and she was like "yeah, that's kind of just part and parcel of all of the shifting and pressure and stuff that's going on. Totally normal."
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Jennimac: besides my flaming hip/back pain I do get some crotch discomfort/pain too. Felt like that after we were at Disney for a few hours Friday after work.I just can't be on my feet like I used to!

Happy 22 weeks to me today! Well, to baby I laugh every time I see that repost with the boys/girls list... the team green/unkonwn should be "Team Green / Unknown / Biotches who are holding out on us." AKA, ME! I am DYING TO TELL YOU ALL! If there was any way to guarantee that no one I know IRL or who is coming to my showers would see it, I would totes tell you! I've told a few internet friends thus far. Bug me on twitter if you want to know
(I'm kjpugs everywhere, btw. IG, twitter, etc) I cannnnnnnnnot wait until I can tell you all on July 12!!!!!!!
In less fun news, my breast cyst that I had checked out (mammogram/breast ultrasound) a little over a year ago has returned with a vengagnce. It started in Feb 2012 which I think is when I went off the pill because I remember my first HORRIBLE menstrual cramps were the day after my nephew was born (Feb.) I think I went off the pill right before that which would make sense. So I hope that the cyst (it was deemed "nothing"- and I just have a soreness-style pain) is related to horomones. Which clearly I have a ton of now! I could have opted for a biopsy last year but it stopped being sore so I forgot about it. I'll be bringing it up at my 24 week appt to see what my OB says. Meanwhile, every time I feel the soreness I get worried

@jennimac: Have you told your doctor? I was having vag pains last week. My doctor told me its par for the course too. It may help to call -- just to take away some of the worry.
@kjpugs: Hey, When are you getting the cyst checked out? Positive thoughts coming from ChiTown.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@corilyns: thanks! My appt is in 2 weeks so I'm just going to wait it out until then. Since it checked out as nothing previously I'm trying to just remind myself of that. I didn't ask if the soreness/pain would come and go or not, or what to expect for the future- it was more "let's make sure this isn't a tumor." I'm hoping this is something they see a lot? Either way glad my appt is with an OB I really like and can't wait to just hand it over to her expertise!

@Jennimac: I don't have any crotch pain yet but I remember my BF telling me how horrible it was for her. I think it's normal but I'd still call and check if it'd make you feel better. DH and I had a list of 6 girls names and of course we are having a boy and we can not come up with anything we both love. ugh!
@evansjamie: I hope your day gets better!!
@kjpugs: can't wait to find out what your baby is! maybe you should start a Gold post to share the news?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@ladybee: I was thinking of that! But at least one gold bee is coming to my shower in Indy! So I dont want to spoil the reveal for them!!! GAHH first world problems!

AFM, according to my LMP I am 20 weeks today! Half way there! However, my OBGYN told me that they changed my due date at my last u/s (car accident one) but no one mentioned that to me. I don't want a due date change! We go again this Thursday for our final anatomy scan so I'm going to ask then.
Overall, I feel pretty good. I'm beyond tired again which I was not expecting. I am off work for the summer now so I think catching up on sleep will make me feel better. I felt baby boy kick for the first time Saturday so that was very exciting! Otherwise, things are just ticking along. I can't believe how fast time has gone by!

@Jennimac: I had horrible crotch pain and pain to the sides of my lower stomach last week. It was so bad that I couldn't really walk. That combined with intense lower back pain was scaring me. I went the the doctor and checked out fine. Cervix still closed. My doctor blamed it on ligament pain and says I must just be going through a growth spurt.
We announced this week that we are naming our daughter Rilynn.
"A little piece of both daddy and mommy - Ryan + Kaitlyn : Rilynn"
We had never heard it and thought we made it up. After googling it I found out it was a real name, but it's special none the less.

@Jennimac: Crotch pain is awful. Child's pose, pelvic tilts, and squats have been helping me lately. Yay for 21 weeks!
@kjpugs: I'm sorry to hear about your cyst! I hope the pain goes away and that your OB can help with it.
@ladybee: Woohoo halfway!
@KaitlynB: I love her name!
I just realized that V-Day is this Friday for me! So I've been chanting, "Hail to the V!"
I had a good cry this morning and ultimately, everyone makes mistakes, I just have to work harder right now to prove my worth. It just really, really sucks when your boss basically says, "Obviously, editing isn't one of your strengths," and makes you feel really guilty.
My kitty Roo was spayed today, and I feel so sorry for the poor thing. Autumn, her sister, has been running around hissing at her since we got home. Roo hasn't eaten since last night, so that worries me, and I don't know how I'm going to give her her meds. She's pitiful.
Baby girl is doing well! My belly is measuring 22.5 weeks right now, heart rate was in the 150's, and in four weeks, I've put on 4 lbs. Not too shabby, that puts me at a pound a week gain so far. Next up is our 26 week growth scan, and then a week after that I'll take my glucose test.
Finally, I toured L&D! It's very nice, and I hope I get one of the tub rooms. The postpartum rooms very much look like hospital rooms and are quite small. Hopefully, I don't have to stay long.
Whew, that was a book!

@evansjamie: Meant to tell you ((hugs)) on the work stuff, balancing it all can be hard especiallly when there are no guarantees like you said. Just keep at it and hopefully the rest of the week will look up!!!! Also hope your kitty feels better!!!!

Thanks, ladies. Who knew that so many people suffering crotch pain would make me feel better! Again on my phone, so I'll respond to everyone later. I go next Friday, June 21, so if it gets horrible ill call, but everyone is telling it is pretty normal at this time and I'm sure it is. I don't have any back pain, etc. so I sure
It is just stuff stretching out.

@evansjamie: I can totally sympathize. I wish I had someone to Double check m work sometimes. Especially after spending days writing and reviewing something. It's impossible to catch everything. I treasure the moments that I catch others mistakes only because I hope we all then realize we are human and make mistakes sometimes. Tomorrow will be a better day!
@jennimac: I've felt something similar (I think) but assume its either the baby karate chopping my cervix, increased blood flood and/or the pregnancy weight. Needless to say I have my 24 week apt on Friday and will ask my midwife.
@ladybee: congrats on making it half way. It's crazy how much movement you'll start to feel. Seriously like an alien in your belly!
@kjplugs: sending good thoughts our way. The unknown is always so scary, just remember that you are doing the #1 best thing - getting it checked out! Looking forward to seeing which team you're on too

@Jennimac: I had really horrible pain deep in my vagina (TMI?) about a week or two ago. I thought that I was dialating for a while because it was so bad. Turns out it was just round ligament pain. I get a lot of stretching/cramping pain in my lower abdomen/groin during the day, but especially if I walk for a long amount of time. My doctor said it's completely normal as long as it isn't persistent (which it isn't). Since last week, it's all since vanished (for now).
These past few weeks have been the most stressful with symptoms (ironically). With the groin pain and increase discharge that I thought was amneotic fluid, I have been a little uneasy, but in the last few days everything has subsided and I feel much better.
I've also found that I'm EXTREMELY sensitive to salt. I think I need to watch it, because it is a precursor to pre-eclampsia, but whenever I eat too much salt I swell up. And not just my feet, but my eyes too. Luckily it subsides within half an hour, but I usually feel like crap for a few hours after that. So...I'm hoping that if I just stay clear of the sodium I'll be okay. My BP has been creeping up slowly throughout the pregnancy.
I will discuss all of this with my doctor the next time I see him, but for now, I just need to watch what I eat.
How's everyone dealing with the summer heat?
watermelon / 14467 posts
@ChefAimee: As long as I stay relatively cool and drink enough water, the heat isn't bothering me that much. A couple of weeks ago I went to get my oil changed and ended up having to wait an hour in the un-air conditioned garage. My heart rate got kind of high (110), I had to lay down in the car, and my feet/ankles started to swell. The real test is going to be this weekend when I'm walking a 5k and then possibly going to the zoo. Temps are forecasted to be in the mid-80's.
apricot / 377 posts
@evansjamie & @chefaimee Stay cool sisters! And go easy on the salt! It's so hard. Especially since salty foods are this pregnant girl's best friend. Pho! Potato Chips! French Fries! Rotisserie Chicken!
@ladybee -- Congrats on the halfway mark! Feels good doesn't it?
@KaitlynB - Your girl's name is lovely.

@ChefAimee: Florida here, and the heat is killing me. We went to Disney on Friday and I forgot to bring my own water bottle... we stood in line (in shade) for 40 minutes for this Pirates of the Caribbean "show" and by the time we got inside I almost left, I thought I was going to pass out. I had to lean against the wall (when I found out it was standing only and no seats!!!! WHAT? It sucked, i was so mad we waited.) The heat just adds another delightful layer to doing anything here. We rushed out to get me my 3rd water bottle after that show, thankfully!
coffee bean / 47 posts
@kjpugs: I worked at Disney last summer and granted I wasn't pregnant then, but the heat sucked. I was lucky that I worked in a very air conditioned kitchen, but we had many a cast members pass out because they weren't used to the heat. When I would go to the parks, I would always forget water bottles, which was stupid since it was SOOOO expensive to buy a bottle of water (even with a discount).
Actually, passing out at Disney because of the heat is the most common "injury" during the summer season. At least you guys all have air conditioning down there.
It's been wonderful here so far. It will get warm (low 80's) for a few days, and like today, get really overcast and stormy bringing the temps down the the 60's. The nice thing is, it will always cool off into the 40's at night. Thank goodness for Montana mountain weather! However, I'm predicting the 100 degree July heat will hit sooner rather than later...and that is what I'm dreading more than anything (since we don't have air conditioning here!).
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@ChefAimee: too funny- my husband is a chef at WDW! And was there last summer!!!!!! What restaurant did you work at???
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: Oh man, I bet that Florida heat is killer! I went a few years ago in October, and it was hard on us then (we were coming from temps in the 50's in KY).
@ChefAimee: Maybe you guys could get a window unit for those hot hot days?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: October is blissful comparitively!!! The summers (June through September mostly) are BRUTAL. Proof that I really didn't think this all the way through, HAHA!
