So, in an interesting turn of events, I have a job interview next Wednesday at 2:30! I am very excited, nervous, and searching for a more professional looking presentation book. Wish me luck!

@evansjamie: Thats great news! Good luck! do you think your pregnancy will be an issue?
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Chillybear: I don't know. It might, but I wanted to throw my hat in the ring anyway. I wasn't planning to interview prior to my leave, but when the opportunity came up, I jumped on it. My plan is to go in with a loose plan of action for prepping for maternity leave (after I hear more about the duties), disclose the pregnancy, and hope for the best.
ETA: This position is at a private school and I'm meeting with two women.

@evansjamie: Sounds like youve got your bases covered. Hopefully they will be understanding and sympathetic to the situation

So I'm having the worst f**king day of my life. (Exaggeration but still.) trying to fly to IN for our shower/reveal tonight and my gender reveal blog post went up AM instead of PM bc I'm an idiot. I have gotten 7392773 messages about it and I'm just praying no one who is going tonight saw it (or sees it in their reader which apparently is still showing it) before I deleted it. And my standby flight got delayed so back to our original one. Just.... this day needs to get better. </vent>

@kjpugs: Hugs lady. I hope your day gets better, that you are able to sit down until your flight boards, and that you aren't last boarding again because I know how much that sucks. I sat on the floor last year at BWI for three hours because nobody would give up their seat (I had just been in a car accident; it jacked my back up so bad to sit on the floor). Have fun this weekend!

@evansjamie: Congrats! Really excited for you and keeping my fingers crossed! Funny timing since we were just talking about this!!!

@kjpugs: Sorry to hear you're having such a bad day! It will get better - you have a baby shower and gender reveal and people are going to be psyched for you. Safe travels!

Thanks for the sweet words everyone! Only ruined it for one guest who was super sweet about it! And everyone else was surprised! We told them with cake balls from the bakery I used to work at! Here we go...

AFM, I am jumping up and down because I went on to PBKids to buy something and realized someone had already bought some of our bedding!!!
Side note: my mom is buying more today cause I have a 20% off coupon and we are baby poor!

Just got back from the zoo! I learned that a good stroller with swivel wheels is a must, I hate tandem strollers, 3 year olds are apparently too heavy for me to carry, and I am a rock star for walking the zoo at 28 weeks pregnant. I had to take my rings off because I started to swell, and I hope I can get them back on tomorrow.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@evansjamie: I love the zoo! I went with my class at 17 weeks pregnant and had to take my rings off. They've fit on and off since but since I put on some weight after our wedding they were snug to begin with.

Our baby shower was just moved to our house. Cue mini-freak out about fitting 50 people in our tiny house.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@ladybee: Can your furniture be rearranged in any way to make more floor space? I'm with you, we are planning a thanksgiving sip and see for our extended families and I'm not sure how we'll fit 30+ people in our 1100 sq. ft. House.
pomelo / 5073 posts
@evansjamie: yuck!!! I've been wearing my fake ring because I'm so afraid of my ring getting stuck. My mom had her rings cut off with my 3rd sister.
@ladybee: I. Would. Die.
On another note, I was super happy that my order from motherhood came in. I ordered two dresses for my showers and they.look.Awful. Horrible. Didn't make me feel pretty at all and made me feel bad. Now I'm hoping I can find something tomorrow where we are shopping.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Jennimac: I hate that! I'm so sorry your sweaters did that to you. You are a beautiful person no matter what, but I understand the power of a bad outfit.
I went on a quest for a shirt for my interview, and I was disgusted with the GapMaternity selection. It was such a small part of the store, I only found one shirt that was remotely business appropriate, and I refuse to pay $30 for a shirt that might fit for another week or so. I'm headed to Motherhood tomorrow, otherwise I will just have to find something in my current wardrobe.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: totally agree about Gap maternity. The selection was awful and tiny!

AND, to top off my weekend, while I was cleaning the tub I found a 1" long section of grout missing between two tiles. Now I need to figure out if I can just regrout that area or if this is a gut job. I have no idea how long it's been missing. It looks like my nursery budget might become my "gut and tile your tub surround while you hope there isn't any mold" budget.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@evansjamie: Oh no! Our baby budget has gone to everything else that was wrong with our house because we need it fixed before baby comes too.

@kjpugs: Congrats on joining Team PINK!!!
@ladybee: I'm starting to see stuff being purchased off my registries but my shower is going to be a surprise and i'm thinking its still at least a few weeks away. so exciting
@Jennimac: I havent ventured into gap maternity or motherhood yet. I've been sticking mostly with target and old navy. but even with them I'm very disappointed with their stock in stores. I've had better luck finding pieces in the regular clothes and getting a size up.
@evansjamie: Home renovations are killing us too. When we found out we were expecting we were at the tail end of our addition project and have since added a patio (needed to pass final inspection) and have started working on finishing the basement so we can clear out what will be the nursery. At this point I'm just hoping for really generous friends and family to gift us the necessities so we dont have to dip more into savings.
ASFM: Found out this morning that my manager, who is currently on a cruise this week, made the announcement after i left for the day on friday that she is also expecting and is due 12/30 which is right before i come back from maternity leave. So she's 16 weeks. This should be interesting..... We also have 2 other coworkers that are due end of Nov and middle of Jan, luckily they're in different departments.

@Chillybear: Me too! My first (possibly only) shower is scheduled for August 10, and we already have most of the big stuff (car seat, crib, mattress) we needed to purchase. On the bright side, my parents offered my grandmother's recliner to us, so that means our glider can go into the nursery with only minimal updating (needs new cushions, but I can do that) and the recliner can go in the living room.
I'm calling a bunch of places today to see if I can get some estimates on repair. I really, really hope this isn't something that will cost thousands. If I have to retile, I'm getting the $.20 white subway tile from Home Depot or something like that.

phew... just got the call from my doctor's office.... I passed my glucose test!

@Sadieloo: Ladies -- have you tried MineForNine.com? It's a maternity clothes rental kinda like RenttheRunway.
@chillybear - congrats on Glucose!
@kjpugs - congratulations on your baby girl.
Good luck to all with your showers!

@Chillybear: Lol. Blizzard...yummmy... That really does sound great, especially as it's 90+ degrees today!
@Corilyns: I have never heard of MineForNine.com Of course now I am thinking, why didn't I think of that. Such a great idea and thanks for sharing!
How's everyone feeling these days? I am officially 28+ weeks and my motivation to work is decreasing by the day! I really need to work on winning the lottery!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Chillybear: Yep, I totally had ice cream pie just in case I fail my 3-hour test.
@Sadieloo: My low back hurts. I'm going to have to schedule a trip to the chiropractor. It's the first time in six weeks my back has hurt this badly.
apricot / 377 posts
@Sadieloo: What's cool about MineforNine is that they send you a second size for Free! if one doesn't fit, just send back the other one. Buying on the Web is always hit or miss for me, so I appreciated this aspect. You get the gear for a month. Or two weeks, I think.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Sorry to hear about your back. I hope the chiropractor helps. My back has definitely been feeling a little more sore, but not too bad...yet...
kiwi / 726 posts
@corilyns: Oh cool! I may have to borrow something for my baby shower next month. Especially if it's only $20 or so to rent!!!
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@corilyns: @Sadieloo: I just rented a dress from MineForNine for a mini-shower and I loved it! Highly recommend it.
Anyone not having a shower, or at least not a "big" one? I had a small, absolutely wonderful shower with a few friends last week, and I'm pretty sure that's the only one I'm having. I would, of course, love to have a big shower with all our friends and family but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Selfishly I hope folks still get us practical gifts! Babies need so much stuff!
apricot / 377 posts
@daniellemybelle: I'll likely have a dinner party co-Ed shower that will be kinda small. Maybe 20? If that? We're just figuring out where to do it. And if we don't get it planned soon, it'll be a Sip and See around the holidays.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@daniellemybelle: I don't think I'm having a big family shower either. Most of my family lives on the east/west coasts, so I highly doubt they will drive 12+ hours for a baby shower. We're thinking of doing a Thanksgiving sip and see with my parents so they can meet the baby. However, my group of friends from college are throwing me a shower and I'm really excited about it!
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
@corilyns: That sounds nice! 20 is a perfect size for a shower. Are you planning it yourself? I've also considered doing a "sip & see" but it seems like a lot of work after the baby's arrived!
@evansjamie: That's nice about your friends from college! I only have one really close friend where we live now, and she's not in the position to host anything.
