@kjpugs: I know! I laid in bed for 30 minutes this morning before finally getting up because I just knew that my pelvis was going to hurt and I was avoiding it. I hobble like an old lady in the mornings. I'm going to a new chiropractor tomorrow, so hopefully she can give me some relief soon!

@kjpugs: @evansjamie: Are either of you doing yoga or anything to kind of stretch your bodies out? I've been very delinquent lately but keep thinking it would help a lot with some of the discomfort. Also re: pelvic discomfort -- our yoga teacher told us to lay on our backs, or an incline, with our legs straight up against the wall to help take some of the pressure off your pelvis. I've done that a couple of times for 20 min or so and it really has helped.

@SADIELOO: Yes, the Aden+Anais blankets are a must but I'd really opt for the bamboo versus the muslin As for the cloth diapers, I was gifted Gerber's 5 ply cotton as well as Gerber's Organic Birdseye 3 ply cotton. My friends have used both and said they work great.
I second prenatal yoga! I go to a 1.5 hour class every week and try to practice on my own 2 times a week. I can say that I successfully ran 10-15 mi/week through my 2nd trimester. I am cutting down my mileage now as I am getting really tight hip flexors after running plus my baby bump seems to need just a little more support when I'm running. I'm going to slowly taper off and max out around 10 miles a week or less now, plus it's been hot and humid around here even in early mornings or evenings.

@kjpugs: Cosigned on the Team Green thing. Team Green ladies, please start your own separate list from "Unknown"!
I have been going to prenatal yoga sporadically and it really helps. I have done a few of the poses at home and they do make a difference, although at this point I think the only way I could sleep comfortable would be floating in a giant pool of Jello...

@Sadieloo: I haven't been doing prenatal yoga, but when it gets really bad I'll sit in child's pose and I notice that it helps a lot. Sitting on my exercise ball gives me some relief too. I have back/hip problems from my car accident last year, so the chiro will at least get be back in alignment, and I'm looking into some other yoga positions to do at home as well.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted thoughts/opinions...we are going to register on Thursday, and are looking really at the Chico Key Fit 30 infant seat. We were all about it and my SIL is due in January so she wants to get the same seat so bases match in all our cars and in my parents car, but she mentioned that the visor isn't as big on the keyfit according to her friends. I'm going to be a first time mom so I guess my question is is how much should I worry about the visor having a fall/winter infant and can't I just add another cover over it if I want to shield LO from strangers? What car seats are you all looking at?
Also strollers...I was all about the BOB as a go to stroller until my friend was in this weekend and showed me the City Mini that would allow me to hold baby in one arm and with the other flip it down and into the car in one motion.
And I promise...last question thought...I have a small car, is anyone upsizing cars bf LO arrives or will you make due until you outgrow the current vehicle?
Thanks everyone!

@mrs. mochi: 10-15 miles. That is impressive! I gave up running a long time ago.
@daniellemybelle: totally agree! I have tried to make a cocoon of pillows, but it isn't working so well.
@evansjamie: good to know about childs pose. I haven't tried that one yet. Sorry to hear you were in a car accident too - that can really mess your body up!
Anyone see the pics of Kate Middleton? Of course she looks amazing! I am happy to know that she still retained her 6 month prego belly post delivery like most of the world.

Welcome to all of you ladies who have recently joined!!! So excited for you!!! I'm so happy to see everyone is doing so well!! Sorry to those who failed the glucose test. It must be a lot of added stress, but at least you were able to find out and are finding ways to keep yourself and baby healthy during your pregnancy.

@eisrael: I hate canned spinach, but I LOVE fresh spinach. Maybe try using it as your base green for salads?
@eisrael: My friend has the Keyfit 30, and we didn't have any issues with her son at the Zoo as far as keeping the sun off him while using it. I know our babies are fall/winter babies, but I don't think any canopy is going to fully cover the whole seat and we'd end up using a blanket anyway. I'm planning on getting a BOB and using it as my main stroller as long as it fits in my car. We bought a 2011 Nissan Versa hatchback last year to be our family car (also, because our Jeep was totaled in our wreck), so I don't plan on upsizing unless we buy a second car.

@Sadieloo: Yes, we were rear-ended by a semi last year, so my pelvis was misaligned and I had whiplash. It's much better now, I just haven't been going to my regular chiro because of some issues that have come up and I don't trust him anymore. I'm seeing another practice that was highly recommended by my midwife, so I'm excited!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: I didn't see it coming, so while I hate semi's, I'm not as tense about them as my husband, who did see him coming too fast and angled us so we didn't hit the car in front. Surprisingly, we were able to drive away from the accident, and my husband continued to drive Beastie to work (I refused to ride in him). It wasn't until a few months later that we found out the frame was basically trashed. So we scrapped him. RIP Beastie.

@eisrael: I don't know anything about the key fit, just wanted to add we're going with a Britax system (I think it's B-Safe and B-Agile?) We really liked them best at the store and found them highly recommended on Lucie's List too. I think it's smart to go check them out together!
coffee bean / 33 posts
@evansjamie: thanks so much and how scary of an accident that must have been! Just glad you guys were able to drive away from it...very lucky!
I'm going to try to use spinach as my salad base tonight...if not I'm going to have to trick myself into putting it in a smoothie! I'm finding my taste aversions are starting to come back now, didn't expect that one!
coffee bean / 33 posts
@kjpugs: Thanks! We actually looked at the Britax as well and I loved that it was highest rated in safety, but it weighed in at about 13lbs and being as how I'm "normally" 5'0 and about 115, adding an infant to that was going to be too heavy...so that's why we are looking at the Keyfit, it's only 9lbs and rated I think 2nd in safety. Plus I couldn't get the Britax to fit in my car, or if I did I could only have a driver and someone in back...the passenger seat would be against the dash. (driving a Nissan Sentra right now).

@eisrael: I wouldn't worry about the KeyFit visor. It's a very minor annoyance on an otherwise awesome seat. My first LO was a mid-June baby and we just draped a muslin AA blanket over the seat if need be to keep the sun and/or gawkers away. Not a big deal at all, especially when it's not summer.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@eisrael: If you go to this link (http://www.nissanusa.com/snugkids/manuals), you can find which car seats will fit in your vehicle if it's listed! They have a PDF for the Sentra. The Keyfit was one that I was looking at initially, but it won't fit in the back of the Versa. This list will tell you which seats fit in the back of your car, and it's extremely extensive.

@mrs. mochi: I didn't know that about the vitamin C but I'll be sure to incorporate it, thank you for the tip!
@eisrael: I have a small car too (Ford Focus) and I'm having trouble deciding on a car seat... Right now I'm also looking at the Chicco Keyfit 30 but haven't pulled the trigger on it.
kiwi / 726 posts
@eisrael: We are also going with the keyfit. A bunch of our friends recommended it and it was highly rated in Consumer Reports/online. It was also very easy to get out of the base when we tested it out at the store, so we were sold!
We are also getting a City Mini hand-me-down from my sister. And we have heard great things about it from friends and strangers (yes, I am one of those people that will stop someone on the street to ask them if they like their stroller).
We are also thinking about getting a bigger car so we can fit the baby, our dog and more than one adult in the back seat. Our poor dog has no idea what she's in for - she's 80 lbs and generally likes to stretch out across the back seat

@eisrael: i have several friends who were happy with the chicco keyfit 30. i decided to go with the maxi-cosi mico because i, too, am petite and didn't want to lug a heavy infant seat around. it installs nicely in the middle of my 2012 CR-V without compromising positioning of the two front seats.
we are getting a BOB ironman stroller because we have a quinny zapp xtra folding seat stroller that'll be in the car and for travel. we thought about the BOB revolution for everyday, but it is just too big. it takes up half the cargo space in our CR-V!
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@Sadieloo: We just traveled this weekend with our 40 pound basset hound mix and I thought the same thing. Oh buddy, you will not get to stretch out like that much longer!

@ladybee: Poor pooches! Are you doing anything to prep your dog for life with a sibling? We played some baby sounds the other day to see how she'd react. She lifted her head, 'like what is that,' and then proceeded to fall asleep. Overall, I think she'll be great but a little jealous.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: I keep thinking we need to start doing something to prep the girls (my dog and two cats) for life with baby, but I don't know what to do other than have the nursery set up. Bea never goes into the nursery unless one of us is in there, and she didn't really pay attention to my friends son when he was here. But the cats still think that it's their room. They haven't been in the crib yet, but Autumn does like to sleep in the car seat and both kitties like the space under the crib.
@eisrael: We got a Graco SnugRide 35. It was highly rated, the fabric was nice, and it fits well into the back of our Versa. I've been riding in the passenger seat with it one click up to get used to it over the past few months. BRU let us test it in our car prior to purchasing it to make sure it fit.

@evansjamie: Thats a really good idea about asking to test it in the car... I'll have to check that out when i get my Soul back from the body shop.

Keyfit 30 & City Mini for us too! Apparently there is a new adaptor, so don't get the old one!
Dogs: I am worried about ours. He's 80+ lbs of hot mess, haha. I'm nervous he will not respect the baby's space. DH does not do a good job keeping boundaries... the dog is always all over us and the furniture... it's something we need to work on in the next couple months!
We did our first childbirth class last night. It was lukewarm. The instructor was not a very strong teacher, in our opinion, and I didn't feel like I left with much useful information. But we already paid quite a lot for 6 weeks so we will stick it out!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@eisrael: I know, right? I was THRILLED when I found it earlier this year, because I knew I didn't want to try out a bunch of seats. This way, I could eliminate the ones that wouldn't fit in my car and concentrate on the ones that would. Mind. Blown.
Every car manufacturer should provide a list like this.
ETA: FWIW, the Graco we got is one of the lightest infant seats on the market, weighing in around 8 pounds.
