@evansjamie: His response was totally sarcastic. WFT? Are we supposed to be amused by his faux-contrite BS? Clearly, I'm too hormonal. Sorry for fueling the fire. I hope someone pops him on the head.

@MrsMed: I guess so. I'm so embarrassed. The tomatoes he brought me were good, but I feel like it's just a joke to him. I don't think you're too hormonal. I was so so mad yesterday. Now I feel like a big idiot for complaining.

On the bright side, it has fueled discussion about keeping our fridge clean (it's a nightmare).

***BTW I edited that to get my company name out so Google doesn't pick it up.***

@MrsTiz: It was a little funny, but I'm sure I'll think it's more funny when I'm not being so sensitive. I wasn't planning on broadcasting it to the entire office.

@Evansjamie: I second the starving all the time, which in turn makes me want to eat unhealthy stuff...

With 8 weeks left, I can tell I'm starting to slow way down and somebody commented that it was so cute that I was starting to waddle, wasn't sure how to respond. It feels like this child is sitting on my bladder and squishing my lungs all at the same time. In some positive news, I'm rediscovering how awesome 7-11 slurpees are... they have a sugar free mango lemonade flavor that is fantastic.

@Redmini1: OMG. I am craving a Speedy Freeze (sadly, we don't have 7eleven in this state, unless I travel five hours away close to WV). I told my husband that someone needs to bring me one in the hospital as soon as I pop this kid out. And yes, I second the waddle/lung/bladder squishing that's going on. I had to walk out of a meeting today because I just couldn't hold it any longer.

@Evansjamie: ha! The speedy freeze looks right up my alley (had to google it.) The slurpees are a must because we are having a hot summer here in Seattle, at least hotter than what we are use to for this area.

@evansjamie: um, that is NOT FUNNY. That is rude. Is HR ok with this email?? You have GD and are on a special diet. He was right to replace the food, but this is completely done to make himself look awesome and possibly to make you look bad. I'm so sorry you have to work with him

  8. avivoca

@kjpugs: I haven't talked to HR. Our HR person sent out an email yesterday about not taking or tossing clearly marked food. He's been in meetings all morning.

@evansjamie: Okay, so it's funny, but I am with KJ. He's making himself look awesome/hilarious and you look like a big whiner. He took something that was yours! It was labeled! That's stealing and he shouldn't joke about it on company email.

Does this dude have a wife that has ever been pregnant? My husband would probably think about writing this but NEVER actually do it because he knows what the preggos are like.

@evansjamie: that email from your co-worker is ridiculous! I can't believe he sent that out to everyone. Although I do find it kind of funny/obnoxious. Clearly he doesn't understand pregnancy.

WOMP.... less than fun doctor's visit today. I was previously told (up to I think 20 weeks!) that my weight gain was BEHIND... now at 20lbs gain (per their scale today) I was told to "watch" the weight gain. WOMP. I can't win!!! I am going to blame today's weight on last night's Mexican and weigh myself tomorrow pre-breakfast, after I (hopefully) poop. HAHA. Isn't pregnancy fun?

  12. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: Wow, really? 20 lbs. seems pretty standard for almost 31-32 weeks. I got chastised for losing weight at my last appointment by the nurse, but what do they expect when they limit me to 1800 calories?

BTW, I saw the pics from last night and you all looked gorgeous!

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@evansjamie: thanks! it was SO FUN!!!! Especially meeting their little girls, LOVED being around baby girls They were ADORABLE.

And I agree. I hope I don't keep packing it on but honestly I haven't changed ANYTHING? So I feel like this is how my body is doing it. I'm not going to stress it quite yet. My goal was no more than 30 lbs so we'll see.

@kjpugs: 20 pounds?! Really?! How is that bad? Yikes! I don't go by what the doctor's scale says since I'm always weighed fully clothed, after I've drank and ate, and at different times of the day. I like to weigh myself naked, first thing in the AM after peeing before drinking or eating anything. Much more accurate

  15. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

@kjpugs: I got warned at my 28 week appt to watch the lbs because I put on 9 lbs in 4 weeks but I had a very stressful couple of weeks then we went on vacation to the shore where theres an ice cream stand on practically every corner. Its evened out since and for the last 3 weeks I've plateaued at 21 lbs gained total by my scale count (I weigh once a week before getting in the shower) so i'm not concerned

  16. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: My current office weight is 168, which is 23 pounds up from my BFP weight and 14 pounds up from my first appointment at 10 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Everyone gains differently and it's not really fair to try to make you feel bad because some chart says your weight needs to slow down.

Just chiming in to say that those of you who often have your appointments at different times of day are going to bounce around a lot on the scale. Last time I would always show much more of a gain the days I'd had afternoon appointments and was already hot and swelling a bit. This time I've been trying to keep all my appointments first thing in the morning to get a better baseline. That said, yep, don't stress about it *too* much. They just tend to get nervous when there's a big jump at one appointment because of pre-e concerns, but if your urine is coming back OK, it's probably nothing.

I agree with @Mrs. Yoyo. I have been fortunate enough to have all of my appointments within the same 1 hour window in the mornings. I will admit I do not step on the scale at home anymore and just weight myself at my OB appointments. Like @EVANSJAMIE said, the weight chart is not one size fits all.

My OB would like me to gain 20-25 lbs total because of my petite stature. So far I am on track, but we'll see what happens at my appointment in 2 weeks. I feel like my pumpkin belly has grown into Cinderella's carriage overnight!

We got a spot at our preferred daycare today! I'm so happy and so very glad to have one thing crossed off our list! Tomorrow is our shower, and I think my husband will be able to go with me!

As for today, I'm knocking off early because I don't feel 100%. I'm so tired I could cry and I haven't been productive at all today because I feel so miserable. Baby girl is active though, so feeling her bumps and slides keeps me sane.

What @Mrs. Yoyo said. I had one appointment in the afternoon and they made a big whoop about my weight gain. Keeping them first thing in the AM now!

@kjpugs: Chiming in on the weight gain...I am just about 32 weeks and have gained 24 lbs. (as of 30ish weeks). I actually didn't gain any weight over the last 2 weeks, although my belly is definitely bigger. I commented on this and my midwives didn't seem to care at all. As long as the baby is growing and moving, that's all that matters!

It's been months since I've been on the boards. My life has been filled with work (was full time, now part time at home until baby comes, then SAHM), my other children (1o year olds are exhausting), and general pregnancy ups and downs. Now that things have quieted down, I'm looking forward to some relaxation and prepping for the little one. At our 20 week appointment forever ago, we found out that we're having a boy. Baby Arthur is still on track for coming sometime around October 15th. We also found out that he has a two vessel cord instead of a three vessel cord. So far, this has only required extra ultrasounds to monitor his growth. The doctor is fairly confident that his growth will continue to stay on track and no issues will arise. I'm thankful everything seems okay now, but no parent wants to hear "we detected an abnormality" during an appointment. Anyways, it's good to be back in the loop. I have a ton of catching up to do... For now, I'll update the list.

@TFrances: Hey, welcome back! Congrats on your little boy! I have a friend who's little boy had a two vessel cord as well. He's four years old now and super healthy and active. It is scary when you hear those words, but I just know he will continue to grow and thrive.

    Welcome back, @TFrances: !!

@evansjamie: @Jennimac: so glad you guys had awesome showers!!!! Best feeling EVER!

So I am freaking out because my friend who was 34 weeks had her baby. CUE PANIC. I am going to start freaking out when ladies on this list start having their babies (I assume it will start in September, I mean someone has to be early right?) Crazy to think about. I'm freaking out a little bit!

  34. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@kjpugs: DON'T SAY THAT!!!! In preparation, I'm already washing things. All these August mommies who had July babies are freaking me out enough as it is. I feel like my hospital bag needed to be packed yesterday and my postpartum supplies should already be at my house.

@evansjamie: @kjpugs: I feel the same way! Our furniture came today. I put together our bedding and I'm so disappointed with the crib skirt. I'm thinking of returning it.

  36. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

Let me preface this by saying that I'm so glad my husband got to come home early. He was able to come to our baby shower, and we got some things done yesterday. But I have to work today and he's waiting for a conference call to end to see if he has to go anywhere for the last few days of bat season. When I left, I left him with a to-do list, and he's still laying on the couch. I gave it to him, and he's like, "Yeah, what if I get the call to go?" and I'm just screaming in my head, "YOU CAN DO SOME OF THESE WHILE YOU WAIT!!!!" Things like calling the roofer to make sure we are still scheduled for this week and that they got our check, going to buy freaking stamps, and emptying the dishwasher/running a load of glasses. But no, he's laying on the couch dozing with the dog.

It's not rocket science, and I find myself being irrationally angry about it. I just can't understand what's so hard about taking care of a few things while you are loafing, since I'm at work and it's a heck of a lot harder for me to make non-work calls, especially on days I need to leave early (she says as she sits on Hellobee).

    *facepalm*

@evansjamie: UGH, FEEL YOU. We have a chore chart (to get DH to do his) AND I have a "F**KING DO IT LIST" taped above his computer. And STILL, if I don't hound/remind/henpeck him, nothing gets done. Story of my life.

  40. ladybee

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@kjpugs: @evansjamie: DH is the same way. Lists make him feel overwhelmed (his words) but if there isn't one he'll say "you never told me what to do" or "how am I supposed to know what you want me to do?" The planner in me dreams of a husband who likes a plan.
