Hi October mamas! I've been meaning to post over here and just haven't had a chance! Thank you @Jennimac for posting! It means so much!

My water broke yesterday at 31w3d. Contractions didn't start immediately but eventually got to be between 5-8 minutes apart all day. I didn't feel most of them but they were registering and there were strong ones that I did feel throughout the day. I was on magnesium to stop the contractions and am on antibiotics to ward off any infection. I'm also GBS+. Contractions have been mostly gone today. They stopped the magnesium about 4 hours ago and removed my catheter. I am now out of L&D and in antepartum care. I've only had two contractions in the last 4 hours and they've said it's normal.

The goal is to stay pregnant and make it to 34 weeks. The baby could come earlier but they aren't going to let me go any farther than that. They won't let me try for a vbac and I'm bummed about it but obviously am going to do whatever is best for this baby.

Ill try to update here as much as possible! Gold ladies feel free to share updated info! I went gold in case I decide to post names or pictures in my other thread. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers ladies!

    Keep those babies cookin!!!!!

My friend just had her baby! She was exactly two weeks ahead of me with a little girl! I can't wait to snuggle my baby on the outside. But OMG. It's getting to be that time.

@Sweet T: Glad you and baby are doing well, will be thinking of you. I think I remember from chatting with you on another thread that we had a pretty similar due date (around Halloween). Will be rooting for you guys to get to 34 weeks but glad you've at least gotten a couple more days so far.

@Sweet T: That's a great update! I am glad you aren't upset...I didn't realize the first thread was gold, but I knew you would want the prayers of everyone and we have to keep up to date with our October mommas!!! I'm hoping y'all make it to 34 weeks. It sounds like things are going as well as they can, so I'm really happy about that!

@evansjamie: Oh my goodness! Isn't it crazy how soon that is? I realized last night that she could come at any point from here on out.

I'm pretty sure LO just flipped head down. She was moving around quite painfully yesterday and now my upper stomach is bouncing around with several kicks. ALso, I stopped one of my jobs yesterday due to maternity leave. I sing at two churches on the weekends and yesterday was my last time at the church I sing at in the evenings. They clapped for me and wished me well. I'm glad to slow down a bit, but it's a bit sad for me too since I sang there for 8 years. My other church gave me a little choir reception and I had to give a speech and I cried. I'm going to keep singing there for the next month, but stop once it is October. All these things just keep screaming to me that LO is on her way! So crazy!

    @Jennimac: looking good!

    @evansjamie: so cute!

Can you gals believe we will have baby's in 1-2 months? Despite having 5 nieces and nephews and plenty of friends with baby's I have definitely had OMG moments like how do you actually take care of a baby. Anyone else having similar moments?

  22. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Sadieloo: YES!!! It's been awhile since I've been around babies, since my niece and nephew are 10 and 8. Plus my friend had her baby yesterday, and she was two weeks ahead of me. It's just like, "what do I do?"

  23. singingbee

    pomelo / 5073 posts

@Sadieloo: @evansjamie: my aunt said something I me today about having my baby next month and I was like, "I didn't realize that! Omg!" And almost had a panic attack. In a good way, though. We have a big swing and small one. The small one is pretty much put together because we bought secondhand. The big one plugs in so I'm excited about. This LO likes her movement.

@evansjamie: @Jennimac: Glad I'm not the only one! In reality we could have the baby's any day now, but we'll hopefully all get to 37 weeks. Even so, that's not even two weeks away! I may have start practicing diapering and burping my dog (kidding).

    @Jennimac: you look so great!

@evansjamie: love that swing! Once we finish the nursery (ugh) I will have to get our swing/bouncer set up.

When people due AFTER me start having their kids I'm going to start seriously panicking!

I had my appointment today. They were so nice about me not finding an Indiana Pediatrician, the nurse is going to fax my birth plan to the one in the building, which is a huge load off of my shoulders. I just could not handle researching a second ped.

About the butt swab...totally not awful. I definitely thought they were going to have to use a speculum, but nope. It was over in a minute. I'll find out if I have GBS at my appointment next Tuesday. My glucose for the most part has been great, I just have had a few high ones after dinner this past week. It's been so hot there that I didn't feel like cooking and heating up my house even more (it got up to 75* in my house a few days).

I'm definitely getting uncomfortable these days. I wake up at least five times a night to pee and to turn over. I'm super hot and sweaty, and I think I finally pinpointed the reason. We have one of those waterproof mattress pads on our bed to protect the new mattress, and I bet that's why we are sweating so much. I can't wait to take that thing off once I'm done bleeding after birth.

@evansjamie: on the waterproof pad, yes that thing is insane. It was killing us, we took it off because it was just so hot!

  29. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@jetsa: I'm leaving it on for now because the mattress is brand new and the warranty will be voided if it gets stained. It's so awful though. Maybe I should get piddle pads to sleep on.

  30. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@evansjamie: I don't blame you! my DH made the call on ours. He couldn't handle it and our mattress is old-ish so if we had to replace it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

  31. Sadieloo

    kiwi / 726 posts

@evansjamie: Glad to hear the butt swab wasn't too bad. At this point, I feel like anything semi-uncomfortable or gross is just getting us ready for labor and delivery. Did I mention that I had a 24 hour stomach bug yesterday? Needless to say my pelvic floor muscles did not hold up to the pressure from vomiting -- I could have used some piddle pads -- so ridiculous!

@jetsa: @evansjamie: I agree the waterproof pads are brutally hot! Assuming that the baby will be in bed with us at some point and will pee everywhere (I'm also concerned about my water breaking during the night) it will have to stay. Thank goodness fall is around the corner!

  32. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Sadieloo: The only reason that thing is on the bed is because I'm concerned about my water breaking in bed and also about postpartum bleeding. Once that's over, I could care less. I can't wait for fall! It's cooler here today (the high is in the low 80's), and our nights are going to be cooler as well, so I'll just hang on to the sheet as my only blanket.

  33. Sadieloo

    kiwi / 726 posts

@evansjamie: Same here! I do think we've been fortunate that the summer hasn't been super hot. How's your nursery coming along? I need to take pics of ours and get feedback. I think the only big thing I still want to get is some type of recliner/glider. They are just so expensive!!!

  34. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Sadieloo: It's coming along well now! Still a mess, but it will be until she gets here I guess. I got a new side table for the glider at HomeGoods for half off because the sides were dinged. I need to hang some more stuff on the walls but it's hard when people keep telling me not to stand on chairs. I'm hoping to get it completely done in the next few weeks. How is yours coming?

I've got a day care conundrum.... We have two spots to chose from and both have pros and cons. Both spots are clean, secure, friendly and cheerful. The kids seemed happy and the teachers seemed in control of the rooms. They are both agreeable to our parenting styles (ie cloth diapers, BLW, etc).

Option A: is about 15 minutes from our house and on my route to work. My niece currently goes there and has since 6 mos old and loves it. if there was an emergency my SIL, BIL, MIL could do pick ups. I've been on the waiting list since Feb.

Option B: is about 12 minutes from work (about 45 minutes from home) and is past the office. It seems like great facility and is about $20/week less than option A. They have one spot available for Jan and we need a $60 deposit to lock it in.

What would you do? If option B should i be concerned with all the time in the car?

  36. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Chillybear: Which would be a better fit if the baby gets sick during the day and you need to pick up? Would the people available to pick-up at Daycare A also be able to take her to the doctor if she needs it? And with traffic, would you have a hard time picking up before daycare closes if you went with the one closer to home?

  37. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

@evansjamie: If she's sick during the day i'm torn on one hand i'd want to be there immediately (option B) on the other if she's a miserable throwing up mess that could make for a very crappy car ride. I'll be using the same pediatrician as my SIL uses so i guess she could but i dont know if the DR office allows that. for emergency pick ups i'm thinking more on the lines of i get stuck at work with a deadline someone else could pick her up. On a normal day pick up and drop off would be a non issue at either place. She would spending an hour more a day in the daycare at option A or an extra hour in the car for option B.

  38. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Chillybear: I'd probably go with the one closer to home, since you have people that could pick-up if needed and you have personal recommendations there and know someone who has a child there and they love it.

  39. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

@evansjamie: thats my gut instinct as well, I'm just getting nervous that we wont be off the waiting list before i go back to work. SIL had to find other coverage for 3 months before she got her spot last year. The fact that option B is a little cheaper and that i might be able to work out going to nurse during my lunch break is a plus too

  40. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Chillybear: Oh, I thought you already had a spot at Daycare A! In that case, I would pay the $60 to secure a spot at the one close to your job and if a spot opens up at Daycare A, take it if that's your gut instinct. You can always switch later if Daycare B isn't a good fit.
