@EVANSJAMIE: Ahh...I suppose the smoking jacket would really only work when she's visiting or you're meeting somewhere neutral. When you're on her turf that'd be a whole other story... so sorry you have to deal with this!!!

@daniellemybelle: My mom hosts thanksgiving at her house, We'll go and i imagine it will be one of her more full house dinners since "the baby" will be there. We're planning to do the christening the sunday following thanksgiving. As for Christmas, Luckily all of our family is local. Christmas eve is at my aunts house about 30 minutes away and christmas day we do brunch at my parents house and dinner at my inlaws.

@daniellemybelle and @chillybear: I may be absolutely crazy, but I'm planning on traveling home for Christmas. We have an unusual situation. My twins live with their father during the school year and I have custody during breaks and summer. They live in Indiana, I live in California. For Thanksgiving, the twins are staying with my mom in Indiana while i rest in California. Christmas is the only time I would get to see both my family and my twins, so I feel like I have to go home. And to top it all off, the DH will not be going with me and baby. So, I'm going to fly across the country with a 2 month old by myself and spend 3 weeks with my twins and my family. I am be absolutely crazy, but it's the only option...

@daniellemybelle: you might ask your doctor, I mentioned traveling home for Thanksgiving to mine and she highly advised against traveling far or by plane at all with a child that young

@kjpugs: That's a good idea... We'll probably ask our pediatrician. The key word is "try"... I just know that if we say outright we aren't coming for either holiday, it won't be a good situation. Even though she will be older at Christmas, it will be the middle of winter in Chicago. Plus, I want to have Christmas at home!

@daniellemybelle: All you have to say is due to the weather and amount of travel your pediatrician said no travel until earlier 2014. Done. They can't get mad at you. I REALLY wanted to go to NJ in November and my OB just basically said absolutely not. I cried. But then my mom was like, yeah, I thought you were crazy to even attempt that. My family is not the type to be nasty to me about it at ALL, but if they were (or if it was DH's family) it's just a shrug and get over it situation. All that matters is the health, safety, and comfort of you and LO!!

Butt update: It's a pilondial cyst like I thought. They said it's already draining (eww sorry) so they aren't going to lance it. I just got antibiotics and they gave me Tylenol with codeine if I really need it. I'm pretty upset that I'm probably going to still be in excruciating pain for my shower but at least I know what's wrong.
@Redmini1: I am nervous this is going to be a chronic thing that requires surgery. I read some pretty scary stuff online. Did you have multiple recurrences before you had yours surgically removed?

Oh and our holidays... because I couldn't go to NJ for Thanksgiving, my MIL and some of DH's siblings are coming down for the week. I'm very stressed that I might be going back to work that week, but hopefully because they're all there together- and NOT staying here!!!!!- they can entertain themselves when not visiting. We're doing a big thanksgiving dinner (casual) at our house too.
Christmas I got lucky, my mom was going to fly to Armenia to see my youngest sister but the weather at her site that time of year, it's not advised to travel. So she's going for Easter instead. My other sister can't leave Utah ($$/PTO) for Christmas so we won (haha) and my mom is flying to Orlando to spend Christmas with us!! Since DH has to work holidays if he's scheduled (he usually is) it's nice to have family around.

@daniellemybelle: Good to hear that it's already draining! Hopefully the Tylenol will help dial back the pain to a manageable level.

@Chillybear: way to go co-worker! I really like that glider but it is super expensive!
@daniellemybelle: I think we will stay put for Thanksgiving (which has been our tradition for a few years because DH usually works the friday after) and head to my family (likely with my MIL) for Christmas. Glad they figured out that it is a cyst and that it is draining. I hope you feel better soon. You could always pop a Tylenol, right?
@kjpugs: come to NJ, we'll likely be here.

@daniellemybelle: that's good that's it's already draining. Mine had to be lanced so they drained and packed it pretty well so I didn't have any reoccurrences. I had the surgery 6 months later because I was told it would more than likely come back. I had to wait until I came home for the summer and didn't want to chance having it return when I was at school.
ETA: surgery was really quick, recovery sucked just because of the sensitivity of the area and it made sitting uncomfortable. No thongs!

SO we've had/are having an eventful night. We went to a newborn care class, which was lots of fun--DH changed a diaper and swaddled at baby doll. I stood up to go to the bathroom and my pants, seat, everything was wet. I didn't know if my water broke or if I peed myself. We left and came back to town where our hospital is. I just peed myself, but my blood pressure has been high so they won't let me leave just yet. So, I'm hooked up to monitors and DH is chilling.

@Jennimac: oh my gosh! I hope everything is ok and your blood pressure comes down.

@Redmini1: thanks! Finally home! My bp was all over the place, but it finally came down so we got to leave. I just ate some apple jacks and I'm going to go to bed. It was definitely scary, but glad everything turned out okay.

@jennimac: glad to hear your home... Btw love apple jacks, just finished a box last week. Kids cereals seem to be my weakness right now.

@daniellemybelle: oh my gosh! So glad you know what it is and that it's draining- hopefully when it drains you'll have some relief. So sorry you have to go thru this at shower time!!!
@Jennimac: SCARY!!! "You know you're pregnant when... you're not sure if you peed yourself or not" lol! So glad it was just pee and that you're home now.
@Sadieloo: I won't be in NJ this year but I am totally letting you know when I head up there next year!!

@Jennimac: Wow - that is quite an eventful evening! So glad your blood pressure is back to normal and you are home. Keep that baby cooking!
@kjpugs: Awesome! Def keep me posted!

We got our BOB last night! It's crazy how drivers act when they see you with a stroller while walking your dog as opposed to when it's just you walking your dog. Everyone slowed down and swerved around us, where usually they just keep speeding by and we have to dive into the grass. I wonder what they were thinking when they got up close and saw that I was walking my purse in it!
The guy we are buying our BOB from is also selling us his wife's used Ameda pump. I don't know if you saw my other thread, but the Bees came through and convinced me to not be skeeved out by a used pump. I'm going to buy new parts for it and use it while I'm waiting for my insurance to send me my free pump (I can't order that until the baby is born).
I hope everyone has a great Friday! As for me, as soon as I test my glucose, I'm going to be downing a Coke to help me get through the morning. I'm so, so sleepy since I woke up a lot last night and couldn't get back to sleep.

@evansjamie: Yay! So excited you got the stroller you wanted! We need to start doing that too - walking with the stroller and pooch. Right now I am more concerned about the dog than cars. I am pretty sure she thinks strollers are snack machines and am not sure how she'll take to walking with it.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: Bea did surprisingly well! She basically ignored it, as she was on a mission to go #2. Even after that, she didn't mind it. The cats are very interested in it. I have to find a spot to keep it because it's a behemoth (or, as the guy we bought it from says, it's a 'beast of burden').
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Lol. That's great! I'm going to add dog/stroller walks to our weekend 'to do' list. All strollers really are cumbersome. Fortunately we have a mud porch of sorts that will house all of that and our other junk. I also need to practice opening and closing all those things and install the car seat. We're just about 4 weeks from our DD. I still can't believe it. Next week we will be full term. When did that happen?!?!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: It seems like it was just yesterday that I was staring at a positive pregnancy test, and now these babies could come at any time! I think we're going to keep the stroller in the garage for now, but it's spidery and I may try to find another place for it.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Seriously. Although I do feel like I've been pregnant for a hundred years. The garage is currently housing all the swings, jump-a-roo, and whatever all that other baby stuff is and collecting cobwebs. We are really lucky and got a ton of hand me downs from my sister.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: Our garage is the land of bicycles (4), random things from my husband's job, tools, paint, and our old bed/mattress/box spring. I'm okay with the spiders out there because that means I don't see any bigger, nastier bugs. We're going to work on getting it cleaned up so we can actually park in there. The Farmer's Almanac is predicting that we have a bitter cold, snowy winter this year.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Very good point! I guess I should start embracing all the spiders that are in our house. Funny I was just talking to someone today about the Farmer's Almanac and the winter being a bad one. It's currently 70 degrees here in Jersey. Highly unusual for this time of year. I should probably stock up on some of those bundle me things for babies.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: Yeah, I'm a bit worried about it. We drive a Versa. The last time we had a bad winter, we were driving a 4WD Jeep. I'm anxious to see how my 2WD Versa can handle snow/ice. I've got some of those fleece suits and plenty of blankets to wrap around the carseat.

@evansjamie: @Sadieloo: oh my goodness. I just thought about what it will be like to attempt to walk 3 pugs and a stroller haha! Those walks will probably be short OR with DH
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: I am constantly impressed by how well prepared you are! We are having a baby shower on Sunday and after that, I am going to do some serious shopping to fill in the gaps.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: Sounds like it might be a good time! Have they seemed interested in the stroller? We test-drove it last night with Bea and she didn't seem to be bothered by it, so maybe the pugs won't be bothered by yours.

@Sadieloo: I wouldn't say it was prepared, more like my friend gave me a couple that she was given for her son but couldn't use because it was summer when he hit that size. BUT...I did buy the sweetest pink Owl fleece suit with a hood at Target the other day. I swear, these baby items just end up in my cart and I have no idea how they get there.

Updated to reflect my next appt... going WEEKLY now! I LOOOOOVED the doctor I saw today. He went to a university that I work with a lot, and since they send out bios, I knew that... i think maybe I looked a little stalker-ish being like "YOU WENT TO ____ RIGHT?" lol. He delivers on Wednesday, as does my other favorite OB, so baby girl BETTER come on a Wednesday!!!!!
Anyone else NOT excited that next Friday is Friday the 13th!?!?! Spooky! Not in love with having my appointment that day, hopefully she stays cooking!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: I'm excited because it's our music event at work. But yes, baby girl had better stay cooking that day. I am not ready to go into labor just yet.
ETA: My friend who had her baby last week? I thought she delivered on Saturday night? Nope. She was at Bob Evans eating breakfast on Sunday morning, started having contractions, got to the hospital at 10:00 that morning dilated to a freaking TEN, and had her baby by 10:41 that morning. OMG.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: LOL, I'm more worried about having enough hands to steer the stroller and pugs!! They are so easy going with the baby stuff, juggling is more my issue
kiwi / 726 posts
@kjpugs: Did you every figure out your frontyard/backyard situation and how you're going to get the dogs out when it's dark? Three dogs is a lot and I would love to see that. I only have the one dog, but she is 80 lbs and could definitely be better on the leash.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: I'm worried about the hands issue, especially if Bea sees another dog. She is a puller, and she weighs 60 pounds.
