@Sadieloo: I'm going to make sure to take them out before dark and then either take her out with me and the pugs in a carrier, or if she's sleeping, just take them to the front yard with my monitor. They don't do a WALK, more like a quick pee, so it should be doable! If I'm not feeling comfortable I will just tell DH to take them out (late) when he gets home. I'm trying not to stress it too much! WORST case I can park baby girl in front of the glass door in a swing/bouncer and take them out back on the leash (so I can still see her thru the door) one at a time with a flashlight!

@evansjamie: OMG that is a quick labor! I plan on 24hrs+, because you can plan these things, right?
kiwi / 726 posts
@kjpugs: Very good points. I anticipate a symphony of dog whining and baby crying at some point.

@Sadieloo: Right? My coworker was telling me about it and I'm like "I don't need to hear about this" because I live 15-20 minutes from the hospital and at that rate I should probably just home birth.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Seriously. We are ~30 min from the hospital we are delivering at. Are you having a crazy Friday night like me on the couch? My how times have changed!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: Yep, crazy wild night sitting in the recliner! I moved some stuff out of the baby's room earlier. And talked to both my mom and mil and both told me to pack my bags. My husband was born at 37 weeks and I was born at 41. We are installing our car seat base tomorrow after we vacuum the car out. So tonight is all about rest.

Hi ladies! Hope all of you are doing well!
Just wanted to post a quick update. Baby and I are still doing well. I've had some pink and then red fluid when leaking but have been hold it's normal. I've had some contractions over the last couple of days but nothing regular. We're just keeping an eye on everything and taking it a day at a time. I'm having a rough day (or two) mentally and emotionally but baby is a champ!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sweet T: Hey! Glad to hear that both of you are doing well! Can you get mail at the hospital? If so, I'd love to send you something if you are open to it.
pomelo / 5321 posts
@evansjamie: hi! You're so sweet! I'm not sure but I can ask my nurse next time I see her. (:
pomelo / 5073 posts
@Sweet T: glad to hear everything is going as well as can be expected!!! Keep cooking baby sweet T!
I'm up at 2:30 am on the couch. I've been napping all night, but waking up every couple of hours. Now I'm up for good, it seems.
@evansjamie: I installed our car seat and got it checked out. Install was great! I don't have the car seat in there right now because we have a graco and they have to be replaced after any accident. I told DH I was worried I'd have a wreck before the baby got here and not be able to use the seat.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Jennimac: Yeah, all I want to do is make sure it's okay, then we can just cruise around with the base until we need the seat. We have a Graco too.
pomelo / 5073 posts
@evansjamie: my car seat was super awesome. I found her on car seats .org and she was a nurse at the hospital. We actually had her when we delivered our first LO. She said I did a perfect job and I was like, " well that's the teacher and the OCD in me."
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Jennimac: Thanks for the link! I need to find a tech to make sure we did it right.
In other news, either my allergies are really acting up or I've caught a cold from someone. This drainage/caughing is making it hard to sleep and my throat is sore. At least I don't have a fever, but I'm laying low just in case because I don't want it to turn into anything worse. My BFF had the flu at this point in her pregnancy and I would rather not experience the flu again.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@evansjamie: same. my OB said it's allergies and to take Benadryl or Claritin.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@ladybee: I will definitely be taking some tonight. When I'm not pregnant, even the non-drowsy formula puts me to sleep, so I don't take it until I'm ready for bed.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@evansjamie: I must admit I've been taking Benadryl at night and I'm sleeping so well (minus the bathroom breaks)

Guys, I could just cry. I am back to work and handling it very well I think. I have minor sweating and I'm doing everything I can to get ready for maternity leave. The first week back was hot but last week wasn't bad. I just looked at the 10 day and I don't think I can control my emotions. Really? A high of 90?
pomelo / 5073 posts
@ladybee: I know!!! Our highs are tipping out at 99, with heat indexes over 100. I don't know what I'm going to do.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@Jennimac: I'm guessing you guys don't have air either? We've closed because of the cold before, I think we should also get the chance to close for heat. I think I'm taking Tuesday and Wednesday morning off so I only have to be in my classroom from 1:10-3:45. Since I'm special education I have education plans to write (4 expire on maternity leave). We get two writing days and I think I'll use one for this week and get them started. Our library is air conditioned so I'll write in there till 1:10. Not the ideal situation but I don't feel like I have another choice.
pomelo / 5073 posts
@ladybee: we are lucky enough to have air. I wouldn't be able to be there if there wasn't air. You poor thing!!!!! I freeze my poor kids out, but it's so miserable when we walk out to lunch and car pick up. I have to bring water with me or else I wouldn't be able to stand it.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@Jennimac: The more I think about it the more annoyed I become. Shouldn't the district care about my well being? Our main office and our library have air. I don't have the sick time to take a day just because of heat or it'll mess up my maternity leave. At least I have SpEd writing days I can use and sit in the library and write.
pomelo / 5073 posts
@ladybee: I would definitely be annoyed. There is no way if be able to teach. That's ridiculous!!!
kiwi / 726 posts
@Jennimac: @ladybee: Stay cool, ladies! I can't believe it is so hot where you are and that your schools aren't more supportive. I mean, isn't a prego lady fainting or something a huge liability?
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: My nights recently have been really wild and crazy, let me tell you. I'm also thinking I should pack my bags. Both my sister and DH think I'm going to go early, especially if I keep up my current activity level. Maybe we should work on the car seat first
watermelon / 14467 posts
@ladybee: I think it's ridiculous that you only have air in the office and library. Can you have a fan in your classroom? When I worked in an inairconditioned kitchen, the only thing that helped me get through the day was the big fan blowing directly on me.
@Sadieloo: I've mostly got the baby bag packed, but now I need to work on mine! Some of the stuff I'm using now, but I might buy a couple of spare toothbrushes/toothpaste to just have and a travel pack of face wipes. I need to go to the running store and stock up on GU chomps for labor. They say you can't eat...I'd like to see them try and stop me if I need it. I've done half marathons on Chomps and water, so I'm going to have some for labor. I also need to get the snacks for my husband too. Ahhh it's so close!

Oh man. Today, at 36 weeks, 3 days, I just feel DONE. I'm ready to have this baby. I was up for probably 3 hours in the middle of the night because I couldn't breathe, it was so hot in my house that I was plastered to the sheets, and my allergies are still killing me, so my throat is so sore. I hope it gets better, and I'm hoping my boss will take pity on me and not make me stay late tonight for our event.
Sigh. 3.5 weeks left until maternity leave.

Hey everyone! I'm actually thrilled with our progress the last few days, despite the fact that my pelvis feels as thought it has completely split in half. I have a lot of stuff for our bags packed (the rest are things I can't pack in advance but I'm getting them ready with a list of what needs to be grabbed and packed quickly.) I sorted all baby clothes and washed the NB size ones (since 90% are second hand, it's not like I can return them.) ***PSA: Oxy Clean stain stick works WONDERS. Amazing seriously.**** Also packed a towel in a trash bag in the car (in case my water has broken when we drive to the hospital) and put my boppy and MBF pillows in the trunk. DH has off Tues, Wed, and Thurs so baby's dresser can get painted. Then the room can FINALLY get set up! GAHH finally. Luckily our bedroom is set up- PNP, glider, portable changing table. So baby will have a place to sleep safely Feeling a lot better, will feel WAY better when we get the carseats installed!!!!

My parents and inlaws threw me a surprise shower yesterday. I am so overwhelmed with the sheer amount of generosity and love for this baby. Seriously she's spoiled rotten and she's not even here yet. I am so proud of my mom and her creativity. I majored in fashion design and work as a designer and pattern maker and sew in my spare time, so with that the theme was "cute as a button" My mom went on pinterest and found all these cute little crafts for decorations and a poem for the invites. She worked so hard. There were so many people and we got so many fun, thoughtful, and necessary gifts. I truly was blown away. It was a great day and bonus was all the delicious leftovers we took home.

@evansjamie: oh no, I'm sorry you feel so cruddy. Have you tried calling your OB? Maybe it's not allergies after all? I'm only 33w6d and I am dreading the point of feeling done. I so desperately want to make it to 41 weeks.
@kjpugs: I'm glad you're starting to feel prepared. I haven't started packing a bag yet. How far along are you? We don't go to our child birth class till the 28th which is 36 weeks for me which makes me super anxious but it is what it is. Our infant CPR is sooner and out baby basics is after. I'm trying to stay calm but we are getting closer and closer! I can't wait to see your dresser!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: Oh, that's so good to hear! I know you were stressing out about that. We cleaned and vacuumed our car last night and are hoping to get the car seat installed tonight.
@Chillybear: How sweet! That sounds just darling!
@ladybee: I haven't called the midwife yet. I have an appointment tomorrow morning and I'm going to bring it up then. I don't have a fever and baby girl is still moving around well. I'm just staying hydrated, but if I start to feel worse, I'll give them a call at lunch.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@ladybee: LOL the dresser is just going to be light yellow- nothing too fancy! I am glad you said taht I need to find an infant CPR class, I didn't see that the hospital has one. DH and I can't fit in any childbirth classes with our opposite schedules sadly. BUT luckily later this month he's doing a "daddy bootcamp" class which is great because I really think he needs it! No Hellobee for him to help haha. Oh and I'm 35 weeks today!
pomegranate / 3032 posts
@kjpugs: For the infant CPR class check your local BRU - ours had quite a few classes that were fairly inexpensive and i think one of them was infant first aid/CPR.
As for my hospital bag, I have a pile of stuff on our spare bed started but i still have a lot of gathering to do. But i made a list!

@evansjamie: I had pretty good luck with Tylenol Sinus when i got a head cold in May. It dried me right up and i was able to sleep better.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Chillybear: We may be going to the store tonight for some of that. Does it come in the PM formula? Is Tylenol PM pregnancy safe? I'm gonna call the midwife at lunch and see, because this is ridiculous. I feel like a train hit me between the sinus issues and the tiredness.
pomegranate / 3032 posts
@evansjamie: it does come in a pm option and they even make a mixed box of day and night, but i'm not positive it the pm is pregnancy safe i only used the day one but it didnt keep me up at night.
pear / 1837 posts
@evansjamie: My OB says I can take Unisom, Benadryl, or Tylenol PM at will to help with sleep, so I'm interpreting that as tylenol pm being safe for pregnancy!

Question for those who have older kids: Will they come visit you in the hospital? My parents live about 40 minutes away, and so once labor begins with #2, they'll take over care of my older LO (age 2.5) and probably just keep him at their house (which is normal for him, he sleeps over there fairly regularly) while I'm in the hospital so that DH can stay with me and baby.
I know it's the norm to bring the older child to see everyone in the hospital, but I'm wondering whether it'll be more traumatic for LO to have to see us in this weird setting, and then have to leave with his grandparents while DH and I stay there with "new baby." (He adores his grandparents, so usually has zero issue leaving DH and I to go hang out with them, but I wonder if he'll be clingier- or potentially jealous- in this setting). I know my mom will probably want to come see the new one at the hospital, but I'm wondering if it's worth suggesting that they hold off and that we introduce LO #1 to his little brother a day or two later once we're home. Any thoughts?

@ladybee: @Lozza: @Chillybear: Calling the midwife now. My boss also said I can take tonight off! I'm so, so happy and it will make getting through the afternoon so much better!
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Good idea with the GU chomps! Fortunately our hospital allows eating and drinking. Even if they didn't, like you, I will do whatever I need to do to stay healthy and maintain energy. Sorry you aren't feeling well and hang in there! Glad your boss is giving you the night off. Have you tried a netti pot (spelling)? I've found those to be really helpful with sinus issues. Acupuncture has also worked wonders for me.
@kjpugs: Yay! So happy things are coming together for you. I have finally (at least for now) told myself that we need to get a handful of things finished up and then stop for the time being. Baby boy could be here any day now!
@Chillybear: That's awesome and so sweet of your family! I have felt the same way. I can't believe and have been so touched at the outpouring of love and support from so many family and friends. It's been especially nice since my family lives 4 hours away and I am definitely missing having my Mom and Sister close.
@ladybee: Just wanted to let you know that I am 36 w 1 d and haven't packed any bags nor taken a childbirth class (it's on Saturday). That said, we have a doula so worst comes to worst, I figure she'll walk us through everything. Also, I'm still feeling pretty good but have had some crappy days too. As long as we make it to 37 weeks, I'll be a happy camper
So I had my 36 week appt. this AM and everything is great thus far (pending Group B strep test that really wasn't bad at all). My midwife told me to start eating pineapple daily (yum) and taking 2 doses of 500 mg of primrose oil to get my uterus primed for labor and deliver. I still can't believe it!
