@jetsa: Um, that's insane. I'll run a half on one pack of Chomps, but that's because I get two servings out of it. I take a serving every hour.

@Chillybear: I think the SwaddleMe ones were the ones we ended up liking best. I remember hating the Miracle Blanket because it was a pain in the butt and didn't work well for us
For pacifiers, our lactation consultant told us to go with Nuk brand (for pacifiers and for bottle-nipples) because the shape most closely mimicked a boob and might reduce nipple confusion, but I think that's a stretch. Per her recommendation, we also didn't introduce pacifiers till 5 weeks or so. We've had friends use all different kinds (I think Soothies are the ones we got from the hospital, so a lot of friends just stuck with those). We honestly never really tried another brand- LO always loved the Nuk ones. I think it doesn't really matter what you start out with- I'd say introduce one kind, and if it works, go with it, if not, try something else. My main suggestion re: pacifiers is to use tethers

Aww, I just got an invitation to a baby shower for me at work! They are holding it on September 27 though, so fingers crossed that this little girl doesn't make her entrance before then!
pomegranate / 3032 posts
@Lozza: I'm not sure i know what you mean about the teethers? what do you recommend? like the baby chew toys (sophie?)
pear / 1837 posts
@Chillybear: I'm actually referring to pacifier tethers, like these:
http://www.amazon.com/BooginHead-PG-OT-PaciGrip-Orange-Tie/dp/B008ESOI9O/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1379008238&sr=1-1&keywords=pacifier+tether
They're just clips that attach to both the pacifier and something else, usually some piece of baby's clothing. It means if your kid spits out a pacifier, it doesn't go flying onto the floor, or get lodged underneath them in the carseat, or fall into the crack between the changing table and the wall never to be seen again. For us, it meant that we could keep track of pacifiers way better, didn't have to clean them as often and didn't have to buy new ones as often, and when LO got older he could find it to put it back in his own mouth!

@Lozza: Thanks for the tip! I think we definitely need some of those.
@evansjamie: that's so sweet that your office is throwing you a baby shower.
@Chillybear: I'm with you. I was just on a conference call and my colleagues were all like...yeah...we aren't following you. And to think I felt like I slept well last night!

@Chillybear: @evansjamie: I forgot how old I was yesterday. I told someone I was 34. I'm 31. No idea where that came from.

@Lozza: I almost cried coming into work this morning because of something my husband said. Normally it doesn't bother me. I can't wait to not be a hormonal mess.

@evansjamie: I've been WAY better this pregnancy, but with my older LO I was a total crazy person and took it out on DH all the time. Between that and the fact that I was a nauseated insomniac third trimester and so my OB put me on Ambien but I was still puking and I'd wake up in the middle of the night, head in the bathroom, puke anywhere I was facing and then promptly go back to sleep without realizing what was happening leaving DH to clean up, I am sometimes surprised that DH has remained married to me.

Ummm freaking out a little... Baby is full term as of today. I don't feel prepared at all. We have what we need to bring this child home but mentally with all the stuff at work to close out and getting the house completely in order... not ready!!

@evansjamie: @Lozza: I'm a crazy person who cries at everything right now. DH is (I think) getting rather sick of it!
We went out at lunch and got the last "essentials" including our video baby monitor! So now I think we have EVERYTHING we need for right when she's home, and then other things we'll have to pick up along the way, like more bottles if needed, or teethers, etc.
Also I feel like my pelvis is going to break in half. I'm honestly HOPING they check me tomorrow. I cannot even begin to fathom how I am in this much pain. DH just went grocery shopping alone because I couldn't handle walking around the grocery!!!

@daniellemybelle: we were at BBB today and checked and since Graco didn't make a waterproof PNP mattress pad, I'm thinking maybe it's not a huge thing? You may be right... we did get these little things that go on the crib to protect them: http://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/bb-basics-sheet-saver/115336?skuId=15893532®istryId=13435918 so I figure I use them and then can just see!

@evansjamie: yay!!! We had one yesterday at work. It's so fun and exciting.
@jetsa: and @mrsTiz: I got two nursing tanks and 1 nursing/sleep bra. I was p,an inky on waiting to get regular nursing bras until my milk came in. Right now I'm a 42 DDD, so I know that my boobs will be bigger than that. Question is, how much bigger.
I got some toiletries and I'm going to start packing my hospital bag so exciting!!!

Ugh. I lost an entire bottle of test strips, and I can't get more until the pharmacy opens tomorrow. BOO.

@Jennimac: I started packing my bag tonight too!!! It made me feel better about her possibly coming early.

I just found out that my friends have a shower planned for Sept. 29th. Hoping that I am still well by then. I have very uncomfortable with insomnia, pelvic pressure, indigestion, and nausea. The nausea is getting so bad, it's almost like my first trimester all over again. Ugh! On a happier note, both the crib and travel system arrived this week. DH put together the travel system, but is waiting until this weekend to do the crib. Once those are done, I will feel so much better about being prepared for the little one.

Somehow my appt today got omitted from the list (no use adding it since it's in a few hours!) I'm glad because I almost hope they check me... the pelvic PAIN/pressure I feel 24/7 is too much. I couldn't even grocery shop yesterday (and had DH go for me... and forgot to list my breakfast items... so I am starved now!) Also, a little sad to be up 30.8 lbs I was hoping to keep it under 30. Granted, 4 weeks (or less) left but still! Not the best but at least I know it could be worse.
Also our carseat made me cry yesterday. Anyone else feel like it was impossible to get the B-Safe base in tight enough? And then I was using the stroller buttons to try to remove the carseat (the CAR button is on the back) and I just cried and made DH figure it out. I'm just done.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: I'm exhausted. I slept last night, but with constant wake-ups, it's just not enough. I'm mad because I'm pretty sure I threw an entire box of test strips away in the recycling this week and I have to go out and get more (my insurance won't cover it, so it will be about $100 to replace those 50 strips). And I'm working 12 hours today.
Pity party for one.
But, on the plus side, I'm full term today! We got our car seat base installed, the Boppy is in the car, and I'm placed a towel and garbage bag in the trunk just in case my water breaks.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: My husband got so mad at me when we installed ours because I made him kneel on the base and wrestle with it to get it tight enough. I'm sorry yours was giving you trouble! Think about the cuteness of your baby girl in her Kiwi seat instead.

Had my 36 week appt last night. Everything is on track and had the GBS test done will find out results on tuesday. Doc is pretty confident she's staying put for at least 2 more weeks and i'll have an official internal exam next week. So hubs is really uncomfortable going to appts where i have to get internals done. I think he needs to come to the last few appts and should just suck it up if he's this weirded out at the appt whats it going to be like in the delivery room when 7 different people have their hands all up in my whoo-ha. Fun things going on in my brain.... debating whether or not to buy a mattress pad for our bed, registry completion and what we still need to buy.
Added my last few appts that i scheduled for October!!!

Also, need all your thoughts on this one..... I got home from my appt last night (i went by myself) and my inlaws were at our house. They dropped by to see the nursery before heading to the shore for the weekend. My MIL just got back from the shore with her girlfriends (when she goes with them they pretty much go town to town and "window" shop). Any way she brought us a gift that she thought "would just go perfect in the bar". I walked in and it was sitting on my coffee table. At first i made a few jokes about it, but the more i think about it the more uncomfortable and weirded out i get. it just seems so inappropriate. I think its going to have to go live at my BIL's house for awhile. Seems like bad juju to me to have in the house until she's safely here. Thoughts?

@Chillybear: omg that would be at goodwill today if I were you! Ick!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Chillybear: That's creepy. I would not want that hanging around at my house. I agree, your hubs needs to suck it up and come to the last few appointments with you, internal exams or not. You never know if you'll have to go straight to the hospital for something, and it's better if he's there with you.
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
@Chillybear: my water broke in bed and I flew off that thing so fast that there was no damage I think you'd be ok putting down a towel or two if you're worried.
pomegranate / 3032 posts
@Mrs. Yoyo: I'm a sweaty sleeper to begin with I'm thinking a plastic cover would just make it worse.... we could use a new mattress pad anyway maybe i'll just put some towels between that and the mattress and pick up a new pad for after all the messiness is done.

@mrs. mochi: I hear you! Doesn't help that DH's alarm goes off at 5:20 and then again every 15 minutes and I've been getting up with him.
@kjpugs: I may have copied an old list and/or accidentally deleted your appt. Sorry about that! I hope you can get some comfort soon. Maybe get in a pool somewhere or take a bath? And in the least get yourself something good to eat. Let us know how your doc appt. goes! That pic with Dixie is too cute! We have yet to put our car seat in the car, that's a project for this weekend.
@evansjamie: Oh man! That's a rough start to a Friday. At least it is Friday. I can't believe the test strips are so expensive. That's crazy! I also can't believe you have to work a 12 hour day. That is just messed up. And congrats on being full term!!! If we are counting from my last menstrual period, I would also be FT, but we've been counting from our conception date, so two more days to go!
@Chillybear: Glad to hear all is well with your appts. Men are so funny. My hubs read a birthing story from one of my books (the one I considered to be more tame/uneventful) and was like 'that's disgusting.' Not sure what he's expecting but I think we're all in for a bit of a surprise. That thing is creepy! I would definitely be hiding it in our basement.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: They gave me a OneTouch meter, and the strips for the OneTouch are insanely expensive. I need a box of 50 to get me through until my insurance will refill my prescription. I'm pretty peeved about it.
We're all in the home stretch now!
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: seriously! That is really just ridiculous. It's just fancy paper, no?
Home stretch is right! Speaking of stretching, I can definitely tell my ligaments are joints are stretching. Lots of popping and cracking and the ligaments in my groin have never been so loose. Sorry if TMI!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: Yes, it's fancy paper. My husband keeps telling me to use his, but I hate doing that because he wipes blood on the carrying case and it gets on the meter and I can't read it very well. So I'll buy strips for my own meter, thankyouverymuch. I feel like a diva about it, but I find it gross.
I popped my back when I sneezed the other day. Also, I was laying weird on the couch and could not straighten up without pain. My husband thought I was having a contraction. I'm like, "No, no contraction. I just can't straighten up until my side cramp goes away." At least all this stretching is gearing us up for labor!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
Shockingly, doctor #2 to say my pain is normal. I guess some people just have it worse than others. Lucky me!!! I'm not dialated which comes as a shock to me because the pressure feels like she's halfway out. Yippee.
I liked the doctor today, her middle name is the same as mine, Jeanne. She's #3 of four generations with that middle name. It's my mom's name and my middle, and will be baby girl's middle. (Pronounced Jean.) I thought that was so cool!
Found out the latest they will let me go is 41 1/2 weeks. She's also saying no traveling more than an hour starting in a week (which is good- I do have to travel for work occasionally.) Found out how their hospital schedule works a bit more... they have someone 8a-5p and someone 5p-8a every day, and then they do not have to work the next day, so if you go, the doctor can stay with you past their "shift." She said they're all lazy and prefer vaginal deliveries to surgeries so they like to stay the course with you Loved that she was joking around. She also said the record for # of trips to the hospital thinking they're in labor was 29 (none of which were actual labor.) We talked about reasons to go to the hospital, etc, and what to look for with contractions.
Also got the fun butt swab. Waiting to find out about the results.
Interested to see how the next month plays out!!!!!!!!

@evansjamie: I can't believe the strips cost that much I'm so sorry you have to deal with that! I hate it when something happens that you feel like is flushing money down the drain!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: I'm sorry you are in so much pain! And it's cool that they will let you go that late! There are so many practices here that are eager to set an induction date for right after your due date. I'm really glad my midwives won't induce until 42+1 unless medically necessary.
I think baby girl is dropping s-l-o-w-l-y. I had my first painful BH contraction today, right across the bottom of my belly.
