@kjpugs: Are your providers okay with movement during labor? Our instructor talks a lot about movement helping to position the baby. Also, one thing we talked about in class were optimal birthing positions, and pushing on your back is the absolute worst one as far as pelvic opening. I think that you will be able to birth in the squatting position with a squat bar even if you have an epi, and that will help keep your pelvis open.
@Sadieloo: I love the hands-off approach, but at the same time I wish I had some idea of when this show is going to get on the road. The suspense is killing me!

@evansjamie: I hear you! I never know what's better anyhow, to know or not to know. The only thing the midwives were able to tell me is that my belly is getting smaller and so the baby is dropping.

@evansjamie: I made my twinner google it for me (haha, I was too scared) and she said the same thing. That being on your back during labor is the worst thing for it. Which is good because I know at least with period cramps, I cannot be on my back. Have to be either sitting up/leaning over, or standing/walking. Walking always seems to help with that stuff so I hope/assume labor I will be able to do that similarly. I know the hospital tour they said you could walk while laboring and one of my OB docs said they don't care if I labor squatted in the corner, it's about what works. I'll ask more questiosna bout it next appointment but my OB/hospital seem to be really on board with alternate laboring styles. FX!!!!!!!!!!

@chillybear: So excited to hear it's started. Try to keep us updated!
@kjpugs: I'm glad your OB is one board with alternative birthing positions. I've talked to my doctor about alternatives and he's completely supported. I hope we both have good experiences despite all this pain and uncertainty right now.

@TFrances: me too The uncertainties/complications is what stresses me out.

The past two days, I've been feeling a ton of BH contractions. They are starting to feel more painful than just uncomfortable. On one hand, I want to get this going. On the other hand, I want to actually go to my baby shower on Sunday. I haven't lost my mucus plug and my water hasn't broke yet... but I'm definitely feeling lots of changes down there. I read up and they all seem to be in line with prepping for labor. And the pressure is getting more intense. It almost feels like the baby is going to fall out (I know, I know, not possible). I'm also super tired, almost like first trimester fatigue. On a bright note, I started the baby's scrapbook album. With the fatigue and pain, I'm attempting to focus on small tasks to get through the day.

@TFRANCES: Would it be nice if the baby could actually fall out? It'd be it a lot easier for all of us
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@mrs. mochi: @TFrances: I said the SAME THING today! I said to my twinner that I wish she would fall out during my check today, but that I'd probably be dilated negative two with her just reaching out to punch my gine, haha.

Now I feel like a total b****. I just got off the phone with my bff and I really hurt her feelings on Monday. I called her after I talked to my family and stuff about our dr appt. we set the csection date and I freaked out. Then she is talking about how when she comes up she will be the only one holding the baby, etc. well, needless to say, I was overwhelmed at that point. The thought of my family, dh's family, and more all being there right after the baby is stressing me out. I want some quiet time, etc.
So, I didn't do a good job of being nice and talking sweetly and I really hurt her feelings. Now I've been crying and don't feel like stopping. I'm just stressed and that's not good. Hormones are crazy and I'm over this waiting. I've had Braxton hicks on and off all day, my lower back hurts, and my feet are starting to swell. Good news is she and I are okay again and it's all good.

Just checking in I just got an epidural and it is the best thing ever after being on pitocin for 4 hours I was in pain. Last time they checked me I was 6 cm

Wow, I am so behind! Two babies already & one more on the way! So excited for you @Chillybear!!!
I haven't been active on HB because my job has been kicking my butt. I've been working 80 hour weeks. I keep telling them, um, I'm 9 months pregnant, I need to slow down... and somehow I am up at 11pm every night working. SIGH.
The upside is that next Friday is my last day before maternity leave. This baby better cook all the way so I can enjoy my time off! Not to mention, I need to get things together. We are NOT ready!

@Chillybear: yay for updates... Hoping everything is going ok.
@Jennimac: hugs to you, I'm sorry it's been rough...
Had my 39 week appointment today, apparently I am 2cm dilated and 70% effaced which is weird bc I feel like I haven't felt really anything. The doctor said he could feel the head though, crazy!!!

Also Beaker did have her son but I wanted to let her share (I put it on here but no details since I'm not sure about name/birthday), but I know he's having some issues and is still at the hospital. The ladies at my job really outdid themselves with my shower! They even made half-sweet cupcakes for me since I can't have a ton of sugar! I feel so very loved and excited to introduce baby girl to them!

Well, as of October 4th, I am officially unemployed. The company was acquired and my division is being spun off into a new company. But they are so disorganized at this point that there's not really room for me. Overall, I'm bummed about the no income, but am glad because half the people at the new company are total idiots. I was getting super frustrated with their arrogant attitude yet lack of knowledge. Probably a good thing overall. Now I really won't have any distractions right after the baby arrives.

@TFrances: I'm glad that a decision was made one way or the other. Limbo is no fun, especially with a baby on the way.

Craziest thing happened this morning, at 12:08 pacific we welcomed a baby GIRL!!! 7# 12 oz 18.5 inches and perfectly healthy. It was a very fast birth and needless to say we were very lucky to make it to the hospital. Wasn't expecting that, I thought it would take hours. Very surprised it was a girl bc I truly thought boy the entire time. I'll try to get pics up soon.

@Redmini1: Congratulations! Anything less than hours is enviable! Can't wait to see pictures!
