I'm still losing large chunks if my plug which may be the grossest thing ever! I'm hoping baby boy can hold out one more week so I can tie up all loose ends at work.

@TFrances: ugh, that stinks, BUT at least it's done and you can move on and figure stuff out! it would have been a pain having that over your head around baby time! Thinking of you!

Another October baby to add! Clara Diane was born about an hour and a half after my water breaking at home and an hour after we got to the hospital! She was in a major hurry, which made avoiding the epi much easier!!

@AprilK: congrats! She's adorable and agree with @evansjamie: you look great! Short labor really is the way to go, eh? Hope everything worked out with the GBS stuff as well.

@daniellemybelle: It's so crazy! I remember when it felt like October was ages away!
I went out to lunch yesterday and people were so shocked when I told them my due date was Friday! I'm shocked! Tony thinks she's coming on her due date. I think she'll be late, but she has definitely dropped because I'm not feeling the constant urge to pee anymore.

@AprilK: wow - 8 cm when you got to the hospital!!! Go girl! Bummber that they weren't able to do the antibiotics. At least you know you weren't the first or last mama that that happened to. Hope you're getting some rest and enjoying your baby girl!

@daniellemybelle: @ladybee: @evansjamie: totally agree. Can't believe we are in our birth month! I don't know about you gals, but I feel like I have been pregnant forever and may be pregnant forever. This little guy isn't giving any indication that he's coming any time soon!

AFM (Since I'm 38 weeks today I should probably update!) We had a sweet surprise this week. DH is a chef so I figured there was NO WAY he'd get a work shower- you can't exactly all take a lunch break, and all his coworkers have different shift days so no shared "weekend", etc. Well after work on Saturday one of his friends invited him to get beers. I called him at 4am (he gets off around 1... and I woke up with pregsomnia, UGH) and he said they threw him a "diaper party!" I thought he said bachelor party and was REALLY confused for a minute haha. A bunch of his coworkers met him at the bar and each brought a pack of diapers. SO SWEET! I am going to make some cookies for him to bring in to share as a thank you.
I'm feeling more prepared but also, miserable! Sometimes it feels like she must be IN my birth canal she feels so low. I hope I get checked on Thursday at my next appointment- I have a lot to ask them too. I got lots done this weekend and DH has been an ANIMAL getting things done too. I am getting REALLY sick of all the unsolicited advice I get. Every time I post something on IG I have to put my phone down and walk away instead of being rude.
Oh and I think we had talked about nursing bras/tanks a little here? Just wanted to share that I got one of each in black from Bravado and REALLY like them. I used a 20% off code on diapers.com and was really happy with their site/service. I'm larger chested so I heard that brand is better for us busty girls, otherwise try Target.
Everyone feeling ready? (Those of us who aren't moms yet!!!!!)

@kjpugs: I've been stalking this October thread, (usually silently) but dude, I have been shaking my head so hard at your IG. I can't help but laugh everytime you post something, I feel bad for you!! I was cracking up on the "lotion/latino" picture where you had to say "I don't need any suggestions, thanks" a zillion times. Ever figure out what it meant?
Congrats to all the beautiful October babies!! So jealous of you guys!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@MrsTiz: I LITERALLY had to put down my phone in red hot rage. (FYI to other Oct mamas... all I did was ask what that word said- and I said I already packed lotion so I don't think it's "lotion." Every other comment was someone saying "lotion????" or saying "pack XYZ." My bags ARE PACKED. I have everything. I do not need suggestions.) So yes OMG. I don't know how I handled that.
And I honestly don't know what it was but I did realize, I can't pack my face lotion until D-day. SO, I'm going to assume it was lotions like body AND face? Doesn't make much sense but it did make me remember face lotion so not a total loss haha.

@kjpugs: haha silver lining, right? That would be why I typed my list
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: I'm ready. Bring it on!
Ditto on the advice. I'm so thankful for one coworker who is fully supportive of my desire for an unmedicated childbirth, because everyone else is all like, "Don't be a martyr," or, "Good luck with that breathing!"
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@MrsTiz: LOL! I probably would have still found a way to eff it up if I type it hahahahaha! Preg brain is something special, is it not?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: CANNOT believe you're due so soon. It's boggling my mind but also, so exciting!!!!! And I am having such a hard time dealing with the comments/advice and I WORK FROM HOME... I cannot cannot imagine if I was in an office. I'd probably be fired.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: I also work with mainly women, and most of them haven't had kids! It's frustrating.
We talked about our village in our last class last night. Now I'm freaking out because my instinct is to push my village away. Namely my mom, because I know how she is and I'm so afraid she's going to not be helpful and make this all about her. I'm afraid that nobody is going to think to bring us food, or they will think that the way they can help is holding the baby while I do things.
And we haven't had our car seat inspected, which freaks me out knowing that every date I tried to schedule it was FULL and I am DUE ON FRIDAY. We read the instructions and watched a video and my husband was literally on top of that base making sure it was tight enough. It doesn't move more than an inch in each direction. The next date is next Tuesday, so regardless we are heading up to the hospital to have it inspected, even if the baby is here.
PS - I'm going to miss going to childbirth class. I wish I had made more friends in it, but oh well.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: I wish I HAD gone to childbirth class. Biggest regret- but not sure we could have made it happen at all anyway. Oh well. And we have to get our carseats inspected too... blerg!!!!!!!!!! I keep forgetting. DH did do a stellar job getting them in, I was way impressed.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: Part of my thought process is that it shouldn't be that difficult to get the car seat installed correctly. Also, if it's going to be something that is recommended, then communities need to make it easier to get them inspected! One Tuesday a month is not enough for the number of parents in this city.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: see if your hospital does it!!! My hospital does Saturday AM inspections, no appt necessary. It's just not a convenient time for us unfortunately.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: They don't! The one closest to me does it on the second Tuesday of every month from 5-7, and then you can call the Children's hospital and schedule an appointment, but you have to do that weeks in advance and the earliest I could get in would be November.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: UGH!! That's so frustrating!!! I'm sorry LOL, I will inspect it for you!
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Apparently the firehouses here will inspect car seats for free. Maybe they will do that in your town as well?
@kjpugs: How sweet of your DH's co-workers to throw him a baby shower! Sorry to hear you are feeling so miserable still. Baby girl will be here any day now - keep hanging in there!
So I'm a bit peeved. It's really not that big of a deal, just a matter of principle. I had my 39-40 week appt. this AM (everything is the same - baby's heart rate, belly size, my BP, but if I go past my due date then I go for an ultrasound next week to check for fluid levels, etc.).
Anyhow, I always call DH on the way back from our appt's to give him an update and when I called today, he didn't answer his work phone. I call back again like 10 min. later and he answers only to tell me that he's on a conference call and if it had been an important call, I would have called his cell phone. I seriously wanted to punch him through the phone. We are less than 1 week away from our EDD and if I had been in labor he needs to know since it will take him at least an hour + to get home from his job. Urggh. I mean, in the least he could have called me or texted me back to make sure everything was ok. Right? Men!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: NO. That is just not right. I think you have every right to be peeved about that. When it's this close to D-day, he needs to be on the ball about it. Yes, you were calling to update about an appointment, but he didn't know that. You could have been calling to let him know that a c-section was needed ASAP.
MEN!!!! He should have been nicer about it.
I keep telling my husband to make sure his work cell and personal cell are charged and ready to go. I also told him that if he doesn't answer when I call/text, then I'm calling his office to hunt him down because this is too important.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Glad to hear I'm not being irrational. I mean I get that he has to work, but come on! Needless to say, I am being really mature about it and not answering his calls. If he thinks an update on a doctor appt. isn't important then he can wait to hear about it when he gets home.
I've pretty much said the same thing to my husband, that I will track him down. Thank goodness we have a doula who is local and that I can also rely on if need be (all my family is 4 hours away)!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: Also, how were you supposed to know that he was on a conference call? Seriously. I'm outraged for you. And I agree, he can wait until he gets home to hear about your appointment.
Thankfully, my husband doesn't work that far away, just a 15-30 minute drive from the house depending on traffic. So unless I have one of those crazy fast labors, he'll be able to get here with plenty of time to spare.
