@Sadieloo: @evansjamie: UGH I feel your frustration!!!! Does he work in the city? I was just thinking the other day how sucky it would be if I lived in NJ but DH worked in the city... it's such a pain in the you-know-what to commute, and not being in control to DRIVE would make it even worse.
DH is a chef so he can often not even feel his phone ring, let alone answer it. I will text him and won't get a reply again until hours later when he's slow or goes to the restroom. I made him get me the front of house manager's phone # (to text), the actual FOH # (since if you google it you get Disney Dining's main line, not the actual restaurant), and his head chef's office #. And he WILL know when I am in labor! HAHA!

@kjpugs: I spent a weekend in the city (staying in Hoboken; never doing that again if I can help it because it cost so much to get into the city) and I just don't know how I would handle it. Traffic on the way to my husbands office is a nightmare because you cross an interstate merge and they are doing roadwork on it. I just hope we don't have to go to the hospital during rush hour, because I imagine that I'm not going to feel great stuck in traffic while having contractions.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: Hoboken isn't even that bad!!! I used to commute to NYC via bus, I would take the 6:45 bus and get to work around 8:30. Had to walk to the bus, the bus took over an hour, then had to transfer to a subway, then walk about 6 blocks. It was actually really nice as far as "me time" and physical activity and such, but it was a pain when I would realize how much time it took!!! And yes- pricey... each bus ticket was something ridiculous like $5.50. And the subways then were $2... so every day I was spending $15 on just transportation. It is nice though if you don't have to have a car! Anddddddd that was just a long pointless rant haha.
I am SO hoping baby comes on one of DH's days off and not a weekend. Weekends are SO busy at his job!

@evansjamie: @kjpugs: thanks for the solidarity! My DH also has an issue with not feeling his phone ring in his pocket. I don't think we are alone in this, as it seems to be an issue for at least half of the women I know. Good point @kjpugs: I believe I have DH's boss' phone # and will hunt him down if need be!
DH works in Midtown East so in a best case scenario, if he needs to get home ASAP it will take him 45 min in a taxi or car service depending on traffic (I can only imagine how much that will cost us), if not longer on the train. I guess it all depends on how my labor progresses. I'm assuming it will not be a quick one and the train will work.
@evansjamie: We just moved from Hoboken! Did you taxi into the city? It is insanely expensive and the traffic is definitely bad, but the PATH train is much much cheaper, although not nearly as convenient as hopping in a cab.
kiwi / 726 posts
@kjpugs: Wow! That is a looonnngg commute. DH's is about 1 hr 15 min door to door. I've been telling him that I hope he enjoys it because that is going to be his "Me" time for a long time!
@evansjamie: fingers are crossed that the construction and traffic don't slow you down!
So I don't know about you ladies, but at the risk of sounding like a total alchy, I have really been wanting a beer, glass of wine or prosecco like every day now that we're getting close to the end. Not that I drank a lot before, but it all sounds SOOO good to me. Have you gals thought about what you want your post-labor celebratory meal to be (if you even feel like eating)? I'm thinking a glass, ok maybe just a sip of Prosecco, and a prosciutto, tomato and mozarella sandwich from this awesome italian deli near our house.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Sadieloo: are you stalking my IG? because I considered using a sierra nevada as mouthwash last night hahaha. OMG I WANT A BEER SO BAD. I am thinking I'll have a dogfish head punkin ale. I'm WAY into really hoppy IPA's but they may be too much for me after not drinking so long. I might stick with a Yuengling or something too. But I do plan to have one IPA a day to help with BF!!!
kiwi / 726 posts
@kjpugs: What does IG stand for? You haven't had any beer throughout your entire pregnancy? I've been having some sips here and there, but I really just want to sit down to a glass of something. My midwives also said it's ok, thank you very much And where have I been...IPA's help breastfeeding? That I have not heard!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Sadieloo: IG = instagram And hops are supposed to help breastfeeding. IPA's being such a hoppy beer... works for me! I have had a few TINNNNY sips throughout (earlier on I would dip my pinky in DH's for a taste, now I take a tiny sip, but it's only occasional that we are around a drink together.) I just don't feel right about drinking more though- I would be too worried for it to be worth it to enjoy it!
kiwi / 726 posts
@kjpugs: Ahhhh. I'm not cool enough to follow IG. Good to know about hopes. Thank goodness I also like hoppy beer. I have taken the European approach to pregnancy of eating and drinking some things in moderation (i.e. little tastes here and there), but totally get that you don't feel right going beyond a finger taste
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Sadieloo: are you not on instagram?? boooo!
And I'm just an anxious person in general, so I know myself and what I'd be ok with ! I have no issues with other people but just know myself
kiwi / 726 posts
@kjpugs: I'm not on IG. I'm way behind the times up here.
I totally get where you are coming from. It's kind of funny, because I tend to be anxious about a lot of things, but I think pregnancy has actually made me loosen up on some of it. Maybe it's because it took us awhile (about a year) to get prego and I realized that there is only so much I can control. That said, I have been very cautious about other things (nitrates and nitrites in particular).

Meant to share... I finally found the tote I had of "fat clothes." (I lost about 50 lbs before getting KU.) Excited to hopefully have some clothes to wear right after I give birth. ALSO VERY EXCITED because my fat undewear were in there. I just put some on and WHERE HAVE THEY BEEN FOR THE LAST THREE OR FOUR MONTHS? So mad I put off unearthing them. Amazing comfort!

@kjpugs: I don't know that I'll ever get up on the times. But never say never. Meant to add before, that next time you are in Jersey we'll have to meet up (maybe at Egan and Sons) for some hoppy beers! And way to go losing 50 lbs pre-prego. That's amazing! Beyond my what to eat after labor and delivery, I have also been thinking a lot about how to get back in shape. These past couple of weeks have been all about carbs and sugar and I need to get myself in check!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Sadieloo: oh no doubt we will DEFINITELY be meeting up when I'm next in NJ!!!!!!!! Egan's sounds like a great plan!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: @kjpugs: We took a shuttle back and forth to the city about twice a day, so it ended up being $10 just to get to and from Manhattan and then another $8.25 for the unlimited subway passes each day.
Also, I'm not a big drinker, but I was totally eyeballing some mimosas yesterday at lunch!

Hello Ladies! I have followed the board since the beginning and on rare occasion chimed in but now that we are all so close to D-Day I just had to get back in! My official due date is tomorrow, Team Blue, and having a home birth!
I am home on leave but getting very little "rest" because I also have a 14 month old who is keeping me BUSY!
Have any other moms struggled with symptoms of cholestasis? The main symptom is itching that begins on the hands and feet and gets worse in the evenings. I have definitely been out of my mind because of the itching on a few occasions so I am eager for this baby to arrive so I can hopefully get some relief.
Cheers to all the new mom and the waiting moms! It is so fun to check in each day to see who has gone into labor!

@kjpugs: YAY! I made the list!
And I am fully mentally prepared to go well beyond my due date, my daughter made me wait 2 weeks!
And P.S. I love the excitement about your "fat clothes" underwear! I have a couple pairs that have gotten snug and I would kill for a few oversized pairs to float around in!

@Protectlove: oh man two weeks late!!!!!!!!!! It'll be interesting to see when your little boy arrives! And yep... nothing like my good ole stretched out grannies haha
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: Oh I know. I just didn't want to share the details from her blog because I remember being furious when my SIL shared our name on FB. I'm glad you are keeping up with it, I have a hard time remembering sometimes.
It's my last day of work. Someone outside the organization asked if I had had the baby yet after I emailed them, and mentally I screamed, "If I'd had the baby, you wouldn't be hearing from me!" Obviously, I will just need to bring the baby back to work to tie up loose ends. My boss is already talking about calling me on my maternity leave in case people can't find things, and I'm going to flip. I'm thinking about charging for my time if they are going to insist on calling me over the next three months.

@evansjamie: ok, I'm going to add her name like Beaker's, but let her come add the date/name/etc! Just so we have an accurate count

I don't look at the board for two days and poof! so many new little ones! I really need to stay on top of everything. My crafting friends threw me a little baby shower yesterday. It was nice, but not a single person bought me diapers. Crazy! That is my go-to shower gift! Guess I will have to be making a Target run this week to finish prepping. I still don't have my hospital bag packed. I've gotten so big that the outfit I was going to wear home (yoga pants and maternity tee) is being worn almost constantly. Baby is definitely wedging himself down low and it's creating constant pain. Sitting, standing, lying down, nothing seems to alleviate the pain. I'm just so tired and cranky now. DH said something the other day (nothing crazy or even important) and I completely thew off the handle. Cannot handle the hormones right now! He still hasn't settled his maternity leave yet and it's freaking me out. I like plans, he likes to take things as they come. Needless to say, it's creating some issues around here. And I have absolutely no desire to cook or feed myself and yet I am constantly hungry. Plus, I have no money until I get my paycheck (second to last one) today and then deposit tomorrow, which means no money until Wednesday. Argh! I am just a ball of mess today (obviously). I think I'll go eat some chocolate and read a book.

@kjpugs: Excellent! And thanks for updating the list. I definitely can't keep track of everyone, so super helpful.
@Protectlove: welcome back! No cholestasis here. That sounds super uncomfortable! So awesome that you are doing a home birth too!
@evansjamie: You should totally bill for any hours worked!!!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@TFrances: I'm super cranky too. I woke up last night and was stuck to the bed. Not even that sweaty, but it took me five minutes to pry myself off the bed so I could go to the bathroom. I was not a happy camper. My going home outfit is being constantly worn as well (either a dress if I have a c-section or maternity tights and a tunic if I don't).
At class last night, they showed us the thunderpads we'll have to wear after delivery. It's basically an adult diaper. I should just buy Depends now and be done with it.

So many babes already...we'll have to see who has the FIRST official OCTOBER baby tomorrow
I know many of you have been griping about your husbands, so I feel a little sheepish...but I feel that my husband has a serious case of FOMO (fear of missing out) when it comes to my pregnancy. Everything from wishing he could feel the kicks himself to lately checking in on me nearly every hour asking how I'm feeling or how I'm doing. I know it's because he's excited, but to be honest...there are times I feel a bit annoyed - yikes - I know. I should be grateful, but just saying ladies...it seems to be hard to find that middle ground
watermelon / 14467 posts
@mrs. mochi: My husband really likes feeling the kicks and stuff too. I'm just more independent, so I hate it when he's always trying to do things for me (like plant my mums). I love that he wants to be so involved though. It's a fine balance.
apricot / 286 posts
@evansjamie: The thunderpads are definitely ridiculous looking. I bought some smaller ones for at home. Just afraid I'm going to stain our white! (not my choice) sheets.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@TFrances: I'm worried about our blue sheets! Though, I'm not too happy with them. They are one of the nicer brands sold at Target (Threshold) and I've already got three holes in them from my cat climbing on the bed. I've barely owned these sheets for two months.
Apparently the hospital will send us home with Chux pads (glorified puppy pads, from the looks of them) and I'm going to make sure those are on the bed for the first couple of weeks.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@TFrances: you sound EXACTLY like me. I was just nodding/agreeing with your whole post. Mad support mama!
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Lol. We bought some wee wee pads for our pooch in preparation for the hurricane last year. We ended up not using them and I have been seriously considering putting them on our bed. I'm worried I'm going to ruin the mattress!
@mrs. mochi: It's funny how these things go. Of course I'm thinking, how cute that your hubs wants to be so involved, but know that I would get annoyed as well. It's def tough to find the middle ground.
DH also knows he needs to step it up in some departments. He actually came home and asked me what I want to eat for dinner (first time in the pregnancy he's said that). This was in response to me barking at him after I somewhat apologized for not making dinner one night because I have so much work to do. He told me it was 'ok' because he would eat cereal, and I was like or how about your pregnant wife and unborn child who need to eat a well balanced meal! At least we're making progress!
