@kjpugs: awesome that your hospital has so many options to keep you as comfy and healthy. From what I hear, that stuff makes a big difference and is super helpful. My plan is also to labor at home as long as possible. Fingers crossed for all of us!!!

@evansjamie: LOL I thought you meant your pipes like, your metaphorical inside your body "pipes" haha! Took me a second!

@kjpugs: I'm planning on laboring at home as long as possible. That's awesome that your hospital is so progressive! I wish more of ours were. That's one of the reasons that I'm crossing state lines to have my baby. The hospitals in Louisville are not very progressive.

@kjpugs: Bahahahahaha! If only! that fix is a lot easier and less expensive!

@evansjamie: honestly it was not even something I CONSIDERED until recently when I found out about my issues. We just got REALLY lucky, and I'm so glad. My SIL had VERY similar issues to what my worst case scenario would be, ending in a c-section, and she didn't have any of these options. Makes me really glad I am aware and ahead of the problem- makes me feel like I have some control. (HA!)

Fun question for everyone- do you plan to take weekly or monthly pictures of your LO? If so, how do you plan to do it? With the week or month info showing? Same outfit/background/stuffed animal, etc? I'm trying to decide what to do, inspire me!

@KJPUGS: In my culture, the 100th day is celebrated - I believe it was due to infant mortality way back in the day. I plan on doing a picture everyday for the first 100 days via Instagram (it'll be a "dailygram") and create either a college or mini flip book for myself and the grandparents. I think it'll just be a little insight into our daily lives, so babe won't be dressed up or necessarily in a pose.
After that, I think we'll just do monthly up until a year and maybe longer if it works out. Like you though - I haven't really thought about outfit/background....
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@mrs. mochi: is that called a Dohl? (spelling?) I think I've seen friends do a big celebration around that point, but I never knew why. That's so fun! Probably somewhat similar in timing to a baptism, and that I'm sure it ends in a gathering with family and friends. ANOTHER thing I have to think about... when to do the baptism, since our family is out of town!
We have a package with a photographer that includes newborn and monthly photos. So I know I'll have some monthly pics, so I'll probably do weekly... but I have to figure out how to do it, too! My SIL did monthly pics in a laundry basket, and it was really cute.
cherry / 175 posts
@KJPUGS: Dol is the first birthday - a very big celebration in the Korean culture. Many people go all out for this event.
We are doing newborn pics, too. Our package is based on milestones - newborn, head up, sitting up and walking (so roughly, 0, 3, 6, 12 months).
Laundry basket or some inanimate object for a point of reference for size is generally fun I think.

@kjpugs: I don't know. I like the idea of weekly/monthly pics but don't know if I want to commit to it. If I do, i will probably do monthly in a white onsie. Lots of people do the chair pictures, so I want to do something different. Maybe crib/high chair/quilt pics? I could incorporate the quilt I made her.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: oh I LOVE the idea of incorporating your quilt!!! You have tons of free time now on maternity leave when you aren't helping work haha, you should make me one
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: I sent her an email this morning saying I would be out of cell service for my birthday and I don't feel a bit sorry for lying about it.
I do need to use up some of my stash, I'm sure a quilt could be made.

@kjpugs, @mrsmochi, @evansjamie: I'm loving the picture ideas. I was planning on just doing monthly with the sticky bellies and white onseies. He'll probably be positioned in the same chair with one of the stuffed animals for comparison (I'm thinking Jedi Mickey). When we travel to see family for Christmas, my mom wants to do professional photos with all the generations (my grandma, my mom, me, the twins, and the new baby). But I'm also loving the idea of the first 100 days photos. Maybe I'll do that just for me and post them on instagram/FB. Nothing fancy, but just a daily pic that I can compare later. At any rate, I have to take weekly pictures for our new Project Life scrapbook spreads. I'm sure there will be many to choose from.

@kjpugs: Great question! And I love everyone's responses and ideas. Knowing myself, unless I put a reminder in my calendar I will forget, so I will probably aim for a monthly pic knowing that I will take pics every day anyhow. Assuming my pooch and the baby get along, I may try to have a pic of the two of them. They are going to BFF's anyhow, right?

@evansjamie: Was thinking of you yesterday. Our neighbor gave us (on loan) her Moses basket for the baby!!! It's going to be perfect to carry the baby around in in the house. She said she used it all the time.

Just got back from my 39 wk appointment - babe is still head down. They are thinking she is going to be a long and skinny one. My cervix is measuring the same as last week - 2.5 cm/50% - so no progress, but I am totally okay with that I have my 40 wk next Tuesday and that's when we'll probably set an induction date as a fail-safe.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: How sweet! I don't know what your style is, but Rh baby and child has a gorgeous rocking Moses basket stand.
@mrs. mochi: Glad you had a good appointment! I guess we will be setting an induction date if I make my next appointment. They'll let me go to 42 weeks, which will be Oct. 18.

Hi there! Georgians Grace arrived at 10:58 CST. She is 6lbs and 11oz. She is perfect. You guys are going to love this experience. I'm gonna try to attach a photo.

Oops.
Spelled my kid's name wrong already. Georgiane Grace. We'll call her Georgi.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: Oooh! I love that! I've never heard of RH but they have great stuff. I think I'll copy some of their ideas for sure Btw, are you at all nervous that you are going to have to be induced? As I've commented on here a lot (in case I sound like a broken record), I definitely think our lil guy is going to be late. Assuming I'm still prego at my next appt (on Monday) we go for a sonogram to make sure everything is ok. And then on Wed. I have an acupuncture appt. to really get things moving if they haven't already. I'm ok going late, I just really don't want to be induced.
@MrsMed: Woohoo! And congratulations!!!! Love, love, love the name Georgiane Grace and the nickname Georgi. Can't wait to see pics!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: No, I'm not worried. I trust them. They've talked about it and they only use Pit to get contractions going. Before Pit, they will try other things like the cervical balloon or Cervadil to try and get labor going.

@MrsMed: YAYYYY!!!! Congrats! So thrilled and what a GORGEOUS name! Don't worry- autocorrect will learn it soon, haha! Updating because you all know me!

I'm in the best mood- my twinner just had her baby a week late she was induced last night. Can't wait to see that cute baby!
And I wanted to share pics of my nursery! It's still a work in progress - especially since she will be in our room a while and this will stay a guest room somewhat. But I'm still excite about it. Clearly we need a lampshade hahah. And her name doesn't start with a K- that's and old "K" of mine, if anyone's baby girl is a "K" name let me know and it's yours!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
(ugh, the clutter in the room annoys me! The little table and Ubbi diaper pail are out to flatten the carpet though. And there are still thigns to put away/wash/etc. Like I said... work in progress!)
Oh and FYI Abe is an old fraternity hand me down of DH's and I can't explain it, I JUST LOVE IT.

@evansjamie: they induced me last time with cervadil and my body responded beautifully!
I'll respond to everyone tonight. On phone so hard to type!

@kjpugs: The room is so cute!!! And the historian in me loves the picture of Abe!
@Jennimac: Thanks for the insight!

@evansjamie: Good points! I trust my midwives as well, I'm paranoid that any intervention will lead to more interventions.
@kjpugs: Your nursery is looking great. I am wondering if we should have the baby in our room as well (our nursery is right next door). I love Abe as well.
apricot / 286 posts
@kjpugs: As a former history teacher, I insist that you keep Abe up and in a prominent place. And teach the baby all about the presidents. I have presidential bobbleheads... They might just have to relocate to the nursery to keep the baby company.

@TFrances: DH is a HUGE history nerd and will have NO problem doing all of the above! And I love him for it!

Thinking of everyone this morning. I'm one of the late EDDs and I've been feeling like crap the last two days. Sleeping last night was horrible. I can't imagine how everyone farther long feels! Just wanted to say TGIF and I hope everyone is hanging in there!

@evansjamie: @Dreamcatcher: Happy EDD! Hope everyone is feeling well. We are all SOOO close!!!

So last night my Orlando friends threw me a surprise baby shower!!! I don't know a ton of people here so I thought that would never happen. It was just the four of us but it was SO FUN!!!!!!!!!!! They each have a daughter so their kiddos got to play and we played some games (unscramble the baby words- fun stuff like that! I'm so competitive haha) and they even had all my favorite foods!!!!!!!!!!!! It was seriously the best night ever. So fun to hang out with them, have a girl's night, and celebrate baby girl!!!!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: I'm so glad that you got to have a good girls night!
@Sadieloo: Thank you! Is being irritable a sign of impending labor? Because everyone (husband, dog, cats) was laying on me this morning and I just could not stand it and snapped at them to get off me. But now I'm okay, just general discomfort that is par for the course.
kiwi / 726 posts
@kjpugs: That's fantastic! Glad you had a great night out with your girls!
@evansjamie: Good question. If so, I should be going into labor any time now. I'm impressed you even let them sleep on you! By the way, you look GREAT!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Sadieloo: It was cute when it was just the cat. She was laying with her back touching me..then the dog jumped on me and my husband rolled over on me and the other cat jumped up squalling. It was a pregnant lady dog pile and I was not a fan since I already feel like a beached whale getting out of bed.
Also, pretty sure I lost some of my mucus plug. The teenage boy in me was fascinated by it. The girl in me was embarrassed because I queefed.
kiwi / 726 posts
@evansjamie: I would have love to have seen a pic of that. Have your animals been acting any differently now that you are getting close to birth? Our dog has definitely been more cuddly with me, but I think it's really because I'm warmer than usual.
So exciting that you lost some of your mucus plug! That's a sentence I never thought would come out of my mouth. Ha!
