DONE WITH WORK! I thought this day would never come! Of course, now I feel very weird. I have an around-the-clock type of job & it's unsettling to not be constantly checking email. I am going to have to stay busy until this girl comes!
I have an appointment on Monday (haven't had a chance to put it on the list). I'll be 38w9d and I am VERY curious to know if I dilated, but my midwives don't do routine cervical checks until after 40 weeks unless you ask. Am I crazy to ask? I know they are supposed to hurt and they don't really tell you much!

@daniellemybelle: Woohoo! I think you'll find ways to stay busy at first. I've been off since Tuesday and have found that I have a lot of last minute things I want/need to do, plus, you get to REST! I'm taking a nap or quiet hour every day just because I can. As for the cervical checks, I'm anxious to see where I stand too. I hope you have a great weekend!
@Sadieloo: They seem clingier these days, but I'm not sure if it's because they sense change or what.

Had another weekly appointment yesterday. Still not dilated although baby's head is very far down and cervix is softened and thinned. Monday I go for a non-stress test and amniotic fluid ultrasound to check fluid levels. They scheduled the induction for Wednesday (I'll be 41+2). They call me to the hospital any time between 6am to 10pm, assuming they have room for me that day.
Baby has a few days left to come out on her own. C'mon girl!!

@Jennimac: Me too! I'm so excited to meet more of our babies!
@MapleMoose: FX that she comes on her own!

@daniellemybelle: I would ask if I were you! Yes it's uncomfortable, but over quickly. I am ENDLESSLY glad that I did mine- the good things I found out were really motivating to me (baby's head being RIGHT THERE, and even the tiny bit of progress). PLUS, more importantly, I would never have known about my flat pelvic bone if it wasn't for being checked. And if I found out about it during labor I'd probably be limited in what I could do about it that late in the game. So to me it was worth being checked.
And congrats on being done with work!!! SO EXCITING! I'm jealous- although working from home I really am probbbbably not as hard working right now (and less showering too!)

@MapleMoose: oh my goodness!! I bet you'll have a few on edge days waiting! Can't wait to hear some news!

Hi Ladies,
I've visited this board over the last 9 months here and there but have been so crazy with work I haven't participated much. I'm about to go on leave and finally feel like I can totally focus on baby now.
I updated my status on the board here. It’s hard to believe October is already here.
Good luck to all of you as you near your due date and for those of you who are past! Can’t wait to see pictures of all your soon-to-be-born babies!

@Mrs Spoon: Welcome back! I hope the time before your leave is smooth sailing and not crazy!
@kjpugs: I know from external belly prodding from the chiro and midwife that her head is in my pelvis, I'm just not sure how engaged it is. And the vag pain has lessened for today, which is a welcome relief.

Yesterday was my last day at my job. I feels good to be done with all the stress. DH works for the same company. They threw us a little baby shower! Very unexpected! And tons of people chipped in to get us an Amazon GC. I added it to my account and have had to restrain myself from just buying a ton of crap off of my registry. We've got the essentials already, so I should wait. I imagine that I diapers would be the best thing to use the money on, but I'm sure a few cute nonessentials will sneak in there.
I've been feeling halfway decent this week until I woke up this morning. Does anyone else have trouble breathing? I feel like I have a head cold or an elephant sitting on my chest? The doc says it's nothing to worry about, but I'm definitely feeling crappy today. Guess it's probably just another uncomfortable symptom this far down the line...

@Mrs Spoon: yay! Glad to see you pop in! Can't wait to find out what you're having!
@TFrances: congrats on ending the stress, I'm sure it's bittersweet but it sounds like they sent off with a bang! What a sweet idea to have a little shower! I have the hardest time sitting on gift cards right now too haha!

@TFrances: Teeheehee I splurged on some Aden + Anais swaddle blankets with part of an Amazon gift card. Now that I have them I'm happy I did because they are so soft and big.
apricot / 286 posts
@maplemoose: I have some of those on my registry right now. I feel like buying a baby monitor today was more practical (we have other swaddle blankets), but I'm really being tempted by those blankets...

Has anyone found any relief from lightning crotch? The last few nights its been horrible, especially mixed with the pelvic pressure.

@ladybee: Bouncing on the labor ball helps a bit, but mostly I just have to wait it out.

@ladybee: only thing that helps me is just yelling OW and grabbing my crotch. I am a JOY in public.

I am one day past my due date and already people are asking me if I'm still waiting on baby. Generally, I am a nice person, but for the love of all that is holy, I could cut everyone who is asking me this question. I just want to say, "No, I'm keeping you waiting for shits and giggles. Because Ic an control when this baby comes. "
Sorry for the cursing, I am just super aggravated. I'm going to be a super fun person to be around these next 13 days.

Hey ladies! Thrilled to share that we welcomed Alexander Jozef yesterday at 4:30 PM. He's 20 3/4 inches and 7 lb 12 oz!
My labor and delivery were kind of crazy. Started bleeding at 10 PM on Friday, which led to contractions and my water breaking. Then everything really slowed Sat AM. We ended up going to the hospital around 2 pm only to find out that they could see the head and I was fully dilated! Thank goodness because the contractions Friday night were intense enough that I was going for the epidural ( I wanted a natural delivery). Alex is doing great and we are all in love!

@kjpugs: LOL @ the visual!
@ladybee: I get that periodically but I didn't know there was a name for it. (hehe) Agree with @evansjamie: about bouncing on the yoga ball.

While at Target today, my DH found this guy and thought he was a must have for little mans nursery (remember the theme is whales, sailboats, etc). He has named his Squidward.

AFM... weekend update, urg. Last week on his day off DH decided to put together almost everything. I looked at our bouncer and it didn't look right to me. I shared a pic with a friend who has it and said it was definitely not right. I spent an hour crying trying to figure out what was wrong. Turns out DH had switched the L and R connector pieces. I was feeling pretty frustrated!!!! Don't worry though I was eating Reese's PB chips the entire time to make myself feel better, HAHA! I also put together our floor tiles (I like having the little area of our living room set up for baby now!) and set them out, as well as vacuumed and swept- it's my weekly "chore" but I haven't done it in a few weeks because it wears me out so much. Now I'm waiting on pizza!
Does anyone else feel like their hunger has it's own hunger now? I am just completely famished ALWAYS!!!!
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@kjpugs: he isn't what I would have picked but my heart melted with his excitement. Seeing him in our nursery, he is pretty perfect. I'm glad you figured out your bouncer. My weekly chore is dusting and vacuuming but it wears me out and kills my back.

Tonight's my last big outing before baby arrives: book club dinner. Really looking forward to it and eating some pie!
On a crazy note: DH just told me that the acquiring company plans on sending the PMs to Europe and other offices for orientation and training. He doesn't know when exactly, but it will probably be in November. That means I will be a single mom for a few weeks with a tiny new baby. Oh my! I'm hoping that it can wait until closer to Thanksgiving, but who know...

It's possible that I'm having contractions, but they are irregular. Anywhere from 8-14 minutes apart and feel like strong menstrual cramps. Here's hoping that this is the real deal!
