@MapleMoose: Overdue twinsies! I am on day 9 of waiting too! Wishing you the best whether it happens naturally or induction!
apricot / 286 posts
So tired of the waiting... Trying to keep myself busy and productive. I managed to vacuum the entire house (haven't done that in a few weeks), make 16 more thank you cards, organize some crafting supplies, write some blog posts, and visit the coffeehouse (probably for the last time until much later). And now I'm sitting here not sure what to do to keep busy... Come on baby!

Finally at the hospital and the induction has begun! Cervix dilated 1cm and 50% effaced with baby's head far down. Having contractions but they aren't painful or regular at this point. Had Misoprostol pill placed to get things moving so now I'm confined to the bed for the next two hours.
@Protectlove: Have they discussed a plan with you about how man days overdue they will let you go?

@MapleMoose: Good luck with the induction! Wishing you a speedy labor and delivery!

@MapleMoose: can't wait for an update !!!
@MrsMed: precious!!!!
We are doing well. I was able to get up today and take a shower. It's Painful to walk around, but I know that it will help me to heal faster by getting up and moving around. Mm is doing a great job. She has a set of lungs on her and doesn't hesitate to use them. She been a pretty good nurser and now I'm just waiting until my milk comes in. I'm hoping to go home tomorrow, but we shall see. I love our pediatrician. He is very nice!!! Overall, DH and I are in lov with our mm and we've been a really great team together. He is so precious with her. Can't wait for more of y'all to join is on this side!!! It's wonderful!!!

@Protectlove: Baby, come on out!!!
@MapleMoose: Hope everything goes swimmingly!
@MrsMed: So sweet! I love the photos of doggies meeting their human siblings
@Jennimac: Youch, I can't imagine how hurty you are after such a big surgery! But you are making me so excited to get to be a mama
Someone mentioned earlier (I think Chillybear?) if we were going to make an "October 2013 mamas" thread. Technically that's the name of this one but if those of you who have "crossed over" want a thread just about the babies, please go for it!!! Though I love seeing baby updates here too

So, how often am I supposed to be having Braxton-Hicks contractions? Is there such a thing as too often?
cherry / 124 posts
@MapleMoose: Oh how exciting! You could be having your baby as I type this! Eee!
I have a midwife and will be having a homebirth so until I hit 42 weeks she won't be concerned or encourage anything crazy (castor oil or herbs). So here I wait! Hopefully I will have an update to share soon!

@evansjamie: @MrsMed: @daniellemybelle: Thank you ladies! Started the Pitocin so contractions are coming fast and strong.
@MrsMed: Love the family pictures and meeting the pup!
@Jennimac: You go mama!

@MapleMoose: so exciting!!!!
@Protectlove: anxiously awaiting updates!!
@abbylyn: maybe 4-5 an hour is when you need to check if it is the real thing or not. I'm not too sure because mine would stop as soon I started to worry that they might be the real deal. Fingers crossed that something happens soon.

@mrs. mochi: woohoo! Good luck!
We survived our first night at home H is only interested in sleeping on a person (namely me) and would only nurse for 5 minutes on each side. My milk is coming in, so I have to figure out how to pump to relieve some of the pressure.

@MrsMed: EEEK! SO CUTE! Congrats! Details, woman! I gotta update the thread, haha!
@abbylyn: I hope too often BH means good things for you!!!! I would kill for any contraction right about now!
@mrs. mochi: @MapleMoose: ANXIOUSLY awaiting news from you guys
watermelon / 14467 posts
@MrsMed: Love the pictures! I too love a good fur sibling pic!
@abbylyn: are they more than five an hour? I think that's what my midwife told me.
@Protectlove: I can't wait to hear about your home birth experience!
@MapleMoose: I hope you are holding your baby!
@Jennimac: Oh my goodness girl, she is stunning!
I may be a bit biased, but we October mamas make some beautiful babies!
And finally, a picture of me with my girl prior to leaving the hospital:
apricot / 298 posts
@evansjamie: Some hours they're at least every ten minutes. It's never painful, just really uncomfortable because my belly is so tight and distended.
Had an appointment yesterday, and the doc couldn't tell if she was head down anymore, so now I get to go have another ultrasound on Monday, if she doesn't decide to make an appearance before then (Sunday is my due date). If I start to go into labor before we confirm that she's head down, I just have to go to the hospital sooner than I would if we knew she was head down. I'm not super worried, but I'd be surprised if she wasn't head down anymore after being there for the last four weeks.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@abbylyn: They are probably okay then, just getting you ready for labor. I had them from 31 weeks, sometimes pretty rapidly, and went into labor naturally at 40+3.

@Jennimac: @evansjamie: I am loving these pictures!!!
I have had a terrible sore throat for a few days & I'm pretty bummed out that I could feel sick when the baby is born! I'm pretty sure it's just a lovely combination of allergies/dry air/acid reflux, but oh do I wish there were a magic fix!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
So I don't think I've been having actual braxton hicks, but for the past 2 days or so I've noticed randomly feeling kind of off in my abdomen. I hesitate to say crampy- but just that feeling like BEFORE you get awful cramps? Like the feeling where I'd know AF was about to arrive (and then rip me to shreds with my real cramps, lol) It comes and goes - I'll notice it and then realize a little later it's gone, nothing at all I could time and nothing related to belly tightening or antyhing like that either. Thoughts? I plan to bring it up to my doctor at my appointment tomorrow. Hopefully it's the beginning of something!

@kjpugs: I've had that too in addition to my usual BH (which don't really hurt). It happens more when I am in certain positions so I have been chalking it up to LO running out of space!
Am I the only one fairly content to let their LO keep cooking? I am anxious for her arrival, and uncomfortable, but I'm also freaked out, haha. I'm content with a few more days of nesting... Now watch, I'll go 42 weeks and eat my words!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@daniellemybelle: I'm actually hoping now it'll be next Wednesday or later (but hope to go into labor without assistance!) It sounded so long but now that my due date is in 4 days, it seems more do-able! I wouldn't be upset if she arrived sooner! I just feel like I have a lot to do still, mostly work stuff.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: so....sounds like you are getting ready to go! My early contractions were like strong menstrual cramps that progressively got worse.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@evansjamie: everyone seems to describe things "like cramps" and that's exactly how I feel. Throughout my whole abdomen/back it feels like I'm going to get my period. Hopefully this is legit! But it's really not painful just dull/annoying... so who knows how long it will be. Or maybe it's like a 9 on the pain scale and I'm a superhero. (A girl can dream, right? HAHA!)
watermelon / 14467 posts
@kjpugs: We're all rock stars! Just remember that the pain doesn't go on forever and you will get a break. Also, I hope your contractions follow a pattern, because mine were all over the place, having nothing but a two minute break for several contractions and then I'd get a 10 minute break.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@kjpugs: I've been having the same thing the last few days. It's just that yuck, I'm about to get my effing period feeling. Sometimes it's actually painful but most of the time just uncomfortable.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@ladybee: I've been feeling YUCK in general the last few days. Just grocery shopped and bought barely anythign for me- feeling kind of nauseous- but nothing sounded very good. ANNOYING!

Hey Ladies! I wanted to pop in to say hi and see how you all are doing. Congrats to those who had their babies!!
We are doing ok, Josie has her days and nights mixed up so she wants to party from 2-7am. Breast feeding has proved to be the hardest thing so far... We are currently trying to get her back up to her birthweight. Crossing my fingers our little peanut starts to put some weight on. I already hate the pump. Here's a few pics... Girl is going to need her first haircut in a month.

Holy boobs. My milk is in and they are HUGE!!!! We had a little bit of a time getting mm to latch, but DH helped me stay calm and we got her latched and she ate on both sides, then on another side again. Boobs are still big but hopefully, it won't be too painful. I don't have a breast pump yet, but I did order a manual one that will be here Monday so that can help with engorgement. .

@Jennimac: Totally rocking porn star boobs. Holy boobs! I have a sleepy nurser, and am having a hard time getting 10 minutes on one side out of her. Thank God I have a pump to use before my insurance pump gets here! I pumped 2.5-3 oz out of one boob for relief.
