@Mrs tartan: i envy you! i don't manage to get home from work until 8pm so i force myself to stay awake to at least 11:30 so i have some semblance of me time. but i think it's taking a toll cause i can't get up in the mornings now, hah. i also need to constantly eat something- usually something tangy or carby to help with the nausea. i can't really handle dairy or meats anymore- the smell alone makes me turn away. i used to have a bit of a sweet tooth but i don't find it appealing anymore either. thank goodness, else i'd be stuffing my face with cake all day long.
@CMBKNYC: sadly i think nausea is just a way of life now for us now. i suppose we should embrace the bad with the good....? *grumble*
@mrs scottish: what are fifths?

@mrskoloa: How did your appointment go?
@MrsScottish: not really sure how to add you to our calendar at this moment! LOL, I'll have to think on it when I get a moment.
@HolisticMama: Thanks! You are more than welcome to!!
@cmbknyc: His surgery went well, thanks for asking! It ended up being delayed by about five hours which meant the poor guy had to sit there twiddling his thumbs waiting with a grumbling stomach since he hadn't eaten anything since almost 17 hours before. But it finally happened and he's healing nicely. Now he has two whole weeks of being under foot and annoying me, hahaha. Also, I hate moving so much! It's such a pain!

since you guys have been privy to my stories of my doctor's poor bedside manner, I thought you'd like to hear his latest. This morning at my D&C, just as I was about to be wheeled back into the OR suite, he comes to me to explain the procedure and he referred to it as a "roto rooter". In recovery, my nurse, who was awesome, asked me curiously how I ended up with him as my doctor and I told her that I had spotting and he was the only doctor available that day, so I took the appointment. She said - "switch to Dr. so and so. He is awful."
I'm feeling pretty good emotionally and physically. Definitely relieved it's over, and it's been nice to see some of you around here were in my position a few months ago and have already gotten your BFPs again.

@MrsScottish: Congrats and welcome! That is the cutest little hockey announcement. My husband would absolutely love that!
No major cravings or aversions yet. It really depends day-to-day... today, I don't have much of an appetite. But a week ago, I couldn't get enough Oreos in my mouth! Lol
@Tidybee: oh goodness...I hope you take the nurse's advice and switch doctors. Your current one seems to be missing a sensitivity gene.

@Tidybee: wow, that doctor is just terrible. Glad you're feeling good tho and hope you never have to see that doctor again.

Hey all, this thread is picking up speed! I'll have to catch up soon, but so far for me no morning sickness, just acne and sore breasts, and TIRED! omg tired! I sleep most days from 5:30 til 9 then stay up for an hour or so and go back to bed. DH has been picking up the slack, bless him! I feel bad as usually I do the cooking, but I'm not really interested in food after 5 pm, so I'm not cooking...,poor guy!
We are hoping to go this weekend to tell my parents, I'm hesitant as I've had some spotting, more like brown cm all week. I have a dr appointment next Thursday, but we are going out to a concert with my parents and it would be hard to hide my lack of drinking, so I guess we will just tell them.

@bunnylovesbear: and we are still the only ones on lo #3! So far the only thing I've craved is pringles... lol so healthy. Though the other day a friend was talking about taco bell and it made me sick just thinking about it even though I craved it the most last time.
Eta: on anothee note, I made my appointment with my midwife and of course it isn't until April 10th.... I will be exactly 12 weeks.

@Mrsk: I hear you on the complete and utter exhaustion. I am so very tired all of the time. I also have a cold, so that's not helping. I woke up with a heavy head, sore throat, stuffy nose, itchy eyes - you know, the works. wah.
@cyndistar3: Yup, we're still the only ones crazy enough to go for #3. I still can't believe it myself!!
pomegranate / 3980 posts
@bunnylovesbear: I know what you mean, it is still sinking in! I keep realizing different things that will be changing. I really need to wean lo soon before I end up nursing a 2 1/2 year old and a newborn...

@however briefly: Hello!
My appointment went really well yesterday. Told the doctor that I stopped prenatals and he said I need to at least take 400mg of folic acid. I'm pretty tiny so I think the 400 is enough, but if I were a taller person I think he would have recommended the 600 or 800 mg. He said that having more and more vaginal discharge is totes normal. He reminded me that my nausea should be gone by week 14.
He tried using the hand held doppler to find the heartbeat, but I think 8 weeks is still too soon for the small doppler. [@Mrs tartan: How is it our weeks are different? I mean, I know there's a time difference but, whoa!] Anyways, so then he brought in the more sensitive machine and we found the heartbeat and took more pictures/measurements of the baby. The baby's heartbeat was 167 bpm (hah! Old wives tale = GIRL! but dr. said there's no correlation). Baby measured at 1.56 centimeters (a little bigger than a jelly bean! maybe a lima bean?). I told the doctor I had $10mil riding on the gender of the baby and he told us about a home gender test you can take that's almost 90% accurate. Unfortunately, if I take it, I automatically lose the bet.
I asked him about other options for constipation and he said to try prune juice or prunes... I bought the folic acid and prune juice last night and today I feel more sick that I was. Ugh! And what's worse is because I took both, I don't know what it is that's causing it! Too many variables at once. I'd make a terrible scientist.
My next appointment will be March 19. That's also my 12th week, so I'll have to think of a creative way to announce by then.
In other news, is anyone else watching the Olympics?
Also, @Tidybee: how in the world is that guy still in business? He sounds so terrible.
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@mrskoloa: Glad the appointment went well! What was the at-home gender test he told you about? I'm guessing it's one of the blood ones...while the idea sounds tempting I probably won't bother, partially because I hate needles and partially because I'd be scared of getting excited about a wrong result. Oh, and if you don't like prunes, pears can help with constipation as well. I've kind of been watching the Olympics but haven't been as good about it now that ice dancing is over, since that was the event I really cared about.
I've been feeling horribly sick and am terrified that I'm going to have morning sickness as badly as I did last time. I called my mdiwife and begged for Zofran, but they can't give me any until they've seen me - they did offer to have me come in today to verify the pregnancy so that they could do that, which was so nice of them, but I don't have anyone to watch Landon, so I had to turn them down. But then I went searching the house and found some old Zofran pills from my last pregnancy that aren't expired yet! Yay! So now I have a headache (common side effect) but am not feeling sick. I've been a lot more sensitive to smells lately too, which is tons of fun at diaper change time!
kiwi / 600 posts
@wonderstruck: I've been totally sensitive to smells lately, too.
@mrskoloa: Glad to hear your appointment went well and you got a sneak peek at your little bean. Prune juice always did the trick for me last time around...it's so gross and thick, though. The Sunsweet prunes are yummy, though. I'll probably pick some up next time I go food shopping to be proactive with the constipation. Dried apricots help do the trick, too.
Not too crazy about the Olympics right now. My son was born during the 2012 summer Olympics, so we watched those around the clock at the hospital, which was greatly entertaining, but I'm not all that excited about the winter ones. We have been following hockey, though.
Any preggo-friendly recommendations on cold remedies?

@mrskoloa: d'awww lovely scan pic
I have no idea how our dates are different. My lmp was dec 24th which makes me 8 weeks and 4 days along. The midwife put my Edd as 1st oct. what about you?
I am another one sensitive to smells, couldn't get milk out the fridge the other day as DH had chicken wings in there. Ugh! We are away on a sightseeing holiday tomorrow for a week, normally we would happily be out from dawn to dusk visiting historic sights. I fear this tiredness will keep me far closer to the hotel, however sooo looking forward to this hol. Don't think DH and I have had much quality time in the past 2 months as I've been so tired after work.

@mrskoloa: so nice you were able to see the little bean and hear the heartbeat! Do tell about the in home gender test
So exhausted today I feel like I could sleep the whole afternoon and wake up tomorrow. Ugh. LO is obviously not keen on that idea though so he's running circles around me. Lol

@wonderstruck: @bushelandapeck: The gender test is a urine test. Here it is: http://www.intelligender.com/home.html
It is supposedly most effective within the first 9-15 weeks. He showed me the data on it.
@Mrs tartan: My lmp was 12/23! We are the same.
@bunnylovesbear: I HATE ice dancing! Hahaha! I love everything else, though. I had a glass of prune juice last night... not too bad but my stomach was suspicious of it.
kiwi / 656 posts
@mrskoloa: test looks interesting, not for me unless it was 100percent accurate though, I can't imagine finding out 10 weeks later it was incorrect. In happy to do the old wives tales predictions that are free online though, although I've had both boy and girl!
Are any of you going to buy the gender test?
kiwi / 656 posts
@mrskoloa: good to know we are the same, my original Edd was 30th sep but my midwife changes it one day later as my cycle average was 30 days. I guess the scan will tell! When is your next scan? So if you are two days ahead of me, you must be 9 weeks tomorrow?! Wow, it's flying.
Also can't believe there is a November due date board!
cherry / 242 posts
@Mrs tartan: My next scan is March 19! When is yours? The wives tale I trust the most is the ring on the chain.

When's Your First Appointment?: 3/5
What kind of birth do you want?: an easy one?? Whatever results in a healthy baby and mama.
What You're Most Excited For: everything except labor!
What You're Most Scared About: Labor!

Sorry, no pics on this device, but I'll see what I can scare up later...

I am a bit further behind you ladies, as I estimate I am due November 5 th, but did you have excessive bloating?!?!? I am a healthy weight, small belly but I already could not fit into my jeans today!! I put them on this morning and was like ok a bit tight but they are ok, going to enjoy them for as long as I can.... Well my 900 I was so uncomfortable. If I did anything besides stand I was not in pain but not comfortable at all. As soon as I got in my car to go home I undid them. DH laughed at me. I am majorly bloated tonight. Have a round belly like I have never seen!! It's nuts!!

@MrsScottish: OMG yes! We have a family birthday party on Sunday and I'm seriously concerned that people are going to suspect. My brother saw me today and was like, "Whoa. You're already showing. But I probably wouldn't say that if I didn't know you were pregnant, I'd probably just assume you're still fat from the first one."
He's lucky I didn't hit him, because I am really embarrassed about how much I weigh compared to before I got pregnant with my son. But this bloating is out of control. The only way I've been able to stay in my normal jeans is b using the hair tie trick, then I just wear a long cami under my shirt to hide it.
kiwi / 600 posts
@Rocker2014: welcome and congrats! I'm from MA, too.
@MrsScottish: oh yes on the bloating! I'm concerned that when I go back to work next week (after Feb vaca), my coworkers are going to suspect things! Especially after not seeing each other for a week!
@wonderstruck: ha! I just lol-ed at your brother's comment! Guys just don't get it, huh?! I've already started with the hair tie trick, too.
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@bunnylovesbear: No, they really don't. Can you tell he's not married My DH would so know better than to say something like that, haha!
I'm so excited for Monday's appointment...well, except for the fact that I can't remember where I put the paperwork they mailed me. I spent ages filling it out! I guess tomorrow will be spent searching the house for it.
kiwi / 656 posts
@mrskoloa: I don't actually know yet, the scan date gets posted to my house but as I'm in holiday this week I won't get it until 1st march. I imagine somewhere close to your date though, midmarch. Exciting!
@Rocker2014: welcome and huge congratulations! @MrsScottish: oh yes me too, I haven't been able yo do my jeans up for about 3 weeks now. I am fairly small and thin anyway, my midwife said she would expect me to start showing very early. I'm so glad I'm off work this wek, I'm struggling holding my tummy in! I also do the hair band trick with a cami top and a loose top. Be a big relief to just tell everyone!
pomelo / 5720 posts
@MrsScottish: the bloating is worst for me in the evenings. I fin that all I can wear by that point is yoga pants. My jeans and work pants are pretty stretchy so I haven't had a lotnofntrupblenthere yet. I'm sure that will change over the next few weeks.
@wonderstruck: my appointment is Monday too! Do you get an ultrasound then too? I'm having one and I just can't wait!!
Not sure if I posted this but our NT Scan is scheduled for 3/26. I opted to do the testing even though we don't have any specific risk factors. It's always nice to see the little bean
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@wonderstruck: your brother has verbal diarrhea! Haha. On a serious note though, I'm beginning this pregnancy 20 pounds heavier than I began my last pregnancy and I'm not happy. I've been walking 3 miles a day on the treadmill and I've lost a little weight. I'm hoping to only gain 10 pounds max.
@mrskoloa: hey, R's heartbeat was always above 140 and she's a girl! My MIL was insistent that the old wives' tale is correct and the ultrasound techs would just roll their eyes.
kiwi / 656 posts
I was reading up on these old wives tales http://pregnancy.familyeducation.com/gender-predictor/old-wives-tales/70198.html?page=2
It says if you are having a girl she will steal your beauty and you will have lots of breakouts on your skin! I wonder if that will be true for those ladies who are struggling with their skin. Quite nice to think of a little girl stealing your beauty!
pomelo / 5720 posts
@Mrs tartan: nah, I had the same thing last time and we had a boy I'm guessing this one probably is as well. I'm toying with the idea of buying one of those gender tests @mrskoloa mentioned though, just for fun.

@bushelandapeck: you must have a beautiful boy
I'm going to try the wedding ring on string when I get home.

@Tidybee: Ugh, run run run from that doctor. At least you got a good rec for another doctor out of it. I think nurse recs for doctors are always really good because they see all sides of them not just the front they put up in front of patients. I really really hope things work out for you my dear! I will be keeping an eye out for you on future due date twin boards!!
@mrskoloa: How exciting!! I love ultrasounds (even though they kind of weird me out as well when the babies are in that weird stage where they always look like an alien or skeleton or something. Creeps me out but I still insist on looking at the ultrasound images anyway!)
