@bushelandapeck:
They will be 3 years and a couple weeks apart. My LO was born on October 11 and I'm due October 27.

@Becksabee: Due date twin!!! So far, anyway. I haven't been to the doctor yet but I calculated that based on when I ovulated.
Does anyone else have crippling back pain? I already have herniated discs in my lower back so I'm sure this is just exascerbating it, but oh my GOSH. I can barely walk around it hurts so much! And I know it's musculoskeletal because of how it feels and is dependent on movement. I have read about the hormone Relaxin loosening up your ligaments, but this soon? I hope it goes away or I won't be able to floor nurse anymore.

Hello everyone, and welcome to all of the new folks!
Apologies for being MIA the past few days, but man oh man has my morning sickness come in! I feel so guilty, but I spent about 90% of today in bed, and did next to nothing. The Mr and I have been eating way more prepared foods and takeout that we normally do, but I'm just too exhausted to cook.
Anyway, sending good thoughts and excitement to those with appointments tomorrow! Here's to good news all around! I'm still a week and a half from my first one, and I'm hoping the time goes quickly!

@Mrs.Panda: I hear ya on the back pain. I've had such a hard time with my sciatic nerve being pinched I've also had a really bad dry throat, it gets stuck together and it gags me.... it sucks but its a pretty good way to get me to drink water lol!

@Mrs.Panda: I'm having SPD issues already. My OBGYN said it should go away until the third trimester once everything settles down but I'm going to ask for PT. She said she would set it up for me if things weren't getting better. I had major issues today with it. Feel better!

@mrskoloa: I hear you on the ice dancing...I just don't understand how it's a sport! I totally get that it is difficult and takes loads of skill and practice, but an Olympic sport? I don't see it.
@Becksabee: Welcome!
@bushelandapeck: Good luck tomorrow! So jealous you're getting an u/s!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. My husband and I went out to celebrate our 3rd anniversary/Valentine's this weekend in the city. We went out to dinner in the North End, went to see Rain - A Tribute to the Beatles at the Wang, and then spent the night at the Ritz! It was so nice to get away and have a romantic date night together! Then today we had a family party to attend, and I was sooo nervous I was going to be called out on sporting a baby bump, so I made sure to remain seated most of the day, so no one would really have a chance to check out my belly! Ha!
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@bunnylovesbear: We had a family party tonight too, and I was so nervous about the same thing! No one said anything, so I was pretty happy about that. But right at the end, a cousin I'm very close to who just went through a miscarriage at 6 weeks and her fiance were venting to me about how it seems like there's babies and pregnant women everywhere and it's so hard, they can't deal with it, don't feel like seeing that stuff will ever not hurt, too scared to TTC again (although she already has 1 child that was a perfectly healthy pregnancy.) So yeah, I have no effing clue how to break the news to her when that time comes. And while I'm glad she feels she can talk to me about that stuff, why would you say it to your friend/cousin who has a baby and you know has been trying to get pregnant with another for several months now?
cherry / 249 posts
@wonderstruck: Ouch, what a tough situation! I have been on her side of things for many years and understand the bitterness and frustration and sadness that comes with it but I would never vent like that to someone who has a child and is known to be TTC as well no matter how close the friend/relative. I hope telling the news isn't too awkward for you or her when it comes time

@Ms.Pumpkin: sorry about the morning sickness! I hope the next week and a half flies by!
@bunnylovesbear @however briefly: thank you! I'll check back in once I'm at work. I couldn't sleep last night because I'm so nervous!

@however briefly: Thanks!! I really hope we get to hear the heartbeat today- maybe even an U/S! It's my first time at a new midwife office so I'm not sure what all they do at the first appt.
Good luck @wonderstruck and @bushelandapeck!

Back from my appointment! Everything looks great so far (Thank goodness). One baby, good looking sac, strong heartbeat. I'm measuring 7w5d because I ovulated late (first cycle post miscarriage) but I knew that was likely the case so I'm not worried. I'll feel better next week when I have my appointment at 9 weeks because we will have made it farther along than last time. I don't think I will be able to stop worrying for a while, but I think every week will make me feel a little better...
Here is the little bean
ETA: Please change my EDD to 10/8 please

@bushelandapeck: I can't wait to have my own. Not sure when that will be. It is the norm to only have one at 18-20 weeks.
pomelo / 5720 posts
@MrsScottish: Really? Wow. The standard here is usually one at 11-13 weeks to look for early risk, then another at 18-20 weeks. The first one is optional though.

@bushelandapeck: yeah, this is my first, have nt been to see my doc yet, but my sil has had 3 and only had the one ultrasound scheduled, along with friends I know who have had kids. Unless they had issues or had genetic testing they only had the one!! I wish I could have one earlier!! Might put my mind at ease.

@bushelandapeck: how exciting!!! lovely photo @however briefly: can you put me down for 3/7 for my ultra sound?
@MrsScottish: we have an u/s at our initial visit (to check heartbeat, etc) and then another one later on (to check gender and growth, development, etc). wish you could have one earlier...

@Mrs.Panda: oh yes, I have a slipped disc and around 4w I could barely walk. I started PT immediately and my pain has improved by leaps and bounds - I hope you feel better!!!
@bunnylovesbear: awww how romantic! Happy Anniversary!
@wonderstruck: ugh that's a complicated situation, Hopefully as your cousin she'll be able to be happy for you regardless
@bushelandapeck: great u/s photo! so glad it was a great visit!
@MrsScottish: wow that is a long wait
I'm sitting tight waiting patiently for 3/12 to roll around for my dating u/s - I just want reassurance that everything is moving in the right direction. Luckily I'll be 2 days short of 8 weeks which will mean that if it's good news we'll have progressed past our first loss. Amazingly, I feel very positive this time around

@wonderstruck: Yikes! That is a tough situation. I'm sure she opened up to you with her bitter honesty because she felt you can handle it.
@bushelandapeck: Glad to hear your appointment went well today!
@cmbknyc: Thank you!

@cmbknyc: I just got a referral to PT and started seeing a chiropractor yesterday. My PCP also gave me a low dose of Vicodin but I'm not going to take it because I feel like that's a little risky for baby. I am going to be going in for some injections every week with some natural pain relief medication (can't remember the name) for the next 6 weeks. Hopefully that helps. I'm throwing everything at this thing because I can't work like this. My PCPs wife I guess went through this too and she had to go on short term disability

@Rocker2014: thank you!
@bunnylovesbear: thanks and happy anniversary!!
@Mrs.Panda: oh no! I hope the PT and natural medication work for you, and quickly! That sounds awful.

I had a good appointment with new midwife yesterday- we liked her a lot, and she said I'm an ideal candidate for a VBAC.
However, we aren't quite as far along as we thought, measuring 5w6d yesterday, so we didn't get to hear heartbeat (but we did see yolk sac, which is healthy). Heading back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound, and will have a new due date then.
My DD woke up with the stomach bug this morning, REALLY hoping I don't get it! Happy Tuesday!

@LulaBee: glad to hear your appointment went well and you are a good candidate for vbac (if that was your preference)! My sister had one and had a good experience. I hope your LO is feeling better soon!
pomegranate / 3791 posts
Appointment update! Nothing too exciting since my ultrasound isn't until the 10th, but I liked my midwife. The office wasn't quite as nice as the one I went to last time, but they're moving in a few months, not that the office look is really a big deal, haha! I filled out a form so they can get my records from the other hospital, but as long as those records show I had the usual type of incision (which I'm 99.9% sure is the case) I should have no problem moving forward with a vbac. My c-section experience really went pretty smoothly, but I'm hoping to have as simple of a recovery as possible since I'll have a toddler at home, so I do think a vbac is what I'll be trying for.
The negatives were that since I'm having trouble losing the baby weight I officially have an overweight BMI, so they don't want me gaining as much weight this time. And due to the BMI combined with my dad having diabetes, I have to have a first trimester glucose test in addition to the third trimester one. I considered telling them no, but she said they can do it at the same time as my other bloodwork so that it's not an extra needle poke (I have a bad fear of needles), so looks like that will be happening in the next few weeks.
They have my due date down as October 10th just based on the date of my last period, although she agrees that my estimation of the 15th is likely more accurate considering that I know my ovulation date. But nothing is being changes around that for sure until I have my ultrasound in 2 weeks.

@however briefly: I'm sure it's going to be pretty awkward unfortunately, I think she's going to be very upset. And honestly, I think I'd feel differently if this was something she'd been struggling with long-term, but she has a 4 year old, and this pregnancy happened the second month they were NTNP and was likely a n early chromosomal abnormality, which while it's still sad the doctor said there's no reason that problem should repeat itself and he expect her to go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies. So if she never gets to the point where she can be even a little bit happy for me, and I spend the next 9 months walking on eggshells at all of our family events because of how upset she is, it's going to suck and I'm going to be pretty hurt.

@wonderstruck: @LulaBee: yay for fellow vbacs! My last lo was a c/s baby because she was breech so I am trying for a vbac as well

Did anyone else have an irrational fear of going in to take a confirmation test and it coming back negative? Even though there were lines on all three pee sticks I am scared of going to my appointment and them telling me I'm not pregnant... I'm making dh pick up another test for me so I can have some peace of mind lol!

(sorry participating in both OCt and NOv boards, I hope that is ok!!)
Finally got ahold of my doctor, going today at 310- need to get the blood work to see if I have previous exposure to Fifths disease (slap cheek) as it is going around my school. Pretty sure I do, but just to make sure. Also, the blood work will confirm my pregnancy and help me figure out what the plan is (can you tell type a first time pregnant!!!)
OH my the nausea has hit today! Make it stop!! I know it is a good thing, but trying to hold myself together in front of a bunch of rowdy grade 2/3 students is hard! I cant hide or stop!
I have had small snacks all day, ginger tea, ginger candies, currently eating crackers and a banana for lunch in my dark classroom! Leaving early to go to my doctors, excited but anxious!

I feel like I haven't checked in here in forever! I was away for work for two weeks and the stupid internet wasn't working with my ipad so I was on my phone most of the time when I was just goofing off and it is so hard to keep up with this thread on my phone!
It looks like several more people have joined in which is so exciting, I am looking forward to getting to know everyone better! It also looks like morning sickness is starting to show its ugly face for quite a few people.
While I was gone it hit me like a ton of bricks, I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital. My friend who is a nurse gave me an hour to keep down fluids before she took me in and I just barely made her cutoff and to be honest I probably should have gone in before that. I have thrown up every day but one for the past ten days so I am just counting down the days until the first trimester is over.
We are still waffling about a care provider which I know is ridiculous and I am probably over thinking it but apparently I just need something to obsess over and right now that is it. I did have an ultrasound right before I went away but it was still too early to see a heartbeat but everything was in the right place.
@MrsScottish: I don't know how you are managing that! I am a nanny and I taught for several years-- right now the idea of being in a classroom sounds like torture! At the end of the day today I was just miserable and sat down on the couch for a few minutes after the 2 year old had asked me to play and I felt so guilty but she was so sweet about it and brought me a blanket, tucked me in and made me "monkey tea" which was thankfully imaginary.
@cyndistar3: I was so afraid of that! Especially the first appointment I went to which I thought was just a meet and greet but turned out to be a first appointment but it was super early like 4w2d so I was petrified they were going to tell me to quit wasting their time! Turns out they didn't even bother, they just asked if I had a positive on multiple tests.

@MrsScottish: I'm a teacher as well. My MS with my first pregnancy was bad during the morning, waned during the school day and came back on in full force in the afternoon until bedtime. I did have some instances of nausea at school (thankfully I only vomited at home). Preggo (or Preggie?) pops were disgusting but they helped. Peppermints and ginger ale were my best friends. I bought sea bands and stuck them in my purse for this pregnancy. Feel better!

Hey guys! Just wanted to check in and say I had my ultrasound today. I am 8w3d just like we thought. We were able to see the heartbeat, but she couldn't count/time it, is that normal for this stage? The midwife wanted to do a vaginal u/s but I asked for a regular one, and she did it with a big fat sighhhh. She said 99% chance we won't be able to see it, and then the second she puts it on my belly the little bean popped up on the screen! Made my next couple appointments for genetic testing and whatnot.
I have been feeling terribly ill, and I am on a steady diet of ginger ale, candied ginger, and cereal. I bought sea bands yesterday and they help take the edge off. It is really REALLY hard to eat through the nausea, but that is the only thing that helps in the long run. I've lost 1lb. since my last appointment (which really means I just stayed the same) and the midwife said she would like to see me gain no more than 35#, which I am guessing is also about normal? Everything is so new, I feel like I have no idea what I am doing!

Feeling much better tonight. I forced down crackers, banana and water at lunch and within 30 mins I felt much better. I saw my gp today. She did initial bloodwork, rh ( I am o- so she wanted to confirm before my DH goes in) and urine. I phone tomorrow to book my pre natal with the secretdt. Not sure when that is. She said she would like to refer me to an ob, jut with my previous issues,
DH started talking about when to tell our parents. He wanted to go tonight!! So cute. My moms 60 th is in 2 weeks. I hoping to get to that and then work it into her present but give it to just my parents early. We have decided not to tell the rest of my film yet. I am 4 weeks tomorrow

@LulaBee: I'd love to hear more about why she thought you'd be an ideal candidate for a VBAC. I'm torn on what I want for this pregnancy since I've already had two c-sections.
@cyndistar3: YES! I know it's ridiculous since my last period was nearly two months ago, but I still have a irrational fear that when I go in for my appointment in a couple weeks, they'll be like, uhh...you're not pregnant!
@MrsScottish: totally fine to participate on both boards! Now that you mention it, I think I was exposed to fifths at the very beginning of this pregnancy (like before I even missed my period). And are you a teacher too? I teach fourth grade!
@swedishfish: You're a teacher too? What grade?
