@Ms.Pumpkin: the Chinese gender chart said girl for me, but only if I got pregnant in 3 months this entire year. January was one of them Hopefully I'll be able to confirm it Friday. DH asked about telling people before he left for work this morning and I told him I'm going to wait but he can tell people if he wants to preface it with "possibly". Lol. Not sure what he will end up doing.
I hope you find a daycare that you love and is affordable! It's really crazy what it costs....

I have my scan on May 23 which still feels like ages away. I really can't wait to find out, and also to see my baby again and hope everything is growing like it should. Does anyone else have a really hard time agreeing on names? My husband and I basically don't like any of the same names, and so almost every conversation turns into an argument. Anyway, we sort of have a top runner for both a boy and a girl, at the moment, but it really has taken forever. And we might each change our mind before the pregnancy is over.

@butterbean: I feel like I'm getting mine so late! I'll be 20 weeks and we'll be having it in the 28th. We already know the sex, so there isn't that anticipation, but I'm just so anxious to see her again and make sure she's growing well! Good luck on your scan!

@bushelandapeck: that's so funny! The Chinese chart said boy for me, so that didn't work out. I'm sure that you'll get the confirmation you need at your elective scan!

And I know we'll find a good situation for the baby, just looking at all options. A friend just emailed about her daycare, which is really expensive, but they taught her dd sign language at 9 mos, and more as a toddler she does weekly yoga and Spanish classes. Forget about LO, sign ME up!

@bushelandapeck: yay I thought a girl for you!
@ottilie: we are also really really struggling on names, our taste is so different, I don't know if there is a name where we will ever meet in the middle and both love it. I really hate everything DH has suggested so far, especially for boys. Bleugh.
@butterbean: my scan is on may 14th, ill be 20+2.
@cmbknyc: thank you for doing this, I was in desperate need of a reminder!

@ottilie: names have been so tough for us and yes, usually ends in some sort of argument. I think we have a couple we can kid of agree on so that's something...

@butterbean: I was 18w exactly for my scan yesterday.

@cmbknyc: thank you!!! I'll let you know tomorrow if we need to change it

@Mrs tartan: thank you!! I can't wait for your scan!

@Ms.Pumpkin: We've also begun to look into childcare options. My mom is currently our childcare provider which is awesome...it's free and super convenient because she lives 2 miles down the road. It also works so well because my husband works an off-shift, so it's baby-sitting doesn't totally take over my Mom's life. He has Mondays off and doesn't need to be at work until noon the rest of the week. so my son is with her from 11:30-4:30 Tuesday-Fri. She works from home, so she's able to get stuff done each morning before he gets dropped off, while he naps, and then after I pick him up, if needed.

My husband's shift is likely changing to 7am - 3pm soon, which is not something my Mom would be able to handle AND get her own work done. And naturally, adding baby#2 into the mix makes things a little trickier, as well. We've contacted a day care center and a home day care in our neighborhood. I'm also waiting to get some home day care info from a couple coworkers. It's just soooo expensive and we've been blessed (spoiled) with free day care so far, so it's going to be an adjustment.

@bushelandapeck: I feel like I always get different answers from the Chinese gender charts depending on which website I go to!

@ottilie: @butterbean: My a/s (although I'm team green) is next Monday, and I feel like it's so early! I'll be a day shy of 18 weeks.

@cyndistar3: Another girl? Congrats!! How's your husband taking the news? Didn't you mention earlier that he was hoping for a boy?

@cmbknyc: Loving the updated list. I didn't realize just how many Team Greeners there were! Stay strong, ladies!

We've definitely been talking a lot about names lately, but they haven't caused any arguments for us yet. We're in agreement on our boy name, but we're still undecided on our girl name...which is making me feel like it's going to be a girl! Lol.

Still no movement for me yet, either. I think I feel a flutter here and there, but it's usually after I eat, so it's probably just my food digesting! Anyone else feeling anything yet? When did it start? My sister is pregnant and due a little over a week before me, and she started feeling movement this week. With this being my third, I was expecting to feel it by now!

@Mrs tartan: My husband and I have different name tastes, too. I get to pick a girl name and he gets to pick a boy name, but what that really means is that he picks a name that I have to be satisfied with (Sam), while I go through an entire list of names that he vetoes (although admittedly they are a little different). Here is my potential list of girl names so far:

Coral, Pearl, Azalea, Lily, Lucy, Lola, Ginger, Delilah, Chloe, Olive, Olivia, Sophie, Sami

I am leaning towards Sami, simply because if Sam is ok for a boy then there's no where he can veto Sami for a girl. Besides, it was my childhood name based off of my middle name Sampagita, so it has some meaning.

@bunnylovesbear: I think I started feeling something that definitely felt a little different from gas moving around during my 18th week. I'm almost to my 20th week and have felt that same movement. I've only been able to get my husband to feel it once. Nothing regular though; I definitely don't feel like I have a little ninja in there yet.

@cmbknyc: I think that list is super cute!

@butterbean: I had my anatomy scan at 18 weeks and a couple days give or take. The baby didn't show us much, except for its back, but that's ok. It's just amazing to see something that looks more like a human and less like a blob. Plus it was kicking around; surreal!

@cyndistar3: aww a girl, lovely for your dds to have another sister. Less shopping! Is your DH wanting to try until you have a boy or happy with his 3 girls?
@bunnylovesbear: I felt something really undeniable about 4 days ago, so 18+5, now it's really strong but not all the time, which is nice as I'm sleeping through it!
@mrskoloa: love coral pearl and Sami! Do you have another scan or is that you now until the baby is here?

  13. Ms.Pumpkin

    apricot / 435 posts

@cyndistar3: 3 girls! My best friend is one of 3 sisters, and they all have the most amazing bond. Really an amazing thing to see.

@ottilie: We've been talking names, but I'm almost worried that we haven't been arguing all that much, if that makes any sense? Our tastes are really different, I am drawn to quirky, old fashioned names, and he loves more popular names. So we're trying to find uncommon names that have fairly "normal" nicknames. We've got a shortlist, but it could definitely change before she's here!

@bunnylovesbear: I hear you on the crazy expense of daycare! It will definitely require a budget adjustment, for sure!

I'm 17, almost 18 weeks here, and have just started feeling a twitchy, fluttering sensation... maybe it's baby? It's so intermittent that I can't be totally sure, but it feels different from all the other rumblings going on! I hope that in the next week or so I'll know for sure!

@Mrs tartan: Yea less shopping! Im excited to reuse a bunch of stuff! Caidence wanted a boy too haha but I think she will be okay. Honestly I have no idea what will happen, dh says he wants to adopt a boy but we are still so young it's hard to say if we will have more of our own children or not

@Ms.Pumpkin: I really do hope that the three of them can be close!

@Mrs tartan: The gender reveals definitely make it more difficult to stay Team Green, but I promise you it's worth it!!

@bushelandapeck: Exciting!!! Any new pictures to share?

@Ms.Pumpkin: Oh yes, a definitely budget adjustment! I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that we probably can't swing the Day Care up the street for two kids, and that we'll have to go the home day care route. It's about $400 less a month for the home day care... wah.

@mrskoloa: Lily was one of the names we were considering when I was pregnant with my son...except I like it spelled Lilly (2 Ls).

How is everyone feeling this week? Did you have a nice Mother's Day??

We had the most beautiful weather so we spent much of the day outside. We went for a hike in the morning, played in the yard and grilled on the deck for dinner. DH helped DS paint me a letter "K" (for my first name) and they made me breakfast in bed. I wish everyday was Mother's Day

  22. Ms.Pumpkin

    apricot / 435 posts

@bushelandapeck: That sounds lovely! The weather here was gorgeous as well, and while I had errands to run, as I was heading out the door with purse and car keys in hand, I caught my next door neighbor sitting on her front porch. 3 and a half hours later, I still hadn't run those errands... but the chat was really lovely!

I have one question for those who are further along than me, and who have had a child before- when did your belly go?

I've been in the pudgy/ate too much zone for weeks, and it's been possible to conceal that. However I think that over the weekend (when I turned 18 weeks), things just kind of pushed out, and now I've got a belly that I can't really suck in at all! My weight gain is pretty much in the range that all the guides say is normal for this time, so I'm just wondering if I've simply run out of room, and can only grow out now! I'm tall, but have a really short torso, if that makes a difference.

Anybody noticeably pregnant at this point? I keep hearing stories of women who didn't show until after 20 weeks, and I am a little worried that this isn't normal!

  23. Mrs tartan

    kiwi / 656 posts

@bushelandapeck: in the UK Mother's Day was 6 weeks ago so this weekend was no different here, your day sounds cute though.
@Ms.Pumpkin: this is my first baby but I'd say around week 17 I couldn't hide it anymore, I'm 20 weeks today and really only in the past few days have I massively 'popped' out. People still tell me I could get away with it if my top wasn't a tight fit though, I feel pretty big already though!

Have all of you done the Facebook announcement now?
I'm going to do it on wed after the 20 week scan. I wasn't going to but now that my bump is noticeable I can't be bothered having to explain and see the shock on everyone's face when I see acquaintances on the street.
All friends and family have known for weeks.

  25. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@Ms.Pumpkin: This is my second so I think I'm showing a little sooner than before but only within the past week has it been noticeable to those that know me well. I don't think most people would think I am pregnant yet. I'll be 19w on Weds.

@Mrs tartan: We made a FB announcement yesterday as part of my Mother's Day shout-out to my mom (who is also on FB) but we did not reveal the gender. I'm thinking I'll probably wait until 20+ weeks for that, though we ave already told all of our close friends and family.

  26. Ms.Pumpkin

    apricot / 435 posts

@Mrs tartan: Feeling big might be a part of it- I feel enormous, and people who see me all the time have been able to tell for weeks now, but I don't know if I'm reading as "pregnant" or "fat" to strangers... and that's just not the kind of question you ask someone on the train.

As for Facebook, I don't think we're going to announce... Mr.P is really not in favor of public FB announcements (he's just a very private guy), and while he wouldn't have an issue with me making an announcement, I don't know that I'm going to bother if it's just me making the announcement. It would be convenient just for being able to let everyone know all at once, though, so I do see the appeal!

  27. Ms.Mermaid

I was very anti-facebook announcement originally, but I think we will make one after the 20 week scan. I was waiting to hear back from a couple of job interviews, and was planning to keep interviewing, but my office is being super-generous about maternity leave (they have to give me 6 weeks, they are giving me 12 weeks, more than half of which is paid, and paying me for Thanksgiving/xmas holidays), so I'm going to scale back on my job search but we'll be recruiting volunteers to help in our office to help out while I'm gone, so I do actually want to be able to ask people for that on Facebook, and we need to start crowdsourcing for daycares/pediatricians, etc. My anatomy scan is scheduled for June 12 (stay strong @Mrs Tartan!) so I think we'll make an announcement around the end of June.

Well, we had our scan today. All is well and baby is growing at a good rate....nice, strong heatbeat (145bpm) as well. The tech told me my placenta is on top, which could explain why I'm not feeling movement yet. It was a huge relief to see the little bean flailing all over the place...I was getting a little anxious about it.

@Ms.Pumpkin: I am only 16 weeks but I have a pretty noticeable small bump, however I had surgery to have my gall bladder removed a couple years ago and my abdominal wall never really fully recovered which I believe is why I'm showing so early.

@Mrs tartan: that's my main motivation for announcing on Facebook, as well. Just get it all done in one fell swoop, lol well that and we're also just excited we'll probably announce this week both gender and pregnancy

@Ms.Pumpkin: I'm about to be 18 weeks. No one has commented on my belly yet - while it's obvious to me, I think for others it's still in the range where I could just be heavier and carry my weight in my belly (which I do, actually!)

You guys are killing me with all these girls!! Love my boys and my son is so much fun but ughhhh I'm jealous. I'll admit it. I've pretty much already said eff our two kids limit, haha. But anyways, my next doctor appointment is on Thursday...I'm ready for it! For some reason I've been a lot more anxious with this pregnancy about something going wrong. I keep having really vivid nightmares about miscarrying and it freaks me out. I've felt movement a few times but nothing consistent yet, so I'm looking forward to hearing the heartbeat again.

Today is my son's first birthday! So that's very exciting, I can't believe I have a one year old! In some ways it went by crazy fast, and in other ways I feel like he's been here forever because I just can't imagine my life without him Sharing a pic even though it has nothing to do with the October babies, haha! Just because I'm a proud mommy and can't believe he's so big! Hard to imagine having two little guys running around very soon!

@wonderstruck: Oh, but just look at that little bub! Happy birthday! And happy birthday to you, Momma! I always felt that first birthdays were just as much a celebration of survival for new parents as they were a celebration of the child themselves!

And I totally hear you on the anxiety- this may be TMI, but I was just reminded of a crazy dream I had the other night where I started bleeding like crazy, but the blood was bright magenta (what the heck?). I'm about 2 weeks out from my next appointment & anatomy scan, so it'll be nice to get that HB confirmation as well!
