@cmbknyc: thank you! And congrats on your little girl
@wonderstruck: awww happy birthday to your little guy, he is adorable!
I was planning on announcing gender but as I was telling my closer family it just didn't feel quite right yet so we are going to wait until our final ultrasound to announce I had my first massage yesterday and it was definitely interesting, I enjoyed it but I am a bit sore today as she predicted.

20 week scan today. I stayed team green!!! I'm pretty sure I saw a teeny little willy when she was studying the feet up, but that's just me guessing, it may have been the cord. Baby is gorgeous, crazy active, kicking the crap out of me and measuring exactly as s/he should
kiwi / 630 posts
@Mrs tartan: look at that perfect gorgeous picture! It was probably the cord bec I was was positive a saw a penis, as well, (we asked for her to write the gender in an envelope and opened it privately) and I was wrong lol WOOHOO you stayed strong!!!!

@Mrs tartan: So proud of you for staying GREEN!!
So I'm kinda freaking out, ladies. I got a call from my doctor's office when I was on my way home from work today. They said that the ultrasound showed a choroid plexus cyst, which she explained was a cyst on the brain! She reassured me that I most likely have nothing to worry about, and that it is relatively common. She also reassured me that because all my testing that was done earlier in the pregnancy came back as super low risk, it's probably nothing... but I can't help but worry that something is wrong!! The plan of action is that they are going to schedule a Level 2 ultrasound for me. The lab at the hospital was closed by the time they talked to me today, so they are calling in the morning it set it up for (hopefully) next Monday. Has anyone had any experience with this?
apricot / 435 posts
@bunnylovesbear: Oh, that sounds so incredibly stressful! I haven't got any experience, but my fingers are crossed that this really is nothing, and that they're just being extra cautious.
Hope you can get into the office for an additional ultrasound soon!
kiwi / 600 posts
@Ms.Pumpkin: I'm trying my best not to consult Dr. Google. I read a few things while DRIVING home after getting the phone call, totally not a wise move - for both my safety and my sanity! The worst part is, I haven't even told my husband yet - he works til 8pm, got home about 30 mins later, ate dinner, and then went to meet a friend to watch the last period of the Bruins game. siiigh.
nectarine / 2358 posts
@bunnylovesbear: I wish I could remember who did, but I believe a Bee recently posted about this same finding in her ultrasound and it turned out to be nothing. A lot of other bees came out and told her their stories, which were all fine too. Thinking of you!! How stressful...
kiwi / 656 posts
@bunnylovesbear: no experience either, but just wanted to say thinking of you. A friend of mine recently tested extremely high on her NT scan and after a level 2 scan and the amniocentesis came back all clear the ultrasound lady said sometimes early testing just throws up incorrect results.
I hope your test was just too early. Stay strong.
pomelo / 5720 posts
@bunnylovesbear: no experience with that but we did have some things show up on DS anatomy scan that were concerning. Everything ended being just fine but it was scary! I hope your level 2 scan shows that everything is okay. Will be thinking of you!!

@bunnylovesbear: no experience but just wanted to offer my support!! Thinking of you and hoping for a great outcome

@Mrs tartan: Yay! Team Green ftw! Our radiologist was so funny; he kept referring to the baby as a boy, even though we had told him that we didn't want to know the gender. I pointed it out to him and he said, "Oh no! I'm so sorry, I have three sons so all of these babies are boys to me when I don't know the gender." We have cousins who just had their scan and did that envelope thing, but apparently the radiologist could "tell" right away what gender it was, which left them assuming that it was a boy. Wrong! When they released their balloons, it was a girl!
@bunnylovesbear: Hoping everything is fine!
In other news, my Britax B-Agile travel system came in the mail today, and I LOVE IT. It's SO light, even the car seat! The only thing I am a little worried about is the size of the basket, since it seems a little on the small size, but that's ok. I can just get one of those giant carabiners to hang a diaper bag off of, or even a bag that comes with stroller hooks.

Thank you for all the support, ladies. I was finally able to talk to my husband about it on the phone this afternoon. Of course, he stuck working late tonight though. We're both doing our best to remain calm, and I totally sold it to him as it being no big deal.
Our Level 2 ultrasound is scheduled for Tuesday at 1pm at our hospital, so I'm looking forward to that. They weren't able to schedule the appointment at a time that worked for me, so I'm going to have to talk to my boss tomorrow about either taking the afternoon off or taking the whole day. kinda bummed about that.

@bunnylovesbear: That's a pain that they couldn't get you in to work with your schedule, but it's so good to hear that they're getting you in soon-ish! Keeping you in my thoughts!

@Ms.Pumpkin: the fact that they are getting me in so quickly is my saving grace. Monday would've been better, but my husband was able to switch shifts at work to make sure he could be there. I def couldn't do this one without him.

@mrskoloa: I had a bag that want underneath and it was a pain...I now have one with straps that can attach to the handle bar and it is SO much better.
@bunnylovesbear: glad your husband can be there with you! Bummer that the time is lnt convenient for your work schedule. Hopefully they understand.
I can't believe we are all almost halfway there! This pregnancy has really gone by so much faster than my first one did. I'm starting to feel like I should start planning/decorating. Anyone else starting to think about the nursery? Any good inspiration ideas? I have a hidden Pinterest board but I haven't found any feminine nurseries that I love. I'm drawn to more gender nuetral designs, which is what we did with DS too. How about names? Anyone narrowed it down yet? DH and I haven't really talked too much about it but we have a few we like.
cherry / 242 posts
@bushelandapeck: I was googling nursery photos last night. I'm not sure how much I want to decorate. My husband and I are simple people.
I think we've narrowed it down to Sam for a boy and Sami for a girl.

@mrskoloa: great news that you love your travel system, what colour is it?
@bunnylovesbear: can't wait to hear your update on Tuesday, ill be thinking of you this weekend, what a stressful time. Glad DH is bring supportive too.
@bushelandapeck: our nursery is almost complete, just to buy a cot! We had to redecorate anyway as we bought our house in October and everything needed done. We have a Winnie the Pooh yellow nursery, it is beautiful! Honey pots and bees on the walls, soft cream curtains and white furniture. My favourite thing is a soft white leather nursing rocking chair and stool, most expensive purchase so far but I imagine ill live in it for a year
We are still deliberating names but top of the list today is Oscar for a boy and ayla for a girl.
cherry / 242 posts
@Mrs tartan: we just got black. It's the easiest that way. We bought a rocker, too, for the living room! Also, I love both of those names! Oscar for my love of "The Office" (US) and Ayla for "Clan of the Cave Bear"!
pomelo / 5720 posts
@Mrs tartan: man, I feel so behind now! Lol. Gotta get on te nursery I guess we had DS in our room for te first 5.5 months which is probably why I'm not feeling a ton of pressure but I definitely want it done before she gets here. DS nursery is pretty simple too, so I'm sure this one will be the same. We need a new crib, dresser and rocker since we will be leaving DS in his room, but that's about it. The room is already painted yellow so I have to work with that, which shouldn't be too hard. Love the names you have chosen!
@mrskoloa: love the names! Simple and sweet we have good friends with a son named Samuel and they call him Sam/Sammy and it's so cute!
apricot / 435 posts
@bushelandapeck: I know! The halfway point is kind of terrifying, haha. The room we're using as a nursery is basically my storage room, where I put all of my extra stuff after moving in a few years ago. I'm just realizing that I'm going to have to start cleaning it out! I'm going to put a couple of movies on my laptop this weekend and see what I can get done.
We haven't really been buying much yet- although we did just buy a crib because it was on sale! Guess that's as good a place as any to start!
To those who are buying car seats- did you try them out beforehand in your cars to make sure they'd fit? We've both got smaller cars, and since we're city folk, we really don't want to be getting SUVs or larger cars at the moment. I've tried parallel parking SUVs for friends, and I'm not interested in doing that on a daily basis! I've heard that some stores will let you take a sample to install in your car as a test? If you did that, how did it go?
As for names, I'm actually a little worried that we're not having more of a difficult time on this! We're really liking Eloise for a first name, and all attempts to find other names to put on the list just come up short. We don't like them nearly as much.
Middle names are a different story though! One option is Jean, which is my middle name and my Grandmother's first name. Another option is to combine my Mother's name (Lynn), with a Vietnamese name after DH's Mom's name- she and all of her sisters have names that start with Xuan (pronounced kind of like "soon"), which means Spring. So MIL is Xuan-Hoa, or Spring Flower. There is a Vietnamese name Linh, which is pronounced the same as my Mom's name. So she could also have Xuan-Linh or Xuan-Lynn as a middle name.
It would be nice to have a Vietnamese middle name, and to honor both of the Grandmothers, but we'll see.

@Ms.Pumpkin: my stroller came with the britax b-safe seat, and it fits fine in my 2013 rav4... Not sure what kind of car you have

@bushelandapeck: Work totally understands...I have plenty of days, but I was trying to save them for my maternity leave! As a teacher, in order to be paid for your leave, you need to have the days saved up. I have enough saved for my leave next school year, but I won't have very many days left when I return.
@bushelandapeck: I'm starting to think a bit more about the nursery. My MIL recently mentioned that she wanted to purchase our crib...I'm thrilled! She bought J's crib, but I didn't realize that it would be a repeat purchase for each addition child! She had said she wanted to buy the cribs for all her grandchildren, but i still didn't expect it for some reason. We recently had my 13-yr old switch rooms with our son since our son will be sharing a room with the new baby. We still need to swap out the stuff in the closets, which is a huge pain. My husband installed closet organizer in our daughter's room, so we just need to add a coat of paint and she'll be able to officially move the rest of her stuff. THEN, I can start thinking about the nursery. It has lime green walls, which luckily matches our son's bedding. I may just buy the same set for the new baby since we are Team Green again. This is the set. It's bright, cheery, and fun. We had a Beatles theme for J's nursery, so we'll probably reuse all that stuff in the new room.
@Mrs tartan: Sounds lovely...share some pics!
I'm loving the name ideas so far. We've decided on our boy name, which I think I've already mentioned: Zachary Michael. We like traditional names, and Michael is in honor of my husband's best friend. We would love to have him as the Godfather, but my MIL would never forgive us if we didn't choose family. Lol. Girl names are still up in the air...I'm liking Allie Mae right now. But we still have others on the list: Aubrey, Josephine, and Elizabeth (Lizzie) are some other contenders. My husband is convinced it's a boy, so he's not too worried! Lol. In my mind, that makes me think it's a girl!!

@bunnylovesbear: Glad you'll be getting answers soon and that it doesn't usually mean anything serious, but I'm sorry you're having a scary few days waiting to find out! I'll be thinking of you guys on Tuesday.
@bushelandapeck: This pregnancy is going by a lot faster for me too - probably because I already have a little one to keep up with! I love planning nursery stuff, but I have more trouble with boy nurseries. My son has a futuristic nursery - grey walls, and one of them has a pattern painted on it made up of a bunch of triangles (it's styled after Spaceship Earth in Epcot if you've ever been there) with lots of bright red, blue, and green accents in graphic patterns like chevron, fun retro posters from Tomorrowland (also part of Disney), and stuffed animals that fit in with those parts of Disney (Stitch, Monsters Inc, Wall-e, etc.) We have decided (okay, I've decided...DH doesn't care) that this one will be Adventureland-themed, so kind of a combo of a jungle and pirates theme. I haven't actually gotten anything for it yet though - it will be much easier once my mom is on summer vacation and can help out with my son while I get stuff done in that room.
@Mrs tartan: My mom is in love with Winnie the Pooh nurseries, she'd love yours! The glider sounds very nice, that is one of the few things I didn't buy last time that I really regretted not getting - I think I'll also splurge this time around.
@Ms.Pumpkin: For infant car seats I've never found a need to test them beforehand - it's the convertible seats where that becomes a concern because they're much larger. We'll just be re-using our Safety 1st infant seat from our first son (perks of having 2 under 2 - all your equipment is still fairly new!)
@bunnylovesbear: Um, I cannot let my husband see your post because he would be so jealous! In his perfect world we would be using the name Zachary and having a Beatles-themed nursery, hahaha. And I love that bedding, it's so fun!
I already shared our name pick - Declan (I'm afraid to put the middle name for fear of someone googling his first+middle combo and finding my HB account, but it's my DH's first name. Starts with a Aa, common boy's name, I'm sure you can figure it out ) DH's top choice was Zachary, which I also liked but since I know at least 10 guys named Zach, I couldn't do it. My top choice was Benjamin, but DH says it's an old man name (WTF? No, it's not!) Declan was 2nd place for both of us, so that's our compromise.

Oh, and I almost forgot....I got an AMAZING deal this week on a double stroller! I'm so excited about it One of my mama friends who I met on weddingbee in the May 2013 baby group lives right by the Baby Jogger factory, and she was able to get me a City Mini Double at their warehouse sale for $135!!! I'd been lusting after that stroller but couldn't justify the price. I'm in love with it, here's a pic:

@Mrs.Panda: It is, I've heard such great things about this brand! It just worked out perfectly that we're planning a group vacation to Chicago next month, so she'll bring it with her and we can use it for both of our little ones while we're there, and then I'll bring it home with me!
kiwi / 745 posts
@Wonderstruck I'm so jealous! I saw the thing about the sale and was like "who do I know in Richmond????" but...nobody. I really want their XT jogger, I think, but we may go with the City Mini GT if it folds up smaller (teeny tiny rowhouse).
@Bushelandapeck We also have an already yellow room for a nursery. I think we're going with an underwater/sea theme. I've been sort of looking for a fabric I can use as an inspiration and to tie everything together. If I knew I was having a girl, I would go with fabrics like this one - https://www.fabric.com/buy/0302067/urban-zoologie-flannel-giraffes-pastel or this one https://www.fabric.com/buy/0302064/urban-zoologie-flannel-birds-sweet or the hippos https://www.fabric.com/buy/0302043/urban-zoologie-hippos-spring and then go from there!

@wonderstruck: Haha! That is too funny! I'll have to search for the thread with pics from when we finished my son's nursery. I think it's on wedding bee. Actually, I'll go look now...
Yup! Here is it!! http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/our-beatles-inspired-nursery/#axzz31zJdCQ1k
We don't personally know any Zachary's, so it's a good name for us. I've had two Zachary's in my class at school, and I adored both of them, so the name hasn't been tarnished. As a teacher, names can be tough and get ruined easily. Lol.
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@bunnylovesbear: Oh, that's adorable! I did actually tell DH that we could do a Beatles theme this time if he wanted to since he let me do Disney last time, but he said that I care about the nursery design far more than him and gave me the go-ahead to do another Disney room. I get really excited about planning the room and finding the perfect little touches. This is the bedding we're using this time: http://www.disneystore.com/the-jungle-book-crib-bedding-set-for-baby-personalizable/mp/1348055/1000327/

@wonderstruck: very cute!! I love your Disney theme...especially since your other LO already has one! It's very clever to focus on different areas of the park for each room!

@mrskoloa: Good to know! We've got a Corolla and a Mazda3 hatchback. I've also been looking at Britax, so it'll be nice to see it in person!
@wonderstruck: That looks like a great deal on the stroller! I'm glad to hear that infant seats aren't too much of a problem. I think we may stop by a store to "test drive" some strollers, just to see what works for us! And it's a good point to consider the 2 under 2 issue- due to how late we're having kids, if we end up having a second, it'll be fairly close together! Also something to consider in strollers- perhaps something that can convert from a single to a double, like some of the Britax strollers?
Loving all of the names that people are considering! This is making everything so much more real!
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@Ms.Pumpkin: I would definitely think about getting one that converts to a double - I wish I'd thought to do that last time!
