Updated. I think I got it right. I might have mixed up the Feb & the March dates (whoops)... Let me know if I need to fix it. I have about another 3 hours to fix it before the window to edit closes.

I'm 4w2ds today and my first appt is 3/5 with my OBGYN do y'all think that is too long? I have an appt on 2/17 with my primary, but it's really for a prescription refill (don't worry it is something that is a-ok to take when pregnant).
Thoughts?

@babybronco: that sounds about right! You'll be about 7 weeks for your appt right?
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@babybronco: I think it's fine. I thought OBs usually like to see you between 6-8 weeks. Some of us who are still at RE's, they like to see us earlier and then they'll graduate us in a few weeks and let us see OB's. My RE told me to call my OB so I can be put on their schedule since they book up. I called them (my OB) today but I have to wait for my records to be transferred from my RE before they'll schedule me at the OB. Seems odd to me. I thought they would put me on the schedule and I would make sure my records are faxed before my appt. So I'm waiting for my RE to email me to records release form... waiting... Then I'll fax it back to my RE and then they'll release my records. I have no idea when my OB will call me back. Hopefully soon, so I can be seen I'm 6-8 weeks.

@hilsy85: 7w5d it'll be my first first appointment. My doctor is awesome and he's going to be so excited for us.
Storytime:
My doc always has med students with him. They always ask if it is ok, sure I don't care. Well, if you couldn't tell, I'm a jokester. One day the doc had a med student and as the med student took a look at me through the speculum and stuck his fingers in there (oh goodie, twice in one visit). I said "welcome to my vagina!!!" Everyone got a good laugh.
A few years later I was in for my yearly. And i could hear my doc telling the med student outside the door that one time he had a patient that said "welcome to my vagina" as soon as they came in I said "doc!! That was me!" Everyone laughed and he said "you need to get pregnant so I can see you more often" and then he gave me a hug and I completely forgot i was wearing a paper shirt.
I hope I can laugh through delivery...

@bluestriped bee: No ultrasound, just heartbeat and general check for me on the 16. Unfortunately, I have to wait until 18-20 weeks for my ultrasound! I'm taking it as a good and bad thing since I know that means I'm not high risk, it's just hard since I had one at 8 weeks with LO to make sure she was okay.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@BelugaBean: oh, you can check the heartbeat without the ultrasound? I must watch too many movies. I thought that was the only way to do it. Haha. First time mom...
pomegranate / 3516 posts
@bluestriped bee: Yep, they're just going to use the doppler. They checked the heartbeat at every appointment I had from 12 weeks until the end with LO.
kiwi / 611 posts
@bluestriped bee: You can buy a Doppler to use at home too! I got one when I was pregnant with DS and I was able to find his heartbeat around 10 weeks. It was seriously the best purchase I made my entire pregnancy. Anytime I worried about anything with the baby, I could just listen to his heartbeat and make sure everything was ok. It was especially reassuring before his movements became regular and predictable.
I went in today for my second beta and should have results tomorrow. I can't wait to hear what the numbers are! We have an appointment scheduled on 3/4 and I'm pretty sure I'll have an ultrasound then.

@babybronco: haha! Too funny!
@BelugaBean: @jodyblair: oh, cool, a Doppler. Good to know.

@hilsy85:@natalie403: Congrats ladies!!
@babybronco: your baby monkey comment cracked me up!!
@BelugaBean: dang! First u/s is at your anatomy scan?? Holy moly! I'd go bananas! Like you said, that's great that means you're low risk, but dang!

is anyone else asthmatic? I am and it has been fine for years, all of a sudden, last night it flared up. I didn't take my inhaler, because I didn't know if I could!
Super weird.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@babybronco: Not an asthmatic but my DH has severe asthma. Hoping our baby get's my lungs.
I would call your OB ASAP and ask them if you can continue using your inhaler. I'm not a doctor, but I would think the dr would want your breathing to be controlled so that the baby is getting all the oxygen it needs to develop. I've seen my DH struggle through an asthma attack and if it were me, I would want to do what's best for both me and the baby. I think albuterol is safe, but I would probably want my dr to confirm. Hope your Dr responds to you soon. Also, I hope your attacks aren't too bad.

@bluestriped bee: Thank you! that's a great article. I'm calling my doc in a bit. I usually can clear it up with some caffeine, so my morning cup of joe seems to be clearing it up.
Don't worry! I only have one small cup of coffee everyday. I checked with my ob and they told me one cup was no problem.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@babybronco: Oh, yup. I know all about the caffeine trick because of my DH.
No judgment here on the caffeine. I think it's fine in moderation.
So glad the caffeine helped your asthma.

I'm going to blame the baby brain? that's going to be my excuse for the next 9 months.

@babybronco: No asthma, so no help there, but hope your OB is of help! I have a 1-2 cups of coffee every day, I think it's perfectly fine
@jodyblair: FX for great numbers today!
How's everyone feeling today? I have a weird acid feeling in my stomach that wont go away.

@NovBaby1112: Oh I'm sorry about your tummy! Try drinking or eating something that lines your stomach before you eat the rest of your food or take your prenatals?
I feel more awake today! But more gassy feeling... so that's fun. I had spotting starting on Saturday. Scared the ba-jeesus out of me. Called the doc, said not to worry. Just a little today.

@NovBaby1112: I feel really blah. Hungry, but queasy too.
squash / 13764 posts
@NovBaby1112: oh my god so exhausted today...I just took an hour long nap and feel a little better, but after getting 9 hours of sleep last night, I didn't think I would feel this tired.
Does lemon water help with your queasiness? That usually helps me...

@Alivoo01: I know, it's going to drive me crazy!
I've had a tough, long day. I'm not even sure if I have symptoms because I've been sick. We had all been on the mend but then last night, LO woke up at 2:45 and then every 30 minutes after that until 7. She slept on me from 7-9 but I've more or less been up since 2:45.
My doctor called too and said I have mild hypothyroidism and needed to pick up a prescription. I turned to Google of course which was a terrible idea. Plus, I went to pick up the prescription an hour after I talked to them and it wasn't sent in yet. So I had to call back and have it sent and now have to take LO who can barely stay awake for 5 minutes to the pharmacy again.
On top of that, I had a book club I was supposed to go to tonight and I really loved the book and was wanting to get out. But I'm just so tired. Pregnancy fatigue, getting up so early, and all the stress will probably have me in bed early so I think I need to skip it. Such a small thing but so disappointing with all of the hormones!
cherry / 126 posts
@BelugaBean: Oh you poor thing. I'd say go to the book club if you can. Just to get your mind on something else.
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@babybronco: sorry to hear about the spotting- that is stressful, but I'm sure everything is fine and your OB is right that some spotting is totally normal ...hopefully it stops soon for you!
@hilsy85: oh wow, you must have been so tired! I haven't been hit by any exhaustion yet. that's the good thing about staying home I bet- getting to nap a little! But I feel like I would also be a million times more tired being home with my energetic kid all day too Lemon water sounds really good now, going to check!
@BelugaBean: so sorry about your rough night! I hope LO sleeps better for you tonight. I don't know much about hypothyroidism, but hoping the meds help!
pomegranate / 3516 posts
@babybronco: I would, I'm just so tired today. I have a night out next week with the same people so I do have that to look forward to!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@NovBaby1112: The excessive hunger went away this week. Still hungry but not as bad as last week where I would think about food every second. Still cramping but it's comes and goes. It happens, at least, once or twice a day. Still tired. I usually fall asleep on my vanpool trip in the morning and definitely passed out cold for the PM trip. Then I usually fall asleep watching tv at home then I'll wake up around midnight take my pills and progesterone shot and go back to bed. Today, I need to go to Costco and DH said he will go with me. I usually go to Costco 1-2x a week, I haven't been back for a whole 3 weeks (shocked!). LOL! I'm wondering if I should get myself to be more active in the evening because at this rate, I might stay this lazy and do nothing around the house for the next 9 months plus after the baby comes.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@NovBaby1112: Exhausted!! Normal fatigue plus DS running a fever last night = zero sleep for everybody. woohoo!! lol
@BelugaBean: Boo on hyperthroidism, but the dr caught is so now you're on the mend! What book did you just finish reading? I love reading, but haven't read since finding out I was pregnant on Friday. Too tired too read. Never thought that'd happen, but I'm sure DH is so thankful I'm not reading every chance I get. Ha!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@babybronco: I'm wearing dark (black) underwear because of the estrace pills I have to insert up there... so I don't think I would see any spotting if I did have it. The estrace pill is green so I didn't want it to stain my light colored underwear. Hmmm, maybe I should switch to something other than black underwear. TMI- I did have a lot of discharge or CM last night and I peeked to see if it was just CM. As for as I could tell, it was just CM.
cherry / 126 posts
@bluestriped bee: panty liners! I have to wear them not for the spotting but for the CM. If I don't I swear I can smell myself with pants on. (talk about TMI) crazy pregnancy nose!
Also... I have some cramping too. Nothing to be concerned about, but it is there.

Hi ladies! Thanks for the warm welcome Lindsay has said such wonderful things of you!! My 3rd blood test was today and was 1520!!! Going again on Thursday and assuming I've surpassed 2000 my first ultrasound will be next week ahhhh!!
I had a meltdown last night because I had weird cramps on my side/kind of into my back and it freaked me out... likely was just gas *phew* Feeling relieved that my numbers kept rising

@natalie403: I know what you mean. I've never been so relieved to have gas!
