@MrsRcCar: do you have any babysitters you could hire? Especially for when this baby comes? We live far from family but I have a nanny when I work -not cost effective, but mandatory with how much my husband works.

@winniebee: I have one friend near by. My family will come for a bit when the new baby comes. Plus DH should be able to take some time off.

Anybody else feel like they're totally drowning right now? I'm still so tired and icky-feeling (best way I can describe my version of morning sickness, ha!) and work + keeping up with my house + keeping up with my toddler is about to kill me.
Bring on some semblance of energy soon, am I right?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@mfa_lady: Yes. Our nanny called in sick yesterday and I almost cried because I'm so behind at work and at home! My worst time of day is 2-3 pm. I can't keep my eyes open. The house is a mess, I'm up 2x a night to pee, and I can barely choke down breakfast. The toddler has a cold and is being a beast! Last pregnancy the ickiness started subsiding at 10.5 weeks....so I just keep telling myself 2 more weeks of feeling this bad. Also, baby steps. I have another ultrasound Monday so just keep thinking about that, then a week later Maternity21 test.

@winniebee: Ugh, so sorry you're experiencing the same--but glad I'm not the only one. Our sitter emailed last night with two days next month she needs off, and it just about killed me. And that's with a month's notice! I'm to the point where I'm considering telling work sooner rather than later because I feel like I need to explain myself, you know? BLAH. We will feel better soon!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@mfa_lady: My father is my boss and he knows, luckily. But I'm sure he's not thinking about it when parsing out work, you know? I am really trying to hold off telling anyone (including our nanny) until I get the genetic testing results back. So, probably 3 more weeks still. AGES. I'm sure you are performing better than you think!!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@winniebee: Totally. Yeah, we're doing an NT scan but that's all. We won't have any additional testing. Oh, AND one of my team members is doing a margarita bar at our monthly team book club on Friday. It's getting to the point where it would be easier if they knew, you know what I mean? So many hard decisions.

@mfa_lady: last night was the first night in a long time where I actual felt functional after I put dd to sleep. I even did a bunch of dishes, folded dd's laundry and of course, watched teen mom 2. I'll be 12 weeks on Friday, so hopefully I'm near the end of 1st trimester exhaustion.

Not looking forward to going home next week... Back to no help (damn my hubs crazy hours job -- completely his choice, they don't make him work 80+ hours a week), planning and making all the meals, and cleaning the house. Ugh! Sometimes it's really hard living 2000 miles from any family. This time at my mom's house has been a nice break. I'm helping out with cooking and cleaning, but I don't have to do everything so woohoo!

@MrsRcCar: reading your posts made me tired, hang in there Mama!
@mfa_lady: YES! I fake it well
@winniebee: You Mama's with 2 plus rock!!!!
KUDOS!
We didn't get to hear HB midwife didn't want to even try because she didn't want me to freak if we couldn't find it then do an unessassry US and I go back in 1.5 weeks for a full exam and will definitely try then, so I guess I get it but....... I was looking forward to it!
I cried in her office talking about this pregnancy I think it really hit me I'm not just pregnant there is another sweet baby joining us and I can't wait!!!!

First ultrasound is Friday! I'm getting anxious because we plan on announcing to family on Sunday at Easter brunch
I hope that everyone starts to feel better soon as some of you are heading into the second trimester!!

ugh! got a call from the perinatologist's office, they confirmed our appointment tomorrow afternoon and then asked that I arrive with a full bladder. While normally I'm ok with this (thanks IVF transfers!!), this is for a new patient appointment....that has new patient paperwork that needs to be done prior to being seen. So I drink all this water at home, then come to your office (luckily I can see the office from my couch!) and possibly sit there for another 45 mins or more before I'm actually seen and do an ultrasound. Yeah, this isn't sounding comfortable.

@waiting4you: Oh, the full bladder is the worst! Can you get your paperwork ahead of time?
apricot / 344 posts
@avivoca: I was actually just telling my husband this and we both think it's crazy. I may stop by there today to try and pick it up. Sad thing is I don't even know the name of the practice, just the dr's name and the address (I was sent here by my new OB).
Don't mind the super dirty chairs and my hubby and father in law in the background...this was from almost a year ago when we were still moving in to our new house. See the building in the distance on the left, just over the wall? That's the hospital where we will deliver. And my OB and the peri are in the buildings next door. For as bad as it was driving an hour each way for 2 years of infertility appointments...we lucked out now that we are expecting.

@waiting4you: Can you go pick up the new patient paperwork to fill it out at home beforehand?

Appointment went well today. I have a new doctor and I really like her and her nurse. Measuring on track and it looks like I may be able to do the panarama test this time for free. Will decide at next appointment in 3 weeks.

Well I can no longer say I haven't thrown up. I am so grateful to be pregnant but this morning sickness thing is for the birds. I was hoping to get lucky this time.

@waiting4you: That's awesome that you are so close to the hospital! There are two hospitals about 5 minutes away from our house but I'm not delivering at either of them.

@waiting4you: wow so close how awesome!
@whiskers: Good update glad you like your new Dr

@FaithFertility: Thanks. I hope I turn the corner soon.
My first appointment is March 31 st. I hope all is well in there when we go.

Gah. I am freaking out a bit today, ladies. My symptoms have almost completely gone away - no nausea, sore chest or fatigue. I am feeling pretty normal. No major back pain (just a dull ache), bleeding or cramps (only twinges here and there that I've been feeling for weeks now)....but I'm still so anxious. I know symptoms can fade (and then sometimes come back), but is it normal to be this absent at 9 weeks? I am probably extra nervous about this because we plan to announce to DH's family this weekend. Next appt is a week from today for blood work and heart rate check. Hoping this is just my first major panic moment and all is actually ok...good vibes appreciated!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@TapDancer: Things are most likely okay. I started to feel more normal around 9 weeks. I'm 12 weeks now and while my nausea has come back a bit, it is nowhere near what it used to be.
cherry / 246 posts
@avivoca: Thank you, that makes me feel better. Not happy your nausea returned of course, but glad the fading at week nine wasn't anything to worry about
pear / 1767 posts
@TapDancer: My sister is 20 weeks and never experienced any nausea, fatigue, etc. during the first trimester. Some people are just lucky that way. Also, with my first, I never had morning sickness and the tiredness faded right around 10 weeks and he's 3 now. Try not to worry too much!

So I'm going to call my doctor's office, but they're at lunch right now, so I'm turning to you wise ladies in the meantime
I have my NT scan scheduled for Friday, which is the earliest possible (they gave me a window of 3/25-4/15). I'll be out of the country from 3/28-4/11 so I either need to do it Friday or April 12-15. I was fine going this Friday (I'll be 11w2d), but my husband says he remembers the doctor saying that later would be better. Any second or third time moms have experience having this scan on the earlier side? Would I be better off waiting till we get back from vacation in April?
nectarine / 2210 posts
@Kitkat: I'll have mine at 11 weeks 5 days. It had to be before 12 because my normal Doctor no longer delivers so I'll need to switch to someone else in his practice after 12 weeks. That's the closet I could get to 12 weeks with Friday being a holiday which means less times to schedule.
I think your fine as its scheduled. Worst case if there's something they want to see better they can schedule a follow up in a few more weeks.

@mfa_lady: perfect little monster is right between molars coming in and the 2:1 nap transition, it's a little crazy over here!
And a margarita bar? They are totally trying to out you!
@MrsRcCar: wow, I can't imagine that much solo parenting! Hope you feel better!
@whiskers: glad your appointment went well!
@TapDancer: I think it's normal for symptoms to come and go. It's also normal to be anxious about them! I have no symptoms this time around, and the first time my nausea and fatigue happened on and off without any reasoning.
No bump here yet (unless you count the fluffy bump left over from my last pregnancy ). I'm looking forward to having a bump again! It's more fun to show off a baby bump than hide the fluffy belly I have now.
And any second or third time moms here planning to VBAC? My doctor says I'm a good candidate, and I really don't want another c-section, but our local hospital (5 minutes away) has a vbac ban I'll have to transfer to a different OB and hospital that is 50 minutes away without traffic. Thankfully I can do checkups through 32 weeks at my current OB, but that means I won't meet the doctor/midwife that attends my delivery until then.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@TapDancer: my nausea subsided for several days and I haven't had sore boobs at all this pregnancy. I think it's ok! You could always call and ask for an ultrasound
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Kitkat: I had mine at 12 weeks the first time and 13.5 the second. I think my first doctor said between 11-14 was good, my second doctor was a high risk doctor and they wanted it closer to 14 for whatever reason. I think if your OB says it's fine, it's fine!

@winniebee: @charmed: I am feeling relieved, thank you for the reassurance! I'll let the anxiety pass and instead focus on feeling decent for a change
kiwi / 538 posts
@charmed: Nope- the 1 hour I pushed before I had my c-section was enough of the birth experience for me :). I'm looking forward to the scheduled c-section- it will be so much easier for my family to come and help with my son. Also I need the extra 2 weeks of maternity leave!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
My lunch for tomorrow -- this is absurd!! Sandwich, cheezits, chobani, pickles, apple, orange, nutrigrain bar, v8, diet coke. I'm a little worried it's not enough
kiwi / 657 posts
@charmed: my hospital is 45 min away and i know people who have traveled up to 2 hours to deliver at it. My only thought, having never had a c-section, if you ended up having one again after going for a vbac, would it have all still been worth it to try? Good luck making the decision, wish there were a better solution.
