@runnerd: So strange. I'm sorry you're going through this. Are you going to call the Dr. and ask about the discrepancy?
apricot / 251 posts
@marionberry: I was going to wait a little longer but I couldn't - I keep a pretty tight leash on my facebook friends list, and my profile is set to friends only, so I feel comfortable with it. I announced around the same time last pregnancy.
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@mrsmoreau: Thanks for making the list. I'll have to update my info next time I'm on a regular computer. Super cute FB announcement btw!
@mango.sprays: *whew* what a relief. So happy for you and baby!
@LittleGBee: eek I hope it doesn't last too long yuck!
@NBLChicago: yay! DH and I went to Riviera Maya for our honeymoon. It was glorious.

@marionberry: In regard to the sharp pulling sensations - i got those with my first - it is probably just your uterus stretching out which pulls on the ligaments that hold it in place. that's what my doc told me last time anyway. I haven't had as much of that this time, but then again I've already been stretched once!
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@char54: Oh yuck I hope you don't have the flu! Feel better soon.
@runnerd: Sending prayers for you and baby. I hope this turns out to be nothing major and you get answers soon.
@MrsStormy: Ahh I'd be going crazy!!

My supervisor told me she was going to leave early and work from home the rest of the day. I totally left early and went home to take a nap. This fatigue is insane.

@runnerd: thinking of you and saying lots of prayers! I hope you get good answers very soon.
@maionberry: I've been getting those, too! I've been super paranoid about every little twinge lately, and super emotional, so I'm just trying to make it till Monday when we have our first appointment (at 7 weeks, 3 days) and hopefully see the heartbeat.
@nblchicago: thank you for the Frenchie love! He is home now and doing ok...such a trooper, but has a long recovery
@char54: you poor thing! I've been dealing with all-day "seasick" stomach and can't imagine actually being sick with a bug! I hope you feel better soon!
@littlegbee: I'm with you, sister I haven't been able to find something that truly helps yet...today I finally tried Nut Thins and I think it might be helping a little. I hope it doesn't last too long!
persimmon / 1436 posts
Oh hey, have any of you gotten a flu shot since your BFPs? I have never gotten one (I'm wierd about it for some reason) but I know I'm "supposed" to and I'm just worried it will make me feel sick! Also, isn't there mercury in the flu shot?
pomelo / 5041 posts
@mamamagpie: I got mine before my BFP, because I work in a hospital and it's pretty much mandatory. I never get sick from it. I checked with my husband and there's no mercury in a flu shot. They wouldn't recommend you get it as a pregnant woman if there was.
@mrsstormy: There's NO way I could wait that long. You poor thing.
@mrsmoreau: Thank you for explaining it. I got one last night that literally made me feel like my uterus was detaching. Super weird. And I think I'll probably publicize my pregnancy on fb before the suggested 3 months. I at least just want to get released to an OB first.
@runnerd: Did you call your dr? That seems really odd.
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@MamaMagpie: the OB had me get one the first time I went, they recommended going ahead with it
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@marionberry: I'm scared to call cause I hate to question the doctor, but DH said he'd call for me if I was too chicken haha
pomelo / 5041 posts
@runnerd: If the difference is bothering you, have DH call. It may calm your nerves. Otherwise you can just wait but it's going to be a day and a half of wondering. Do what feels best for you.
coffee bean / 39 posts
@Mamamagpie: I got one at six weeks. I've never had one before either (also weird about them. I thought they would make me sick) but the doc was really adamant I get one. I didn't get sick after but my arm was really sore! The nurse said it bc I was so tense when she injected it.
grape / 77 posts
@MrsStormy: Thanks! That totally stinks that you have to wait so long. Is there no way to go in sooner??
@MapleMoose: Oh nice! Any recommendations for things we must see while we're there??
@mrsmoreau: I get that sharp pulling feeling when I lift myself out of bed with my abs.
@runnerd: Definitely call your doc tomorrow to clarify the discrepancy. And if you're not up to it, I like the idea of having DH do it. I really hope all is ok.
@MamaMagpie: So glad he's recovering ok. Poor little frenchie! My OB was adamant that I get a flu shot today so I got it after I got all my blood work done. I'm going to make DH get one this week.

I've been MIA for a little while (dealing with an icky eye infection) but so fun to hear all of the appointment updates!!
@runnerd: thinking of you and hoping things can be cleared up for the best tomorrow.
@mrsmoreau: thanks for creating the google doc!! And such sweet photos of your little guy, how much fun.
apricot / 319 posts
@MamaMagpie: The preferred snack around here lately is rice cakes with peanut butter. I'll check out Nut Thins though...where'd you find them?
I haven't gotten the flu shot yet, but I know my OB will strongly recommend that I get one on our visit Friday. I'm undecided as to whether I'll actually get it though.

@MamaMagpie: I got my flu shot at 5 weeks - the doctor was adamant. I am now sick but with a cold and not the flu - the elementary school were I work was shut down for a day for having so many kids out sick with the gastro so I'm happy I avoided that!!
I did some research and recent studies have shown that women who get the flu shot even during the first trimester have a lower risk of miscarriage, still birth and birth defects (not by much - like 0.3% vs 0.6% risk of still birth ) but it was enough to convince me it was okay to get it.!

@NBLChicago: We tried to do a little bit of everything. We took a catamaran to Isla de Mujeres for snorkeling along the edge of the island. One of our first days there we did an ATV adventure trip through the jungle (you get pretty dirty) that ends with swimming in an underground cenote (cave) which was spectacular. As for ruins we went to Tulum and Coba. Tulum is on oceanside cliffs and the views are amazing. Coba was way out in the countryside and we were invited in to a traditional home and they made us homemade tortillas and let us tour their Mayan village. We took a taxi from the resort to 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen which is a street closed to traffic (pedestrians only) full of shops. It was a little hectic with all the vendors trying to get you into their shops so we only walked it once and ended up getting drinks beachside at Senor Frogs. But DH wanted a souvenir so we had to go in a few. Just remember that pretty much EVERYTHING is negotiable. DH haggled for the cost of photos taken on excursions, souvenirs in shops, etc. Have a blast!!

Omg you guys. I'm off work today thanks to a storm and have been watching TLCs baby show all morning...big blubbering mess the entire time! I can't believe in 8 months ill get to experience the same thing and meet this little miracle inside me.
Do you ever stop and go WOW? Some days I forget I'm pregnant bc I've had no morning sickness...but then some days it hits me that there is a little person with its own heartbeat growing inside me! So wild.
clementine / 959 posts
@MamaMagpie: I've never had a flu shot and never had the flu. During my first pregnancy they tried to push it on me, but I didn't want my first time getting a flu shot to be while I was pregnant. I don't think I'll get one this pregnancy either, and so far they haven't pushed it.

My first appt is not until 2/15 due to my husband's work travel schedule So we are pretty nervous until then when they can tell us what is going on since I don't really have many symptoms.
I got the flu shot for the first time this year and had no reaction at all.
This morning I woke up and had put on a sweater I briefly wore over the weekend but had to take it off bc I couldn't take the smell of my perfume on it. And then riding the train in I could smell everyone's perfume and was not feeling it After eating breakfast once I got to my office I feel better.
clementine / 818 posts
@MamaMagpie: My doctors office told me to get one I just haven't had a chance yet, I have only gotten it one other time, but I trust that they wouldn't tell me to get it if it was going to harm me or the baby. For me they told me I needed to get it simply because a fever can cause some serious problems in pregnancy so I want to avoid that the best that I can.
@NBLChicago: I have a tentative plan for how I'm going to try and get them to do an earlier one, I have an appointment at 8 weeks but not with the Dr. and I'm just going to point out some of my concerns, irregular cycles (so not knowing actual EDD), twins in the family, and honestly just plain anxiety over not knowing for that long and see if they will make an exception, so hopefully they will schedule something for me sooner.
grape / 77 posts
@MrsStormy: That sounds like a good plan. Hopefully they will comply. 12 weeks just seems like a long time to go without any insight into the pregnancy.
@MrsClownfish: I feel you on the enhanced smell! I can't take it. I've stopped wearing perfume myself because the smell is too intense. It's like booze and perfume are the most enhanced smells to me - vom!

Still no m/s here but the fatigue is almost debilitating and getting worse every day. DH came home yesterday and told me he was thinking of hiring a house cleaner so it's one less thing off my plate and would I be okay with this ---- ladies I had FULL ON TEARS of joy. Sobbing, blubbering, happy, crazy lady tears. He has been picking up so much of the slack in the past few weeks and he thought I was crying because I didn't think he was doing a good job.... quite the opposite!! I'm just happy not to live in a pig pen, which we would if it was up to only me at the moment.

@jetsa: Yay!! Did you see the little heartbeat??? I can hardly wait for our first appointment (2 and a half weeks away.....) but from the sounds of it, it sounds pretty boring (blood work, paperwork, medical history...) I will push for an ultrasound though to at least see the heartbeat!!
