    @merr: Cute baby bump!
    @char54: I'm with you. I hate waiting so long in between appointments. I'm going to buy a cheap doppler I think to see if I can hear it at home.

    @marionberry: I just ordered a home Doppler today!

    @marionberry: @merr: Yep this is our plan of action too. We heard it today and then we'll hear it again in 4 weeks and then in another 4 weeks the anatomy scan.

    Here's what we're using for our announcement. We're going to do a first comes love, then comes marriage thing. This is my quick attempt to crop a pic I saved on the phone and the final one will look better.

    I'm officially out at work. I told a few coworkers today and I'm sure it'll spread.

    @merr: How cute!

    @marionberry: @illumina: I want to do this too! Where'd you get it at?

  6. pmerr

    apricot / 491 posts

    @jetsa: Thanks! It was the first one we took. The dog actually cooperated and looked good the first time, so we didn't want to keep pushing her.

  7. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

    @merr: haha yea, I understand that. My sister is making an announcement for us so I'll post it as soon as she's finished.

  8. pmerr

    @jetsa: I've been dying to tell work! DH wants me to wait until family is told, especially since I haven't had any symptoms, so I'm not making anyone suspicious. I'm barely taking any time off for appts too.

  9. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

    @jetsa: This is a company I'm looking at buying one from: http://www.fetalharmony.com/Sonoline-B-Fetal-Doppler-p/sonolineb-bl.htm?gclid=CLf45dis67UCFc5AMgod42YAbQ

    I don't want to spend a ton of money on it.

  10. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

    @marionberry: That seems way more reasonable, I was seeing 1 month rentals for $40 and yea no.

    I don't have another ultrasound until 20 weeks if we don't do genetic screening, which I think we will probably end up skipping, so I want to get a doppler as well. @marionberry: This one looks like a pretty good deal.

    @merr: Cute baby bump and announcement!

  13. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

    @MrsStormy: I saw on the website it said they were out of stock so I just ordered the same one from fetaldoppler.net. We must all remind ourselves though that if we don't hear the heartbeat not to freak out. It even took my OB a bit to find ours at our 11w appointment.

    Is anyone else eating things you're not supposed to? I've had a medium rare steak, soft serve ice cream, a turkey club and today I had hawaiian pizza. I didn't think about it until I ate it, but then was like, I guess that ham is like lunch meat. Oh well. I think a lot of that stuff is kind of crazy.

  14. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

    @marionberry: my midwife ok'd deli lunch meat today I'm so excited. As far as the rest of it I've been following the everything is fine in moderation track. There's a HIMYM episode where the OB says, "just a little bit" to everything Lilly asks if she can have and my hubby and I keep repeating that lol.

  15. MrsStormy

    clementine / 818 posts

    @jetsa: This is pretty much my OB's motto, most things are fine in moderation! They told me deli meats are totally okay, he has NEVER heard of anyone in real life to get listeria from deli meats, and he just said use good judgement. Don't eat sushi from a scary little corner market in the middle of the country with no fresh fish nearby, but between good judgement and moderation we should be fine. He also said it is VERY hard to mess up pregnancy, so to just remember that, anything that may go wrong is very unlikely to have been caused by something I did.

    @merr: cute, cute, cute!!! I'm trying to think of a fun way to announce on FB on Monday and we have two dogs so I might copy your idea -- is that ok?

    @merionberry: I have definitely strayed from the rules a few times...but I give myself a break because my morning sickness has made my appetite go way down and I figure if I'm hungry for something "off limits", something is better than nothing! Lately I've been obsessed with the sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches from Starbucks...pretty sure sausage is a no-no and it's also not in keeping with my gluten-free diet, but oh well!

    @jetsa: I loooove HIMYM and that episode was so funny! Just a leeetle beett

    @merr how adorable!! I didnt do a big formal announcement. Because of my business I had to tell everyone when I was only ) weeks out. I wish I had a cute bump to post! I am not really showing and I am 14 weeks saturday! All the moms I know say since its my first it takes longer to show!

  20. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

    @mrsstormy: @jetsa: @mamamagpie: Thanks for making me feel better. I didn't ask my OB what I could or couldn't eat. I've eaten all of those things in moderation too, so should be safe.

    @merr: super cute announcement!

    @merr: adorable!! I wish I would have been that creative!

    @marionberry: I've totally had a hot dog every day for lunch. And a bit of cookie dough last week. I was actually thinking today what a scare culture we have in North America towards pregnancy. I read an article before I left for cancun about how some ingredients in sunscreen may be harmful to the baby. By sunburns are bad too. So basically, don't wear sunscreen but don't get burned! So ridiculous. I have a pregnant friend who lives in France and she finds it hilarious how uptight out culture is with pregnancy here. Everything in moderation seems to be the mantra over there.

    And now, my first baby bump pic! I love rocking it down here because no one knows that I'm only 12 weeks

    @char54: You make me feel so much better! I agree about us in North America being way too uptight about food during pregnancy and all sorts of other stuff. Are you having fun in Mexico?

    @char54: I love your dress! You look great! Hope you've had fun in Mexico!

    @marionberry: I didn't realise ham was like a deli meat! I have ham several times a week. I've also had a couple of med/rare steaks, because it is impossible to get anywhere to cook it well done it seems, even when you ask! I eat tuna as well every so often, but a little of that is ok.

  26. pmerr

    @Mrs Diamond Diva: Thanks! It's my first too, but I'm not really thin, so I'm sure it's mostly just my belly that got bloated.

    Thanks girls! Notice how my boobs can barely contain themselves anymore??? Lol. I had a breast reduction about 3 years ago so it's strange seeing them get bigger again!

    @marionberry - I am having a blast, it's just what I needed to combat the fatigue and just chill out. Since I haven't been drinking my money's worth I've definitely been eating it...there's a bakery downstairs with all you can eat chcolate chip cookies. Enough said.

    It's our last day today before leaving tomorrow - kind of sad but kind of happy to get home and see our puppy - also every day that passes brings us closer to Sept 20 so I definitely don't want time to stand still quite yet.

    Happy Friday ladies!

  29. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

    @char54: beautiful.

    @illumina: @marionberry: I've read in the Mayo Clinic book medium-rare meat is fine as long as its from a reputable source.

    @char54: I was just thinking about how quick time is moving, we are almost 6 months out!

  30. illumina

    pomelo / 5469 posts

    @jetsa: thankyou, I feel a bit happier about that now! Yes time seems to be going quicker now. It crawled as far as 8wks and my first scan, but since then it's sped up lots.

    In other news, my nausea is back. The past couple of evenings have not been good and I haven't felt like eating dinner at all. Woke up today with it too... serves me right for thinking it had disappeared around wk9

    @merr: me too on the boobs, maybe very slightly larger but not much.

  34. MamaMagpie

    persimmon / 1436 posts

    My boobs got huge at around the 9w mark, and I thought "holy hell, if they keep this up I'm in trouble!"...but they've kind of stayed at that size. For now, haha.

  35. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

    @char54: yum cookies!
    @jetsa: I read that too.

    Does anyone else not feel pregnant at all now? They say you feel great in the second trimester but I wish I had symptoms to make me feel like he/she is still doing well.

  36. Joanlindsay

    grape / 98 posts

    @marionberry the second trimester is awesome. I feel great right now I haven't taken my nausea meds is a few days and no M/S or barfing. Hooray! Pretty soon we will all be feeling babies moving which is so so cool and makes you feel more like you know baby is okay. I think I'm feelings little peanut moving, but I'm not positive. It actually made me sad I couldn't feel baby kicks anymore when I hadn't daughter.

  39. illumina

    pomelo / 5469 posts

    @marionberry: I don't really feel that pregnant anymore, apart from the odd bit of nausea and the aversion I still have to a lot of foods.

    Has anyone started thinking about gear yet? We've started researching travel systems, but are a little overwhelmed right now!

  40. pmerr

    apricot / 491 posts

    Told family and close friends this weekend! We used a cake that had a little family tree on it. It took a minute as everyone read it to ask "...are you pregnant!?" We then went to a hockey game with friends and I got a onesie with the team on it, and he went around showing it off saying that it was his birthday present.
