So I ran last night for the first time in several weeks and am having crazy hip pain still (per dr google round ligament pain) has anyone else experienced this? I also took my lab/weim puppy with me for the first time so I'm hoping it was caused by an awkward gait because I was getting used to the dog. She loved it and I'm hoping I don't have to give up running so soon! I have a dr appt Thursday so I was going to ask then.
@MamaMagpie: @MrsClownfish: I don't think theres any problems with sleeping on your stomach but I can't because it hurts my boobs, lol.
@evenstar982: Super cute bump! I'll post mine tonight!
@Joanlindsay: Thanks for the tip! I can definitely see needing that.
clementine / 818 posts
@MamaMagpie: I was wondering this same thing but about my back, I mostly sleep on my back and have a hard time getting comfortable in other positions, so I'm hoping it will be the same for the stomach....

@evenstar982: I'll take one tomorrow when I'm home. DH keeps taking the pic here in Seattle and he's horrible at it. So with iPhone and mirror at home I should get a good one tomorrow. Pants officially almost couldn't button today. Hello becoming a fattie! Lol

@marionberry: hehe yep never thought i'd be glad my jeans were too small!

@Joanlindsay: mine will not share a room until we have a third. I made the nursery pretty gender nuetral with my first, so whether this one is a girl or boy it will go in the nursery and DS will go in the bedroom next door. This LO will probably sleep in our room for the first few months though, and then we'll transition both of them to their new rooms.
Here is the almost 14 week bump!

ah it's been a while since I last posted. a LOT has happened!
1. We did end up getting a dog. any veterans out there who had to introduce your first LO to the family dog? Or if you have a dog now, how do you plan on introducing everyone? so far all is well, although DS is having some sibling rivalry at the moment - ah well, he better get used to not being the big man on campus haha!
2. I bought a maternity swimsuit at Old Navy and it is the cutest thing ever - can't wait to show off my bump this summer!
3. my pooch/bump is very unpredictable - some days i am wearing my maternity jeans, other days i am still fitting into my regular clothes! it is bizarre - anybody else have an in and out bump?
pea / 7 posts
@mrsmoreau we have a 6 month old puppy. And no kids yet this is my first. We plan on bringing the blanket home before the LO comes home like weve heard to do. She is pretty friendly but really hyper and attention needy so I am a bit concerned. I hope she calms down a bit by the time the LO arrives. I also might bring a dog trainer to the home for help if needed since she is so young.

@mrsmoreau: We have 3 dogs. An 8 month old Labrador/weimarner, a 5 year old boston/rat terrier and a 8 year old boston terrier. It should be an interesting experience. We are going to try to do the blanket scent thing but other than that let them learn once we get home, they are good dogs and tend to adapt well. The puppy is a wild thing and does way better with a walk/run so I think that will be essential when we get home (although who will do it, I don't know).
I need to buy a maternity swimsuit but haven't pulled the trigger yet! We are going to SC in May to see my sister and then we camp on a lake all summer so it will get lots of use!

@Mrs Diamond Diva: @jetsa: thanks - we just adopted him - he is a 2 yr old boxer/lab/pit mix. he is super sweet and very clingy already so i worry about him being upset when i have to carry the baby around all the time. but i am planning on "wearing" the baby a lot so maybe it will help if i have my hands free for petting!

Well we had our appointment today and it went great. They moved my due date back about a week. It was so neat to see the little guy moving around so much! We got to see the heartbeat, and it was all just so exciting. Now, on to telling the world!

@mrsmoreau: I also have an ever changing bump, which I have decided means it must be mostly bloat, but I could just be telling myself that to make myself feel better about feeling so large!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@evenstar982: Ok it's always bigger at night, but it looks huge to me in this photo at only 11w5d.

@duckduckkristen: and @marionberry: Ahhhh I'm jealous of your bumps!!! You ladies look so darn cute! I'm 12w tomorrow and I feel like I just look like a chub-o I'm trying to envision the day when I'm out-to-here and think "gah, why was I so anxious for this?!" Maybe I'll finally do a pic tomorrow and post to see what you guys think
@mrsstormy: hooray for a great appointment!
And thanks guys for putting my fears about sleeping on my stomach to rest
pomelo / 5041 posts
@jetsa: @duckduckkristen: I'm so glad I'm not the only one visibly showing! I feel like if I'm popping this early I'm gonna be huge by the end. However I have almost no spare room between my hips and my ribs so I think the only place for baby to go is out.
clementine / 818 posts
I feel so much better now seeing your bumps, because mine looks like that, I was totally paranoid that I was a freak of nature who had a tummy way before normal!
@marionberry: Mine is way bigger at night/ in the afternoon too!

@MrsStormy: my next appt with the OB is 3/19. We're also opting to not do genetic testing.
We're announcing this weekend! I also have a before and after shot but don't know how to post from my phone.

Hi girls!! I've been MIA for ages and ages....the relentless morning sickness for the past few weeks really took a toll on me, and something about the scrolling motion of my phone screen just made me sicker. I've been feeling better the past few days, so I need to read back and get caught up on everything going on with you guys!
Everything looked good at our last appointment 2 weeks ago, and we're doing the NT scan this Friday (eek! nervous!)
apricot / 319 posts
@marionberry: You're not a freak of nature! Just wait for the second time...;) I'll post my picture tomorrow. You'll see!
apricot / 319 posts
@mango.sprays: Welcome back! I'm sorry the morning sickness was so rough, but I'm happy to hear that you're finally getting some relief.

Hi ladies! I love all your bumps - they're just what I needed to see today! As fun as cancun is, I'm having major body issues, surrounded by tiny girls in bikinis and cute evening gowns. Meanwhile I'm stuffing myself into a too small tankini (seriously, when did my boobs get so BIG?!) and wearing elastic waist sundresses at night. I barely recognize my body. I thought I was way Too early to be pregnancy showing but I feel better knowing others have bumps this early too!
Only a few more days in paradise then it's back to reality - oddly enough I'm excited because we have our next appointment and I am ordering fabric for the nursery. It's finally starting to feel real!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@MrsStormy: I'm glad I'm not the only one. In fact my belly looked super little when I woke up today. I'll have to check it tonight.
@Merr: Do you ever think twice about your decision? I know opting out was the right one for us, but sometimes I'm just eager to know.
@Littlegbee: Yes I've heard the second baby it pops out even faster. I can only imagine how big I'll be then. Can't wait to see!
@Char54: I think we must all be surrounded by skinny girls in our real lives. My friend who is about 6 months looks how I look now. She's tiny! We can't help but think we're huge next to others sometimes.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: @merr: we are also opting out. Well we weren't even offered the testing but we are not going to ask for it. I haven't over-thought it but mostly because its just not something offered here.
@merr: I have my 2nd appt tomorrow, I'm so excited to hear the HB again! Then we are going to announce on FB!
clementine / 818 posts
@merr: @marionberry: We haven't decided if we are going to do testing. Where I lived isn't really equipped to deal with some things should they occur in our baby, so in some circumstances (heart issues or a few other things) I would have to deliver some where else.... My Dr. felt we were probably okay without testing since we are young and healthy, but its a hard decision... we would not choose to abort regardless.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@merr: @mrsstormy: We wouldn't abort regardless either. I asked my doctor for advice and he really didn't have anything fabulous to say. He just said that some people want to know so that they can prepare during their pregnancy if something is wrong and others want to know so they can abort.
My mom did the testing with my youngest sister and they told her her baby had spina bifida and she should abort. She didn't believe in that, so she spent her whole pregnancy worried to death about it. My sister is 5'8" and an avid basketball player..definitely didn't have spina bifida. So my mom really recommended for my sake that I skip having to deal with that kind of worry. For those who having that amount of time to think about it and prepare might make them feel better, I totally get it. But for me, I'd just be distraught for the next 6 months.
clementine / 818 posts
@marionberry: Totally, we have a few friends who have worked in OB offices and most suggested not to do it because there are so many false findings that just cause extra stress if you would not abort. I think I sort of want to though because I want an extra ultrasound, isn't that ridiculous!? I'm probably going to see what my insurance covers and then just go from there.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@MrsStormy: I would have loved the extra ultrasound too! It was definitely a factor lol. We're thinking about maybe doing an elective ultrasound around 16 weeks to find out gender because I don't think we'll get one in my OB's office until 19 weeks, so that would be an extra ultrasound to make up for it I guess.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@marionberry: we are opting out. Actually our area doesn't do the NT ultrasound unless you are over 35. Instead they offer bloodwork that they send away to analyze and it comes back as having a high or low probability of genetic disorder. We decided to skip the whole thing since I'm such a worrier!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@char54: Ya we had the option for both the blood testing and the ultrasound but opted out of both for the same reason. Here's to a happy and stress free next 6ish months!
pea / 7 posts
@marionberry we have opted out of testing too. I am a big worrier and worry enough about things. My doctor also said they are more concerned with women over 35 and I am 28. It makes me worried though that I am not doing the testing though too! Ughh!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs Diamond Diva: It sucks huh. Well at least we'll find out if we did the right thing in 6 months lol. I'm young too, only 27 so figure my risk is low.
apricot / 446 posts
Thanks @LittleGBee: and @MamaMagpie:!
I really struggled with whether or not to go ahead with the first trimester screening and sought out a ton of opinions from friends/family/my OB. We knew we would continue the pregnancy no matter the results, but I ultimately decided that if we were "high risk" I would like to know and be able to be *somewhat* prepared. I'm still not positive it was the right decision, but am trying not to over-think it now, and just consider it a routine doctor's appointment/ultrasound. I totally understand those of you opting out...
pomelo / 5041 posts
@mango.sprays: I totally understand! I went back and forth about it for quite awhile. Enjoy your free ultrasound, for that I am jealous!
apricot / 491 posts
@marionberry: @jetsa: @marionberry: I only wish that I did it so I could have a u/s now instead of waiting until 20 weeks (we got a u/s at 9w). Other than that, I thought it would be nice to plan, but I've also heard of a lot of false positives and don't want to worry myself. We have no history of genetic illnesses in our families and we're really young (25 this year), so the chances are small.
We did hear the HB at 11 weeks (last week). I heard it at the 10w appt, but had to go back for a BP check, so I was asked if I wanted to hear it again, and of course said yes. Glad, since I don't go back for another 3 weeks, and we're announcing this Sunday. We ordered the cookie cake yesterday for it!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@merr: Yay for the cookie cake announcement! That's the same as us, heard the HB at our 11w appointment and now anxiously waiting for our 15w appointment to hear it again. We won't get an ultrasound until 19 weeks.
apricot / 491 posts
@marionberry: Not sure exactly when u/s will be. I'm assuming the next one after this one, since my dr's website says about 20 weeks: u/s. It's so crazy!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@merr: that's why I'm assuming 19 weeks too. It will be my first appointment after 16 weeks.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
My obs clinic does one and only one ultrasound at 20 weeks. I'm lucky I had one at 10 weeks for dating purposes but I hate having to wait so long for the next one! We heard the heartbeat at 9 weeks and 10 weeks - blows my mind how just one week can make such a big difference in how strong and clear it was! We have our next appointment at 13 weeks and I can't wait to hear it again
