Does anyone have much cramps/pains at the moment? Mine are fairly light but persistent, every evening for the past 3 days in my lower back and into my bum. Had a long walk today which might help a little. I'm not worried, it's just hard to relax/get comfortable sometimes!

@illumina: are you sure it's not sciatica or sacroiliac joint pain? I had the latter in my lower back last week a lot.

  3. illumina

    pomelo / 5469 posts

@marionberry: no? Would pregnancy cause those? I haven't experienced these feelings prior to being preg.

  4. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@illumina: Yes they were in my pregnancy book and are often a symptom of pregnancy. Plus right now your hips are opening up to make room for the uterus which may be putting pressure on joints in your back.

I had a rough bout of cramping a few days ago but am fine now. My lower back has been really sore, though, like I'd been exercising, which I have not been

We were out to dinner tonight with our daughter and some random lady congratulated me on my pregnancy. I don't know if I should feel self-conscious or happy that someone feels bold enough to say something and I'm 11 weeks. Guess it's time to fully embrace the changing body again?

@illumina I highly recommend prenatal Pilates if you can find somewhere to do it. It eliminated almost all back pain for me and I have had trouble with sciatica in the past. It also helped me hang onto my an muscles (at least a little).

    pomelo / 5469 posts

@Mrs Diamond Diva: Hi and welcome! Yes it's completely natural to worry, I don't think it ever goes away. Though you'll find this is a great place to get answers, support and advice to help lessen your worries

@Mrs Diamond Diva: Welcome! Worrying is completely normal, but hopefully as time goes on your fears will lessen. Mine have. I haven't bought very much for baby either. I've tried to pick some gender neutral items, but I will wait to find out the gender before buying too much more!

Yay! We're just emailed our friends with this announcement and we're going to post it on FB in a few minutes. (Hopefully it's not super huge)

    Welcome @mrsdiamonddiva

    @littlegbee so cute!

I haven't been able to sleep that well on my stomach lately so i bought a snoogle body pillow and while I have only napped on it so far, it is soooo comfortable!

  14. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@LittleGBee: that picture is super cute!

@mrsclownfish: I'm glad you like the snoogle. I've been curious if I should buy one or not. We're at a hotel for a work conference and this bed is killing me!

  15. LittleGBee

@amreis: Thanks! She doesn't know what's coming. Ah, to be young and naive.

@MrsClownfish: @marionberry: Thanks ladies! The snoogle is a total life-saver (in my opinion). It's a hassle to get into, but oh so comfy once you do, especially once you have that heavy belly to support.

    @mrsdiamonddiva: welcome and congrats!

@littlegbee: I got the coupon yesterday! Thank you so much! Also, your DD is way too cute to handle, and I love that announcement!

    Guys, what's a snoogle?!

  17. LittleGBee

    apricot / 319 posts

@MamaMagpie: Thanks! I hope you love Kenda as much as I do. A snoogle is a C shaped pregnancy pillow that provides support for the tummy and gives you a pillow between your legs and such. Google it. It looks awkward and takes up more than half our bed but I loved it! I will say though, I had friends that found it way too cumbersome.

Thank you everyone for welcoming me!
    @littlegbee what a cutie!
@mrsclownfish I bought a snoogle but I think I am too small to use it. I am very petite and not even really showing yet. I think I need to wait to use it till I am showing more. Any advice? I think I have the snoogle loop, it contours all the way around the body.

So guys my belly has officially appeared as of yesterday. We went maternity shopping and I realized it's going to be very hard to look cute at work while pregnant. I will post a pic later if I can take a good one.

  21. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@marionberry: yea mine is here too. I can no longer hide it in the mornings. Old Navy and Gap are offering 30% off everything including clearance right now if you are looking for more clothes but looking at them all I decided I'm very glad my office is so casual, I will not be living up to the business casual standards I normally hold myself to. I spent $160 and got 1 workout top, 4 pairs of workout/comfy shorts, 2 pairs of capris, 4 pairs of leggings, 5 dress shirts and 5 tank tops. Assuming most of it fits, I don't think I should need much else.

  22. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@jetsa: That's a lot of stuff! Good for you! I picked up two pair of work pants, one pair of work capris, and three shirts. I'm planning on buying some jean shorts from gap maternity online shortly. I will eventually need some additional work clothes but this is a start.

  23. MrsClownfish

    cherry / 199 posts

@Mrs Diamond Diva I am also petite (only 5' tall) I think I like the snoogle just because it makes me more comfortable sleeping on my side which I have NEVER done before (I am a lifelong stomach sleeper).

I am luckily still fitting into my regular jeans (with a little spare tire) but my khaki pants are really snug. I bought a couple of pairs of pants from Gap but can't wear them until I get the 2 feet of length hemmed off.

  24. jetsa

    grapefruit / 4663 posts

@marionberry: I'm super afraid I'm going to buy it all now and none of it will fit in July so I may return some of it so that doesn't happen. I'm going to need some jean and jean shorts but that's all I'm missing I think.

@MrsClownfish: I still fit in my clothes but by the end of the day they are getting increasingly uncomfortable

@jetsa: lurking, but I wanted to share that in my last pregnancy, I pretty much wore the same "size" the entire time. At the beginning (first tri) I was kinda a Medium but also could wear normal tops, most of the time I was a Large, and by the end (last 2-3 weeks) I'm sure I could have even gone to an XL.

Anyways, hopefully you shouldn't have a big issue with "outgrowing" stuff.

@T.H.O.U.: Thank you. This is great to hear.

  27. LittleGBee

@Mrs Diamond Diva: Thanks! I didn't use the snoogle until my third tri last time. A body pillow or just a pillow between my legs helped me through the second tri.

Is there a "rule" about when you should stop sleeping on your stomach? I usually fall asleep on my stomach and then end up on my side, but last night I thought "oh no, am I squishing little fig?!" and switched to my side but couldn't fall asleep for a long time. I know it's only a matter of time until its not comfy, but is there a recommended time when one should stop?

  30. illumina

So I just googled the Snoogle and showed it to DH and his response was 'how am I going to cuddle you in bed with that thing in the way?" hahaha

  31. duckduckkristen

    clementine / 959 posts

I love the snoogle! I started using it 16 weeks into my last pregnancy, but haven't busted it out this time yet. It does make it hard to snuggle DH though!

I'm 13.5 weeks now and belly is definitely bigger. Problem is, prepreg pants are too small, but most of my maternity jeans are still too big!

@MamaMagpie: I don't think you need to worry about sleeping on your stomach. When it gets uncomfortable, then it's time to stop. You won't crush the little one!

  32. mrsmoreau

    apricot / 251 posts

@MamaMagpie: Last pregnancy I slept on my belly until it was physically impossible to do so. Planning on doing the same thing this time around - I can't fall asleep any other way, so 3rd trimester insomnia is an issue for me.

but like DuckDuckKristen said, you wont crush your LO!

@jetsa save a little in your maternity wardrobe budget for later Iif you can. When I was like 7-USB months old really started to hate all my maternity clothes and it was nice to pick up a couple new things.

Question for any of you expecting your second baby - will they be sharing a room? If they are what's your strategy? We have a 4 bedroom house but, only two on each floor so it's either share or different floor.

  35. MrsClownfish

    cherry / 199 posts

@illumina that is pretty much exactly what my husband said....but he travels a lot for work so I told him it is to snuggle when he is not there. lol

I don't think there is any harm in sleeping on your stomach as long as you can, I just recently can't find a prolonged comfy position on my stomach so I am trying to sleep train myself to side sleep
