@MamaMagpie: Your bump looks so cute. I think mine would just look like extra fat still at this point. Love the dress!

@MamaMagpie: cute dress (and bump)! I brought my first pair of maternity jeans yesterday; DH and I are going away for a mini-break this weekend so I really needed something to wear which I don't need to hold together with a hair tie!
And yes, another pre-appointment worrier here too... I think (hope) it will start to get better/easier once we can all FEEL our babies movements, I'm sure being kicked in the ribs all night will be totally reassuring, hehehe!
My next appt is on Tuesday, after our break and I'm excited as its the first time we should get to HEAR the heartbeat (the ultrasound only showed us the image, no sound) so I'll be happy again once I've had that, plus DH is able to take the time off work to come too which will be nice.
let us know how your appointments go today girls! x

Thanks, ladies! I have a love affair with Target And I think the fact that the dress is maternity helps to make the bump look like a bump instead of chub, which in normal clothes it still kind of does!
Good luck at your appointments today! So exciting to hear the heartbeat It sounds like a little train chugging away in there!
@evenstar982: haha when we are all complaining about how uncomfortable LO is making us with their kicks, we'll have to scroll back to these pages!

Just got back! Baby wouldnt co-operate at first at all and she had me tilted feet up for a bit and then wiggling around and then trying to poke it so it would lie flat. She managed to get one measurement for the NT and gave us all 8 photos for free as they weren't amazing, but I think they are ok
Oh and I have a new due date... Moved up again to 19th Sept.
Have to wait til next week for blood and combined result now.

@illumina: sounds like you almost had the same experience as me! Glad your sonographer managed to get the nuchal measurement for you though! Did you get to book your 20wk appointment today too?
@MamaMagpie: haha yep - when we're all up at 3am because the rib-kicking is stopping us from sleeping we'll have to remind ourselves how much we wanted that reassurance a few weeks before!
pomelo / 5469 posts
@evenstar982: the sonographer said every baby so far today had been like that and wouldn't stay still. I guess it's pretty common. Apparently I'll get the 20wk scan date through in the post, though I'll be away from about 19.5-21wks now so I'll undoubtedly have to move it and possibly pay for an private scan earlier if the hospital refuse to bring it forward.

@illumina: We're due date twins now! Yay. Glad your appointment went well. We're probably doing an elective scan too because our doctor probably won't do ours until 19 weeks and I can't wait that long!

@illumina: Yay for the great apt!!!
We just got back - pretty routine - meet with the nurse, meet with the doctor, but the great part was hearing the heartbeat again. It's crazy how much clearer and louder it is now than at 9 weeks. Also how much higher the baby has moved up! When they found it at 9 weeks the baby was pretty much at my pubic bone (sorry, tmi?) and now it's about halfway below my belly button.
I didn't gain any weight since 9 weeks, which I consider an accomplishment for just having gotten back from Mexico! My belly is definitely more pronounced though (my sister couldn't get over it when she saw me yesterday).
What are everyone's weekend plans?? I really want to go maternity clothes shopping, but the nearest store to me is 2 hours away and we are already going down there for Easter in a couple of weeks. Leggings it is!!

@char54: @illumina: Yay for great appointments!
@char54: I just ordered some Old Navy maternity leggings and maxi skirts (and some jeans last week!) I'm not needing to start wearing them yet, but I can definitely see where the bump is coming...if that makes any sense, and it's kind of surreal!!
pomelo / 5469 posts
@char54: glad everything went well for you too. This weekend we are mostly spring cleaning our whole house as my Sister and partner are coming to stay for a few days next week. Other than that, I'm not sure. I have no desire to go maternity shopping... The few shops that sell stuff in the high street here in the UK have a pretty poor selection. I'm in denial about wearing maternity clothes and plan to drag it out as long as possible!

@illumina: It's pretty expensive for me locally. I think about $165 but I'm still willing to pay it.
@char54: Glad your appointment went so well! I'm thinking about maternity clothes shopping this weekend too. I did pick up some capri leggings from Target today but I'm not sure about how I will look in true leggings. I'm pretty hips and thighs lol. @marionberry: I'm very hip and thigh too... and I live in leggings and long tunic/tops or long-line cardi's and jumpers - so comfy! My only 'rule' for legging-wearing is to always cover the butt/crotch! "Leggings-only" is only a good look if you're working out/have a butt to be PROUD of, or are under 12 years old, IMO!
As for photos, if you're in a group picture you could always try to stand just behind somebody who is seated (or be seated yourself?) - that way you can use them to shield your waistline until you feel comfortable appearing in photos again? Just a thought...

@evenstar982: Thanks for the tips. I need to find some full length leggings. All o f the ones I've seen so far are capris. And I thought about that too. I'm gonna try to have one of my young stepsisters sit on my lap or something so you can't see my belly.

Anyone have any home remedies I can try which are safe for pregnancy?
pomelo / 5469 posts
@MamaMagpie: I am constantly feeling tired... This last week it's taken ages to fall asleep then I always wake up twice in the night and it takes about an hour to fall asleep again each time
Anyone else getting 2nd trimester insomnia? (I've got a feeling this has been posted on before recently, though maybe it wasn't on this thread).
What about 2nd trimester fog? DH was reading about it somewhere and said we get confused easy or say the wrong thing... this is me usually but whenever I do it now, he shouts "FOG!" so mean!
@evenstar982: sorry you feel poorly. I don't have a remedy I'm afraid... You can take small doses of paracetamol though, so maybe lemsip is ok?

@illumina: @marionberry: My mom bought me a ton of maternity clothes last week and I ordered a bunch from Old Navy. I need to go through them and sort out what I'm keeping. I'm not wearing them yet but I can definitely see the bump and know I'll be in them soon!

Is anyone else overwhelmed by the gear?? I have the basics: stroller, car seat, crib, etc. down pat. But it's the smaller things that is making my mind spin. Do I need a swing? bouncy/vibrating seat? play mat? jolly jumper? bumbo chair? infant bath tub? Which ones do I need right away?
It's making my head spin!!!!
clementine / 959 posts
@char54: you'll probably want either a swing or bouncer (you don't need both, just a place to put the baby down that has a rocking motion, it's best if it is easily moveable around the house so you can bring it in the bathroom, kitchen, wherever with you) and an infant bath tub. You won't need a play mat or any of the other stuff until LO is a little older.

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA. The exhaustion took over my life. It got to the point I was dragging at work, coming home and napping, eating dinner, and sleeping 10-12 hours a night. Finally finally finally the fatigue is letting up -- just in time for the second trimester to begin! The nausea was sort of a constant 'always there so I better keep snacking' type thing, especially worse if I got to the point of being hungry. It wasn't horrible, more just annoying and yucky. Luckily I only threw up a few times at home and not out in public.
Had my first scan at 11 weeks. The doctor kept trying to take pictures but the baby was kicking and punching the whole time. It was awesome to see our little peanut moving around. When the dr tried to point out the heart beat on the screen our baby rolled to the side. She was like "and here's the beating heart.......or not......" LOL!
No visible baby bump yet. It still looks like I've been eating a few too many cheeseburgers at this point. But I'm a few weeks behind most of you so it's great to see all the cute baby bumps because that could be me soon!

@maplemoose: Oh I'm so jealous of your cute little baby ultrasound! I can't wait for the 6 weeks until we'll likely get one, so I think we're paying for an elective one in a few weeks. I have at least been loving listening to my baby's heartbeat on the doppler though. Oh and I still look more like I ate too many cheeseburgers right now at 13w4d...so it may take awhile to get that true "pregnant belly".

@MapleMoose great pic
I don't know if it is just by me (Long Island/NYC) buy Buy Buy Baby had more than double the selection of strollers than Babies r Us, especially when it came to the higher end stuff.
We are still undecided, if we were still living in Manhattan I would probably opt for a Bugabo but we don't walk around as much anymore now that we are in the suburbs and have a car. having said that, our town is still walkable to parks and stores so a good stroller is a factor. AHHHH
