@evenstar982: Originally we called the baby "the peanut" but since finding out the sex we primarily call him by name.

@evenstar982: haha! No funny nicknames here... we mostly refer to her as "the baby" and if we're talking *to* her we call her Rose.
persimmon / 1436 posts
@evenstar982: that's so funny! When we still didn't have a name for him yet, we called him "Awesome" and even though now we have a name, we still both call him that sometimes I've been trying to to say "Harrison" a lot more though, to get more used to using his name!
clementine / 818 posts
@evenstar982: Our nickname is just baby bean, but really mostly DH calls it that, I started calling it Percy (as in Percy the parasite ) but DH was not a fan. I have a bad habit of saying it, and I know people like cringe when I do that, but its hard when you are team green and sometimes I just forget to go the distance and say the baby, or baby bean.

OMG I was going on my registries to see if I had chosen any swaddle sacks that were larger than a small because I've heard after that you might as well just go with a regular sleep sack with flailing arms and found out that someone has already been buying us stuff! I was just talking to a pregnant friend saying maybe we'd buy the crib soon so that we could do more in our nursery, but someone has already bought us our crib and changing table as well as some other little things! What a cool surprise! It must be my aunt or my stepmom who are currently working on my shower.

@marionberry: How exciting!!! That is so exciting to see little things ticking off the list, its also exciting to know other people are very excited with you about your little one!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@MrsStormy: I just wasn't expecting it! Our showers aren't for quite a long time, so I just thought I'd go in and update the list, not find things purchased already. It is very exciting though to know that others are so excited for us too.

@evenstar982: when we first found out we were preggerz, we called him/her 'paris'... which could be male or female (trojan war and hilton)... and short for 'parasite'.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@marionberry: wow, so cool!! I think my shower is in late July. No one really does registries around here so I don't know what I should buy yet. I'm thinking I should wait until after to see what I need but I want to start buying now!!
Fun development this week - we can see my belly move when the baby does! It's so crazy - my stomach shakes and then I laugh which makes the baby move more. For some reason seeing my belly move on its own made me feel more connected to the baby. Is it September yet?!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@char54: I'm so jealous! I haven't been able to really see the baby move in my belly because he's so low in my pelvis. I bet that you just loved that! It's just one more degree of connection.
persimmon / 1436 posts
@char54: I saw my belly move for the first time last night!!! I'm out of town for work, so DH missed it, but I was able to get a video of it happening a few times on my phone. Isn't it the coolest?!
clementine / 818 posts
@char54: @MamaMagpie: This is so cool! DH still hasn't even felt baby from the outside, but I think thats more timing than anything, because I have, he is just never around. Last night though, the baby was pushing on one spot, and he could feel the hard round spot where it was, you couldn't see it, but it was neat for him to be able to feel that.
persimmon / 1436 posts
@MrsStormy: it'll happen soon, I'm sure! It wasn't that long from the time I/we could feel him kick from the outside and seeing it. I think DH just felt him kick only a couple of weeks ago?
pomelo / 5041 posts
@char54: I finally saw my belly move this morning! I probably could've seen it earlier but since my kicks are usually so low in my pelvis I just can't see that area regardless. So awesome! Is anyone else noticing that their kicks and such are so much stronger now?
Also, I'm totally having soreness in my lower belly. Anyone else having any soreness? This isn't like one sided round ligament pain, but basically soreness the whole length of the underneath of my big belly. Per one thread on HB it sounds like this is normal, but I'd love to know if anyone else is feeling it.
persimmon / 1436 posts
@marionberry: kicks/movement definitely feeling much stronger now, and I'm also feeling sore and tight from hip to hip across my lower belly! It's fairly uncomfortable, but only slightly more than annoying. Now that I'm getting bigger and the muscles are stretching like this, it's kind of scary -- I keep thinking "I'm just going to keep getting bigger!" Eeek!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@MamaMagpie: So glad to hear I'm not alone in the soreness. I keep thinking the same thing! Like I already feel like my skin is pulled tight. I can't imagine how it's going to continue to grow for so many more weeks!
Also, is anyone worried about their gestational diabetes test? I have mine on Thursday and I feel super stressed that I'm gonna fail.
pomelo / 5469 posts
@marionberry: @MamaMagpie: I think I know what you mean about the soreness. I tend to get it low down late in the day/evening. I attribute it to her head being wedged down there though because I can definitely feel a huge mass on the right side whereas the left is always squishy. DH thinks it's gross and won't feel it!
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@marionberry: oh wow!!! Isn't that the coolest thing?? Last night DH and I just marveled at my belly moving. We were watching the Blackhawks game and baby went crazy when they scored the game winner
I have my glucose test today and I am SO NERVOUS about failing. Yikes. Ill let you know how it goes!
I had a bit of a scare on the weekend, I had wicked pain that started in my elbow (felt like I slept on it funny). By nighttime it had spread from my fingers all the way up my neck and face, all on the left side. It was so sore I couldn't think of anything else. I called Telehealth who told me to go to the ER to get it checked. At my hospital after 20 weeks you go right to labor and delivery so the ER sent us there. It was so eerie!! The floor was dark and there was no one around. Quiet night for babes I guess!
Finally DH found a nurse on another floor who got us sorted out. They found the heartbeat, did some tests and everything came back normal. There wasn't much to do except tell me to keep taking tylenol and ice/heat it. I left in as much agony as I came in but it has slowly gone away in the days since. So weird!
One positive that came from all that was knowing how amazing DH will be when I'm in labor. He was a rockstar this weekend trying everything to make me feel better and knowing exact what to say.
Anyway overall a crazy/painful weekend but all is well now!

@MamaMagpie: @marionberry: @illumina: I'll join you on the soreness... just a sort of persistent dull ache for me. Other than that though I'm feeling pretty good these days, but I think that mid-trimester glow is about to wear off and be replaced by being big and uncomfortable!
@illumina: I'm impressed you can tell where the head is by feeling your belly - I just had a good poke at mine and I have no idea what's what... except I suspect baby is head-up with feet over to the right, since thats generally where I feel more kicks. I certainly can't yet feel anything which is discernible as a head/bottom - but with my placenta where it is I guess its cushioning my prodding!
I have this week off work, and just about to start making my nursery curtains and crib skirt... plus ordered the stroller yesterday and it arrives tomorrow, woohoo!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@char54: I'm glad all is well! How'd your test go? Will you get results quickly?
pomelo / 5469 posts
@char54: Scary! Were they able to diagnose what caused the pain? Hope you're ok now and your test went well. I have no idea when mine will be.
@evenstar982: I'm pretty sure it's the head, there's definitely something there that isn't on the other side... it's weird! Have you had your 25wk appt yet? Just wondering what usually happens at it... also do you know when our glucose tests are?
apricot / 284 posts
@illumina: I had a 24wk appointment last week - the MW took a urine sample which I think she tested for glucose as she said something about checking for GD (she also got an instant result and said I was fine).
That reminds me to update the list actually! My next appt is for 28wks checkup... and I think there are more blood tests then but I'm not sure what for...

Shopping PSA: Gap has some cute maternity swimsuits in. I am thinking one of these tankinis

@MrsClownfish: That's cute! I got a maternity swimsuit at Target last weekend. The top is cute but the maternity bottoms were horrible. I just ended up getting some regular women's black bottoms instead. But I really decided that women who were pregnant and looked like me were just not meant to be in swimsuits. I'm honestly not looking forward to actually wearing it in public.
cherry / 199 posts
@marionberry I didn't love anything at target. I went with these bottoms because I just didn't think I would feel comfortable with the regular bikini bottoms under my belly. We'll see

@MrsStormy: @marionberry: @MrsClownfish: lol I've been debating this too. I'm still wearing a pre-maternity suit, idk that I'll by a maternity one. I probably should but I'm not a fan of myself in any suit right now so why spend money.

@jetsa: @MrsStormy: @marionberry: @MrsClownfish: i just tested out my maternity swimsuit over the holiday weekend - it was great! I got mine a while back from old navy - regular style bottoms with a maternity-style tankini top. Other than not having as much support for the boobies, it was great. for now, that is!
Glucose test today! too bad someone brought in donuts to the office this morning.... bad timing! I will probably eat one anyway haha

@mrsmoreau: How many weeks are you now? My Dr. hasn't even mentioned the glucose test yet, but I have an appointment next week, so I'm guessing we will talk about it then.
I'm very excited, this weekend DH and I are going on a mini babymoon. We didn't want to take a big trip because we didn't want to spend a ton of money or take a bunch of time off, but we are going about 5 hours away to the coast for 4 days, I'm so excited! Can't wait for a weekend away!

@mrsmoreau: glucose test today for me too! I'm super nervous! Good luck!
@mrsstormy: they recommend your glucose test be done between 24-28 weeks.

@MrsStormy: my office doesn't do the glucose test until your 28 week appt. so maybe that's why.

@jetsa: @illumina: I just checked my notes - glucose test at 28weeks according to what my midwife has noted

@Joanlindsay: No I don't think so, I did have one thing about a week ago where I wondered if maybe it was BH, I just had like a super tightening of my stomach but then it passed and I didn't think much about it, it hasn't happened since. I'm sorry that you are having them and they are unpleasant, hopefully they ease up
Well I am feeling so spoiled today, Saturday is my birthday, and my department at work went together to get me gift cards for a pedicure and a massage, I thought I was going to cry! Sometimes I forget what a great team I have, but I could not feel more appreciative of them than I do today. Can't wait to pamper myself soon!

Here I am at 23 weeks, I think I look a little larger in this picture than I do in real life, but whatever. Also please ignore my big arm (it really isn't weird and cellulitey like it looks in this pic, I promise), serves me right, learn to pose better, I'm an awful picture taker!
