@Mrs squirreld: that seems to be the case with every baby related item! It's overwhelming!

@marionberry: @Mrs squirreld: Lookin good ladies!
@char54: I have a list on my phone that DH can view from his phone too (just in case he needs to grab things), and I have a few things set aside on top of the mini suitcase, but definitely not packed yet.
@Joanlindsay: I just picked up a pair of maternity yoga pants at Target this weekend. Liz Lange for $25. I like that they feel thicker than some pairs I've looked at. They go under the belly.
@Mrs squirreld: I read some reviews on HB and picked the Bamboo Belly Bandit Natural as a postnatal corset. Haven't picked it up yet so I can't say what it is like in person.
@jetsa: My hospital doesn't give out carseats. In fact they won't even check your carseat or make sure baby is strapped in correctly for fear of liability!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@MapleMoose: they said they wouldn't check the carseat but they give them out.

@jetsa @char54
I have never heard of a hospital giving away carseats! We registered for (and someone has already bought us) the Chicco keyfit 30 http://www.amazon.com/Chicco-Keyfit-Infant-Seat-Adventure/dp/B000MAER3Y

@jetsa: I've never heard of a hospital around here giving out carseats. What a nice gift! Is your hospital for-profit? There's just no way our hospital could afford to do that.
That reminds me though ladies, what amenities does everyone get during and after their delivery from their hospital? I'd be curious to hear as work research, hehe.
@mrssquirreld: I read about your back. So glad DH finally made it home and you're sleeping now. As I was reading I just kept thinking you should've been calling the emergency line, so I'm glad your DH agreed with me. I have looked into postpartum corsets but haven't picked one out yet or decided if I'll really wear one. They all look so stiff that I'm wondering if it would be comfortable for a girl like me with a really short torso.
@maplemooose: I have a pair of the Liz Lange maternity yoga pants from early pregnancy. I'm sure I can't still fit in them but am really thinking about getting a pair in my current size.
@mrsclownfish: We got a chicco keyfit 30 too in Elm!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: No idea if it's for profit. Its a regional hospital if that means anything. The carseat and celebratory dinner are the "2 perks" I suppose. Dinner is supposed to be steak, shrimp, mashed potatoes, corn, and strawberry cake, I believe.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@jetsa: Oh fun! I love the idea of special dinners (as long as they taste good) after delivery. Maybe they'll even bring you champagne?
At my hospital, you get a 15 min massage after delivery, free meals for you the length of your stay (and for DH during labor), and a lasagna dinner to take home when you leave (lasagna, salad, breadsticks, etc.).
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: the taste is what I'm worried about lol. You've got some good perks, DH has to bring $ for food and I love the idea of sending you home with a meal.
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@marionberry: I wish I had found them in early pregnancy! They are going to get a lot of use.
@jetsa: Oh yum! I don't think I get any of those perks. Just brand new labor & delivery and maternity wards. Which isn't too shabby

We finally got a second closet rod installed in the kiddos' room and I was hanging New Baby's clothes up and found my closet dividers and thought I would mention them here.
They are a lot like these http://www.etsy.com/listing/151883132/6-custom-baby-closet-dividers-jungle?ref=cat_gallery_4
They make it easy to keep baby's closet organized and help you avoid growing out of clothes before you get a chance to use them.

Anyone else feel like they are back in the first trimester? Every morning is a struggle to get through work, I'm uncomfortable and feel hungover and can't really do anything about it. Today my body decided to add in a sore throat, runny nose, and being nausea. I always said I wouldn't be one of those pregnant ladies counting down the days until the baby was born and being over pregnancy before 42 weeks and yet here I am at 33 weeks and I stand corrected.
apricot / 284 posts
@jetsa: 35 weeks here and yes... starting to feel just a little *over* being pregnant and just itching to be a mummy! Its HOT here too right now so I just feel bleugh. Lucky for me I've finished work so at least all I have to do is sit around and try to keep cool but tbh I'm just a bit bored of sitting around and in a way I would rather be sleep-deprived due to baby being on the outside, instead of just because its too hot at night and I need the loo every 2 hours!
@Mrs squirreld: tried to reply to your other thread but not sure it worked - glad DH was able to get home to you and you were able to get to the shower... I think we were all willing you to call his emergency number when we read what happened! x
@marionberry: your last picture is gorgeous, love your dress! Looking good mama!
I just installed our infant seat base in the car... and nearly done packing my hospital bag. My shower is this weekend and I have this weird feeling that LO may come early once that's done with, so I'm trying to be prepared! I'd prefer to hold out to at least 37 weeks if not the start of September though if at all possible!
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@jetsa: What a sweet gig!!! My hospital definitely doesn't give us a free car seat. I get free meals (but I had to stay in the hospital once for my breast reduction and the meals were nasty) but that's about it!!
@Joanlindsay: Aren't hiccups so adorable?? I didn't know if I'd be able to tell them apart from kicks, but I definitely can now. Usually once or twice a day I feel these very rhythmic movements very low. I'm hoping that means LO is still head down!
@Mrs squirreld: How are you feeling?? What a scary situation, especially so far away in a new town! Hope you are taking it easy and resting lots.
@evenstar982: @jetsa: I'm starting to feel over it too...The heartburn, up every 2 hours in the night time (maybe nature's way of preparing me) and general feeling of slugishness makes me want my body back. But I can't complain because I really have had an easy pregnancy...I just am so ready to meet LO and find out if this baby is a boy or girl!!
apricot / 284 posts
@char54: ditto! I don't want to complain since everything has been going really well in terms of te pregnancy, my midwife has just told me to keep doing what I'm doing and everything looks perfect... But I'm really looking forward now to meeting our baby and experiencing parenthood rather than pregnancy
cherry / 199 posts
@evenstar982 @char54 I am pretty much feeling the exact same way, physically I feel great and have been sleeping well this week since the weather has been nice and cool in NY. Just really want to have the baby so I hold it and can find out if it is a boy or girl!
Every night I ask my husband "but why can't the baby come NOOOOOOOOW"
Have my 33 week appt tonight.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@MrsClownfish: @evenstar982: @char54: @jetsa: I had a really easy first trimester so I can't say it's like that, but I am very uncomfortable now. Sleeping is kind of a joke. Between getting up to pee every 2-3 hours and rolling from one side to another constantly I feel like I wake up in the morning still really tired. And I'm always worried when I wake up on my back or if I feel like I'm too rolled over on one side, squishing the baby. It's certainly preparation for the next year or two of our lives, lol. I don't want baby to come too early but I wouldn't mind a week or two early before I'm really huge and not sleeping at all.

Well ladies... just got back from my 35 week appointment which included a strep culture and an internal exam.... Baby is head down and I am already 2 centimeters dilated!!!
I feel you all on the no-sleeping thing - in fact, I must have just been outright exhausted the other night because I woke up laying on my belly (not even sure how that is physically possible at this point lol)
other symptoms are crazy terrible heartburn 24/7, and the baby's movements are starting to get painful...
updating with next appointment!

Ladies, I never updated after my appt Monday. This was the only time I didn't see my midwife and the np I saw relayed the news that they think baby is too big so we'll do a repeat scan at 35 weeks and if its still measuring large they are probably going to want to talk section due to risk of shoulder Dystocia. This is a very different protocol than I think my midwife would follow so I'm hoping she has something else to say the 16th. I know they're off on my conception date but not by more than a week.
updating with next appointment, I'll also switch to weekly appt after my next!

@jetsa: thanks! it's hard to not get too excited... I was 4cm with DS for 3 weeks... this time of pregnancy is so frustrating to me because there is really no way to gauge how much longer it will be, or how quickly you will progress through labor. technically this is latent early labor, which could go on forever!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@mrsmoreau: I bet! I have no idea where I'm at, and I don't know if that's a blessing or a curse
pomelo / 5041 posts
@mrsmoreau: That's exciting. I know it means nothing, but with your second baby early delivery is even that much more likely right? Do you know at what point they usually switch to one week visits? Is it 35 or 36 weeks? I can't wait to hear about dilation, even though I know it means nothing.
@jetsa: I'll be curious to hear what your midwife says. Don't worry too much about the section. If anything, it means that you get to see your baby a week early...but I'm sure everything will be just fine. Did you do a scan at your last appointment to really see the size or are they just estimating? I haven't had any scan of my baby since 20 weeks.
apricot / 251 posts
@marionberry: usually it's 36 weeks, but he was doing the strep culture anyway so he figured while he was down there he would check things out haha, plus with DS being 8 days early he is estimating this one will be delivered before the full 40 weeks as well.
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: @evenstar982: Thanks Ladies... I am a bit of a wreck.. but recovering slowly I think... No more strenuous activities for me though. My body definitely isn't what it used to be.
@mrsmoreau: Oh my!!! Wow it's getting so real now!!! My MIL went into labor at how far I am along now... so it's starting to feel very very real!
@jetsa: Large? How large is large? Alot of the time they stuff that up and say oh your baby will be 9lbs and they are only 7lbs! Hope you get some answers soon! I wish they would tell us an estimate on how big they think bub is. My sister had HUGE babies... her 2nd was 11lbs!! So I'm a little frightened by that!
I have my checkup on Thursday now to follow up from the Protein trace... I'm not too worried though.. I've been testing my BP at home and its been consistently around 120/80 which is normal for me. So hopefully there is no signs of pre-eclampsia.
@MapleMoose: Yeah I think I'm going to get the Bamboo belly bandit too!.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: I really dont want a section, im supposed to go back to work so early i think id have a hard time recovering fully. I had a scan at 31 weeks, it's typical for my office. I switch to every week appointments at 35 weeks, I think it's because I'm off on odd weeks.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@Mrs squirreld: s/he was at the 81st percentile, measuring consistently 2 weeks ahead during the scan. Good luck at your appt!
@MapleMoose: After the post-partum belly thread, I'm going to get the Bamboo belly bandit too!.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: I'm hoping you get great results on your next protein test so that you can simply focus on you. That's got to be really hard adding a sore back on to being pregnant in general. An 11lb baby?! Holy cow I'd cry. I'd be begging for a c-section.
@jetsa: I have heard that a c-section recovery is really hard - 6 weeks instead of 4. I don't want one either because I'm only taking 2 months off, but in the end we can't choose what we end up with, so I've just decided to go with the flow. That's so cool that you have a typical scan at 31 weeks. I wish we did!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@jetsa: Wow! 2 weeks ahead in measurement! Maybe you'll just go into labor early and have a normal sized baby vs full term and a bigger baby.
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: Ironically she said it was her easiest birth. She had a med-free home water birth!! She's amazing! All of her babies have been 9lbs plus! I really don't want a c-section either, but at the end of the day I just want him to be in my arms safely so what will be will be. DH will get an extra 3 weeks off (so 6 weeks in total) if I had a c-section. So I don't think he would mind... I think he's upset about not getting to spend so much time with bub before he goes back to work... But I know some husbands and mums for that matter get alot less time so we'll be grateful!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: that's our hope! Like I said I know my dates aren't perfect so maybe. I chose oct 1 as my due date prediction but now I'm thinking that won't happen.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs squirreld: That's so nice for you and your DH! My DH switched jobs recently so he only will have about 5 days of leave once the baby comes. I really wish he had more! And your sis is superwoman! Wow!
@jetsa: Our dates are 100% firm due to the iui but ds measured a few days ahead at his 20w us and I often measure a week ahead in my fundal measurement so I still think he'll be a little early. I'm excited for you that you may get to meet your little one early!

OK, is anyone else panicking about their babies being here soon.... I'm worried he will come early ( I know he probably won't) I don't feel ready!!!
I feel so sick today..so maybe that isn't helping, my back is so sore I feel like I am going to vomit all the time. Also had braxton hicks on and off today.. I need to breathe and relax but I feel like there is soooo much to do still.... I'm doing up a freezer cook menu right now to try and calm myself.

@Mrs squirreld: i need to start on my freezer meals.... pinterest here i come haha!
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@marionberry: No scan here either after 20 weeks unless there is a problem. I would LOVE one to calm my fears that everything is progressing normally...I'm such a worry wart.
@Mrs squirreld: I am slightly panicking....my BFF had her baby last night (38 weeks) but we were pregnant this whole time together and it made me realize how close I am to becoming a mother! I'm not ready at all yet...once I'm moved in I'll feel much better!!
DH still may have to go to Peru for work at the end of August/beginning of September... everyone is being really vague about it when he asks. I'm SO SO scared that I will go into labor while he is away, I don't think I could do it without him. He assures me that he won't miss a minute of it but I don't know how he will be able to get out of it. The place he would be is very remote with limited cell phone reception....even if I could get a hold of him it would take him forever to fly back home. I'm trying not to worry about it because no one has mentioned it in a few weeks and it might not even happen. I just want/need him to be there!
I'm off to my (almost) 34 week apt today...I felt hiccups up high after feeling them low for so long..I'm hoping the baby hasn't flipped and is still head down. Will find out soon!

@Mrs squirreld: @mrsmoreau: I've started planning out my freezer meals too. We are waiting for the Labor Day sales to purchase an upright freezer for food and eventually breastmilk, so I can't quite start cooking yet.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@MapleMoose: @Mrs squirreld: @mrsmoreau: I started planning these out as well but I don't have room for too many so my husband volunteered to cook most days love that man!
@char54: it's likely that my husband will have to spend a week out east still and no dates have been set, I'm like if you are going, GO! and get back especially with the baby measuring ahead.
@Mrs squirreld: I feel ready somehow. My husband on the other hand wants the contractor out of our house, which should happen in the next few weeks. He is nesting like crazy, its so cute but also drives me nuts because I don't have the energy to help him. I was having some definite early labor symptoms yesterday, and I didn't know what to think!
clementine / 818 posts
@Mrs squirreld: @char54: I'm totally a little panicky about the baby coming early, I think I have most everything I need for the baby, but I just don't know if I feel mentally prepared for this MAJOR life change! I know I'm ready and it will be wonderful but its still so scary!
I feel like I've been so good about being prepared for everything early, getting everything we need quickly, but now I'm being lazy. I haven't started (or even really thought) about my hospital bag, I haven't even looked into freezer meals (which I want to do), the end is just flying by!
