I am having lightening pains non stop today... The worst when I try and bend over... Do you think that's normal? Maybe I should try going for a walk or something.

OK feeling alot better now... phew

    pomelo / 5469 posts

@Mrs squirreld: oh gosh, that sounds a little scary! Did walking help or did they ease up on their own?

@illumina: Total TMI... but I think he is trying to engage and was pushing down on my bowels which must have been full...after a extremely painful bowel movement I feel alot better.

@Mrs squirreld: I hear you on the painful bowel movements... I've had a couple of those recently where I've had a lot of gas to get out beforehand

@joanlindsay: Thanks for sharing your experience. It makes me feel much better.

@mamamagpie: Maybe you're going to be the first to deliver? So glad your baby is going to cook awhile longer though.

@mrssquirreld: I'm glad your lightening pains calmed down. Sometimes I find that needing to have a bowel movement causes me to get BH. Last night my belly was rock hard for hours after sex. I started worrying something was wrong but it finally went away.

hi ladies, wow, so much going on I can hardly keep up and I'm not even at work any more!

let's see if I can respond to the right people with the right comments (its like a memory test, not being able to reply from previous pages in the thread!)...

@Mrs squirreld: can't wait to see more pics of your nursery... I'm nearly finished creating our woodland wonderland now so will try and post some pics soon too. And great news on your new hospital and things all falling into place with your birth plan! Our hospital is similar; the ward I plan to deliver on is "Midwife-led" so the doctors only come down if called for, the midwives are supposed to be really good about letting you remain mobile and give birth in position which suits you best and they have two new birthing pools as well as gym balls etc so I am hoping to make the best use of all facilities available when I'm there!

@mamamagpie: I think @marionberry might be right, sounds like you might be first to meet you LO! Fingers crossed for you its not quite yet though

It made for interesting reading all the comments about how maternity is treated differently between the US, Canada, UK and Australia... I think the rules in the UK are pretty good, but the Canadians look to have us beat in terms of the level of pay you can receive while taking time off! Such a shame that the US hasn't caught up to "statutory" maternity pay laws yet though... its such a Godsend to know I can afford to take a few months off and still get paid a good percentage of my salary (and have a job to return to) - I don't think we could afford to have a family otherwise to kudos to you ladies in the US for juggling time off and changing finances.

As for the "lightening pains" oh YES, aren't they a joy... lol. I find I get them worst if I've been sat still a long time and then try and walk down stairs or for any distance - feels like the baby is "testing the exit"! OUCH.

Just think though ladies, only two more weeks and some of us will get to meet our babies! Both thrilling and terrifying at the same time

@marionberry: Its crazy how it can stay rock hard and then disappear...( haha if we were 18 this would be a VERY different conversation!)
@evenstar982: ooooh can't wait to see pics of yours too!!! We are just waiting on our tree decal to arrive and then we are done!!

Here's my 35week bump! I cropped out my head in instagram... it was hot and sweaty! lol

@Mrs squirreld: LOL! That was hilarious! I can't wait to see your finalized nursery! You're uber creative and you should end up in one of those nursery design blogs for sure. We plan to get ours almost completed this weekend however we're still waiting on our chair. It may not be here for a few more weeks. Your 35 week bump looks really similar to mine! I'd be cropping out my face though because it's getting so fat.

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@marionberry: oh I don't know about that!! I try, but sometimes you just have to work with the space you have!!! Better get out the good camera when I take those shots though! My face is looking quite round too...I blame the heat aswell! So glad I'm not pregnant here in summer! The 33C (91F) degree winter days are bad enough!

  12. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@Mrs squirreld: Your 91 degree Winter Days are about the same as our warm summer days here, so I can imagine it's equally as rough. I can't imagine how you get through the summer.

@Mrs squirreld: OMG 33 in the winter?? Lucky you have such a nice beach close by! It's about 25 here in the summer, -25 in the winter lol! Poor baby will have to be bundled up tight and warm.

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@marionberry: @char54: yep! Welcome to northern Australia! Haha summer is around 40-50 during the day and doesn't go below 30 at night!!! We haven't experienced it yet but thank god for aircon!!

@char54: I've also heard doing the circumcision about a week later is sometimes better because their blood can clot a bit better, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise? Still a bummer that you don't have a choice to do it there in the hospital, though

@marionberry: what a great-looking plan! Definitely helpful. Did you say there was a template you used from somewhere? And after last night, I don't know if I'm thinking "late" anymore! Maybe I should edit my prediction on our list

@evenstar982: ooooh I want to see nursery pics! Next weekend is Get The Nursery Done Weekend for us and so I hope to have some pics after that. Thanks for crossing fingers that bub cooks a bit longer

@Mrs squirreld: your nursery and bump look so cute! And I can't even imagine those summer temps if your winter is 91F!

@MamaMagpie: This is what I used to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything. You can either use their template or use it to make your own. http://pregnant.thebump.com/pregnancy/pregnancy-tools/articles/tool-birth-plan.aspx?MsdVisit=1

Whew, sorry for the delay, had a busy couple of days! (on the plus side, the house is now kinda clean -- or at least straightened up -- and we did our newborn photoshoot this morning and I am so excited to get the photos back in a few weeks!!)

@MamaMagpie: Life on the other side is very surreal ;). Didn't get much sleep last night, but I could have this morning if we didn't have the photoshoot, because E was still out like a light at 8am. Oh well!

I like iced tea over hot, personally. What I did was use the teakettle to boil 2 cups of water. I would put four tea bags in plus however much sugar I wanted (I like my tea sweet ^_^) and let it steep. I would then press the bags as much as possible and add it to a pitcher of four cups ice plus water. Drinkable right away because most of the ice melts.

@MrsStormy: Yay! email address posted to your wall :). I didn't know I could make gold wall posts to a non gold member, so let me know if you can't see it.

Looks like morning sickness is back to stay I have been spewing most days and feeling nauseous every other... seriously people don't tell you this happens!! It sucks! On the plus side it looks like I'm be below my pre-pregnancy weight after giving birth. I wonder if that's a diet anyone else is willing to try... urghhhh I need my own little pity party.

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@mrsmoreau: that's what I keep telling myself... urgh! It seems worse than in my 1st tri... its hard to spew when you have a giant belly in the way!

  24. mrsmoreau

    apricot / 251 posts

@Mrs squirreld: I am having a similar issue - my acid reflux is out of control. the doc told me to take zantac 2x a day but I want to avoid taking any meds... so I am suffering through it.

maybe certain foods are giving you problems? also I have heard of prenatal vitamins making people sick in the third tri

  25. illumina

    pomelo / 5469 posts

@Mrs squirreld: @mrsmoreau: Almost everything I eat or drink gives me acid reflux these days Thankfully a pill or two sorts it out immediately. Sorry you're suffering @Mrs squirreld: I can get sick really quickly if I haven't eat/drank enough... It's not that is it?

  26. Mrs squirreld

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@mrsmoreau: @illumina: I haven't noticed any patterns.. I know certain foods give me reflux, but this is different.. its nausea feeling all the time following by spewing It doesn't matter if I eat/don't eat/have big meals/ have small meals...I'm blaming the hormones! Who knows!! Certain smells are definitely send me over the edge sometimes!

Oh and totally scored on eBay. I got a 2 (!!!) bamboo belly bandits one for straight away, and one for when I'm a bit smaller for $60 delivered!!! Usually $89 new each here!!!!! I'm stoked cause I was in between sizes going by my measurement now & this lady was selling them as a pack cause she had the same issue!!! Wooohooooo

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@Mrs squirreld: That's awesome! So excited for you!

Today we went shopping and/or ordered almost everything we still need online. It was super fun and I feel like we're getting so much done. On the other hand, once I finish up with shopping for his things and setting up his room, Idk what I'm going to be, other than bored out of my mind and impatient waiting for him to get here. So I'm really trying to almost stretch things out.

Oh my gosh... My boobs are leaking for real. I guess I really am having a baby. DH thinks its hilarious how freaked out I am by it, seriously weird!!! Lol

@StrawberryBee: newborn photos are so cute! I hope you're happy with how they turn out! And thank you for the tip on how to brew the tea cold!

@Mrs squirreld: boo for third tri spewing I hope it passes quickly and doesn't last all the way to the end! And totally jealous about your awesome eBay score!

@marionberry: so exciting that you're almost all done! Ugh I feel like we have so very much left to do and it's overwhelming to the point that I've cried at least once a day over it. I know it's just hormones, but I can't wait to feel like everything is done and be twiddling my thumbs waiting for LO to arrive

I had pinkish brown discharge tonight (there's no such thing as TMI with us anymore, right?!) and after Thursday night's trip to the hospital, I'm starting to think bub will be making an early appearance. Of course, it could all just be normal stuff that I'm overreacting to and he may come right on time...we shall see!

Are you going back to the doctor today of Tom? I bet you are excited and nervous all at the same time! I am sure everything is going to be great no matter if baby comes soon or swims around in there a little longer

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@marionberry: haha yeah I'm a little worried about runnin out of things to do... I have a few things left to order online and his nursery still isnt complete. Today I ordered a rug for the nursery ( after giving in to find the perfect one) and made some padsicles... DH gave me a crazy look on this one!! Hahah oh I also made some soup to freeze...I'm just scared if I go over 40 weeks ill go crazy.... I think operation evict will commence once I hit 37 weeks. Lol.
@MamaMagpie: ooooh exciting!!!!! Keep us updated! I can't wait for a September mumma to have their baby!

  35. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@mrssquirreld: I'd be freaking out if my boobs were leaking too. DH would probably me more grossed out than me lol. I love your idea for operation evict. This will likely be me too!

@mamamagpie: Part of the bloody show perhaps? Or had you DTD recently? I agree, that you very well may be one of the first to go! Can't wait to hear what your doctor says at your next appointment.

Speaking of which, I am SO excited to go into the office tomorrow and see if I have started dilating or effacing at all!

so I am just sitting here watching my belly literally change shapes as the baby moves around and I have the occasional BH contraction. it is literally a cube-shape right now. made me giggle.

    nectarine / 2522 posts

@marionberry: after his laughter came the "oh I guess they aren't for me to play with anymore" then I laughed. Poor guy!

@mrsmoreau: isn't it the best! It always makes me giggle! The little stuck his butt (I'm presuming) out tonight... Looked like the giant egg poking out the side!!

  38. marionberry

@mrsmoreau: @mrssquirreld: Last night ds was doing the same thing! I kept laughing and DH kept saying "what the heck is he doing in there?!"

@mrssquirreld: I love your DH's comment! My DH has always been more of an ass man so I think he could care less.
